I've been here twice. The first time Andy did my nails and they were GORGEOUS!!! They lasted almost a month. Unfortunately, Andy only does really long nails. After shopping around for 5 months and not finding anyone I made an appointment with JJ. On the day of my appointment she called me and asked me to come in earlier, so she wouldn't have downtime between me and the person before me. I came in earlier. My appointment was on a Wednesday by Saturday one of my thumbs was lifting. Sunday the other in one lifted, two days later it popped off. A week after my appointment my pointer finger started lifting. If messaged JJ on Saturday on IG (same way I booked my appointment) about my nail and asked to come on Monday. They were closed. She asked me to come Tuesday, I couldn't because of work. I suggested Thursday. She said she would let me know. She never did, then messaged that she had been waiting for me. She messaged me at 4 pm on Thursday that she could see me at 7. When I didn't show up she called me (first time she called me to try and resolve this). I told her I hadn't seen the message but could be there in 30 minutes. She said she wouldn't wait since its been over a week since she did my nails. Then proceed to basically tell me I shouldn't be mad because she tried to help me. I asked if going forward was there anything that could be done because debating busy schedules and her "help" was a waste of time. She said no. Long story short, go to Andy (if king nails are your thing) and don't expect good customer service. read more

Let me start by saying I hardly get my toes and nails done. But I loved coming here for my pedicure with the owner. He's friendly and does a great job. I got gifted some money for my birthday and decided to splurge on a set of nails for the first time in a LONG time. The nails were done by a woman and they came out amazing. The down? She wasn't very helpful and didn't explain things very well. I told her I was clueless with all the new stuff on the market (gel/dips etc...)she didn't explain anything to me...when she asked what shape I wanted, I asked her what shapes were available, to show me some samples. She said she didn't have any and that I had to look for them on my phone. First red flag. When she asked what color I wanted, she showed me a ring of colors...didn't give me the option to select regular acrylics. So $109 later...I said "that's okay, I'll enjoy these nails all summer. When I called 3 weeks later to schedule a fill, she said that the color nails I got don't get fills and that I would need an entire new set! What?! Why was this not explained to me when I got them? This has been by far the best nail experience I've ever had. When I walked in, I instantly felt welcome! They were prompt, I was immediately sat down and engaged in conversation, which always makes a nail salon feel more "homey", where we further discussed my service and my expectations for the visit. Here's some background on that: I found my nail tech, Andy, on Instagram due to his experience with nail art, and received a recommendation from a friend who has been serviced by him before. Nail design is something that I have been trying to get for years now, but due to my picky and gaudy tendencies, I have yet to find someone who can accommodate my vision! Thank God for Andy! I gave him the picture of what I wanted and he was adamant about making sure everything looked the exact way I wanted it to look! He was sure to discuss price points with me, to make sure everything was well within my budget beforehand, and then he proceeded to focus on every miniature detail until he got it right. During the process, I was engaged with even more amazing conversation with the staff in the salon, and had the opportunity to observe how they interact with their clients. I was MORE than impressed! They were generous, kind, patient, and down to earth. You could tell they really enjoy people, which is more than you can say about most salons these days. They even went as far as to give a child a towel, who was cold and sleepy in the salon, to wrap around her while her mother was finishing her nails. To most that won't mean much, but it really left a lasting impression for me! I was enamored with the sheer detail Andy put into my nails, as soon as I gave him my hands, I truly believed I had nothing to worry about! We even discussed how much time he puts into studying nail design! I know now that I can give him free range to do as he pleases with my nails and walk out satisfied. I was floored when he finished, and by the time I left, I was eager to share pictures my friends! I can assure you, I HAVE NEVER FELT MORE CONFIDENT IN MY NAILS! Really impressed by the attention to detail and making sure my nails looked the way I wanted. Came last month during thanksgiving and got a pedicure and shellac manicure. The pedicure lasted 4 weeks and could've lasted longer if my nails didn't grow so far. Shellac also lasted a couple weeks and could've gone longer if I didn't pick them off. Probably the best pedicure and shellac manicure I've gotten as well. Just disappointed that the only time I get to come to this salon is when I am visiting my parents during the holidays. I just moved to the area and walked in to get a manicure. There IS a sign on the door that states "by appointment only", but when I actually tried to make an appointment, the lady could not have been more rude. I told her what I wanted, and she said "we are booked today". When I asked if I needed to call to schedule an appointment, or if she would do it for me, she just responded "we are full" and went back to what she was doing. I was excited when I saw their photos on Instagram, so I made an appt for myself and my fiance. I wanted a full set and a pedicure (to figure out how I would wear my nails for my upcoming wedding) and my fiance was just enjoying what we thought would have been a basic, relaxing pedicure & manicure. My fiance said he felt like his services were rushed...he didn't receive a foot massage and his nails don't look like anything was ever done to them. It's as if we paid to have him soak his feet. We have hot water, we could've done that at home for free. To add, I had to point out missed spots on my toes when Andy told me he was finished with my feet. He corrected the problems, but my eyebrows were raised because there was just no way he could not have seen what I saw prior to me pointing it out. He was just going to let it stay that way. My biggest issue, however, was with my full set. I don't typically get artificial nails added, but since I was prepping for my wedding...let's try something new, right? I had a picture of a set Andy had posted on IG as a base for what I wanted. He started and everything was fine, but when I told him I didn't want super sharp edges for my coffin shape and asked him if he could round it out just a little, he told me, "I don't do that because that's ugly!" Literally told me, the person paying for services ($117 before tip at that), that he wasn't going to soften the edges of my nails because HE thinks it's ugly. I politely told him that the definition of ugly is subjective and if I'm paying for MY nails to be done, it's terrible customer service to tell me that he won't do something to my nails because he doesn't think it will be pretty. To make matters worse, Vin came over and inserted himself into what could have been a very short conversation and kept trying to justify Andy's position. At one point, he even stated that (and I quote), "It's like when you go to a plastic surgeon...." UMMMM, NO, it's NOT like when you go to a plastic surgeon. No one approaches a full set with the same mindset as plastic surgery. And also....personal preference is not a measure that plastic surgeons use. If it's an issue of health, sure, but are we really comparing plastic surgery to a full set? Seriously. He also said something about "what's on trend." Newsflash...everyone doesn't want what everyone else is getting! Please don't assume that my tastes and preferences mirror everyone else's tastes and preferences. It's bad for business and just bad practice, in general. Last, Vin wouldn't let the conversation die. He literally stood over me for a good 15 minutes and KEPT going on and on. Each time I refuted his comments with valid logic, he would pause to think of something else to say and he'd start the conversation all over again. At one point he said that he wouldn't ever come out and tell his client that what they want is ugly, but that's exactly what Andy had done right before Vin walked up to where I was sitting. Andy finished my nails, didn't ask if I liked my nails, didn't say thank you...just got up and walked away. I gathered all of my belongings very slowly to see if Andy was going to say anything to me...he did not. As I was checking out, I mentioned to Vin that I thought it was extremely rude that he didn't so much as say thank you or anything. Vin tried to blame it on Andy being new to the country (1 year)...but, Andy was really pleasant and chatty at the start of my appointment, so I'm gonna call BS on that. Besides, you can't tell me he doesn't know that he should say, "thank you!" And if it's really the case that he doesn't, you might want to coach him up on that. I will absolutely NEVER go back here. And it's sad too....I actually did like my nails. But what I'm not going to do, is spend my money ANY place where you think it's ok to treat me like you're doing ME a favor. You all may have some 4 and 5 star reviews, but one major factor in having staying power as a business, is consistency. My boyfriend booked an appointment with Andy for me after seeing some of his work online. We were told he wouldn't be available until after 1pm on the day we opted for, so we set up for a 2pm appointment. I arrived early, as I knew I would need time to go over designs. Once Andy arrived, he started working on my nails when the receptionist stopped him and showed me the appointment book where he said my boyfriend booked a 1pm with anyone, not Andy. They charged $100 when their base price for nexgen is $45 and $5 starting per nail design. Does the design look like $55 extra to you? I didn't know until the end that I was being charged that much. The manager said the nail tech's base price is $100 (which basically seems like a load of shit and an excuse to take advantage of new customers). To be clear, this was my first (and last) time going there and I did not specifically state I wanted that tech. When I asked about the cost the manager told he was sorry I felt ripped off and I clearly don't get my nails done very often bc I didn't know how they did things- not very empathetic. read more

JJ is a wonderful tech with superior skills. Your nails will set you back a cool $100 or so, but if you are very picky, and have the money, come to see JJ at Devine nails. This salon is NOT like one of those chop-shops that you don't have to have an appointment, and you just get an arbitrary nail tech, who may or may not do a decent job. You must have an appointment here, and you must keep your appointment. These guys are professionals, and do not have the need for games.
