I had a nice pair of diamond stud earrings that I don't wear because I prefer the dangling style, so I brought them in to have an appraisal. The owner Alejandro was very courteous and helpful. He showed my daughter and me lots of cute styles of jewelry in his store. I ended up leaving with 2 sets of earrings & necklaces and my daughter got 2 necklaces and earrings. I went in to have a loop on my necklace changed from an oval to a circle. It took the guy less than one minute and I was shocked when he said the charge was going to be $25.00!!! I have been there before to buy a ring guard and he only charged me $10.00 for the ring guard and he put it on my ring. TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS IS WAY TOO MUCH to just change the fastener loop on a necklace! Always ask what the charge is going to be BEFORE proceeding with the work... Replacing a watch battery does not happen very often but when you need it done it can be a real pain. Went to the the jewelry mart on my lunch break hoping I could get it done. I was so happy to give this place my business! To be honest, I was headed to a watch shop that was temporarily closed so googled watch battery replacement and this popped up. I was already close so gave it a whirl. Parked in the back and do not recall the gentleman's name who helped me but I had 3 watches needing batteries and he was upfront about one costing more to replace because of what is required to access the battery. He replaced 2 batteries and I'm still deciding about the other one. I had a chain that needs saudering and got a quote on that. I had a ring that needed saudering-gave me a quote. Oh! On one of my watches, the lizard band was still in good shape but the "gold" clasp was discolored. We solved that problem for very little cost and it feels like brand new. I'd go back. read more

HORRIBLE!!! No stars. My ring was ruined. went to get it resized and it was also shrunken and damaged. The agate from the back of the ring was removed. One of the worst experiences I have had and100% the worst experience at a jewelry store. My fiance had my engagement ring custom made at the Jewelry Mart, and it is so incredibly perfect. He had the diamond from his great-grandmother's ring and worked with Jon to design a ring based on the (copious) advice I had given him on what I like. I wasn't in on this whole planning process, but it seemed like my fiance had been having a hard time finding a jeweler that would make a custom antique-looking ring, and Jon stepped in to save the day! He incorporated all the things I loved most on other rings into one unique, beautiful, intricate ring. I still can't get over how awesome it is! I also had the ring resized there and the service was great. We were in Santa Barbara for only a few days over Christmas, so Jon said they'd likely have to hold onto it longer than that in order to redo all the filigree and milgrain on the band after sizing it down (or give it back to me with a flat space on the band). However, the other jeweler whose name I didn't catch (but I think it must have been Alejandro) resized it that day and preserved all the details on the band, so you can hardly see where it was resized. I had my ring back within a few hours of dropping it off. Talk about excellent service! Everyone there was very friendly and upfront, which was great. Alejandro Jr. (the son of the owner with the same name), came to my rescue when the battery in my Moto 360 Gen2 smartwatch died and Motorola has stopped supporting this device. I was able to purchase a new replacement battery on eBay, but instructions for how to perform the replacement function sounded more complicated that I was comfortable attempting myself. Alex Jr. took on the task for me for a very reasonable price and very quick turnaround, and now the watch is back to working great! The total cost for the battery and his work came out to $20 less (and MUCH quicker) than Motorola had been charging customers in the past for the same job. I'm thrilled that I didn't have to retire an expensive and well-liked watch due to battery loss. Highly-recommend for watch repairs and their inventory of jewelry is also pretty nice. read more

I came into The Jewelry Mart to get my watch fixed recently. I came here first because of its stellar reviews on Yelp. Perhaps I should have paid more attention to Steven A's review. A piece of the watch had fallen off inside of it and had become lodged in between the spokes of one of the gears. I was immediately greeted by a young woman upon entering. I described the problem to her in detail. She took the watch to the back, and I followed her to the counter. So far, so good. After a moment, an older man came out from the back. He was looking the watch over carefully and briefly shook it violently. He then told me that it was not worth it to fix the watch. I was surprised that he either had ignored his assistant or hadn't found the piece which was lodged in the gear. I repeated my statement to him about the piece lodged in the gear, and only after manhandling the watch and its band some more did he notice it. He asked me to leave the watch with him so that he could open it and remove the piece. I asked when it would be done, and he said that he had a backlog of work and would get to it when he could. I then asked if he thought it would be done today and he snapped back with something like, "Well, I'm not going to just do it for you right here while you wait." (paraphrased). I was surprised at how rude he had been, not just with this comment but the entire time, so I took the watch with me. After all, I was worried that he wouldn't make an effort to correctly fix it (or worse, ignore the actual problem with the watch), since he seemed to have either ignored, forgotten, or was unable to find the problem before. I was half-afraid that he'd try to prevent me from leaving somehow because he seemed quite angry at this point, but I was thankfully able to exit without further incident. Anyway, I would definitely stay away from The Jewelry Mart and its poor notion of customer service. read more

I called ahead to make sure they could do watches the same day, which they can, and when I arrived they did the batteries in about 3 minutes. The fee is $10 per watch which I think is very reasonable. They definitely weren't conversationalists, but they got the job done quickly and the price was right. I will be back. Brought in 2 watches, 2 weeks ago. One to get the battery replaced, the other to remove a link. The older man helped me with the link which should be no easier than the battery replacement. When I had my battery replaced, they said it was hard to take the back off (probably due to the good quality of the watch) The younger guy came to give me my watch w/ the battery replaced & to my surprise, the hour mark silver bars had fallen off and alerted me that it was because the glue holding them had worn off. Mind you, it's a Guess watch & he didn't tell me before... Perhaps because I had given it to him in perfect condition other than minor scratches on the wrist part. Let's not forget that it was hard to take off and I'm sure him prying it off didn't cause that to happen (sarcasm). And if it was the glue, why didn't it "wear off" before I got there? I'm only giving 2 stars for the older helpful man. read more

They repaired my silver puzzle ring while I waited. The price was reasonable, but the best part is you can't tell where the ring loop was previously broken! The store has a lot of very nice and interesting pieces (the various opals stood out). So I have to give them credit for not laughing at my cheapo silver ring. I went in for a simple watch resizing. It was 15 dollars which was a bit pricey for a simple resize, but I was fine with it. I came home and the entire watch fell apart in my hands and I had to do the resizing myself. Very sloppy workmanship. Moreover, the watch was still loose and I wanted it to be smaller and they convinced me to keep it bigger because they didn't want to take out another link. I will have to get it resized again to fit me properly. Never coming here again. read more

When it came time to pay for my ring Jon unexpectedly gave us a significant discount. The Jewelry Mart is an honest and openly communicative business. I was kept in the loop the entire time which eased the anxiety of such a significant purchase. I know Jon worked hard at finding me the highest quality diamond in my price range.
