Devils den State Park Arkansas is a wonderful destination for hiking, swimming, canoeing, fishing, relaxing, camping, staying in a cabin and more! The cave system here has numerous places for exploration. The hiking trails are well-maintained and offer wonderful exploration opportunities, including to waterfalls, water features plus high vantage points with a great view looking out over the scenery below. All of this is offered to the Ozark Mountains and free of charge, as the state parks offer visits for free sponsored by the state of Arkansas. This is a favorite place of ours to go, and we come at least once a year - usually in the spring and often times we will come a second or third time during the year in the fall too. For those who enjoy the great outdoors, this is not a place to be missed. read more

We rented all 9 camper cabins and 3 beautiful loaded cabins. We had everything for a 4 day family reunion and this place was nothing short of amazing. We had no problem at all. Everything was well kept, clean and fresh. The maintenance team could do some work on a few of the units. But overall cleanliness and friendliness was wonderful. The park and trails are all well maintained and the hiking is fantastic here. Stay if you can but go for the day hike if you're able. This place won't let you down. We even worked with a private company allowed by the park to take us horse back riding up to the top of Yellow Rock viewing area. Awesome time had by the whole family. Thanks Devil's Den State park for helping set a new family standard in how reunions should be done. read more

My family and I were driving through Arkansas and I've never seen much of the state before and know hardly anything about it, so we decided to stop at Devils Den to explore and so we could get out of the car for an hour or two before we continued meandering along. This was so much more gorgeous and breathtaking a stop than I could've imagined or hoped for! We only walked the shorter trail and it was still just incredible, such an enjoyable hike with all the greenery and view points! I loved it so much and they even have cabins you can stay in, so it will definitely be the goal to come back at some point! read more

We loved the campground. We were in lot #59. It was definitely a level campground which we enjoyed when we were parking. Before arriving at the campground, make sure to pay attention to the signs. The roads are narrow and you have to make sure to take the correct road on entry. Once we arrived at the visitor center to sign in, the parking spots were narrow. Very hard to park. Just be mindful that there is NO internet or cell phone service at the campgrounds. Lots of biking and hiking trails. This is one of the State Parks that was built by the CCC which we enjoyed learning about the history. read more

My husband and I did the (BUTTER-FIELD) trail 15mile loop and tint camped one night to split up the hike.... Weather was beautiful 70 high low 40's night. It was definitely more like a 17 mile trail. It is definitely off a little bit and they will tell you that when you check in.The terrain is a variety ~Pictures to follow~ very clean, lots of places to stop and rest,with it being early April we seen lots of Brooke's/streams of water falls and was able to use our KATADYN WATER Filter to get some water **which you will need**. The caves were closed and the water was too low for the waterfall to be much but was an absolutely beautiful trail. Would say it was moderate and might not be easy for those with physical limitations but was well worth the hike and beautiful the whole way through. Specifically did the devils den trail. Wasn't too busy. Plan to go again and explore the other trails it has to offer. read more

We really enjoyed this park. It was the most crowded of all the AR state parks we visited but we were still able to keep our distance from others. We are on a mission to take my 85 year old father to all the national parks and in between we go to state parks. AR state parks are mostly all free unless you are camping or staying at one of their lodges/cabins. To spend a day hiking and having a picnic it is free. I love all the unique entry signs. This place has a pool that was closed I assumed other too early in season or COVID. The CCC has build some amazing things at this park like the dam that created such a great waterfall (the jewel of the park). This park had some amazing cabin that I would love to stay in one day. Overall a beautiful park. I wish it was a tad less busy. I assume when pool is running it is even more popular. Glad we made time to visit this park. read more

This place is absolutely amazing. You can spend a few hours hiking a trail or a few days camping or in a cabin. There are so many amenities including a pool. There are trails for every level of experience and everything is very preserved making for some great views. We were here on a nice Saturday afternoon and although there were many cars on our drive in we seldom saw others on the trails because there are just so many. There are park rangers everywhere and they are not only friendly but very knowledgable as they should be. Make sure to pack water and plan your routes as there are not restrooms readily available everywhere. I would also advise stopping at the visitor's center and grabbing a map. The trails are well marked with markers and colors but can still be confusing if you miss one. read more

Moderate 1.5 mile hike. I wanted to take my kids here after remembering how awesome it was a child. The caves the waterfalls! Unfortunately the waterfalls have all dried up and the caves are all blocked off. Even with all that said I'm still glad we went. It was a nice hike and family time read more

This state park is beautiful and has unique geology. The hiking trails are well marked and maintained. Our favorite hike was the Devil's Den trail with intriguing bluffs, caves, crevices and even a beautiful waterfall. Our pictures turned out great. I would give the hiking trails five stars for sure. As for the rest of the park, the staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed the night in cabin 18. The cabin was quaint and well equipped but could have used a bit of updating. The bed was visibly bowed and both my husband and I had a hard time sleeping and our backs hurt the next day. In fact, my husband ended up getting up in the night and sleeping on the couch. The toilet was in need of replacement and the indoor fireplaces did not appear to be operational. All in all, we had a fabulous time and I would highly recommend checking out Devil's Den, particularly for the hiking trails. read more

The camping spot we had was great and the hiking trail beautiful. The 2 issues we had were 1) the reservation confirmation indicated checkout time was 11:00 a.m. so we arrived about 1:00 p.m. When we checked in we were told "checkout time is 3:00 p.m. so if there is someone still in your spot, you'll have to wait". Of course there was someone in our spot so we had to hang out for 2 hours. If we had known about the actual checkout time, we would not have arrived until later. 2) There is NO cell service in the loop we were in. Only option is 'pay-per-use' Wi-Fi and that only worked close to the restrooms! This information is NOT provided in the brochure - would have been nice to know beforehand! We will probably go back, but remind everyone not to expect contact from us during our stay. read more

I absolutely loved this park. Unfortunately, I didn't realize until I got here that the waterfalls are only a spring thing, but even with that, this is still an absolutely amazingly beautiful place to hike. The variation in scenery from Trail to Trail was awesome and kept things interesting. The Devil's Den Trail had these amazing crevices that would just blow your mind, the views from the overlook on the Yellow Rock Trail were absolutely mind blowing, and the Fossil Flats had some pretty spots by the river. The Visitor Center had lots of cool educational things to look at in addition to some really nice merchandise. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. My only complaint is that the trails were not well marked. Even with a map, I still had difficulty. The Fossil Flats trail was particularly confusing. The trails were also longer than what they said. For example, the 3 mile Yellow Rock Trail was actually 4.5. But, overall, an incredible trip and I totally want to come back during waterfall season! read more

Great place to go hiking any time of the year! The guides at the visitor center are very helpful and give out free maps of the trails. The trails aren't too challenging but definitely give you a workout. The waterfalls, naturals foot bridges and views are worth the trip alone! Perfect place for pets and hikers alike. It was free and very shady!! Came here with my little sister to get her outdoors rather than staying inside in a beautiful day and boy was that a great choice. The paths had red diamonds along the way so you knew which way to go and there were different trails you could choose from. We took the devils den trail and it was awesome. So many different things to see. There was a few tough parts mainly because I'm out of shape but it was well worth the drive! Most definitely recommend for a family day or just to have something to do to get out of the house. read more

I went down the Yellowrock Trail. It was an easy 2.7 mile hike that was moderately trafficked. I would suggest going during the spring, summer, or early fall. I went during the last weekend of November. It was really pretty and I can only imagine what it looks like when the trees have leaves. Would definitely go back!! read more

After 6 miles of downhill switchbacks on low gear, we checkin at Devils Den Visitor Center. The friendly superintendent allows us to stay in Loop A tent sites, which only cost $14/night in a busy Memorial Weekend. The sweet and tentative staff gal assigned couple of long paved sites for our truck and trailer. It's a short walking distance to a clean bathroom facility with nice hot showers. Other sites in the park like Loop C are a bit hilly, hard for backing up and leveling our trailer, but all tent sites in Loop A are just perfect; leveled driveway was long enough for us and still has about 10ft of space left, shaded trees, cool wind to boot, tent sandbox, wooden picnic table and a grill. Water at spigot is yellowed and mildly rusty so we use ours stash instead. Fossil Flat mountain bike trailhead starts near our site is rocky, muddy and fun. Love this campground! read more

Great weekend ! We stayed in the Park's full service cabin and it was perfect. Cabin 12 backs up right to Lee Creek and is a bit more secluded than the other cabins. The back porch is screened in - making it perfect for morning coffee. With the full-service kitchen and fireplace we were sitting cozy! I really enjoyed Devil's Den Trail because of the rock formations and Dead Horse Crevice. Beautiful! I already want to go back. read more

I do a ton of hiking and have been here many times. None of the hikes here are great. Just average with no super scenery or destination hikes. The Buffalo River and Petit Jean are where it's at. Certainly worth a visit though. read more

I enjoyed spending an afternoon at Devil's Den State Park to do a little hiking and exploring. On this trip I hiked the Devil's Den Trail which climbs through the bluffs with many rock formations of interest along the trail. On the far end of the trail is Twin Falls which was just barely a trickle in early June. I thought that there would be a little more water coming down the falls being early in the season. It was an easy hike with a total distance of 1.5 miles. The trail is a loop so you do not have to repeat any trail which is always fun. I went to the visitor center just as they were closing. The staff was very nice even at the end of their day and they had a number of gift items in addition to the displays. I drove through a couple of the campground loops just to check them out, and it looks like you could have a great time camping here. I will be coming back to explore the Yellow Rock trail for sure. read more

Absolutely gorgeous park. We just got back from our first trip and we're already thinking of when we can come back! We went on a week night so we felt like we had the place to ourselves - there were other people in the nearby cabins, but we only saw a few other people on the trails. The ladies working at the visitor's center were friendly and knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions about the park while we were checking in! :) We picked Devil's Den because of the amount of trails it has, and unfortunately we only had time for three this time, but those three were great. The Devil's Den trail was breathtaking; all the caves in the park are currently closed, but man, even without that it was a great hike. We also did the Fossil Flats one, which was also beautiful; this was a much easier hike, but it has the potential to be longer than Devil's Den - there are 2, 4?, and 5-mile loops. We stayed in one of the camper cabins, which are the ones that have lights, beds, outlets, and a window AC/heating unit, but no kitchen (only a grill and fire pit outside), a regular campground bathroom, and man, it totally exceeded my expectations. It was cold the night we stayed, but we were nice and cozy in the cabin without even needing to run the heat. The bed was comfortable, and so were the chairs on the porch. Oh, and the whole place was just immaculate - the cabin was totally spotless when we arrived, and I'm really picky about bathrooms but I had no complaints about the bathrooms by the cabins. There weren't even any bugs in the bathrooms, no standing water in the shower, nothing. Totally spotless. read more

As someone who grew up in Fayetteville and now lives in Springdale, My family often went to this park for relaxation and fun in a beautiful setting, right up through my teenage years until we moved permanently out-of-area in '76. At that time, we could still swim in the water below the dam--something I really miss--and it DID flow in Summer. Now I'm grown up and married, and I still love going here whenever I can. The scenery is gorgeous, and it gives the impression of isolation and almost being in another world, even though it's right around Winslow and only minutes from Fayetteville. If you want to really get away and de-stress without taking a long trip, this is a good place to do it. We usually hang around the dam area, which is still a good place for picnics, etc., and at least once we rented a canoe and cruised up and down the river. I don't know if they still have the paddle boats, but we tried them at least once, too. I look forward to our next return trip. read more

They also have some of the most breathtaking views (yellowrock)! Hopefully you can go without your phone as service is almost impossible unless you are at the visitors center. A great state park. The area is beautiful, with hiking available in multiple lengths and skill levels. There are also two trails available for mountain biking, and both are incredibly maintained and offer some great rides and beautiful views. Campsites are available for reasonable prices, and the area stays pretty quiet. I personally am not a fan of camping, preferring backpacking any day, but the sites are large and conveniently placed. The area also offers a store, a restaurant, and cabins for overnight stay. Please note that the caves the park is famous for have been closed for quite some time, due to a sickness circulating among the bats that live within. In short, a great place to get outside and have some fun, while still maintaining some of the amenities of civilization. read more

Only came here once, but was a bit disappointed with the hike and the hype. Was not strenuous and felt more like a walk in the park. Apparently, the focal point is where you can see lush greens of trees at the top of the mountain. Probably won't come back here again and would rather explore other hiking trails. read more

Stayed here in a cabin for the weekend. Cabin is amazing! Came fully stocked with everything you need but food. Knifes are worn, and need to be sharpened. Fireplace is ONLY made to be for visual don't expect to get warm by it and their wood is so fresh it takes forever to start. Also I recommend using Starter Loggs brand not the starter match they provide. Beds are that weird full/queen size, very roomy. Plenty of towels and blankets. Big whirlpool tub that was sooo nice! And the trails are just gorgeous!! Check in is EXACTLY 5pm, we showed up at 5:02 and were refused service by a very rude woman. She did tell us we can go to our cabin but that "someone must have forgotten to lock the door" and hurried us out. Her poor customer service skills is why they aren't getting a 5 stars. Honestly she first asked us if there was somewhere else we could go, then we told her we drove 4 hours, so no. Then she told us how to get in the cabin & we could register in the morning. When we left we let them know at 11am and she didn't bother asking how the stay was, wishing is a nice day (after we said it)... just so dismissive. read more
