Vanessa wrote right back and provided three new options, one of which was the absolutely PERFECT shade of the seemingly ever-elusive teal we had been dreaming about. She took our original scheme (which I put together using the Farrow & Ball website's 'these go together' suggestions) as inspiration, keeping our selected main color (F&B Brinjal), and replacing the ho-hum F&B trim colors with amazing, earthy, sophisticated ones. Then! She shocked and delighted us by proposing GOLD for our rafter tails and bits of trim. She spent a ton of time with us during the consultation, figuring out which color should go where on all the complicated joins at the back of the house. We splashed out for renderings, which was absolutely worth the extra cost--they built our confidence about making such a huge change. (Our fabulous painters -- Jeff and Alex of G&F Painting-- also appreciated the renderings and how prepared we were, btw.) The weekend before painting began, with all the final samples on the side of the house, I noticed that in the morning sun, something was off with our choices. Vanessa kindly made time for a weekend emergency visit and helped us figure out that the main sample was mixed (very) wrong, but the color selections were right. Whew! The end result is beautiful. We get tons of compliments from neighbors and passing dog walkers, and best of all... where before the white box loomed like a lonely cloud, now our home feels so much more cozy and "settled" into the landscape and neighborhood. Our master bedroom closet finally feels spacious and functional and our laundry room is a showplace. We engaged with a salesperson via the website and Laurie quickly contacted us. After a visit to our house, she cranked out 9 different drawings and three different quotes to remake our three bedroom closets and laundry nook. They had a "buy three, get one free" promotion and that made the cost a little more palatable. After seeing the drawings, we went to the SE Portland showroom near the Convention Center and that really helped our decision making. I found it important to view and touch the cabinets and finishes, and we even upgraded to a few amenities after seeing them in person. The best was the retractable ironing board for our Laundry Room. Laurie updated our quotes within 2 business days and we had a decision completed and an installation date scheduled by the end of that week. The single installer was done within 3.5 hours and did a great job. He claimed to have 20 years experience with California Closets and I can believe that by his quality work. Our master bedroom closet went from cramped to relatively spacious. We opted for drawers, some including special dividers for underwear and socks, and included several sliding holders for belts, necklaces and ties.
