This was my first venture out alone since breaking my ankle and she went as far as to put my knee scooter in a safe place while I shopped and when I got done she brought the scooter out to my car and drove the electric rider back into the store. She went above and beyond and it made such a difference for my experience out to Food Lion.

Today, I presented a coupon for "$5 off $65 or more" and was informed that it had expired two days ago. I explained that I shop here every week and asked if they would be kind enough to honor this coupon? The manager, Sam, simply shook her head at me and walked away. Now, I understand that I didn't realize the coupon was expired and if it had been more than a few days old I wouldn't care...but as a customer who spends $100+ in this store every week, who knows all of the cashiers by name, who knows that they know my face and see me every other day in this store because it is the only store within 20 miles, I expected a little more courtesy. This store seriously needs customer service training and management skills training. I used to be a cashier at a grocery store and things like not greeting your patrons, gossiping with your friend or colleague while you are ringing someone up, and having only two registers open with the line backing up and not calling for extra hands in simply not acceptable. Just another example of the Town of Hertford's motto: "Why even try to be good or impressive when your the only option?"

I liked the store as a whole. It is much nicer than other grocery stores I have been in. Almost on the level of Harris Teeter if you will in this area. I guess a tip for shopping here, plan ahead. Especially if you are in town on vacation. It'll make for a better experience, less time spent browsing, and not having to deal with all that havoc of everyone else having the same idea as you when you get to the area.

On that note Saturdays and Sundays are always busier because that's when rentals begin and end so if you can avoid those days, the line won't be quite as bad for check out. You can get everything here that you can find at any other grocery store and then some! They have a large selection of beach stuff too, which is a huge plus. So go get all your food, toiletries, beach goodies, wine & beer, and any other necessities you may need to stock that house and then go get your butt on that beach, toes in the sand, drink in hand and have fun!
