Awful, awful experience. Ryan, the sales rep is slow or completely non responsive. The work is garbage. They put one of the two sinks 1 inch from the wall at the end of the slab. It is virtually useless. Then they did not seal between the stone and the tile in the shower. Every step has been half assed, with horrible communication. And very poor workmanship across the project. They have offered no help on these issues. They simply do not care. We asked to speak to a manger and only (eventually) got Ryan who offered no help. Every time we call, they just ignore it. Save yourself. Do not call this place for any reason. Again, a really bad experience beginning to end. read more

I purchased moss boulders and Colorado river rock from DFW in Aubry for a landscape remodel and found them less than easy to work with and unresponsive when I called about a problem. While I take responsibility, I asked for help estimating the river rock and after giving them the sq ft area they suggested 3/4 ton and then tried to convince me to go with the full ton. Thankfully I stuck with the lower amount. As it was, there was about a 1/4 ton left over with the 3/4 ton and I had to figure out how to get rid of the rocks that sat in my driveway. With a severe storm and hail predicted in a few days I asked if I could pay the same $200 delivery fee to get the rocks picked up and out of my driveway so I can put my car in the garage. Didn't want a refund. "Nope - we don't do that." I begged. Nope. Did they return my calls when trying to ask for something else? Nope. My car got pummeled of course. From the first day of getting chastised for not checking in (where to enter is confusing) to the goofy and uninformed guy who was supposed to load my rocks the entire experience was far less enjoyable than dealing with Golden Tree Materials in Oak Point. Golden Tree was cheaper, way easier to deal with and were great about communication. They even offered a large boulder placement service. I won't be using DFW again. They struck me as being all about the money and their general manner was as if they had no time for smaller customers. I'll stick with Golden Tree and sorry I didn't use them this time. read more

Ever walk up to a place and immediately get the vibe the employee is sizing you up for a sucker? "Hey, I wonder how much I can take this guy for? Let's find out..." People are right they they have good selection - I'll give them a little credit for that - but the prices we were quoted were waaaay higher than they should have been. Based on the two guys who were talking to each other as I was asking for prices, I had to wonder how much at least one of them was making up on the fly. Yeah, one of those joyous experiences. We drive down the road and try somewhere else and find we were right. This place takes advantage of those who don't shop around. 3rd and last time dealing with this company. For those who are old enough to remember the Three Stooges, that's what you get at the Lewisville location. OTOH, there are three locations and it appears that the mostly absentee owner - "Daron" is too busy to mind his business. That or this is one of those last vestiges of not-everything-is-above-the-table. I knew exactly how much cut stone I needed because the area is a simple rectangle. One in person, several times over the phone DFW assured me that here was approximately 70 square feet (face feet) in a pallet of cut rock. Allowing for gaps, small stones and waste, I initially ordered three pallets of stone. When I arrived to pay, the lead Stooge suggested I get 8" stone but that 8" would cover only 60 face square feet. That seemed odd to me as an area that is 75' x 3' is 225 square feet whether you fill it with raisins or concrete. So Moe said I had to buy 5 pallets or 4 tons MORE which was over $1000 total more than my budget and his original quote. I finished my wall a couple of days ago and "LO AND BEHOLD" exactly two full pallets of stone remaining that I cannot do anything with. Several phone calls and emails to the owner - "Daron" resulted in "crickets" except for him claiming there is a 3 day return policy. Just for the record, I review contracts all day long as part of my regular job. There is not a single letter on the bill of sale describing any conditions. Nothing but excuses from Larry, Moe, Curly and Shemp at Lewisville. (You know those businesses where you write down the names of who you talked to, but when you call back in an hour you get the response: "We don't have anyone with that name here.") Yeah...DFW Stone is that kind of place. Other issues: 1) no scale (weight) certificate - so "just trust us". 2) Damaged stone and equally damaged pallets. 3) 8" stone is NOT. 80% of it was 8.5 to 9. That 12% OVER-SIZED making it impossible to maintain level courses. 4) Similar to 2), huge voids in the center of the pallets - masking the damaged or missing stones from initial inspection at the yard. The issues cannot be seen until after removing the chicken wire wrap and the top layer of stone. End result: same as usual, excuses and suggesting that it my problem. Still debating if I will call my credit card company and dispute the two pallets. Also debating legal action...but at $250/hour for an attorney...probably no "there - there". read more

We placed another order with them, and Dustin was a great help. We received our beautiful rocks quickly and without any issues. The delivery driver was incredibly nice as well! Called about ordering 2 tons of Colorado river rock based on images from the website per the employee suggestion. They looked nice and mostly grey. Was happy to see them delivered so quickly, but unfortunately the river rocks delivered were not the same color as the images on their website. These were more of a rainbow pattern. Called to initiate a simple return/reimbursement due to the discrepancy and was told I would get a call back before the end of business-- Did not get a call. The next day I called again to follow up and the same employee who helped with the initial sale told me that I could have the 2 tons of river rocks for free with my reimbursement for the inconvenience. I thought, "wow, great customer service." But when I finally arrived at the office to get my reimbursement the same employee tried to lecture and guilt trip me for not looking at the stone in person before buying... as if it's my fault their website image is incorrect. Also told me that I could not have the product for free and that someone would be coming to pick it all up within the next day. So now I have to waste more time to scoop 2 tons of large Colorado river rocks out of my beds and put them near the driveway since this company decided to take back the stone it gave to me for the inconvenience it caused in the first place. Wasted so much time and energy with this place. From the good reviews I'm sure they treat most other people well, but I was treated poorly and I thought I would share my bad experience since there's not much else I can do. We have dealt with DFW Stone for a few years. They have a huge selection of stone and boulders, which is what we are always shopping for. Their prices are reasonable. Kenny and the staff are always friendly and eager to assist. Their delivery guy Trey is very professional and patient. We had large boulders delivered and Trey was very helpful with placement. The manager tried to charge me triple the price I was quoted prior to arriving to select the stones that I needed for my project. When I arrived I asked again how much b weight where certain types of stone. After selecting my stones I had an employee weigh them before I paid for them just in case some funny business happened because I didn't have a good feeling about this place at that time. The manager just looked at the stones a blurted a price. I said that was incorrect and I told I didn't know what I was talking about. I asked if the stones could be weighed. The manager whispered something to a different employee. I followed the employee and I fought the employee changing the weight on the scale twice. The employee told the manager at which point he threw a temper tantrum, slamming his pen and paper to the countertop and cussing. That was an horrible experience. I'll never go back. read more

good supply of landscape stone. really like the colorado bolder selection with many colors and sizes. bulk aggregate. the property itself is not inviting. even though the business is mostly conducted outdoors the cigarette smoking is a huge turn off especially for my health issues. its not welcoming to have someone literally light up a cigarette and THEN walk over to ask what you need. i do not enjoy myself or vehicle to stink all day. nor do i need to hear foul language. it is still a business correct? we did not return for our second order but went down the road to a facility who is professional. read more

Very impressed with DFW Stone Supply. We shopped around online and the prices all seemed comparable. This place was closest to our house and was recommended by a relative so we stopped by. We were VERY impressed with the service received from Kenny and everyone we worked with. They were very helpful throughout the selection process and made us feel comfortable and in good hands. We hand selected two pallets of medium moss rock, and they were very patient and ensured we would receive the exact rocks we selected. Kenny gave us an estimated cost then called once the stones were weighted with the actual cost which was very close to the estimate. The delivery charge was flat and reasonable. They were agreeable to holding the stones for a week before delivery and the delivery driver easily troubleshooted construction obstacles on our street to make the delivery go smoothly. Deceptive business practices! Was quoted $ 260.00 for a ton of Oklahoma flag stone, and after getting home noticed they had charged $ 300.00. Didn't notice right away because I had purchased additional items and the final bill was well over $ 300.00. When I called to ask about the discrepancy, they said that 260 was the 'contractor' price. Would have been nice had they asked during my initial call, but that didn't happen. Its only 40 bucks, but felt like I had been deceived. I like to support small business and try to stay away from the big box stores, but will not shop there again. read more

After reading the reviews, we drove over an hour to this rock/stone yard and Mike was helpful and very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, he sent us to the Prosper location to get the stone we had chosen. Sadly, the Prosper location was a totally different culture. No one was interested in helping us, and the stone we were looking for was NOT IN STOCK as promised. The yard manager was very arrogant and downright rude (to other customers as well while we were waiting) and was terribly disrespectful to both customers and other employees. Realizing that we didn't trust this situation, we left and called the yard manager in Lewisville-thinking that he'd want to be aware of the miscommunication and the potential lost customer. We spoke on the phone and he promised to look into the matter and call us back on Friday and that did not happen. Today I spoke with Daryn Hopkins, owner, who made the excuse that the group should only deal with contractors since they didn't have good people skills. Contractors don't deserve common courtesy or respect? Really? We've dealt with two other yards that had enormous contractor volume and they managed to be amazing to even a lowly customer....Keep looking-it's worth your time and effort!!! read more

I am finishing up a major remodel of my backyard. It included extensive fence work, sod replacement and stone work. I happened to stop by DFW Stone on my way back from the Lewisville landfill. I was surprised at the sheer volume and variety of stone products they had in stock. I was quickly greeted by an enthusiastic employee who walked around with me as I explained my stone needs for my upcoming backyard project. He was genuinely interested in making sure all my questions were answered and helped me narrow down my stone choices. Although not a commercial account, he made me feel my purchase was important no matter the size. I ended up buying several different materials from them. One nice thing is there is no minimum when purchasing materials from them. It is certainly worth the short drive as you will save a bunch over buying things like pea gravel or sand from the big box stores. They also carry metal landscape edging in all colors. ( I bought nearly forty pieces). It's not that cheap, lightweight stuff, it's ten feet long and comes with the heavy metal stakes. One thing that impressed me most about this company is that I purchased a pallet of flagstone for my yard. When I got it home, I realized I didn't like what I picked out. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to swap it out with no questions asked. You won't find a nicer group of people to work with than at DFW Stone. Stop by. Misrepresent their products; We ordered Decomposed Granite from Lewisville for xeriscape walkways and hardscaping. What they sell is absolutely NOT DG, It is mostly all yellow orange stones with less than 5% fines of -3/8", most as large as 1"-4" (a few small boulder size) i saw they sell Oklahoma yellow cut stone I'm guessing they throw in all the broken pieces of it as well as any other misc. stone scraps they want to get rid of. The sales associate with manager standing next to him, said "just break the larger stones up with a hammer"! I guess you get what you pay for, as their price was a bit lower.
