Destined for Grace is my absolute favorite thrift store. I find something every time I go and sometimes have to hold myself back because they have so many treasures! The staff is wonderful and I will always be a supporter of their mission. They started a school in Haiti and the proceeds go to the school and students. The store is very clean and the staff is very helpful. They have two stores in Goleta across the street from each other and used to have a location in Carpinteria, which I miss. Thank you! read more

I was bummed that the thrift store before this closed down because the parking lot has many spaces and is very accessible. The other thrift shops on the other side of Hollister are great, but it's hard to get a parking spot if it is crowded. I love the selection they have here! So many racks of clothes, home goods, and jewelry. I was excited for the $2 rack right when you walk in. There are some awesome trendy finds for so cheap! Some good stuff very occasionally. 5 dollars for plain and worn Gildan tees is wild for a thrift though. Selection is a wide array but not too many racks. Anything remotely "vintage" even Y2K stuff gets treated with ebay prices. However what's more wild is allowing their employees to buy before the items are put out, they have cubbies in the back where they can put items they find while working that they want, you can see it happening while you shop Its not a huge deal but it just seems like people should know that the thrift is overpicked even before the racks get loaded up. read more

Have been able to visit this store twice, while vacationing in the area and have found a few gems. The place is well organized and the employees are friendly enough (my only critique is they tend to be caught up in their own conversations any time anyone approaches the counter and its this awkward waiting game). I have found some really cool eclectic stuff ranging from antique architectual pieces to vintage 80s toys, prices are fair, they obviously price knowing they can ask a bit more for cool stuff but its their buisness so I get it. As a crafter I appreciate realistic prices on supplies such as knitting needles and yarn. I LOVE that they organize clothes by size. Parking lot is clean. I'd absolutely make it a point to come by again if I'm in the area. read more

I am in love with this store! I sent pictures of a Barbie little girl Escalade for 100 to a buddy with two little girls under 5. So cute! Got a Cuisinart stainless 4 cup coffeemaker sold at Nordstrom Rack for 39 for 4.99! A great long Urban Outfitters wrap dress, indigo, for 7.99. I also got three CDs, a buck apiece. They have some real art (100 bucks, not prints). Tons of fans and vacuums, too. I will be back this week. The clothes are higher end than across the street. I spent only 10 or 15 minutes but I will return often. read more

I'm a thrift store addict. Just visited these sister stores today. Big selection, well organized. Love both stores. However, they attach their prices with a double staple which I dread. Sure enough. Although I removed the staples with great care, I as left with a little hole in my pretty blouse :( Really, there must be a better way to price clothing without risking a hole. I'm glad I only bought one clothing item and will not buy other cloth items there as I really don't want to risk holes which are almost always left by the staples and especially the double staple. Otherwise, great stores and lots of fun to rummage through. read more

I enjoy coming to this thrift store when I'm in Goleta. Right off the 101 it's a little tricky to jump into the parking lot but at least they have one so you don't have to park on the street. They have some furniture and some clothes, but I come here for the decorative items which often include vintage and antique stuff for reasonable prices. The staff has always been friendly and helpful for me and they have a decent selection of shoes too. I found an armful of stuff I just had to buy when I visited last Saturday and can't wait to go again. Four stars overall - would be five if the location was bigger and had more stuff. But it's SB so you take what you can get. :) read more

I read some of the reviews on Yelp and am FLABBERGASTED. I have never had a bad experience here. The staff are so sweet and helpful. I think some people just like to write mean things. Some lady even wrote that just because a staff was around her, the lady assumed she was being ratially profiled! As if! What on Earth makes people jump to such assumptions?! The staff here are super helpful and always helpful. They go way beyond to help and their organization really is noble. The shop is clean and orderly and they have some Amazing finds. Some of their furniture items are a bit more expensive, but you get what you pay for as some are almost new or very gently used and an additional exceptional treasure chest of a find!!! Keep up the good work guys and don't let anyone's mean negativity stop the beautiful charity work you do. God bless! read more

I love this place, I never leave without finding something I'm really stoked about. They have above-average stuff for a thrift, including clothing (and lamps, for some reason), and even if the price is a dollar or two higher than the Magnolia Center, it's still super reasonable. **************WARNING****************** Do not shop here unless you have a very deep wallet. Prices are more expensive than Saks fifth Avenue. They place is a joke $300 for an old dirty rug. I don't know how they are still in business. The staff is now very friendly either! Would not recommend. Business owner says try Walmart at least Walmart's stuff doesn't smell like rotten eggs. Destined for Profit. Don't let the name fool you this is a high end resale boutique disguised as a non profit thrift store. The prices are as high or higher than retail or eBay prices and often they are flawed or not tested or in the condition that those prices would warrant. This store appeared to start out with good intentions many years ago and then the greed factor got the best of them. I'd like to know where and how much this thrift store gives to charity because now it is million dollar a year business and there is no mention of the charity end of things. Give your donations to a different charity thrift, one that doesn't gauge the public and the money gets put to good use. read more

I found this thrift store when I was displaced after losing everything in the 2018 Woolsey Fire. It was a veritable treasure chest of fine quality household items at bargain prices with a mostly friendly and helpful staff. Over the next 4 years we've watched it morph into a crazy popular thrift store with pretty high prices and leaning more and more to only clothing. I stopped by this week... I come up from Los Angeles once a month and this week found tens of cars circling the lot and the block looking for parking. Inside the two stores it was just as busy. Unfortunately for me, who is starting to furnish the rebuilt house, the two stores are now 95% clothing and 5% everything else and no large pieces of furniture. I asked the older woman behind the counter at the smaller store what happened and she explained that their volunteers were getting hurt handling the heavier furniture and that the pieces didn't move quickly. I am so sorry for this change! I was so pleased that DFG served a dual purpose of helping Haitian school kids AND keeping beautiful furniture out of our landfills stateside. When I was shopping for furniture even last year, if I didn't grab a piece immediately, it wasn't there the following week. So if things aren't moving it's just a reflection of clueless pricing because certainly in 2019 furniture flew out the door. One last comment... at the small store behind the counter, were a young woman and an older woman. The older woman was friendly and helpful and crazy busy. The younger woman seemed more engaged in her laptop than her surroundings and was downright snotty in dealing with me and a young man who had just clocked in. Maybe her parents have her in the store to learn how to interact with others but with that ever-alluring technology available, she can hide behind it and she remains pretty unpleasant to deal with. read more

All I have to say is that I barely walked into this store, and started looking at the vintage jewelry and an older Caucasian female immediately started paying close attention to me. I then naturally wandered to the vinyl adjacent to the register, and she was slowly creeping on next to me..as if I had intentions of stealing from a thrift store (of all places!) I am college educated, have a career, am a local and HALF HISPANIC/HALF CAUCASIAN MYSELF! I was absolutely appalled by her racial profiling! How disgusting when Goleta and Santa Barbara CLEARLY has Hispanic roots! I could've easily purchased anything I wanted, definitely not an issue--but why give my funds to a shop who treats anyone this why? I just wanted the local area to know and be aware that this older woman will profile you and assume you are poor because you are tan or Hispanic!! read more

I was surprised by the way I was treated during my experience here. As I waited by the counter to complete my purchase, I was rudely shrugged off by an older lady behind the counter. I waited quietly and being the only one in line, I noticed the that she was ignoring me. (Note that she was gladly helping other customers before I approached the counter). Finally, she rang me up without saying a word, besides the amount of my purchase, and left my items on the counter without bagging them. I asked for a bag and she placed it on top of the clothing items and walked away. Being a local, I've rarely experienced any racial discrimination. But this was definitely evidence of that. read more

The clothes selection is fairly small, but they have decent stuff. I saw a lot of brand names like American Eagle, Element, Von Dutch, etc and it's all fairly priced--typical thrift store prices. TBH, I feel like the real wow factor about this thrift store is the furniture. They have a lot of quaint vintage gems. If I had lived in the area, I would have definitely bought multiple pieces. The other cool part is that they sell mason jars. Probably not food safe anymore, but if you're planning to head to the beach, you can buy one to collect shells. read more

This place deserves some praise simply because they are more reasonably priced than the competition. Realistically, the main competition are the Alpha thrift stores which are often above retail, but this place has good prices, decent selection and even decent parking. Perhaps people are just more down to earth the closer you get to Goleta, but service is quick and polite and prices are reasonable. I got a 2 Disc Pixar DVD for $2.50, a paperback for $1 and kids shovel for $2. I'll probably be back. read more

Best thrift store on Hollister!! There are multiple thrift shops on this street but this one is 100% the best. They have so many brand names such as North Face, Tommy Hilfigure, Forever 21, Lane Bryant and more! Its also crazy cheap, $2-$4 for shirts and I buy at least 7+ every time i go because they're selection is always on point! Not to mention the owners have built and funded two schools in Haiti for children K through 12!!! BEST thrift store in town!! For my wife has never convinced me to visit any thrift stores, BUT I I did go to Destined for Grace, and I must say it is a great store. They have really interesting stuff and the prices are great! Plus, an employee at the Goleta store named Amy turned my opinions of thrift stores completely.
