    Black bear cocktail

So the initial plan was to go further into town and get burgers, but the other burger spot was closed due to schedule changes. We had driven past the steakhouse on the way to get burgers and decided to stop in. I will note that my group was a bit underdressed, but that didn't seem to be a problem. We spent all day out in the wilderness and so a fancier steakhouse wasn't exactly the plan, but definitely worth it. I ordered the burger and it was a really good burger. I also tried one of the craft cocktails, which I believe was called a black bear. it was blackberry and whiskey, super good. We also ended the evening with the brownie, which was really good too. It's definitely on the higher end for a small mountain town, but it was worth checking out. From what I understand they recently remodeled the building and this is a new restaurant.

Ambiance does not fit the neighborhood. Food is mediocre. Bar short on liquor selection. Service below par.

Staff was excellent. The pasta was great but the steak and lobster was meh, very disappointing. Cool place but for the price, it's a pass

We looked for a lunch spot via Yelp on our way home from Telluride…read more Yelp did it again. Loungin' Lizard will be our go to every time we pass through Cortez in the future. We walked in and were immediately greeted by one of the bartenders and told to sit wherever we liked. We found a nice booth off to the side of the bar area. Our server Patrick stopped by the booth and pointed us to the food menu in the chalkboard. We also had another server but I didn't catch her name. They were both very friendly and attentive. I ordered the special for the day. A green chili Rueben & fries. Wow, this sandwich was so delicious! What a creative combination of flavors. Even the slaw in the Rueben included the green chilis. The fries were hot and crispy. My husband ordered the spicy BBQ pulled pork tacos. He said the tacos were amazing and the flavors were off the charts. They were topped with a slaw and pickles. The side of "tortilla chips" had a dusting of a very flavorful spice. Not sure what it was but very tasty. Looking over the menu, this restaurant has some very creative dishes. We can't wait to stop by again! My husband ordered

Quality food. Nice atmosphere…read more Horrible service. Having frequented this place many times, I'm always amazed at the painstaking lengths that the owner went to provide a pleasant dining experience, good food, high quality ingredients, and a pretty excellent value relationship-- Only to hire incompetent servers. Tonight I was placed alone next to a window, with the server barely spending more than 10 seconds waiting on me--in 50 minutes. Instead, he doted over all of the large groups in my vicinity, promised me a refill on the iced tea, watched me sit there waiting for 30 minutes for a refill, and never provided such. You got it. When I was handed the electronic payment machine...Yupp... he literally stares me down like a back alley shakedown artist. In addition to wearing a scuzzy unkept beard, not advisable for food servers, right?, he actually seems visibly upset when I gave him 16% tip, even asking me "was something wrong?" I know that we are in a small town, and Durango is feeling its growing pains, transitioning from a mountain/railroad rural tourist haven to a high profile mountain resort. But this was so obvious, that it ruined the experience. The burger was well executed and had a nice patina, offering a rewarding crunchy patty exterior. The marinade the patty was placed in was great as well. The bun was high quality and so too was the blue cheese and fried onion strings.
