My husband and I bought a new Tesla Y and we were considering to have some sort of wrap or coating for protection but did not know much about the different options between just applying a ceramic coating only, vinyl wrap or applying the PPF (Paint Protection Film). We came across Detail Union on Yelp with all 5 star reviews and called to inquire. Joel was very knowledgeable and took the time on the phone to explain the differences. We were very impressed by him over the phone and stopped by the next day to check out the facility which is all covered and super clean. At this point, we were leaning towards the PPF, ceramic coating & tint and Joel showed us a few nice cars being worked on, he pointed out details on how they would wrap all around edges using HIGHLY Modified Computer Cut - Ext Edges, remove emblems and replace on top of film when applying a full car wrap (by the way, they use XPEL which is superior over 3M with self heating abilities). Employees working on the cars all have to go through at least 6 months of training before they are allowed to work on any customers' car. An official written quote was provided to us which was reasonably priced. The following day, we visited another place in Altadena which had decent yelp reviews but the facility is no where comparable to Detail Union, this place only had a one-car covered garage space and a few cars parked outdoor. The owner also took the time to speak with us and provided only a verbal quote but we were not impressed overall. We decided to have our car wrapped by Detail Union and decided last minute to add a "Level 4 Stealth" just so our car would look slightly different from all other Tesla Ys out on the street. Sure enough, we are super happy with the way it came out. The workmanship is impeccable!!! On the day of pick up, they perform an overall quality inspection before releasing the car. Upon pick up, there were a few areas with very tiny bubbles which is a normal process and a follow up appointment was set for 2 weeks later to smooth everything out which took another hour to do. Joel also provided tips and information on how to care for the car going forward. We are planning to purchase another vehicle in the near future and will definitely go to Detail Union again. Joel is awesome and Chris (the GM) is absolutely professional, these guys are super cool people and friendly! For the job we had done, they worked on it for a full week and there's limited spots available on the number of cars they will work on per week as they really take their time on working each car with great care and detail. I gave them a call to schedule an appointment. A friendly guy named Joel picked up to answer any questions that i had and guided me through the whole process. Windshield, Front side windows and roof Tint Speed: Total turnaround time - 4 days. These guys go overtime to make sure things are done correctly. Tesla alerted me after 10pm and I can tell from my doors opening and closing, the guys are still working diligently on my car! Cost: shod·dy /SHädē/ -adjective-- badly made or done. The Word shoddy comes to mind when things are poorly; in other words, you are getting ripped off if you pay for more than the price deserves. The price at Union Detail is not the same as your best second cousins garage tint-job-shop, it is rather on the higher end of the spectrum. With higher cost, my expectation of course was indeed exponentially elevated. The result as exceptionally quality work! They really stretched (Sorry for the pun, it is intended) every dollar bill I paid in their work! Very happy with the result! This elated feeling of a fresh wrap sheen on a brand car is emotionally overwhelming and for this, it is so worth it! Quality: Exceptional. 1 year update/review: Got the silver package, front PPF and tint on my 2020 STI. The coat and PPF has held up better than I thought and is still like brand new every time I wash. Joel is the man and his crew are absolute professionals. The PPF has saved me a few times from some rock chips. Got the full package on my 2015 STI. Complete wash down with CERAMIC PRO finishing. Car was in rough shape since it was sitting for awhile, it even accumulated some cob webs under the car. Got the car looking like new again! It was surreal feeling the butter smooth paint correction done to the car. To be honest, I've never felt the car this smooth. It came out crispy clean. Spot on interior cleaning as well as the fresh new roof wrap. The car had a roof wrap that was baked on for 3 years, it was tough to remove but they made it work! Not many detailers are hyped on working with 4x4's. Dirt/mud is baked on the exhaust and plastic trim, dust in every conceivable nook and cranny. The paint is hammered with desert pinstripes, and there's usually dents and dings from rock kisses. I contacted Detail Union to see if they could attack my interior, engine bay, and fender wells with a deep steam clean. They gave my truck a basic wash, then went to town with the steam. They got all the AC vents, trim seams, carpet, fender wells and engine bay as clean as can be. I specifically requested no dressing or in-depth detail on the engine. I was super impressed with how my truck came out. I will definitely be bringing it back to Detail Union for it's next deep clean. East Lin and I went back and forth for weeks about my car. He promised me rock touch up and interior detail and ceramicpro for the interior in addition to the kavaca wrap. Well I give them the car and 3 weeks goes by with little interaction to let me know what was going on. Apparently East (the owner) was on vacation and they had wrapped my car without addressing the rock chips. He then tried to charge me for the rock chip repair (which was supposed to be included) saying that I hadn't paid for it. After much back and forth, he reluctantly agreed to fix the rock chips but would need another week. (It's a month at this point). They returned to car to that following week. There were bubbles all under the wrap, the mirror was peeling and so was the door. This wrap job was terrible. The rock chips were still visible and looked very very hastily addressed... They asked me to drive the car back to them so they could touch the wrap up. So I did, and I waited there about an hour. The kid working on my car let me know that east was rarely there (if ever). I was then notified that the staff at detail union had gouged my mirror with a razor. They retouched up the wrap (which is now peeling again) and sent me home. I now have a car that has a wrap that is peeling, a razor gouge in the mirror and I'm thousands poorer. DONT BRING YOUR CAR HERE. UPDATE: They tried to have my mirror repaired. The shop selected to do the repairs was selected by East Lin. I was scheduled to show up tuesday (5/19/2020) for the repair but it was rescheduled by East last minuted to Wednesday 5/20/20 because the shop East had selected "Was not ready". I show up and the mirror they tried to have installed on my car was orange pealed, poorly painted and was mismatched to the color that is already on the car. An hour there and an hour back to retain my damaged mirror. read more
