I recently visited Detwiler's Farm Market and was thoroughly impressed. The store was clean, well-stocked, and full of fresh produce and groceries. I especially appreciated the variety of local vendors and products available throughout the market. I also stopped by the deli and tried both the meatball sub and Italian sub, and they did not disappoint. The portions were generous, flavorful, and incredibly filling. The fresh lemonades were a great addition as well. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the Detwiler's cookies were another highlight of the visit. Overall, it was a fantastic shopping experience, and I've officially become a fan. I'll definitely be back! read more

This is a different type of grocery store,it feels more like a mix between a Sam's / Costco and Whole Foods all combined in to one store. The building it self is pretty large and wasn't expecting to walk in to a store with so much to see and samples in every corner you turn plus a bakery with danish and croissants sold in singles or packs,everything in the bakery looked delicious! There is a lot of product here you probably won't find in other areas of Florida but you can also find a lot of the same stuff at Publix. When I came to this store on a Tuesday afternoon there was a lot of people shopping here. They lay out is the same as most stores but what is unique is the bakery is to the left when you walk in and the bakery offers a lot of pastries like danish and croissants in their case for single purchases and also already packed. I had never visit this specific chain store and after doing some research I out these stores are only in Manatee and Sarasota county's. Very unique store with some different varieties but also keep and eye on some items , I wouldn't buy cleaning products here or body care items as those can be found for a better price at Publix and often BOGO but some other items like candy's in packaging toward the produce área was interesting they also offer a wide variety of cut fruit. Beware if you don't like seafood the smell starts to sneak on you as soon as you get to the produce área and it's pretty strong. Costumer service here doesn't come close to like at Publix but overall a store to look at if you are near one in any of the the two county's they are in. Four stars,why? because of the strong odor of fish and I felt like the store didnt have enough space for costumers to get around ,to many displays of products in the middle off the aisle. read more

What a cool grocery shopping experience . All of the fresh produce and opportunities to eat while there are amazing (deli, sub shop, bakery, coffee, ice cream, açaí bowls, soups, etc.). The store was absolutely packed but the selection was amazing with signage everywhere of new things to try. It was kind of like a mix between a Sam's Club with all the samples, Trader Joe's with the specialty snacks, and the local farmers market. As a first timer I was a little overwhelmed but I can't wait to try it again. While I was there I tried their lobster roll and it was really good. So fresh! read more

After dinner, we swung by the Amish grocery store to pick up a few items, but the main reason for our visit was some of their ice cream. Apparently this spot is well known for service some great, locally made ice cream. Like any grocery store, they offer produce, meats, seafood, refrigerated and frozen items, canned and bagged goods, everything you'd expect, but much of which is locally sourced items, and all at great prices. They offer a good variety of ice cream flavors, and allow sampling. After sampling the cookie monster, it made up my mind. Cookies and cream ice cream with cookie dough...oh yeah! Pricing on the ice cream was amazingly low compared to what I'm used to. A single scoop, which was rather large, and more than sufficient was only $2! As a whole, the store is well organized, well lit, and very clean. Produce is all very neatly stacked, which I've never seen before. The employees I interacted with were friendly, and pricing was great. Make me wish we had one in NC. read more

Detwiler's Farm Market is hands down one of my favorite places to shop for anything fresh. When I say farm fresh, I mean straight-from-the-farm fresh -- and they truly support local farmers. The produce section is always piled high with the most beautiful displays of fruits and vegetables. They make fresh salsa in-house, have an entire area of fresh fruit (even a station where you can core your own pineapple!), and offer some of the freshest seafood and meats around. The deli is just as impressive, with sandwiches, soups, and salads -- and you can have a sandwich made exactly how you like it. There's even a cheese bar where they sample specialty cheeses. Around special occasions like Valentine's Day, you'll find them hand-dipping chocolate-covered strawberries and offering samples. Their bakery is incredible. Everything is made from scratch -- the cinnamon rolls are absolutely amazing, and we love the cookies and cakes. They bake their own bread and even make their own donuts. From the produce to the meat department to the bakery, everything at Detwiler's is truly top-notch. They also have an ice cream counter featuring homemade Yoder's ice cream. You can grab a sundae, milkshake, or even an açai bowl while you're there. Yes, it's always busy -- but somehow the checkout lines move quickly every single time. They are incredibly efficient, and the staff is some of the friendliest and most helpful you'll find anywhere. The store is beautifully decorated, with each department thoughtfully themed. They play uplifting Christian music throughout the store, and no matter how crowded it gets, it's always a pleasant experience. Some highlights of ours were Wisconsin cheese flavored chips, pretzels to take home (both snack bags and a soft pretzel), the grab and go sushi (surprisingly good raw salmon and crab???), as well as snacks like nonperels. - also a great place to get coffee, ice cream, and samples! Our second time at this Detweiller's and I continue to be amazed at what a great operation they have. So much fresh produce much of which is Florida grown, and all looks simply amazing. I got our red naval oranges, tomatoes, lobster tails and two prime boneless New York strip steaks on sale for 1299 a pound. This is the kind of place you could spend a lot of time in as you explore all the different options they have to offer. Wish we had a Detwiler's closer to us in Fort Meyers. If we ever move a little further north I will certainly be a regular customer at this amazing operation. While the parking lot is always filled and the store very busy, they do a fabulous job of checking you out quickly and efficiently. Can't wait to go back read more

This Detwilers is a lot to handle on a Saturday. We have been to the one by UTC several times in a Saturday. It's super popular. Prices are pretty good. Variety is nice, and free samples are the best. This time we ordered a lobster roll and Cuban sandwich, & and I picked up seaweed salad, watermelon, and two fajita sauces I could only find here. When the girl rang up our stuff, she did it so fast that my sandwich fell all over the counter. She proceeded to tell me to go get another one and I'm like it has to be ordered. She ordered it and they brought it to me. It wasn't the most glowing customer service, but whatever. Once I got my sandwich, i went to sit down. They have three tables inside next to the ice cream area. I do love this supermarket with all of their variety, but I won't go to this location again. I can tell the Aisles are very cramped. Excellent market. Unfortunately they only extended to Manatee County and Sarasota County. The market has variety of choices. One thing impressive is their pineapple cutting machine. Fresh pineapple in and cut and clean pineapple meat come out in 5 seconds. Love it. The fruits selection includes tropical weather fruit from Southeast Asia. I saw rambutan, jack fruit, sugar apple there. The seafood selection is there. What impressive is their marinaded seafood in skew. Love it for easy cooking. Unpacking and cook. Almost anything you can think of is here and in large supply and great price. Love their large seafood market area - many different types of fresh fish. Also have large butcher area too. One thing that stood out for me was their fish spread, wow was it delicious. They have a few options of different fish too - salmon, mahi mahi and others. The services is great - everyone we met was kind and helpful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Ask where something is and they will do their best to help you find it. They have the best produce, meat, bakery..well everything! They have a lot of samples around the store so you can try before you buy! We got amazing fish spread, fresh salsa, and packs of bacon for $4.99! Actually we got a cart full of deliciousness! We ate lunch there. Hubby had an Italian sub and I got a Philly cheesesteak. When we (I) talk or think about the purchase of food, the answer to the question "grocery store or supermarket"? Maybe I'll add a new label of some of these behemoth cement boxes "hypermarket" as I watch the carts and the people buzz by, Id like to sit and watch this shopping theatrical extravaganza for a bit, but I can't. Its always an easy decision, yet it occasionally crosses my mind to go Super or Hyper store - everything under one roof. And I don't like the idea of saying "going shopping for groceries" line, I'm not buying a dress shirt or a new bed - I'm going to say hence forth "I'm going to buy groceries at the grocery store", it keeps me in my lane of smaller and thinking local. The stuffed bear upon the tractor, the tall wind directional spire spinning, I'm already appreciating the cutsie personal design touches, they make me smile. Once inside, the good 'ole fashion American country craftsmanship continues with rustic looking wooden tables, winding around the aisles to the display islands all the way to the bathrooms - they're between the Subs and Dairy. I don't like bathrooms in the rear, it leaves too much area to navigate, in the front, they're far easier to locate. My big boss knows the owners a bit, she says they're a relatively new business - family oriented and a throwback to a younger and simpler time -- and I really don't like Publix - it's so sterile and corporate and unconvincing, I purchase with a sense of hesitance. All food departments here are unique in their displays and products they rest upon, you'll be hard pressed to find these products elsewhere. But now that I'm off red meat - I'm needing something else and the fish department has it all. Prices that have kept me coming back, service with a smile and recommendations on preparing for your small or full sized family meals. read more

At times though, you have to check the quality as it seems like they may purchase lower quality produce to support their super low pricing. I love the fall apple selections, the various seasonal fruit, and the local fish which is fresh and fairly priced. Other items seem to be more expensive- such as canned items, dairy, typical grocery items. They do offer some unusual items such as local jams, regional favorites such as potato chip brands that appeal to the snow bird population. The bakery items appears to be freshly made but when checking the ingredients, you will notice preservatives and are not healthy options. People line up for the affordable large made to order sandwiches in the deli and the fresh ice cream bar up front too. Large parking lot - we tend to visit early before the crowds as this place get extremely busy during peak hours. read more

I adore this place but I see it slowly going down hill. Entrance used to be decorated with bunch of fruits infront of the store now just boring watermelons. Produce isles were stocked nicely to the top, now half empty. There is now trash in the floor. Employees seem way too slow comparatively to before and don't seem to care. Chicken by weight got me sick so never buying chicken by weight anymore. Hate to give bad reviews but hoping management sees this so they can get it back to the store it was before read more

I love Detwiler's for their large variety of fresh fruits & vegetables. Their ice cream counter is also super yummy! The only negative thing is that their meat & seafood section smells downright disgusting! I always try to avoid that back section because the smell is very overpowering. It makes me think their meat & seafood is not fresh. I haven't brought myself to enter that section yet because of the smell so I actually haven't tried any of their meat/seafood. read more
