    Jerk chicken entree with cabbage
    Will A.

Was good! Got takeout on a Saturday afternoon and it appeared to be the only option. The restaurant is located on a busy Bloomfield Ave. street so takeout is challenging with limited parking options. The food was really good and reasonably priced - especially compared to similar restaurants in the area. Called to place an order and it was ready 15 mins later. The kind gentleman I spoke with at the register was telling me about the oxtail - which I'll need to try next time I come back!

Curry chicken w/rice & peas and cabbage (medium) $12.00

Dev's came highly recommended from a fellow foodie friend. Sadly, my anticipation was better than my experience. Still, I've yet to find any authentic DELICIOUS jamaican cuisine that's better than (the overly commercialized & no longer good) Golden Krust chain. The cabbage was good, maybe even borderline excellent. The rice&peas were decent. But the main thing, the curry chicken - it was dry. And not just because of lack of sauce - the chicken itself was dry. It didn't taste bad (thankfully), it was not inedible. It was just incredibly DRY!!! It was difficult to thoroughly enjoy and finish. Overall, I likely wouldn't go back. And initially I was so hungry that I was going to try quite a few menu items, as a first time patron, but I am glad that I chose differently. Simple but not that great. Slow but nice service.

High quality food that's a bit pricey but unquestionably delicious. Will definitely be going back for more!

I cannot speak for the authenticity, but the flavors are earthy and at times bold. I love the cabbage, the texture is great. I'll be honest, making it through an entire serving can be difficult, only due to generous portions and the eventual one note that becomes pervasive in the flavor profile. Try for sure and see what your take is!

After going to Dev's my quest for great Caribbean food continues. I ordered the brown stew chicken , it was just okay, the chicken was somewhat dry, the sauce was okay the cabbage was my favorite & the peas & rice was again okay. I also got a side of Mac & cheese, it was something weird about it that I just couldn't put my finger on, but I've had better. I need food that is more than okay. I want food that will make me want to lick my finger or want for more. I didn't taste the love in the food, I'm gonna either have to give up this quest or take a trip to Jamaica or Trinidad for some authenticity & food cooked with passion & love or maybe it's just me, maybe my expectations are too high, but I don't think so, I'm a foodie and like a good man, "good food is hard to find!"

Callaloo plate with plantain, steamed cabbage & carrots as well as rice n peas. All Vegan and delicious.

Came here craving a nice vegan Jamaican meal and this place did not disappoint. The gentleman at the register was very sweet and helpful. I ordered the callaloo which came with rice and peas, plantain, and steamed cabbage & carrots. Everything was prepared fresh and the portions were great and so filling. It was about $9-$10 for the dish and it was well worth it for the amount of food I received. Simple and delicious. Happy I stopped in on a whim.

    Chicken Roti

I came here with a friend who lives on the campus two blocks away and she loves the of tails. I came in and it looked like a mix of an eat-in restaurant but feels soo cheap. I decided to look past the everything and just order some food. *Bam!!* Roti was on the menu and I just had to have it. I haven't had some roti since last spring and I couldn't resist. I sat down, friend had her of tails and saw my chicken roti and started eating it and just kept digging. The disappointment started when I realized that there wasn't any potatoes in my roti and that killed me. I kept eating and my friend did enjoy her of tails but I just couldn't finish my roti and just felt utterly disappointed. I doubt I'll come here again seeing that I was raised in the Caribbean, and hold Caribbean restaurants to a higher standard.

Small Curry Chicken, rice and peas, and cabbage. Cost $9
    Jojo B.

Ordered the curry chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. The food was okay. I ordered a small. Definitely over priced at $9. SMDH. Would I go again? Probably not. I just feel there are other options in the area for your money.

    Gotta love cream soda!

It was the perfect size for two. The meat melted in your mouth, and the sauces were incredibly flavorful and not too spicy. We also split a very nice bread pudding for dessert. We liked the ambience and the music - nice for a date night, not too loud and not too soft. The chef Patrick was really hospitable and explained the different dishes to us. The prices were good and we left stuffed. A fantastic experience and I can't wait to come back.

Everything came out hot and fresh and was seasoned to perfection. I tasted my friend's fried chicken and fell in love! So much so, I placed an order of just the chicken to go! I had: Jerk chicken tacos - 5/5 Crab fried rice - 4/5 Fried Chicken- 5/5 (amazing! Seasoned and fried perfectly) Definitely recommend this spot and would go back if I'm in the area!

At a Thai spot, I expect to see Thai people. At a Mexican spot, I expect to see Mexicans. You get the picture. So at this Haitian restaurant, there are always Haitians enjoying the food -- which tells you everything you need to know. If you're looking for an upscale yet still authentic Haitian restaurant, this is it. No matter what you order, they always start you off with a soup that's hot, rich, and flavorful. I usually begin with the Haitian caviar and smoked fish empanadas, then move on to either the Saveur Creole goat or the red snapper -- always with extra gravy, because I can't resist pouring it over their black rice (don't judge me). It's BYOB, so bring your drink of choice or grab something from the shop right next door. Another thing I love is that the owner, Robert, is usually there. He'll stop by your table, talk with you, and make the meal feel like a real experience. And if you admire the artwork on the walls -- he painted all of it himself. If you go, tell him I sent you... maybe then he'll finally sell me one.

We got the pan con chicharrón and I truly almost cried! I have not had one as delicious as this one in Jersey! The pork was tender, yet nicely fried, and there was not as much fat on it which is always hard as the fat gives it the flavor but too much can be overpowering. After talking to the chef, he mentioned that it is no longer on the menu because people didn't really order it ... so here I am, asking you all to go in and order it, so it can hopefully go back on the menu and everyone can try authentic and delicious Peruvian breakfast!!
