We do retreats from 7-14 days at our beautiful center in the Ozark mountains, that are based on the earliest Buddhist teachings of Metta (Loving Kindness) as part of the Brahmavihara practice. This leads you to awakening in this very life. At only $40 per day that includes everything you can book a retreat that fits your schedule.
Rustic cabins, meals are all included with a modern dining hall, Kitchen and beautiful new Meditation Hall. Crystals are embedded in the walls and the foundation that were mined from Arkansas and elsewhere. You are surrounded by the forest which comes alive at night with the sounds of a deep jungle. Don't worry -no tigers or elephants to worry about!
History
Established in 2003.
After 12 years in Asia Bhante Vimalaramsi returned to America and with the help of some American students established a small center in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri. A few small cabins has now become a fully operational center with main dining hall and kitchen and beautiful meditation hall constructed and completed in 2013. DSMC now serves as the spiritual hub for his teachings and residence.
Meet the Business Owner: Bhante V.
Bhante Vimalaramsi has studied with several monks who held the title of "Bhivamsa". Among them were Venerable U Pandita, U Lakkhana, U Silananda, U Janaka, U Dhammananda, U Dhammapia. He further studied with The Mingun Sayadaw, who had memorized the entire Tripitika, Sayadaw U Thatilla, who had a pure audiographic memory was one of his teachers.
Other teachers he spent longer periods of time with were the late Most Ven K Sri Dhammananda, Venerable Punnaji, Ajahn Yanitra, Ajahn Buddhadasa, Ajahn Cha Lee, Ajahn Santititho, and some others in Thailand.
In 2003, he founded the United international Buddha Dhamma Society [UIBDS] in 2003 and created Dhamma Sukha Meditation Center and Monastery [DSMC] in 2005 in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri near Annapolis, Missouri. He currently resides there and teaches year round personal retreats and offers private Sutta study for any interested persons. He travels during the Winter season, doing retreats and talks in Asia and Europe.
