I forget the movers names but they were both prompt, handled my items delicately with care, didn't take their sweet time they worked very very hard, disassembled and reassembled a near 50 year old antique silik hutch that I have inherited , they moved everything exactly where it needed to be in my new place, were very polite and respectful and did not damage anything or steal at all. I've dealt with another moving company in the past where I suspected some jewelry went missing. They are the quickest at responses, very reasonable pricing, flexible with their schedules, all in all I am very satisfied and have asked them to move another thing for me as well. 10/10 recommend. They also brought stuff to our house, to the dump, and to donate!!! They worked all day and helped us organize things in the new storage unit so that we can easily find things. They also were very patient with us us as we figured stuff out. The cost was pretty decent compared to what other companies charge. Considering it was 3 guys, a full truck, and a pretty big and long job as well as the fact that they never complained and were friendly the whole time I think that it was definitely worth what we paid. Call or email them to get a quote and they stick to it. There was even a point where we couldn't find our comic collection after we were pretty much done for the day but they went back to our storage unit with me to help me look for it and make sure we didn't lose it. You won't regret giving them a chance to help you move!

You could say I have a lot of experience with movers as I inherited my father's personally woodworked furniture which added to my own collection that he made for me. I have a lot of sentimental (and heavy) stuff plus I have a herniated disc, so moving is even more overwhelming. And moving every year for so long has been so much less than ideal. I had a go-to mover but they didn't reply when I reached out so I figured I would try someone new out bc, maybe I can have options. Incredibly, Making Moves packed everything much more thoroughly and somehow the move seemed shorter...?! Even accounting for the shorter distance, this move was seriously fast but not lacking one bit in caution. And here is the kicker, it was less expensive too and the team was bigger. I still love the other mover but this team has beyond proved itself so I guess this is my first choice mover now. Treat this team right. They are in demand for a reason.

The second move involved coming the day before to pack up our kitchen, then moving our apartment furniture and packed boxes into our new house. Before the moves, Alfredo came over to assess how much stuff we had and then gave us a quote that was competitive and reflected the actual cost of the move. He had 4 guys do the move -- it's much cheaper to have more guys because they do the move faster and you spend less money. They guys were all very respectful and sweet. Both moves happened fast and efficiently and all our items were moved with great care. Nothing was broken or scratched and the guys remove their shoes before coming in the house. I will absolutely be using Alfredo and his team for all my future moving needs.

If you use them, make sure you protect your own furniture by wrapping it well. This is the mistake I made. Also our tv was damaged, no cracked screen, we just have a vertical line during certain images on the left edge of the screen now. It was an expensive oled, we spent over 4k for it. They didn't use the box I purchased and assured me would be better out of the box. My fault for not insisting on using the box. Our tv stand suffered minor dings, like paint chips, I was able to cover it up with some touch up paint so no big deal. I would recommend them if you protect your own items well.

Sahara was friendly and communicated well with the prices and the services they offered. If you need junk removal and cleaning, they provide those services too for extra fees. Overall I was pleased. Nothing broke, damaged or scratched. They dropped off our boxes and furniture in the room we wanted. They finished at a decent amount of time with circumstances out of their control (elevator got hijacked by other residents without proper reservation in both condos), but the movers tried their best to move efficiently.

We addressed it on the spot, but the atmosphere was incredibly hostile and soured the entire day. * Poor Workmanship: We had already pre-packed many of our own boxes, but the items they handled were treated with zero care. * Major Damages: The total cost of the move was $1,195 for 5+ hours of work. However, the day after the move, I discovered over $2,000 worth of items, some irreplaceable, were damaged due to their poor packing. While I appreciate that they stayed late until 9:30 PM to get the furniture moved, the verbal abuse and the destruction of my property made the "cheap" rate a total illusion. Bottom Line: My lesson was learned--don't go cheap. Between the insults and the $2k+ in damages, this was a bad experience. Do not use for FULL SERVICE.

My next few calls were with Jordan who seemingly was available 24/7. He never missed a call and helped me navigate a tricky move. He was transparent and realistic about what expectations my family and I should have. He went above and beyond to take care of my family as if they were his own relatives. On moving day, Ty and Brandon were unbelievably efficient, hardworking, thorough and kind. My grandma doesn't speak much English but the language barrier proved no problem in the face of Ty and Brandon's kindness. Ty and Brandon were undoubtedly impressive. Professional from start to finish. Crazy strong and fast. They were efficient yet careful. No damage to any of our belongings. Ty and Brandon worked quickly in order to help my family save costs--even doing extra things to help like move a whole fridge to make my life easier. What was estimated to take 3.5-5 hours took the pair of them 2.5 hours. This is with one tall flight of stairs at the old apartment and FOUR flights of winding stairs at the new. Unreal. My family has moved twice before but no other moving company left anywhere near the same positive impression as YouMoveMe. Tyron and Brandon left quite the impression on my family--so much so that they know who they want to call for their next move. YouMoveMe humanizes the moving experience and actually makes it enjoyable. They offer the best prices and best service. In the beginning, we rented there when It was A-American storage and then it changed to Extra Space storage. We were there 20+ years. My only major concern that made us leave this storage facility is it raised our rent pretty frequently, and when I complained about it they responded by saying they have no control over it. Extra space storage can raise the rent every quarter or to the industry standard (unknown what that means.) if they desired. I moved several times to a smaller unit to lower the monthly cost just to have them rapidly raise my rent by at least $50. I finally got fed up with receiving post cards from Extra space storage telling me that my rent was going up again. This last time I moved out and two months later here comes the $50 increase. I'm in a good storage now with no surprise rental raises. Extra charge storage, I meant extra space storage is now a distant memory. Remember, if your Needs are not being met, you have other choices to choose from. Aloha

I have traveled a lot for work/pleasure and know how to navigate rental car agencies pretty well. Every once in a while they get one over me, especially recent with the electric vehicle push. I also almost always avoid off airport rentals as a rule. Given the price and the glowing reviews I thought I would give Lucky Owl a shot. I'm very glad I did. The pickup process was super easy, just walked across the street from the southwest baggage claim where the pickup spot #4 was designated. Made the call and they were there rather quick. At the counter there was no sales push or tactics, they just verified my ID and CC then handed me the keys. Their rules were clearly laid out next to the window. They took photos of the cars condition and encouraged me to do the same. I also received the exact car stated on my reservation. No issues with the car for the 2 weeks we were there. Someone mentioned you blend in with their cars as a local, I don't know how but it did feel that way, hahaha. I especially liked the rubber floor mats which made cleaning easy. My one recommendation would be a trunk/hatch rubber mat. I know they are much harder to come by, but it would help with sandy beach gear. Speaking of, they even offer to rent beach gear! My airbnb came with some, but its great to know for next time. Drop off was just as easy as pickup. Their rental terms mention excess sand has a fee and there is a Texaco close to their location with vacuums. I wasn't sure if we had reached the "excess" level but why not treat the car with respect and clean up after yourself since Lucky Owl treated us well. When I got back they took a couple photos of the condition just like the pickup and had the shuttle ready to take me to the airport. No question I will be renting from here again next time in Oahu! They also have some friendly cats to greet you.

We had a mishap with the key fob not working while we were at the beach on the east side of the…read moreisland. When we realized it wasn't working, we immediately opened up the fob and found old looking corrosion inside around the battery area. We put a new battery in it and left it open to dry out (if moisture had gotten in it). After troubleshooting to no avail, I called the company and they sent someone out charging a $75 "roadside assistance fee" where a representative brought out a spare key fob. Unfortunately, the replacement fob did not start the car (or even unlock/lock the car). The representative was friendly, but not knowledgeable on other troubleshooting steps to get us back on the road. With the replacement fob taken apart (to swap/replace the battery) the original fob eventually started the car. We even tested it further by turning off and on the car a few times to make sure the old fob was working again. We then drove the vehicle to our next destination, and when we went to leave the car wouldn't start again... we made the most of it and had dinner while further drying out the original fob to see if that would help. In the meantime the company sent a replacement vehicle (at no additional charge). When the rep went to start the original car, it stated right away. The following day, I received a voicemail to go over the additional replacement fob and roadside assistance charges. The voicemail said to reference the email and/or call back for questions. I never received the email after 10 minutes of checking, and then I got a large credit card notification; $350 for the damaged key and $75 for the roadside assistance. I didn't appreciate being charged without being talked to first. When I immediately called back to politely ask some clarifying questions, the person on the phone was very rude and raised his voice to me and my wife. Given that the original fob appeared to have prior water damage and the fact that it did start the car (after drying out, replacing the battery) it was disappointing to be charged $425 for something that may, or may not, have been our fault. And to then be yelled at for asking questions. At the end of the day, the whole ordeal cost us valuable vacation time, added stress, and drastically altered our plans. The car rental itself was affordable but the first car we ended up with was older and a little dingy.

I used this company for my first big move. The men arrived on time and packed up my house in less than than I would have believed possible. I was impressed by their efficiency, but they have a few shortcomings that I (and my favorite heirlooms) will always regret. The person I spoke to while scheduling the move, said that Dyer & Sons were qualified to move pianos and fine furniture. But my beautiful antique desk arrived with a leg snapped off because it was packed among heavy furniture without any padding. They also did a frightful job with my piano. Professional piano movers are supposed to transport pianos on furniture dollies and lift them onto the truck. These movers rolled my piano a long distance over rough pavement (which the casters are not intended to withstood). Then I watched in horror as they made several running attempts to shove my piano up a narrow ramp, a method dangerous to both pianos and people. When my piano arrived at my new home, I discovered that the finish had been permanently damaged by large quantities of packing tape they used to fasten cardboard to it as padding. What a callous way to treat a musical instrument. But most of my things did arrive safely and I think the company is not all bad. A minor incidence was that they also took a black garbage bag full of trash and calculated the weight in the transportation charges. That was a slightly funny, but also annoying. A good point is that the men did not pressure me for high tips, which happened with another moving company. read more

Told the guys I'd give them 10/5 stars if I could, and I really mean it! This was our first PCS. I've read all the horror stories and have spent countless hours thinking about what could go wrong. But today, the day they packed our goods, was by far the easiest day of the process so far! Not only were they kind, personable, and considerate, but they were incredibly detailed, careful, and quick. Our team was Zander, Domingo, and Levi, and they labeled the contents of every box along with what room they belong to so the mainland company can (hopefully) put them in the right place. Each box was wrapped tight and stuffed with paper to pad the items. We had way more stuff than we expected and they were in and out within 12 hours (which, if you've ever packed and moved anything you know is lightning speed!) We hardly lifted a finger. They were super duper nice too. The only downside is that they're not putting themselves in the crates so that they'll be there when our stuff gets to the mainland.. drats! All in all, an absolutely painless process. Thank you so much!! read more

I moved my mother from Burnsville, Minnesota (south Minneapolis) to Honolulu in April 2017 to move her into my home. M. Dyer & Sons arranged for a quote in Minnesota and retained the mainland mover to pack us and arrange ground transportation to the west coast, then by boat to Hawaii. Steve and Tom talked me through the stress of getting ready for the packing and move, answered my questions, were so patient and helpful. They delivered my mother's furniture with the care it was packed, movers were helpful and did what was needed and more. Loved the movers attitude at both ends. EVERYTHING about the work was excellent, other than the stress of such a big move. Local move is always easier and less costly, but it is what it is when you move so far by necessity. After much research on relocation companies and looking at BBB I had M. Dyer and other companies come out and give me an estimate on my household goods. The rates from most of them are competitive but after realizing the M. Dyer had such a clean record on BBB I decided to use them for my move from Mililani to Henderson. I made a good choice. Steve Watanabe even came out to my home twice to look over all of my stuff after I decided to downsize the load. They even delivered both of my cars directly to Henderson for an added cost that was not much more than if we had shipped it to Long Beach ourselves. From the time they came to pack up my household goods and cars to the arrival at Long Beach, then finally to Henderson I was contacted by someone every step of the way. We had originally been planning on renting a UHaul from Pam (WSS) but I figured that this might be better since our move was from Waianae to Makiki. I contacted Hero and they called me back. . .I swear like 12 minutes later. I spoke to Jordan and received a rough quote, informing him that our move date was still fluid. A few weeks later we got our confirmation into the apartment and I actually communicated with Jordan through TEXT to sign the quote and make the final arrangements as I had gotten sick and lost my voice. That was VERY useful because it took a few days for my voice to come back. From Waianae to Makiki I was quoted under $1,500 to move furniture from the single bedroom we were in to a one bedroom apartment. Which might seem like a lot for 2 desks, 2 shelves, a bed and boxes but you need to remember that this is Waianae to Makiki. . . Anyway, 3 days before the move disaster struck! Our new landlord decided that they didn't want us there and they were going to keep the apartment empty in order to have an easier time selling the building in the future. With 72 hours notice I was able to contact Jordan and redirect our move from Makiki to our storage unit at Waikele Self Storage. What did Jordan say? "Yes we can!" No additional charges, no argument, no triggering some weird policy to make the process a pain, just a "Yeah, sure." Which was excellent in such a stressful situation. Moving day! Our crew was great. They packed random loose items fast, hauled furniture out quickly and safely, and were respectful in our home. They moved 5 large furniture items down a hall, a flight of stairs and down another hall without hitting a single wall, navigating long furniture items down our tight staircase with no damage. The people they sent, who gave us their names but my ADHD couldn't hold onto them, were approachable, friendly and thorough throughout the process and they were in and out quick. Once we got to WSS they helped us load everything into our unit, called their boss, their boss called me and everything was paid for. This was such an easy process from when I picked up the advertisement in the storage office to when we watched them drive away with our money. 10/10 service, I highly recommend Hero Moving.

No inventory of boxes checked off. I have sent recipts and pictures of damage, which I was told to do. Several emails and no reponse. Tried to send recipts certified mail and it was sent back, address unknown. I am a single, disable, veteran woman and I would have expected more from them as they target miltary and veterans. My Samsung 55" TV and computer monitor arrived completely shattered. Ten smaller boxes of my china collection were missing, and the pieces that did arrive were broken. These were high-value items, and I was never compensated because the movers failed to put stickers on the boxes -- which honestly felt negligent at best, and intentional at worst. On top of that, around 15 boxes either never arrived or showed up heavily damaged. I communicated with both Hawaiian Movers and the local company, and neither showed any sympathy or sense of responsibility. Their response was cold and dismissive: just "go talk to the insurance company." This happened about two years ago, and I am only writing this review now because I was recently going through my china collection while preparing for an event, and it brought everything back. It still makes me angry and sad. Please be extremely careful if you use this company. Make sure the movers put stickers on every single item and box. In my case, they did not label many of my items, and that became the reason I could not get compensated. Worst of the worst. Do not use them.

When I first moved in, the original moving company did a little ceiling damage (totally unavoidable) getting my cal king extra deep mattress up the staircase. My landlord wanted to patch it up, but I declined since we'd eventually move out, and would probably add to the damage LOL. That day has come. Mana Movers managed to get the mattress down the stairs without additional ceiling damage. Other heavy items (two antique buffets and a Feathers sectional couch!) were wrapped and handled with care. I don't plan on moving for a while, but when I do, I'm calling Mana Movers.

11/24 update We decided to go with JNR after all after…read moreEugene explained the mix up. He was very accommodating & easy to work with. Made a huge difference in our decision making. The local CA company they used (I believe it was Pioneer) was amazing. They missed 2 tiny drawers but I was able to pack it in my suitcase. I'd highly recommend the CA moving company. Once our household items arrived in HI (it took just under 6 weeks from the time they finished in CA & it was moved into storage in HI) we were contacted to see if we wanted to watch our items being stored. We agreed. Chris was there to meet us (very nice & helpful. Walked us through it) & it seemed to go smoothly. He left half way & the unloaders slowed down. 1 quick phone call & it was back on track. We are pleased with the storage facilities. Secure & temperature controlled. The only hiccup worth mentioning is the 1 of the unloaders was on his phone 98% of the time. Even while pushing the carts he had his phone up to his face. He was young lol. We did have to mention that some of the boxes that said "this side up" meant they needed to store it a certain way. Overall I'd recommend working with Eugene & Chris.
