Day of the move the crew showed up on time and they were great handling our items. We did pack and box most of our possessions outside of a few larger bulkier things like a couch and a desk. They took care of everything, loaded our items on their truck, and off they went. We were given an approximate 55 day delivery window but we were pleasantly surprised when our things showed up one month to the day! The crew that delivered were great, we directed where in the home to leave boxes and furniture. We had a great experience from booking, to pick up, to delivery. The price was awesome as well, we did save a substantial amount because we boxed 95% of the home ourselves with boxes ready to go. I'd definitely recommend Honolulu Movers to handle your move!

You could say I have a lot of experience with movers as I inherited my father's personally woodworked furniture which added to my own collection that he made for me. I have a lot of sentimental (and heavy) stuff plus I have a herniated disc, so moving is even more overwhelming. And moving every year for so long has been so much less than ideal. I had a go-to mover but they didn't reply when I reached out so I figured I would try someone new out bc, maybe I can have options. Incredibly, Making Moves packed everything much more thoroughly and somehow the move seemed shorter...?! Even accounting for the shorter distance, this move was seriously fast but not lacking one bit in caution. And here is the kicker, it was less expensive too and the team was bigger. I still love the other mover but this team has beyond proved itself so I guess this is my first choice mover now. Treat this team right. They are in demand for a reason.

They also brought stuff to our house, to the dump, and to donate!!! They worked all day and helped us organize things in the new storage unit so that we can easily find things. They also were very patient with us us as we figured stuff out. The cost was pretty decent compared to what other companies charge. Considering it was 3 guys, a full truck, and a pretty big and long job as well as the fact that they never complained and were friendly the whole time I think that it was definitely worth what we paid. Call or email them to get a quote and they stick to it. There was even a point where we couldn't find our comic collection after we were pretty much done for the day but they went back to our storage unit with me to help me look for it and make sure we didn't lose it. You won't regret giving them a chance to help you move!

The Pros: * They were flexible with timing. * They quickly disassembled and assembled my desk. * They were willing to work past their standard service hours, staying until 9:30 PM to finish the job. The Cons: * Extreme Disrespect: Despite specifically hiring and paying for packing services, we overheard the crew complaining about having to pack. Even worse, they were caught calling me "incompetent" and saying I didn't know what I was doing while I was in my own home. We addressed it on the spot, but the atmosphere was incredibly hostile and soured the entire day. * Poor Workmanship: We had already pre-packed many of our own boxes, but the items they handled were treated with zero care. * Major Damages: The total cost of the move was $1,195 for 5+ hours of work. However, the day after the move, I discovered over $2,000 worth of items, some irreplaceable, were damaged due to their poor packing. While I appreciate that they stayed late until 9:30 PM to get the furniture moved, the verbal abuse and the destruction of my property made the "cheap" rate a total illusion. Bottom Line: My lesson was learned--don't go cheap. Between the insults and the $2k+ in damages, this was a bad experience. Do not use for FULL SERVICE.

They didn't use the box I purchased and assured me would be better out of the box. My fault for not insisting on using the box. Our tv stand suffered minor dings, like paint chips, I was able to cover it up with some touch up paint so no big deal. I would recommend them if you protect your own items well.

After numerous phone calls between the agent, moving company rep (the ONLY ONE at Ewa Moving who was helpful & went above & beyond) and even the owner of Ewa Moving, items were finally picked up at 3:45p. They loaded up half because their "largest" truck couldn't do the complete move knowing full well it was 2 completely filled storage units. They finally got to my new home at 6:20p. They were supposed to set things up with what they had. Instead they left it in the garage. When I informed the owner his response was "Ok whatever we didn't finish, XXXXXXX will complete" Wow - lack of professionalism. He made it seem like it was my fault. As a customer I shouldn't have to be making endless phone calls & chasing down movers. This was a contracted move through a moving company. Even they were surprised at the attitude. I cannot ever recommend a company that treats their customers this way. Martin (the owner) says they do a lot of military moves. I'd think twice if they treat locals this way. *The rating would be a No Star but that's not an option.

The local CA company they used (I believe it was Pioneer) was amazing. They missed 2 tiny drawers but I was able to pack it in my suitcase. I'd highly recommend the CA moving company. Once our household items arrived in HI (it took just under 6 weeks from the time they finished in CA & it was moved into storage in HI) we were contacted to see if we wanted to watch our items being stored. We agreed. Chris was there to meet us (very nice & helpful. Walked us through it) & it seemed to go smoothly. He left half way & the unloaders slowed down. 1 quick phone call & it was back on track. We are pleased with the storage facilities. Secure & temperature controlled. The only hiccup worth mentioning is the 1 of the unloaders was on his phone 98% of the time. Even while pushing the carts he had his phone up to his face. He was young lol. We did have to mention that some of the boxes that said "this side up" meant they needed to store it a certain way. Overall I'd recommend working with Eugene & Chris.

The owner called the day before scheduled installation and said he needed to push back our time and I told him I didn't want to hear that. The order was made weeks ago. He blamed the issue on Best Buy. I scheduled time off on a Friday to be at home for this. Friday: they are on the north shore all day but they say they'll come late in the day, 6 pm. Long story short they call very late to say they'll be over at 9 pm! I call their bluff and say OK, come on over. A call later: oh we will be there at 10 pm or so... uh, yeah right. Eventually they say they will come the next day. They come and install the fridge but crack a tile (we notice this after they leave). They don't follow up with me after contact about the crack. It's only due to a subsequent (and incomplete) 2nd installation that I get the owner back to our home to address everything. Unfortunately he arrives at the end of the day with his pushy girlfriend/ "CFO". The CFO pushes the tile repair responsibility on us to find a tile to replace the cracked one, all the while insinuating that we are not being truthful about ODMIS' fault in the matter. Worst installations not just ever, but worst imaginable considering their relationship with Best Buy. Ben, don't even bother writing a response to this review. You never got back in touch with us to make things right. We ended up replacing the floor at our own cost.
