This little family farmstead was located just a few miles from our campground in Cortez and with…read morenothing particularly planned for the day I figured we'd start the day taking a ride to check this place out - it's always nice to source locally grown produce especially when it's a family operation, the selection was pretty good of course a lot of the products are seasonal so this little stand fills in with a nice selection of small batch produce and products sourced from other small businesses around the area and some brought in from out of state. The staff here was extremely friendly I'm sure a lot of the customers are locals that frequently stop in by the sounds of the laughter and the conversations going on as they checked out. I got a laugh after seeing a small section marked "scratch and dent", theses items were marked up to 50% off, these are a variety of items that are a little bruised or ripe to the point you'd want to use them right away. I was hoping to see a cow, a horse, a pig or a chicken but I guess they were all working out in the fields like most farms everyone has to pull their weight. I didn't find anything today unfortunately but enjoyed the walk-through, this is the real deal...

Picked up 50+ lbs of late season mangoes (Keitt, Palmer and Kent). Loved the break in price for…read morebulk purchase. Most we're ready to eat and good for freezing but luckily I mentioned that my daughter loves crunchy mangoes so they brought out freshly picked and still very hard Keitts. Those lasted a few days but we're awesome to eat green and crunchy. Will def be back to check out more produce and fruits. GPS to farm is spot on. Lots of parking space. Owners were lovely and very accommodating.

I loved Detwiler's so much! i'm back in virginia now and miss it…read more Detwiler's gives out a lot of samples from--cheese, pizza, cookies, pastries, steak, and sometimes even fish. They also have an ice cream shop right at the front of the store (it was delish). When we went, they had steak, cheese, ham and cheese croissant, and cookie samples. My favorite was the Red Dragon cheese (w/mustard and ale). I havent been able to find it elsewhere. The ham and cheese croissant was so good that we bought 4 of them. I also got the clam chowder, and it was honestly one of the best soups I've ever had. we sat at the tables in the front to eat it, and it was so good we went back and got seconds. We checked out the deli too, where you can build your own sandwich or order from the hot food section. They had fried chicken, ribs, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and more. I was talking with one of the ladies working there, i mentioned it was my first time visiting since i was just in town visiting family; she was so sweet and gave me, my niece, and my nephews a chicken tender EACH to try. super nice of her to do that. we ended up getting the potato wedges too, and they were so good we finished them before we even got home. I love the fresh pita bread and hummus options from Friends LLC. The Pickle Patch has some of the best pickled carrots, pickled okra, dill pickles. Swanson Soapworks has some of the best body scrubs, solid shampoo and soaps. Come Under the Yum Tree has some of the best produce. I bought some incredible oranges, lemons, limes, plums, cucumbers. They have samples of certain fruits of melons and citrus fruits.

First time visiting this market, and there are good and bad…read more Good: there is plenty of parking The hours of the market are later until 4 pm so coming from a far, I can still catch this market. The market is three days - Wednesday, Friday, & Sunday - 10-4 The market is beside Coquina Beach so you can see the beach and market all in one place. There is a few food/snack options like cookies, desserts, guacamole, conch salad to name a few off of my head. They also have a tea vendor and a coconut juice vendor. Everyone is very nice and eager to sell their goodies - lots of beach items, jewelry, candles, crafty items, beach toys, beach clothing and accessories to name a few! Bad: really weird location at the end of Coquina Beach - if you get to the bridge to Long Boat Key, you are too far Traffic is horrendous getting out because the LongBoat Key Bridge goes up anytime a boat passes, and that makes a lot of traffic all throughout the day. This market is not dog friendly, but we do see small dogs. We put our dog in his wagon so he was not on the pavement. The vendors do not seem as plentiful as they list. Perhaps the market vendors depend on the day since the market is 3 days. Glad that I did see this market since I visit so many all over. It's definitely something to see if you are in the area. Perhaps you will find something that makes a great souvenir from Anna Maria Island and that is definitely priceless! PS. This is not a farmers market. It's more of a crafty and artisan market with a beach theme!

Our kids especially loved walking our friend's dog around the market, which made the whole visit even more enjoyable. We also found a great pet vendor and picked up some treats. The food vendors were all really strong. The empanada truck was delicious, we tried pink pineapple for the first time, and we also had some guacamole and chips that were definitely pricey but absolutely worth it. There's a huge variety of vendors, and we barely got through a fraction of them. I'd love to go back on an empty stomach next time and really explore everything properly. If we lived nearby, I could easily see this becoming a regular weekend stop.

Tents were lined up, colorful rectangles against the blue sky, each hiding some promise, some deception. I saw faces, so many faces, young and old, etched with the same happy hope. They were browsing, touching, smelling, as if the secret to life could be found in a tomato or a piece of jewelry. ​I saw a couple sitting on a bench, the man looking off into the distance, the woman beside him lost in her own thoughts. They were together, yet entirely alone. A mother pushed a stroller, the child inside unaware of the chaos around them. People were gathered near the water's edge, as if drawn by some primal instinct, hoping to find a reflection of themselves in the vastness. ​They sold things, useless things mostly. Trinkets, paintings, clothes. Food that smelled good but tasted like disappointment. It was a carnival of mediocrity, a parade of the mundane, yet, there was a strange beauty in it. Perhaps it was in the way the light caught the water, in the way the clouds drifted across the sky, in the very persistence of these people, searching for meaning in a meaningless world. ​I bought a mango from a stall. It was sweet, too sweet, and sticky. I ate it, the juice running down my chin, and I thought about how we try to sweeten the bitter taste of existence. We build these markets, these little islands of commerce and community, as if they could save us from the void. But the void is always there, waiting, just beyond the last tent. ​So I walked on, past the WP3 building, past the string lights, past the laughter and the chatter. I walked until the market was a distant hum, until I was alone again with my thoughts, with the sun, with the palm trees, and with the knowledge that in the end, we are all just strangers passing through, looking for a little bit of happinessand shade.
