Went there to get an alignment and wheels balanced. Guy comes back a while later says they couldn't do the alignment without doing lower ball joints, he had a $900 quote in hand of course. Gullible I am not so I took it to another shop, paid for an inspection and an alignment. Lo and behold, ball joints are perfectly fine. I'll let you come to your own conclusions on that one. Driving just north of Alexandria on I-49 on the way to a Toledo Bend fishing trip, the spring on the axle of the boat trailer I was pulling broke and we were stranded. I got a ride into town from my brother who was following in another vehicle and pulled into Despinos wondering how I was going to get out of this mess. The boss man there, I believe his name was Dave, saw an old fellow in dire straits and immediately told his road mechanic, Samuel, to go get these fellows off the highway. Samuel followed us there and, much to my amazement, managed a temporary "fix" that allowed us to slowly get the boat and trailer to their shop in Alexandria with him following behind to make sure we made it OK. I must have picked the right place because they changed out the spring assembly and had another tire on it in no time. Being an out of towner with few options I could have really been taken advantage of financially. That was not the case at all. I was amazed at how well they took care of me and the charge I paid was VERY fair. Driving through Alexandria on our way to LSU our car started shaking so we stopped at Despinos to have our car checked. Needless to say we felt apprehensive about dealing with someone we don't know. Randall helped us and was professional and courteous. He checked our right away car. The wheel just needed to be balanced. I suffered a tire failure on I-49 going south about 30 miles north of Alexandria. Got to my hotel room late in the evening and called early Friday morning for quote and time estimate to replace two rear tires. Based on what was promised, I arrived around 8:30 AM. New tires were mounted in less than an hour. Staff was very professional, did everything that promised on the phone. Bought a used Ford F-150 from tx and was driving it back to Georgia. Stopped in Alexandria slept the night and decided to get my oil changed next days quickest appointment I found was at this location "despino" they said they cab do oil changes even though they are tire specialist. Took it there for a 30 oil change ended up costing me $550 at ford dealership and $65 towing. They drained my oil at an angle which left a lot of oil in the pan. Next they tried to take my oil filter out yo change it. It was stuck they spend two hours just trying to get it out, they destroyed the filter punching holes through making it nearly impossible to take out without disassembling front end. Not even an apology or offering to pay for towing. Oh I asked what's my oil capacity just to see if they know and they said 7qt even though my truck only takes 6or so. For an oil change just don't do it people. I'm sure their tire service is better but, the shop is not very organized you're going to be waiting a while. A customer burst out i front of me at them for waiting 2+ plus hours on tire change. I had a fantastic stay at alaxendaria 700$ later and leaving 6pm instead of 10am like I planned.
