We hired Desert Valley Concepts to remodel our kitchen, master bath (partial), and replace cabinets in laundry room and hall. We began our process after contacting Jake Gonzales, owner of DVC. He came and saw our house and what our project would entail. Next we went to the showroom and began the process of picking out materials and discussing our budget. He and his associate Brittany then compiled a list of the materials and the approximate final cost which we then made a second visit to the showroom to finalize everything before Jake and Brittany would do the ordering. Once the materials arrived we began the actual remodel. At this point we were turned over to Dom, Jake's son, who would be the project manager for the entire project. The remodel took roughly 3 weeks and Dom along side his associate Tristan were there almost everyday to supervise the work. The two of them were polite, considerate, knowledgeable and well-mannered. The subs that were hired (ie. plumbing, countertops and installation of cabinets) were exceptional. The day the countertop crew arrived I believe they were in and finished in just a few hours with everything exactly as it should be. All subs were also extremely respectful to my husband and myself, with each group completing their tasks in a timely manner. Dom and Tristan ALWAYS let us know in advance when they or subs would be arriving to work and all were always on time. We needed a kitchen remodel but were new (snowbirds) in the area. After researching a number of options, we contacted Jake at Desert Valley Concepts. Right from the start we felt very comfortable with our choice. We appreciated the communication and attention to detail during the measuring/estimating/planning process. They made helpful suggestions and really worked with us to make sure that we got exactly what we wanted in our kitchen. There was never any pressure or hard sells, and they were sensitive to our budget. The plan was that my husband would be present during the remodeling process while I remained in Ohio . Unfortunately, right after the demolition phase my mother took a very rapid decline, and it became apparent that she had very little time left. My husband flew back to Ohio to be with me, and we just hoped that the previous reviews were correct--that Jake and his crew could be trusted to finish the kitchen to our high standards even when neither of us were there to oversee the work. I mention all of that to point out that we were in a very vulnerable position, and I can't help but think that many would have taken advantage of the situation. When we were finally able to fly back to Arizona and see the completed kitchen in person, we could not have been happier. There was not one detail that was done less than perfectly. We couldn't be more satisfied with the result. We love the aesthetics of the new kitchen, but even beyond that, because of knowledge and skillful planning, Desert Valley Concepts was able to take a small kitchen area (we didn't change the footprint) and make it SO much more practical and user friendly. Previously, I had very limited cabinet or counter space. Now, I literally have empty shelves because I have so much more storage! Some examples of ways that DVC made the kitchen so much more useful: a slide out pantry to utilize a narrow space next to the refrigerator, a two-tiered lazy susan to make a corner cabinet much more practical, drawer space on one side of the island and a cabinet on the other, etc. These are just a few of the examples--several of them I wouldn't have even thought of without Jake's help. Needless to say, now that we are ready to remodel our bathrooms there was never any question that Desert Valley Concepts would be the ones that we would hire! We were referred by two other friends who had used DVC to do some repairs at one residence and a total kitchen renovation in another friend's home. Their experience was incredible, so we reached out to them for installation of new baseboard and trim details as well as converting a bonus space into a official bedroom, with an additional storage area. They were incredibly responsive when i reached out to them for a quote on the work, and showed up within a day of the first call to assess the project. The quote came in within another 24-48 hours and was completely in-line with my expectations. A week later they began the work and completed it within a weeks time, even over the New Years holiday week! They did INCREDIBLE work... so much so, that our friends couldn't even tell the difference between what the builder had done when the home was initially built, and the work that they had done. We also needed some other work completed on the home, but they provided great referrals for services outside their scope of work. Desert Valley Concepts remodeled our whole house. We have a new kitchen and two new bathrooms, new tile floor throughout and a. beautiful stone accent wall. Jake and his crew were very easy to work with. They completed the work when we were out of town and updated us regularly with messages and pictures. I would recommend Jake for any remodeling job! Desert Valley Concepts remodeled our kitchen and master bathroom at separate times. In both cases, we had great experiences. The project manager was responsive and available, the workers arrived when scheduled and the jobs were completed when we expected. Our kitchen remodel was a big job that involved knocking down walls and more - our house was built in 1952 and even had the original cabinets. We spent quite a bit of time with Desert Valley Concepts prior to the remodel, discussing design and structure changes. As a result, every part of the remodel was known and approved by us. We couldn't be happier with the final kitchen. In fact, everyone who sees it is totally amazed and impressed. A year later, we did our bathroom remodel. Be very careful of this company! My husband and I just recently got gas piped for our stove top, in which we used TriStar Gas Company (amazing by the way). Needless to say, Tristar then referred us to Desert Valley Concepts to do patch work on where they needed to cut into the wall. My husband then set up the appointment, in which someone came out to do the work. The guy did not even speak English and when I asked him how much it would be, his reply was "I don't know". The work to be done was a 4 foot X 6 inch long hole in our wall... A few days later, we received the invoice for $380.00! My husband wrote to the company, to get a reply back stating "We are a general contractor so the company that did the repair is PH Drywall. When we do repairs we send them out and they bill us. We then add our standard mark up and bill the client. I did not personally see the size of the hole and the condition of the workspace so its hard for me to know how much work was involved." It's kind of hard to wrap your head around this.. But just as an FYI- do your research and do not take anyone's word that a "Company" will do the work for you, then later on your find out they are a general contractor! Let's just say, I will never use them EVER again! read more
