I've been waiting a few weeks before writing this review because I wanted to live with my hair for a bit and be sure before leaving a review. I had a great experience my first visit to this salon. Kellie, the managing owner colored and cut my hair and it's without a doubt the best color and cut I've ever had. I hesitated when I heard the cost because it's more than I normally spend but now I can confirm that it was worth the cost. I'm very happy with how it turned out and will be going back on my next Destin visit. Very intimate and personal experience. Kellie and her staff are true hair artists and professionals. We are highly disappointed with our experience at Destin Hair Studio. Alongside his patronizing attitude, Owner Ashley Hyer has refused any sort of refund, as he has stated that he "knows the business world" and it is "just not happening". We very kindly and graciously emailed our disappointment to him directly along with photos. We do not trust this salon to fix what they have messed up. The appointment with Joy was a big mistake. My middle school aged sister (the one whose hair was ruined) dealt with peer comments the first day she walked into the school with this hair. She is now at school again worrying about hair that my Amazing friend Maureen Walker is going to color correct for us. (Highly recommend!). After spending 280 on just the service (not including tip) at Destin Hair Studio with Joy on September 19,2022, I feel compelled to warn others who may have high hopes based on other reviews or even just location of this salon. read more

Be careful quote less to get in door then this -Not happy was quoted $300 but yet she charged me $400 and took forever due to her back injury! She never returns calls after I seen charge on statement I called immediately guess time to do credit card dispute! I had my wedding hair and makeup scheduled for our beach wedding. Unfortunately this was changed due to covid although Kellie allowed me to use my deposit for a future visit. I had my hair done for our anniversary trip and family pictures. I had my hair done by Kristine who was wonderful! She was a joy to talk to and listened to what I wanted. Kelly was a disappointment and a mess. Not only did she book my appointment along with 2 other clients at the same time, I had to wait over an hour to find another stylist willing to make a real appointment for me. All that time, Kelly let me sit there and watch her do another clients hair during my appointment time. And then another client for Kelly walked through the door. Kelly didn't even look my direction or offer an form of apology, she ignored me. She either cannot figure out how to schedule clients appropriately or she is a mean person with a terrible attitude. My wife went there to get her hair and makeup done for our wedding. She waited almost 20 minutes to get her hair done. The lady was a little rude. Her hair turned out great. She asked for a nude looking makeup look and showed the other lady a picture and gave her a smoky black eye for her wedding. She was really upset after the lady finished her makeup. $$$$$ Over charged. Salon charged me $250.00 for a cut and color. My stylist pleasant enough but one of the stylist Made the comment that they are Sick of Tourist and Don't Care Who Knows It. (She is one who decided on my hair service price). I would recommend to get your price for a services upfront especially if your a vacationer. This time i will also have to go home and get this cut redone... which can happen anywhere...my hair looks like she forgot to finish the left side. When I moved to Destin, I started my search for a new hair salon. There are so many options and I really wanted a place with good vibes in addition to a great stylist. After reading tons of reviews, I booked with Christina V. at Destin Hair Studio. On my first visit, Kelly, the owner, made me feel so welcome and I just love her salon. It has a cool vibe and is just very cozy and inviting. Christina was fabulous and worked wonders on a color correction (from my previously botched highlights) and got my blonde back where I wanted it. Even at platinum blonde, she keeps your hair healthy. It also felt more like catching up with a friend than getting my hair done because she is just fun and very down-to-earth. I've seen her several times since and am always super happy with my hair (both color & cut). I recently went a bit darker and absolutely love the layers of color she achieved. I've been going to Kellie for about 5 years. And she has made an amazing difference in the way my hair looks and feels. On my first visit I had tried to highlight my hair at home. And the result of the color was orange. I called the salon and Kellie worked me in that day. A true savior!! I got my nails done at Harbor Nails that morning and asked if they knew of a good hair stylist who can do a wash and blow dry on my curly hair for a wedding. They recommended Kellie and so I called her and I was in luck! She squeezed me in to her busy schedule and was great! So friendly, her salon is chic, clean with modern decor and she had the latest hot products that celebrities are using and salons down the street don't have.
