I recently moved into a new town home in Irving in mid 2011. As a single man in my early 40s, I wanted to decorate the place with a sense of my personality, or maybe better put -- I wanted my place to reflect the personality I WANT to have. I decided to do something I've never done before, and utilize the talents of a local interior designer to help me fully decorate my new home. Kira spent time carefully understanding my style, budget, and timeframe to get it all completed. She drew up a plan with milestones every month, building a complete project plan for my project. All these things I would expect of any good designer, but the proof of her real value came in the execution of her plan -- here's where Kira's true value shines. Over the course of several months, Kira scheduled contractors to paint, hang wallpaper, build shutters, perform electrical/audio/video upgrades to my place, and on and on. Kira herself spend countess hours shopping purchasing furniture, decorative items, staging my place, and tediously replacing items that didn't have the proper aesthetic she wanted. She even arranged to have large custom art pieces created to give my place a real customized look and appeal that I could personally identify with. The end result is a home that is absolutely fantastic! She was able to create a place that literally drops the jaws of my guests, and makes friends and family take out their cameras and start snapping photos. And I live there! I can't believe what a great job she did, beating my expectation and obliterating the best I could have accomplished without her. I also realized, when she was wrapping up the bulk of the project, that with her decorator's knowledge and contacts across the city, she saved more than her total design fee. If I decorated my place without help, it would have cost much more and certainly would not been as nice as what Kira was able to accomplish. (I'm not saying you can expect the same level of savings, it all depends on the job, but that's what happened with my project). So all in all, utilizing the talents of Kira for designing and decorating my town home is up there with one of the best services I've ever utilized -- in my entire life. (OK, second to maybe health insurance or something life-critical, but you get the idea...) We hired Kristy to design our new bathroom and bedroom after the Winter freeze flooded the…read morebathroom, bedroom and closet. We had already hired a contractor and then hired Kristy. We had two 45 minute visits with her when she brought over two different tile selections. She then sent a photo from the Ferguson catalog which we ended up not using.She never submitted any design plan to the contractor either. We picked out a slab and paint for bathroom. Unfortunately that is the last we saw or heard from Kristy. The work began in May and I did all the leg work with the construction. She never consulted with the contractor to see how the project was progressing. We had many issues getting product during covid. I work full time but also thought hiring a designer would assist in getting everything done in seamless manner. When I followed up with her she had lost my file and had to come back to my house to retake new pictures. After completion of the project the 2nd week in July of which she has to this day never seen I reached out to her for some sort of refund. She claims she did 40-60 hours of work for me at $250/hour and only charged me $1500. There is no way she did this much work as she took a powder after the initial consult. I would not recommend her services as she is unprofessional and does not deliver on her work.
