Stopped here because there was a line a mile long at Popeyes. Ordered a grilled cheese with fries and a quart of chili. It cost $22! I'd gladly pay that much if the food was good, but it wasn't. As we walked in we were hit with an overwhelming and unappealing smell of old grease. We weren't that hungry so we just ordered the Dew Nachos. It didn't take long for the dish to come out, but at first look, the food was absolutely unappetizing. There was a pile of grease at the bottom of the dish, the meat was near cold and the taste just wasn't it. My daughter felt sick after eating just two bites of the nachos. Five stars for the Chilli and history, 2 for the staff. Clean restaurant with some neat decor and history of Springfield's Chilli scene. Two L's in Chilli here because Springfield is known for two pot Chilli. One pot of Chilli and one pot of suet. The younger folks on here prolly wouldn't step near a pot of suet but it really enhances the flavor of this fantastic Chilli found at the Dew. Many older folks visit this place for a coney dog or a small bowl of goodness that brings them back in time. I hear them reminiscing about Springfield's Chilli history and the days of youth. Fun stuff. I visited one weekend and it was not very crowded but staff seemed to be out of sync and disorganized. Super nice people but not very efficient. I ordered a Burrita and enjoyed it very much. Most people eating lunch seemed happy with their choices. Love the Dew and would go back for a bowl and a tamale. read more

Is there any decent food in springfield?? If you expect this to be similar to the famous ohio chain that serves the same menu, its not. Theres nothing better than a good five way but this place managed to make that and the coneys unedible. Dinner tonight went straight to the trash after a few bites. What a waste of money. The ground beef looks like dried up cocoa pebbles. The cheese developed some type of dairy rigormortus and you needed a knife to cut thru it. The onions were chopped fresh and tasty but i couldnt see consuming that many calories on foid that is neither healthy or tasty. I was gifted some of this less than mediocre chili and it was extremely lack luster but not forgettable. Here's why it'll not be forgettable: 1) for 2 quarts of chili it cost 50 freaking dollars. I make better tasting chili for less than 15 dollars. Also the cornbread was a dollar piece. A box of jiffy 89 cents you do the math. 2) it was extremely greasy as you can tell from the picture it was a block of grease. Once I rendered it out I had to strain it out like TWICE. Then I was left with what I thought was a good amount unfortunately heres a pattern. More grease and more. Finally I grabbed 2 cans of chili and a can or 2 hot v8 juice and there was finally something palatable. As I left it alone to cool down I saw the telltale signs of Dew Grease form again. We've been looking forward to trying Dew Chilli since they opened in this new location. Yesterday was the day. We arrived at peak lunch time...there was only one other table occupied and no one in line to order. Clue? The service was impeccable. The guy on the register asked if we had been in before and after we said no, he explained their menu (you can get chili with beans or no beans) and was very patient while we made our decision. I ordered a bowl of chili with sour cream, cheese, and onions with a drink. My husband ordered chili spaghetti and a coney dog with water. Our bill was just under $20! For drinks, they have Coke products -- Yea!! Their iced tea is from concentrate. How hard is it to make "real" tea folks? Our food arrived very quickly and very hot. My husband enjoyed his spaghetti. The hot dog was good but spicier than expected. My chili was just OK. It's not very spicy and has very little taste of chili. I'm sure people think of chili when the weather is cooler, but this spot may not last through the hot summer based on the amount of business we saw yesterday! read more

DEW Chilli Parlor is open near the corner of Drawbridge and Wabash, in opposite end of the building from Qdoba. They have a very good menu, as well as, food. I give it high marks in service and their selection of Chilli variations. They also have excellent hours 7 days a week and until 10 pm. I wasn't ever impressed with the DEW on S. 5th, due to it's location mostly. Now that it's located at the end of Drawbridge and under new ownership I'm very pleased it's in the neighborhood. My coworkers and i decided to try the new Dew Chilli Parlor on North Grand that used to be the Red Coach inn. I ordered the Mushroom melt which consisted of Swiss cheese, onion and mushrooms. When our order came our waitress handed me a mushroom and swiss burger. When i told her she had my order wrong, she said that she didn't think the mushroom melt would be satisfying enough for me. What??? REALLY??? She changed my order to a completely different meal! I was starving because we take a late lunch at work we had to get back to work.... so i ate it. Something was said about that being the vegetarian option but how did she know i wasnt a vegetarian. I don't really eat alot of red meat, mainly chicken and turkey burger. Tried this place out for lunch yesterday since it was next to our favorite cupcake shop. It was amazing! So many menu options that we couldn't decide, so my husband & I decided to share our orders with one another. He got the chilli grilled cheese which was very flavorful, cheesey and had a nice buttery crust on the bread. I ordered the mac & cheese chilli bowl which looked wonderful in the pictures. Upon paying we realized my order had been rung up incorrectly, leaving me with a hot dog of some sort. Not my fave. So I talked to one of the workers who was delivering food. He apologized and was extremely helpful. He fixed the problem without adding g extra wait time for my food and without any hesitation- even though the item we paid for was much less in cost that the item I received. When my chilli mac arrived it was perfectly hot and so delicious! The mac & cheese would have been perfect as a stand alone dish, but topped with their famous chilli and extra cheese put it over the top! Every part of the country boasts a different style of chilli, and my husband and I have lived all over (and each have our preferred style). But this chilli has moved into top place on our list! We're eating the leftovers today (very generous portions) and already making plans to go back to Dew Chilli soon! Definitely worth the hour & a half drive! read more

No wonder I'm not allowed to review the franchise on North Grand. The TV commercial is misleading by offering delivery. I try to order online during dinner hours (7:30 pm). Delivery unavailable. I drive the entire 1/2 mile. Order a carryout order, told to wait at the bar. I wait 5-7 mins maybe 7 people in the place being fed. I glance around the corner & the waitress/bartender (I guess they can only afford one person doing it all) she's on her cell phone. Total attitude once I caught her. Tossed my receipt & card across the table, just very rude. Took 20 minutes for a sancho. I drive the 1/2 mile back to my place. Lukewarm. This place is a joke! I had high hopes, dashed. read more

Staff very friendly and provided recommendations. I liked the music, and the decor and tables and history on the wall were nice. Really felt like I had arrived in Springfield. The chili (Chilli?) was perfect for me because I don't tolerate a lot of spice, but there was more paprika or cayenne pepper and other sauces on the table per added spice.
