Without any notice they have decided they will no longer accept soonercare. Because my child is low income they are willingly medically neglecting her. No where else will accept her insurance, especially with no notice. Extremely unprofessional and has no regards or care for the overall well-being of their patients. My daughter is 6. Their money is worth more than her well-being and it is sick. Find somewhere with better integrity and someone who cares about your child and not just money. UPDATE TO REBUTTAL, I got the letter today, so no. Not ample time to make other arrangements for her medical care. Next?

They can see all five of my kids at the same time and basically get us through in what typically takes me one visit with two kids at our old place. I have two "fancy" kids, one who has Down Syndrome and one who is medically complicated and let me tell you, Dr. W and staff are so good with them. He's willing to answer ALL my insane questions as I'm "that mom" who has to know every little detail about every little thing. So patient and so kind. My daughter with DS originally was a bit timid and sometimes struggled to want to be there or to allow dentists to look at her teeth... she has had zero trouble adjusting to EP&TD, and she loves "doctor dubs" (to the point this week she invented a tooth ache so she could go see him lol, she just keeps forgetting which tooth she told me hurt lol).. We just got home from my medically complicated child having 4 teeth extracted and we felt so well cared for and supported through the whole process. We've been at this clinic for two years now. If you are looking for a dentist you can trust with your precious kiddo's... this is the place! Give them a try!

    The two white ladies that represent the front staff are rude / unwelcoming. Got here 5 min early…read morefor an appt for my kids...... Stood at the front window trying to get someone's attention - was ignored by 2 women who appeared to just be "busy" doing ? So I sat down w/ my kids. After 10- minutes of sitting there someone finally checked to see if we needed help. Just didn't seem to want my business ? Maybe because my family doesn't meet their "typical" cliental. What made me upset and decide to write this review is when I noticed that other people walk up they seem to get help right away--- the second they walk up to the front window. As expected, the clinic is very kid oriented and brightly colored. The lobby is very comfortable and spacious. They provide refreshments too. There are also video games and toys which helped distract my kids from the real reason why they were there and enabled Dr. Heim to explain their treatment needs to us. It was a great experience for our children and us. I was really bummed that I am too old to be a patient and that only my kids can be patients! I highly recommend Dr. Somer Heim (and Dr. Moody)!

    Went to Dr. Guthrie's office for my daughters first checkup (she's just under 2) and was impressed…read moreright when we walked in the door. The lobby was a child's playroom, equipped with toys, Legos, video games and an indoor treehouse type play structure. When Theresa took us back, she explained all the paperwork that I would have to look through and gave us a thorough tour of the facility. It is a very child friendly environment and my toddler loved it, she especially liked the fact that she got to choose her own toothbrush, toothpaste, and sand timer. She was sat down in an open area where all the children get checked up, had her own tv in the ceiling to keep her distracted while getting examined, and she got to wear cool pink shades for protection. Theresa explained all the instruments to my daughter and also let her touch them before they were used on her, which made her more comfortable. Amazingly, she did really well throughout her exam and then Dr. Guthrie came in to make sure there were no X-rays needed or any other dental problems. He also explained that he would be counting my daughters teeth to make her comfortable and was very quick and thorough so that my daughter didn't get scared or antsy. After her exam, she got to choose a toy to take home from their toy chest, stickers while I was signing paperwork, she received a dollar for not having any cavities and a balloon on our way out. She definitely did well on her first visit and am so glad that she didn't get traumatized by the dentist, which I'm sure a lot of toddlers do. I am glad I found this pediatric dentistry and thrilled that my daughter is going to be a happy patient here!

Dr. Doan always gives great tips for excellent after visit care and speaks with the us as the parents like normal humans and not like people with medical degrees. Her office is so cozy and inviting making you too wish you were a kid to take advantage of her cherry flavored gloves, endless tv options, and treasure chest. I 10/10 recommend her office for all your kiddos dental needs.

    As far as pediatric dentists go, we don't really have experience with anyone other than Dr. Doan. I…read moremean, we're about to, because we won't be using Dr. Doan going forward. The hygienists are friendly. Some of them are pretty quiet, which feels like maybe not the energy you need when trying to get little kids to be attentive and excited about having y'alls fingers all up in their mouths. My kids liked this place well enough. But when you have a screen in front of your face with Disney movies, that's an easy way to win the hearts/minds of children. As far as Dr. Doan herself: Sometimes, I felt like I wasn't getting the full story on why certain treatments were recommended or even necessary, or why certain procedures were billed in a particular way. The cynic in me frequently struggled with taking a lot of it at face value. I also found myself mildly miffed when talking with her because the interactions felt condescending. A couple things that annoyed me recently: My dental insurance changed. I... sort of knew this, but didn't really pay attention. My own dentist's office called me prior to my appointment to be like "Hey, we can't find your insurance info" and I told them what I knew, and then they called back to be like "found it, we're all good." In all fairness, it was presumptuous on my part to think that Dr. Doan's office would do something similar. So mea culpa on that part; I'm acknowledging my own fault in the overall story here. That said, when I arrived with my kids, they told me that they didn't have the insurance details. I told them the same thing I told my own dentist's office, and the lady looked it up and told me that the new insurance was out-of-network. And so I was put in a predicament of having to decide to have them proceed with all the dental work and hope that I wouldn't get hit with some exorbitant bill at the end, or cancel the appointments. Here's where I got annoyed: 1. They said that they had tried to reach out to confirm insurance information prior to the visit to avoid situations like this. This is a bold-faced lie. They didn't do anything of the sort. But I didn't really think about this until after I left that it was a bold-faced lie. But that lie put me in a situation where I agreed to the appointment cancellation fee ($30 x 2). The alternative was to continue with the dental services for which I had no way of knowing what the final bill was going to be with the out-of-network insurance plan. 2. There's some mendacity in the word-play that this office does (it's happened a couple times now, because I briefly ended up out-of-network a couple years ago as well) where they make it seem like they're willing to file with all insurances, but if it's out-of-network, then it's beyond their control as far as what billing will look like. That's kind of a half-truth situation; yes it's beyond their control in what the out-of-network insurance will cover, but they also have some say in whether they wish to be in-network or not with any insurance coverage. Additionally, they also have an approximate idea of what they'll end up charging out-of-network patients. So I find it to be disingenuous to say "We'll file with your insurance and see what they say" when they already know that it's out-of-network, but they're still trying to hook you financially for something that may not be in your best interest. It's semantic word-play used to an anti-consumer end, because it's more about getting your money than communicating honestly that their dental practice may not be the best financial option for your family in light of your current coverage. These two points would make this review a single solitary star if it were not for Heather (below). Last thing. So, there was this one interaction a couple years ago I had with an employee named Heather that left me so impressed that I want to draw attention to it now: I had some billing questions, so I called to talk to someone about it, and Heather went well above and beyond what was necessary in getting the answers to my questions. What's that Maya Angelou quote? (hold on, I'm Googling): "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." I don't even remember what Heather said/did anymore (because it's been a minute). I just remember being so appreciative of her efforts that after I got off the phone with her, I searched for Dr. Doan's practice on Yelp, and saved this review with just the word "Heather." And then I forgot about finishing the review (until right now). So here it is, Heather. I don't even know if you're still there. But I appreciate you. Even if I'm not super happy with my overall experience here, I feel like I need to acknowledge whoever this Heather person is. Thanks, won't be back.
