I found Lindsay's services on a whim on Yelp, probably about 10 years ago as I was trying to start doing better with self care and relaxation. Her facials aren't your average facials, they are relaxation experiences approached with good vibes and kindness. She'll tailor the experience based on your skin needs, always going above and beyond. She even allowed me to bring my baby when she was little and kept an eye on the stroller for me so I could relax. The location- make sure to check your email or website for parking, but it's a sweet like house with a salon next door. The products- some homemade, many for source vital, always high qualify. The pricing- it probably seems high at first but after your first visit, you'll understand why. It's worth budgeting for it. Availability- book early and not too close big events. I got the Dharma Facial this week. This is an 1.5 hour spa treatment differs from the Dalia in that it includes a mask, extractions and some other extra touches. Lindsay was kind enough to "go gentle" on the extractions since I had small plans for the weekend, and she also extended an invitation for me to come back the following week to complete any last "zaps." I wanted something to compare her to, so I went on to try other people that were recommended to me and even the triple diamond spa at the Post Oak Hotel. I thought I'd start out 2011 by reviewing an independently-owned business in the good old Montrose area. I had the address but almost missed it! There is not a sign that is visible from the street. Dharma is located on the left portion of a duplex on the north side of Welch. I knew of Lindsay when she was located at Dot Dot Salon, but, at the time, I was going to Chrysalis for my facials. Lately I have been in flux about Chrysalis so I decided to give Dharma a try. I booked the Indulge Facial, and, before we began, Lindsay gave me a detailed description of what I could expect. A couple of steps were invigorating and quite potent so it was nice to have the heads-up. She uses Source Vital products which are based right here in Houston. They have a holistic philosophy and create products using algae powders, seaweed, plant extracts, and pure essential oils. Also they are not tested on animals. The great advantage to getting the Indulge Facial is that there is a neck, back, and foot massage included! I am used to getting deep tissue massages which are therapeutic but not relaxing. So when I found myself almost in dream land when Lindsay softly tells me my facial is over, it took me a minute or two to come back to reality. LIFE CHANGING! I booked the Indulge Facial with Cara for my birthday and it was seriously the highlight of the day. Cara did such an amazing job of making me comfortable and at ease, and took her time to explain what she was dong and what to expect. I gotta admit I was a little scared, it was my first facial, but I really shouldn't have been. LOVED the shoulder and foot massages as well! I will also say that although I've never had extractions before, they were a little uncomfortable, but nothing compared to what I expected. So completely in love with my experience I immediately book a Dharma Facial for next month. Treat Yourself! My only regret is I cant afford to do it weekly lol. EDIT 10/01/16 I received a call today that Cara is no longer at this place and my next appointment was canceled and there is no way to book a service with ANYONE here anymore. I had been trying to get in with Lindsay for a few weeks but it was during the time that she was expanding her business so took a little longer to get in. Eventually it turned out that Lindsay was not taking new clients but she had two new team members who were. With all the positive reviews on yelp I made my way to Cara for a relaxing 1.5 hour Dharma Facial (more like 2 hours) which was great. The spa is small and only has one table but once the treatment started I felt very relaxed. Looking back, I realize that the price of the facials increased substantially between the time I first tried to get an appointment and when I eventually did. If memory serves me, the Dharma facial (the most expensive one) increased from $125 to $180 which is a 44% jump. Granted, Lindsay made major changes to the business (expanded, I'm presuming due to demand) and so that is fine. I guess I understand those prices if you were to see Lindsay who is tried, tested, and obviously amazing based on all the reviews - but I am not sure these prices are justified for her new estheticians who do not have the same breadth of experience as Lindsay. While Cara was good, I believe she is new to the field (per the dharma website - "I am a recent graduate of the Institute of Cosmetology and Esthetics" and I don't think the price tag fits her experience level. read more

I was well overdue for a facial and found this gem thanks to my fellow yelpers and their reviews! I called the day before and got to make an appointment with Cara, as Lindsay, is no longer accepting new clients. Prior to my appointment, Lindsay gave me a run through of some of the different type of facials that mat be of benefit to me. The spa is actually located in a home ( turned into a business). It smelled wonderful, dimmed lights, and very cozy. I got the Replenish- 45 min $90. This facial included extractions but Cara went gentle, and still got the job done. The treatment includes, two cleanses, exfoliation, steam and warm towels.The service I choose was all that it was supposed to be and very relaxing on top of that! The products used, kept my face feeling great for the next 3 days! I notice a difference in my skin and I absolutely cannot wait to go back and get another facial. I'll admit, this review is LONG overdue. I had my Dharma (hour and a half) facial months and months ago, but Yelp and I were going through separation, so... WIth that being said, the facial was incredible! Unfortunately, I am a teacher, so I can't throw down $120 for this kind of luxury very often, but I highly recommend going if/when you can. I had the pleasure of getting the Dharma facial with Lindsay the first time during the Yelp Spa Week when she worked over at Dot Dot Salon. The service was great but full price was a bit cost-prohibitive for me. Fast forward a few months and Lindsay opened her own salon, Dharma Skin Spa, with the same great service and lower prices! She uses all organic ingredients in her facials and her signature, The Dharma is an hour and a half of full-on cleaning and bliss! Besides the cleansing, exfoliating, getting rid of unsightly blackheads and the like, you also get extremely pampered, including a back/shoulder, neck/head, hands and foot massage. I left glowing, skin hydrated beyond belief and will definitely be back soon! A few days later, she emailed me the products we used, including all the ingredient listings, so I know whats going in my skin. Holy cats, Lindsay is amazing! If I had the choice of hopping aboard a weekend cruise ship or receiving the Indulge facial 3 times, I'd go for the facials. First, Lindsay went out of her way to squeeze in my last-minute appointment so I could be polished clean for a wedding the next weekend. She was clear on timing expectations and worked within the time frame we discussed so I could be punctual to my next appointment, and she was so conscientious to keep track of time so that I could totally trust her and relax into the experience. Aside from the excellent customer service, Lindsay's aesthetician skills, product choices, and ability to create a comfortable space are all top notch. I've been lurking her website for some time now because of all the great yelp reviews, and they're all true. She is downright, one of the most genuinely nicest person I've met in the service industry. She worked on a pimple of mine, and got me out within 10 minutes. The only bummer was that I didn't get to experience a full facial treatment from her. Opted for a Dharma Facial upgrade - 1.5 hours of pampering. My skin felt facial-soft for 3 days, the extra face mask was really nice. Extractions are a necessary evil - but Lindsay's was probably the least invasive, or painful, I've had. She thoroughly inspects your skin for those unwanted sights. I had a growing pimple (not yet visible but I felt it under the skin) and she was able to remove it flawlessly... No signs of skin damage or scarring. Skin stays red for about 2-3 days so beware if you have an event on the weekend. Lindsay is a great business owner and works really hard to maintain repeat customers. I found Dharma Skin Spa on Yelp. From the reviews, it seemed like exactly the place I was searching for: quaint, local, with great service. I have sensitive skin and am getting married in 7 days, so I was simply looking for a facial to remove dirt, excess oil, and mild blemishes. I got so much more!!! The facial itself was warm, intoxicating, and a luxurious experience (the extraction process less so but it was over quickly enough). It was such a nice way to treat myself, and afterwards all of the stress from the wedding and work simply melted away. I will be going back the day before my wedding for a back facial (its a low cut dress), and will probably make a standing monthly appointment. Cara is great! Never had a facial before I'm almost 99% sure you can't beat an experience like this! I have plenty of female friends and they told me there are always issues because the person doing the massaging is too rough or too gentle or the products are too aggressive but none of these were issues. Cara has an amazing touch and it was never unpleasant or too rough. The crazy water pillow back massage was like...WAIT WHAT IS THIS! After searching for a long time for a good, natural, facial in Houston and after reading all the wonderful reviews, I decided to give Dharma Skin Spa a chance. Cara took care of me and just was very thorough but gentle, and my skin is feeling great! I'm happy to know that all the skin products she used where natural, without any added chemical and she gave a lot of great tips. I bought one of the facial moisturizers from Source Vital and Cara also recommended using other essential oils, and reassured me that oil washing is awesome for my skin.
