My wife came to get bagels for her work. She called the order in before hand like the recommend on busier days. They then forced her to pay an 18 percent tip on her order. There is no sign stating this policy and no place on the receipt for a tip. They were rude and disrespectful to my wife and embarrassed her as well about this. I called to talk to the manager and said that I wanted the $15 back and I was told absolutely not and that was their policy. This is absolutely no way to treat a customer and it is sad that a local business treats their customers this way. I received terrible customer service and was then Demanded 20% gratuity and when I came up short I was referred to the manager. The women taking the order mentioned after placing the order that they only take cash as gratuity, I told them I'm happy to give a tip but do not have cash and would have to put it on a card. Very good bagel all the way which they call the yachty aka a bagel lox and cream cheese, with tomato thinly sliced onion and capers. Perfect amount of cream cheese. Last week I stopped by Devine's Bagels after I saw a photo of their "Rainbow" bagel on Instagram, it looked really good! They close at 2PM and I arrived around 1:30, and they were completely sold out of bagels (literally not one bagel left). The staff member working told me they had an unusually busy morning. I was pretty frustrated because I drove a half-hour to get there, but I figured the bagels must be really good if they were sold out! I went back the other day (around 11:30) and luckily they were fully stocked on bagels. They had a pretty good variety too, with flavors including Plain, Cinnamon Raisin, Blueberry, Egg, Wheat, Rye, Spinach, Rainbow, Salt, Onion, and more! I ordered the Rainbow Bagel toasted with cream cheese, and it was delicious! They also have a menu with breakfast and deli sandwiches, pizza bagels, salads, sides, etc. On the counter they had a half-dozen bag of "1 Day Old" bagels for $2.75, which I thought was a pretty good deal (and an indication that they make their bagels fresh every morning). The staff seemed very "straight to business" and not overly outgoing, but they were also pretty busy at the time, and that might have been why. This is my first time here, as I was visiting a family member. She recommended we stop in for their lox bagel sandwich. Pluses are the bagel was great -- heavily seeded, and just a little salty. They used a good amount of cream cheese, not too much and not too little. The food tasted fresh and the bagel was a nice crunchy outside, chewy inside combo. The people working were nice and fast. Minuses were no one was wearing masks. One person had one on her ears but not her face. I can imagine this would deter a number of people from coming in. I also didn't try the coffee but was warned that it was terrible and just tasted like water with some coffee flavor. The girl behind the counter picked up one cold pre made egg, threw it on the bagel with a piece of cheese. she then put it in the little counter oven they have and left it in for a few seconds. She pulled it out and I asked if it was a premade egg. she opened the bagel and the cheese wasn't event melted. Bagel wasn't toasted. I asked for a bagel with cream cheese instead and she wouldn't make it. She insisted I pay for the bagel that I wouldn't even feed my dog. What kind of service is this? Tried to support a local business vs going to Dunkin. After having spent 4 hours in the Milford Hospital ER since 3 am with my 95 year old Grandmother I stopped in to get breakfast for my wife and I. After I ordered and spent a few minutes talking to another customer that I knew, another man at the table stood up and started berating how I parked my car out front. Now there are no clearly defined parking lines or parking signs out front of the business like the diagonal lines next door at Carvel. After telling me that I had "no common sense" and telling me to move my car, I asked if he owned the place. "I sure do he answered". So I told him to keep his bagels and left. My common sense told me to go somewhere else. I'm a business owner myself. This is not the way you treat a customer. Was I parked improperly? I can't say because there were no clear spots for the business. I didn't want to park at Carvel because I was not using their business. They could have the best bagels in the world but when you get yelled at by the owner in front of other customers, I'll pass. read more

I have been to Devine's several times, as it is our local bagel shop. But, the last few times I have witnessed such awful customer service. I do not know the name of the woman with the long black hair, but she is verbally abusive to her coworkers and customers. I had ordered two bagel sandwiches and after a few minutes; the associate preparing the bagels held up the bag and said your bagels are ready. I let the woman with the long black hair know and then she yelled at the woman making bagels that there was no ticket and threw my bagels to the side. I waited. The woman with the long black hair then yelled at the sweetest couple who was just trying to pay, loudly saying "I will be with you in a minute". And, this sweet couple just stood there. It was sad and awful to witness. I know working in the service industry anywhere is tough. I have been there, I get it. Sometimes customers can get to you. But, there is no excuse for the verbal abuse I witnessed of employees or customers at Devine's. I will not support their business anymore. read more

I usually grab bagels in NYC before heading home, but decided to try a local spot instead. 9 AM had three customers inside, seating area was small but looked cozy. One employee handled it all well. I just grabbed 6 bagels to go. The Jalapeño Cheddar was excellent, crunchy thin exterior with pillowy bagel inside. Bagels were $1.75 each. I don't go there for coffee or sandwiches as most people who've had bad experiences noted. I just go there for bagels but not as often as I used to because a half dozen bagels went from under $6 to $7.50 in the last year. I understand that costs are high and they are a small business but the prices are now becoming cost prohibitive to a lot of people. They offer lots of great varieties and they last quite a while when kept in an airtight bag or container. Service is terrible..heavy set woman with the brown hair has a complete attitude..I stood at the counter until she FINALLY acknowledged me..like i should be kissing her ass..no hello..just "what can i get u" unreal..bagels taste like cardboard but uunfortunately the only bagel shop in the area..then i knew it wasnt me bc its not the first time ive had this encounter with her and a customer walked back in politely to tell her they gave her the wrong bagel and she gave her an attitude the customer finally said to her "you seem like u are mad about it" and literally was gonna just leave without her bagel she already paid for! I give the 3 star rating not because of the bagels but because of the very stingy amount of bacon on their BEC sandwiches. I remember it being a better portion in the past. For $5+ you expect more. The sandwich wasn't very warm either. However, the bagel was soft, fluffy, and delicious. I ordered a bacon, egg & cheese on an everything bagel which is my ol' reliable order. Here at Devine's, it's 'I will show up every time for you but don't expect anything flashy' type of sandwich. It hits the spot but doesn't hit theee spot. In terms of wait time, it took a while but only because this joint was bumpin. We had 30 pple for an after wedding breakfast outdoors. Bagels werent fresh. We ordered fruit and only received watermelon (instead of a variety - not everyone likes watermelon). They said they supplied everything: coffee fixings, paper plates and napkins. They gave no utensils (to spread creamcheese), no paper plates nor napkins! Luckily someone had a roll of paper towels and a few plastic mismatched utensils in their car. They gave us half gallons of milk that were already opened with some milk already gone. They also mentioned they were going to add some 'weddingy' decor. The decor consisted of 'happy wedding day' written in black marker on the plastic cover over the bagel container. Not to mention the cost, not worth half of what we paid! We sent an email a few days ago with feedback and never heard back. I've tried this place 3 times as it is so close to my house, everytime something is wrong with my order and it isn't cheap. I ask for toasted- I get a cold bagel, minima cream cheese, paid for lox and there's one small piece but I'm charged 12$.
