Ordered flowers in February for my daughter as she had a baby. They were almost dead. They said it was because of Valentine's Day and redelivered another. Now mid July I had a charge on my card for almost $80 I called and they said they forgot to charge it in February. They never called just ran it. So unprofessional. They caused overdraft fees. Would not recommend!! Didn't have the best experience with this florist. I thought since they were in the neighborhood and local they would be a great choice. I previously used them approximately 4 years ago for a corsage for my son's prom. It turned out nice and I was pleased. Moving forward they were my go to choice so I highly recommended them to my mother for my dad's funeral arrangement. She ordered soft, pastel flowers with white lilies. When I picked up the arrangement the day before the funeral I was highly disappointed in the arrangement with all bright colorful flowers like it was a spring bouquet. I didn't say anything because it was closing time and I didn't want to upset my mother since it was already an upsetting and traumatic situation for the family. The $$ she paid for the arrangement was not worth what she received especially for a funeral. My mother later voiced her disappointment in the arrangement and stated that's not what she asked for not what she expected for her husbands funeral. A few months later I called the florist a ask for a printed itemized receipt that I needed to turn into a company of expenses my mother incurred to pay for my fathers funeral.They originally sent a text receipt. Not friendly or cooperative nor willing to help or accommodate us in anyway. Not willing to write up a receipt or come up with anything I could turn in based on the text receipt I received. Said they couldn't prove I even purchased from them (even with the receipt I had to show them they sent me). She kept trying to get me off the phone I asked to speak to the manager and she was there as well stating the same thing. They brushed me off and refused to help in anyway. Highly disappointed on such unprofessionalism especially from an owner to not accommodate a customer especially at a sensitive time. By the time I stayed on the phone asking for their assistance they could of already had something printed up. It would have taken less than 5 minutes or less to come up with a receipt. Will never use or recommend their services to friends, family, neighbors or anyone in the future. Will actually mention my bad experience with them. read more

Ordinarily, placing a birthday arrangement order in Virginia from 2500 miles away (Los Angeles, CA) is a worrisome task... Picking a shop is a bit like shooting ducks in the dark, you only hope you made the right choice and they get the order right. Well, finding Designs by Janice on Yelp took all that worry away. When I called the store, I had forgotten about the three hour time difference between us and even though the shop was closed, the owner, Janice Davis was still there and took my order. She could not have been nicer, been more accommodating or made it easier. Not a detail was missed.... The bouquet was beautifully artistic and delivered on time exactly as requested. I received an arrangement which had obvious brown roses. I was treated as if I was not telling the truth. They did send another arrangement but it was thrown together and other flowers were brown and wilted even tho this time the roses were fresh. There were actually plastic flowers in this arrangement. I was told by Janice they would come pick it up and they did not. I did not hear back from Janice so I called the next day and was told they could not 'make me happy' and hung the phone up on me. I tried to call back to and they let the call go to a recording which would not take messages. Very poor arrangement, very rude people. read more

Ordered flowers for my daughter for the long weekend after Valentine's Day to avoid the rush and so she could enjoy them over the long weekend, since she can't take flowers to her office. 1. The didn't get delivered on the date specified. 2. That fact didn't stop them from sending me a delivery confirmation. 3. When I didn't hear from my daughter, I had to call her and ask if she got them, blowing the surprise. 4. I responded to the delivery confirmation, asking the flowers be delivered on Friday for the next weekend. But they delivered them on Monday anyway. 5. They assured my local florist, who I'd ordered through, that they would be delivered before noon. They arrived around 2 pm. Need I say more? read more

I called on a Saturday, from the west coast with an urgent need to get a sophisticated floral arrangement for a special occasion. I spoke with Shirley. She was able to create something tasteful and reasonably priced for my discerning and elegant recipient. She took my order over the phone, arranged a special delivery and met all my unusual requirements for height, depth, color, and fragrance. This shop should teach customer service and quality to florists (well maybe to anyone in retail) everywhere. If you order from here, I suggest you call to ensure that it does NOT include fake greenery. I will never order from this florist again. I paid $70 for an arrangement with SIX real flowers (3 red roses and 3 daisies), and FAKE greens. The delivered product was no where near as full as the photo. I listing mentioned that there would be daisies, roses, and carnations, however there were no carnations. I understand there is some variation, however I am extremely disappointed that this included fake greenery and that it was not disclosed that it would include fake greenery in the listing. read more

What a lovely surprise! An absolutely gorgeous floral arrangement was delivered for Mother's Day. The flowers were so fresh and amazingly fragrant. They made the house smell wonderful. This place has terrible customer service. I ordered a bouquet to be delivered to a business for Valentine's Day and I called the morning of to confirm and they said that because they were closed the day before their behind so they couldn't guarantee me being delivered on Valentine's Day and told me that they could do it the day after which is completely pointless. She said that she would give me a refund When they got to it and they did not care that I was canceling my order. This is my first time ordering from them and I will never do it again. It was a simple Valentine's Day bouquet With two balloons. She told me that she could not help me because she did not read the order right and did not know that it was a business that it was being delivered to even though I put that on the order. They were very unprofessional and I refuse to do business with them again. They refused to try to make it work with me to try to deliver it before a reasonable time and just told me that they would get to me when they had a chance. Very unfortunate that small businesses treat their customers like this It also COULD be, because the recipient was an obvious person of color , and from their attitude and unwillingness to make it right seemed like maybe they had a motive. Unsure. Update:: I ended up placing an order through edible arrangements at 1pm & they confirmed delivery would be possible for 4pm SAME DAY. It's unfortunate that this small business gave me such a hard time that I had to resort to a corporate business. Maybe this will be a lesson learned for them to step up their customer service & work harder & better. Maybe think about hiring more people.. read more

A friend ordered BALLOONS for my birthday through an online service which was fulfilled by Flowers by Janice. Delivery was attempted on Monday while I was not home. I received a voicemail from an employee letting me know they attempted delivery and it is now my responsibility to come pick the delivery up from their shop OR I can pay a $12 re-delivery fee. I called to inquire because this is an uncommon practice in my experience in working with florists (and any delivery service for that matter) and was then connected to Janice herself where I simply asked if their delivery driver had any delivery near me to avoid paying a $12 fee. I was told no. The order was placed through a 3rd party who takes a cut of the purchase leaving her with no profit. If she were to redeliver without charging $12 she would lose money. With ZERO profit margin off of flowers, I'm not sure how she stays in business on just delivery fees, but I digress. She then became unprofessional, rude and combative telling me next time it would be better to contact the florist directly. I then suggested eliminating the practice of obtaining business through a 3rd party because she makes "zero profit" or loses money on these transactions. Her response? "I MAKE THOSE DECISIONS!" and then she hung up on me. Another recommendation I'd like to make is to steer clear of this flower shop if you'd like your gifts delivered or prefer to speak with a professional and capable adult. read more

She answered all my novice flower questions and also remained patient while I fumbled around trying to find the delivery address. Speaking of the delivery... I called in the early afternoon and they were able to deliver the flowers on the same day locally. Disappointed. Ordered Deluxe ($20 more) but what we got seems more like basic version. Description of flowers on the site said "10 red roses and four stems of pink oriental lilies in a contemporary vase with a dazzling free-form ring motif. Sure, it's a little extravagant. Think of it as love insurance. The impressive bouquet includes red roses and pink oriental lilies accented with assorted greenery. Delivered in a contemporary glass vase with a sculpted ring design and featuring a weighted base." Arrangement was delivered on time and included 12 roses instead of the 10 advertised which was good. Flowers looked fresh but overall was disappointing. Vase was basic metal and not the "contemporary glass vase" indicated. No greenery and not a design. Was just a bunch of flowers stuck into a vase with very little if any arranging/design and certainly not deluxe. Paid just over $130. My son ordered flowers for his girlfriend for about half the price and was twice as nice. This was the first and likely last time I will use this florist. read more

I hired this florist for my daughters wedding in 2011. Among the MANY problems, the most distressing were the skimpy AISLE flowers (they were to be placed on every other aisle beginning w/ the first row and were placed on the CENTER 8 rows one behind each other with EXPOSED RUBBER BANDS holding them on the church pews). When we tried to move them to every other row, the rubber bands popped leaving the flowers on the floor. When I called Janice's cell to ask her to come back and fix the aisle flowers she insisted it was correct and done per the contract and she was on the opposite side of town setting up for another wedding. She did not want to come back and fix this. She finally did come back, right before the ceremony. The bridesmaid bouquets were not what we asked for and looked terrible, old and droopy. At the reception, I had paid for flowers for every dinner table. There were 3 tables with no flowers at all. The mother of the groom was so embarrassed that the flowers Janice provided for the rehearsal dinner were such "tiny" arrangements. Not at all what she was promised. I could add more to this saga but I will stop here. It's horrible thinking back on the MANY flower snafus. Janice Davis is truly the worst florist. I can not even think back to my daughters wedding without thinking of how horrible and expensive the flowers were. I will never use her again and tell all of my friends whose children are getting married to stay away from Janice Davis. Worst florist ever. read more
