Amazing dinner and service tonight! Melissa was our server and she was incredibly friendly & attentive. My husband had the salmon special, and I ordered the rosemary chicken--both were fantastic. We started with the spinach dip appetizer and finished with a delicious turtle cheesecake for dessert. Since it was our anniversary, we also enjoyed a few drinks--hands down, the Dr. Phillip cocktail is a must-try! We loved the music & atmosphere as well. We had ate here a couple times over the years before the name was changed. I have to say it's even better then it was. When we walked in we sat ourselves and were greeted quickly. We both ordered cocktails and perused the menu and made our choices. I ordered the Anasazi burger cooked medium with fries she got the ruben sandwith with chips and salsa. My burger was slightly overcooked but had a great flavor and the fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Her ruben had fantastic flavor with lots of meat and cheese with a flavorful dressing that tasted house made. Overall this was a great dinner and one we would come back for. read more

Smelled delicious from the hotel parking lot...but it was disappointing! We ordered 2 tasteless cheeseburgers (1 of which was supposed to have bacon. Oh...it had a piece of bacon...yes! A piece so small my husband had to lift the bun and search for it!) We ordered fries as our side. How can anyone mess up French fries???? They were soggy and I assume that the oil they fried it in was not hot enough and it was OLD. Yuck! The reviews said they offer a veteran discount, but apparently, the new owner doesn't offer it. This restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel, so it qualified as a dinner contender. It was also the only restaurant within walking distance of our hotel, so that made the decision simple. We were told to choose any seat. The bar was full. First table was bussed, but not cleaned, second table the seat stuck out into the doorway that leads from the entrance into the dining room and the table appears to be bolted to the wall so we can't fix that. Third table was the charm. Once we got ourselves situated menus and water were brought. Wrapped flatware is on the table. After some conversation (beers on draft, etc.) we placed a drink order. I ordered a vodka soda with a top shelf liquor because I have many food sensitivities and the cheap stuff makes me flush. The drink was very strong and based on my reaction, made with their well vodka. Our waitress was excellent. Friendly, kept an eye on us, made suggestions. The food was good. The Reuben was just what you would expect. No twist, just a solid Reuben. The fish tacos description says they are spicy. I found them to be sweet. They are tasty. Nice combination of textures and flavors. My Ceaser salad had too much dressing for my taste. Although the flavor of the dressing was good the greens had wilted before I could finish. I must remember to request 'lightly dressed'. Located on a busy road, plenty of parking available. The interior is very nice and they offer outdoor seating on the deck. read more

Since then, I come to Cortez every other week, and I've gone from eating at Destination Grill once a week to twice a week to most nights of the week that I'm here! Really pleasing place to dine. Inside is spacious, quite nice with a surprisingly pretty view out the handsome patio, leafy trees, over the plateau to the east. Service was friendly and prompt. Food was all good. Not particularly special, but tasty, well prepared, and also not bland, as other dinner places in these parts so often can be. The menu included a few steaks, a "Korean BBQ bowl", pozole, Rueben sandwich, burgers, salads. After reading the reviews, I had reservations about trying this place for the first time. However, knowing how subjective reviews can be I decided to give Destination Grill a try. First observation, they source produce and meat locally. I ordered a Rooster Burger (requested medium) and a local beer. The burger was cooked on an actual grill, and arrived textbook medium. I was amazed at just how delicious the beef was, and how balanced the flavors and textures were in the burger. The ciabatta bun held up to the juiciness without falling apart or being too tough or hard. The fries were crisp outside and tender inside and were served with their own spicy ketchup. The indoor dining area is open and daylit, with equal seating on their outdoor deck. The décor is simple and tastefully done. Service was prompt, pleasant and attentive. Location is convenient, and a short walk away from two of the hotels in Cortez. Because of the amazing local beef used, this was HANDS DOWN the best and most naturally flavorful burger I have ever eaten (and I've had some good ones in my lifetime). read more

Delicious food, amazing staff, great restaurant!! The staff was super friendly and accommodating. One of our kiddos cannot have gluten and he helped us find something he could eat. We had the Korean BBQ Rice Bowls, Ruben, Fish Tacos and burgers. The food was amazing!!! At the end of the meal we wanted desserts and he was hoping for ice cream. Our waiter let us know it was not on the menu, but he worked up some magic and brought him some ice cream they found! It was an amazing experience all the way around. What a find after covid. I could smell the wonderful outdoor grill from our hotel room next door, looked up their menu, and told my husband that we were having dinner here that night after our fab foray to Mesa Verde National Park sans crowds. I loved my pineapple drink and my husband loved his moscow mule which appeared immediately.Our outdoor table service was incredible, all masked and pleasant. A fellow diner was shamed by the table next door for not wearing her mask to go to the toilet, as it should be. Do not want an excellent restaurant like this to get in to trouble! My grilled romaine lettuce salad with fresh parmesan was delicious, as were our perfectly grilled shishito peppers appetizer. Stayed at the Hampton Inn and they recommended this place. Boy were they on point! We had the white chili and the rooster burger. They were both excellent and packed with amazing flavor. The burger had a wonderful combination of flavor! We also shared the warm butter cake for dessert. I have to say that the guys cooking outside on the grills made the dining experience for us too! Took my family here on vacation. Ordered food and specifically told them I have a specific food allergy. They topped my food with what I am allergic to. I sent my food back. My wife and kids ate their food and 45 minutes later, my food isnt out. I asked for the check and to cancel my order. Manager argued with me that I didnt tell them I had a food allergy insisting I pay for a meal I never received. Two other guests even spoke up that they heard me tell them of my food allergy. At this point I said to take it off the check and they finally did while saying I was rude. Again I told her I did not get my meal and Im not paying for a meal not served to me. It seems nice inside, no complaints there really; although I disagree immensely with it being one of the best. To test the waters, I ordered a cup of posole, but sorry, I meant, chicken noodle soup. The amount of salt, no cilantro, chili, onions, or any simple basic spices for posole were in it. Salt was a common issue for my family and friend who also joined me there, as they refused to finish their meals, not to mention the hair found in a chicken quesadilla? It's just Okay. We gave it a second chance and I doubt we will return. A very boring menu that's easy to prepare. I can make that food at home. I like finer dining and this is more of a burger sandwich place with a few nicer basic dinner entrees. I had a good simple Salmon dish but didn't want to order Salmon or Steak, I can make that myself. There just wasn't much of interest. One time we ordered their ribs. They were nice but not special with a bunch of cheap BBQ sauce on top. Their Brussel sprouts were good, not great. They have mexican dishes for appetizers like chips & salsa, and some others. There are about 7-8 Mexican restaurants in this little city.. I get that all the time & want something different. So I ordered shashito peppers. Super easy to make, simple snack but good. It was the only thing of interest. I just wish places like this had better chefs. They would get a consistent business from us and we enjoy dining & spending at restaurants.. if they are good. I asked for bread & butter. We had ordered wine, appetizer, salad and entree. They said bread is a cut in half hamburger bun & would be an extra $2. Not cool. We did not get dessert as planned because we didn't feel like giving them any more of our money. Bummer. read more
