We were looking for an update and better use of space and Brittany really helped us with making the most of the space that had to work with. The install team was outstanding. On time, great work, and reliable. However, within 3 months of install, I have two cabinet doors that have paint chipping off of them. They are 12 weeks old and in worse shape than the 13 year old cabinets we replaced. We are a meticulous,adults only household. I reached out to the owner and was told "water is like cancer to the cabinet finish". After explaining that we do not let water sit on the cabinets, I never heard back. A+ for the desiner and install team, but unfortunately I don't think these cabinets are going to last very long. Very disappoinited. read more

We recently used Design Line Kitchens to design our new kitchen and create the cabinets and counters for our full demo of our 1970s era kitchen. We worked with Ralph who has a phenomenal eye for detail, provides great feedback about layout and clearly knows stuff as he helped solve a few (major!) problems once we had fully demo'd the kitchen. Ralph came to our home and took measurement and hand designed a layout for us (yes, by hand, no computers---he is THAT good!!), he returned to verify everything and worked with us to determine cabinet colors and design, a date for installation and helped us think through all the items that go along with a kitchen design. Nicole from DLK worked with us to select hardware and made what could be a difficult task really easy! She was easy to work with and made the process simple. We are thrilled with our kitchen, the design and the quality of the cabinets are superb. I would definitely recommend the DLK team to anyone looking for high quality, custom cabinetry, and I might add that despite being all wood, fully custom construction, the price really was much more reasonable than we anticipated. read more

Design line was the best. They helped me design and get everything picked out, provided reasonable pricing, and even made some helpful suggestions for little nice things I wouldn't even have thought of like a fridge enclosure and slide out bottom shelving. On the day of the install, a platoon of trucks showed up and they banged it out in one day. Everyone had masks on, and when they were done, everything was well cleaned up and perfect looking. I just read many of the low score reviews for DesignLine. I chuckled when reading a few of them and could totally relate to some of the not-so-great comments. Steve is quirky... no doubt about it. But somehow I believe he wants what is best for his customers. You can tell he is stressed out but also a proud and a dedicated craftsman. We worked with Tony to design our kitchen who is now retired. He was a gentleman and a perfect match for us. I never felt pressured or up-sold. I did have an issue with the woman selling us the hardware for the cabinets however. With a bit of pressure, I was able to resolve the problem with her. BTW, she no long works there. The install team really impressed us. Before leaving, the team's supervisor gave suggestions of how to best maintain the wood's beauty. Now six years later, the cabinets still look like new. There are no imperfections, and all are hung perfectly. I can see and feel the difference between these custom made cabinets from others, ie. the weight, the finish, and the functionality. As for some of the in-store employees, yes, some were smug and could make a customer feel insignificant which is a disservice to the company... but I was lucky with Tony. I had my son in Wall Township call DesignLine and my daughter in Red Bank and both were kind-of brushed off. I should mention, this happened during Covid; so to be fair, I would not hold that against the company. All in all, I have to give DesignLine the highest 5 star rating. I enjoy my kitchen everyday and I am thankful I paid to have these fine professionals do the job. Did it cost more than I planned, yes... Was it worth it, absolutely. read more

We used Design Line for mudroom cabinets and a basement bar and couldn't be happier with the results. Everything they did is beautiful!! The whole process from our first meeting with Rene to the installation was easy and stress-free. I had a unique situation - a previous contractor started the basement bar and did an amateur, terrible job, and not surprisingly, disappeared on us with it less than half way built. I called so many companies to see who would be willing to demo the mess he made and build us a new bar. NOBODY wanted to do the work. Until Design Line. My heroes. Rene came over and took a look and measurements and came up with an amazing design, completely changing the layout to a much better and more usable space. I had already spent so much money on appliances and plumbing, etc and she was able to work with what I already had and make the new design accordingly. This meant a lot to me- she really cared about making us happy with the design and working within the parameters I had from the previous bar. And the mudroom she designed is a pure piece of art! She incorporated some design elements I found on Pinterest beautifully. I still can't believe how perfect it came out. I also want to note from reading one of the less favorable reviews on here- while we had a minor hiccup (as to be expected with any construction project!!), Steve the owner immediately got involved and remedied the situation. He even helped months later when I discovered I had to remove a water pump and he cut me a new base to my cabinet. Truly excellent customer service. Purchased a beach house recently in which Design Line manufactured the kitchen cabinets. Unfortunately, the small pantry did not have cabinet doors. I reached out to Design Line so I could have the PERFECT match. I was told by Renee that my job was too small and did not meet the $10,000 minimum. Confused by this minimum order, especially for an existing job, I stopped in and spoke to a salesman two days later. He could not have been more arrogant. Seemed as if my family and I were a bother to him with such a simple request. He smugly told us that the 2-year-old cabinets in our new home were not our purchase, but the previous owners and that the cabinet doors we were looking for could possibly cost $10,000 to meet the minimum. He took our information and told us that he would have the owner, Steve, contact us. It's been over a week and the owner still has not had the decency to give us a call. Sorry my job is not big enough for you. Maybe you should post on your website that there is a minimum order of $10,000 regardless of a new customer or like me just needing additional cabinet doors to match the existing kitchen Design Line manufactured. Shame on you Steve for turning my business away because it is not big enough for you. Must be nice to pick and choose your customers. I can see, without even meeting you or talking to you where your sales rep got his arrogance from. You taught him well! SHAME ON YOU! read more

I was referred to Design Line Kitchens by several people. Unfortunately they all had used and knew of Design Line BEFORE the business was passed down to the family's 3rd generation. This review would take pages and pages to list all that went wrong but some of the most important facts are that the "designer" came and measured, followed by the owner who came and checked and had to redo the measurements. Besides threats from the owner every step of the way, the cabinets took SO much longer than what I was told, the order was wrong because they forgot to order some panels, they drilled holes in drawer panels in the wrong place which meant they AGAIN had to reorder, they ordered enough kick plate to do three more kitchens which they refused to credit back to me. I have text after text and emails after emails and phone call after phone calls by the owner that I eventually had to show to the police. He wanted the remainder of my payment, ($600) even though I was still waiting for the re-ordered panels or he would refuse to come back with his crew threatening that he would park his truck outside my home with a sign for my neighbors to see saying that I don't pay my bills. It was THE WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER GONE THROUGH WITH A CONTRACTOR. RUN! RUN! RUN! THERE ARE PLENTY OF QUALITY KITCHEN CABINET BUSINESSES IN THE AREA TO TEST THESE WATERS.
