Good experience with Dexa Body to get a Dexa scan for body fat, visceral fat, and bone density. The $75 cost seemed fair and it was super quick, about 15-20 min total upon walking into their van. They give you a report at the end and sort of walk you through it, but very high level so you're still expected to do your own research afterwards (I would give them a 4.5 star due to this). read more

Getting a DEXA body composition scan has been life changing for me. Day after day after day when I was watching what I ate before the scan, I was wondering if I was overweight. By the BMI (body mass index) measure, which looks at weight relative to your height, I was 8 pounds into the "overweight" category. Try as I might, I just couldn't get down to 169 pounds, which would have put me in the "normal" BMI category. People did tell me I looked fine even though I was officially in the "overweight" BMI category, but BMI is used by professional researchers all the time in population studies, so I still wondered if I needed to hold myself to what my BMI said: that I still needed to lose 8 pounds. But a DEXA body composition scan is superior to the BMI measure, and my DEXA results - looking at total body fat % and lean tissue - revealed my weight as it is, is *perfectly fine*. For me, the BMI was misleading, and not to be trusted. The DEXA scan was the truth - and it reassured me that I'm perfectly fine weight-wise. This was a revelation! I now am not worried about whether I need to lose weight, and know I'm fine if I just maintain the weight I'm at. This is such a relief and makes me super happy on a daily basis! --------------------- About my experience at Dexa Body, I would say it all ran quickly and efficiently - and the price is fair for what you get. I give only three stars, however, because they give you a print out of your results, but don't interpret them for you and there's no one to talk to about your results. I was under the impression that after you get your results you could talk to a DEXA scan expert for about 15 minutes, and they'd be able to answer your questions. No such expert exists. Dexa Body gives you a print out of your results and then they send you on your way. I feel Dexa Body ought to put something on their main website where you can go to get help interpreting what your data all means. I love ChatGPT and other chatbots, and they were able to do a comprehensive analysis of my data and I was able to get of all of my questions about my body composition results answered, but a lot of people don't know how to use chatbots like me and might not know what to make of all their data. And even with chatbots, I still would have liked to talk to a human expert. read more

i have had two VO2 max test in the last year and half. the First one they did a miss calculation and said I VO2 max test of over 70. I am 72 year old and my VO2 max is in high 20's. They even admitted this test was wrong. I never received a credit. 10 days ago ( stupidly) I did another VO2 max test. Have not gotten results in 10 days as promised. calling them is useles, they said they could send raw data, not adjusted for type of test taken. Simply they do not know what they are doing!!! I literally made my profile yesterday and booked my appointment for this morning at 9:45am. Hubster and I were introduced to BodyComp services through our local gym in North San Diego. The group at the gym was comparing measurements pre- and post- a change in diet and exercise regimen. BodyComp is a mobile unit that comes to your gym and performs these scans. Unfortunately, I got sick and was unable to participate. The owner, James, was the most professional, prompt, attentive, and customer focused representative. He kindly refunded the costs for my scan. He was also great about helping my husband schedule his scans. Hubster (a bit of a bio geek) thought the breakdown was really cool and loved the results BodyComp provided. I just completed my first DEXA Scan this afternoon at the downtown San Diego (G St) location! The process is extremely simple; you lay on a flat scanning table for 5 minutes and then immediately after the staff discuss your results with you. I was impressed with the depth of information you can collect from a simple scan! From visceral fat, to bone density, to muscle mass, to body fat distribution, etc. Its all very fascinating information but also extremely beneficial if you're interested in really dialing in your health and measuring progress and change. I got my first scan today to identify my baseline health level before starting a new fitness and nutrition regimen, so I can measure my results. I feel this information is extremely helpful and will really aid me in quantifying my progress. I plan to get another scan in 90 days. The location itself is fairly nice. A little difficult to find at first glance though. BodyComp is located on the second floor of a gym. Walk into the fitness/training gym and there is a hall/staircase on your left across from the reception desk. There is a very small "BodyComp" logo on the outside of this window (along with a couple other wellness logos). Once you're upstairs, the office is on the far right wall. I walked into the wrong office twice because it wasn't super clearly marked and other offices are the first thing you see. But everyone seems to know people miss the location and just point you kindly along your way. The office was not at all busy. And the room that the DEXA scan is completed in was comfortably warm and very quiet. Following the appointment, the gentleman I worked with (I think his name was Travis... not sure though) sat down and explained my results to me. He was extremely kind and friendly and made sure I understood the basics of all the metrics, plus answered any questions I had. While the price you pay for a DEXA Scan is higher than other body fat composition testing methods, it is by far the most accurate! So I highly recommend it. And the depth of info is fantastic. Next time I go I am definitely interested in getting the RMR and Vo2 testing done alongside my next 90 day DEXA Scan. I'm really glad to have found this little place! I did the DEXA scan. Purchased credits online (discounted when buying multiple scans) and then immediately applied one to my first scan. I was able to book a same-day appointment. I arrived extra early (in case I got lost), and they fit me in right away. I was done, with my results in hand, before my appointment time! The scanner itself was highly amusing. It's wide open, so you don't feel claustrophobic, and it really feels like a giant xerox/photo scanner. The technician was personable and explained my results to me clearly. When I got home, I was able to log into my account and see the full color pdf of the information. The print out is several pages and charts multiple measures -- it doesn't just give you percent body fat, it breaks it down by body area as well. For example, my right leg has more fat, yet weighs less, than my left leg. (Go figure, the right leg has some old injuries that I must be babying too much.) The whole thing was a very positive experience, and I'm looking forward to coming back again to compare results. read more

Within 5 minutes, he had me scheduled to do the scan in their location in Sorrento Valley. I drove up there, was immediately helped and did the scan. WOW.... Body-comp offers a great value. The first time I went I also signed up for the nutritional assessment with Nick. I was unsure whether I'd be able to meet my goal of dropping my fat percentage as I was already pretty low for a woman, but Nick encouraged me to just focus on hunger, eating when I need to, and eating the right kinds of food based on my activity level for the day. It was very helpful and I'm happy to say that after getting my 2nd scan 8 weeks later I lost 4.2 pounds of fat and put on 2.6 pounds of muscle. The numbers sound small but at 16% body fat now I can really see the difference. With the body scan being so accurate, I was able to ditch the scale for that 8 weeks and just focus on building muscle and eating right without worrying about what the scale is telling me.
