We moved from San Francisco to Maui and used Royal Hawaiian Moving for a residential move. They picked up the goods to be moved and waited until we called them 2 months later to move the goods to Long Beach where they sat for another 2 months prior to getting to Maui. They claim they "forgot" about the transfer, and apologized and said they would credit us $500 - which they never did. After repeated emails to the company, they simply never responded. Separately when they did deliver, they gave a window of time when the delivery would be made from 9 AM - 1 PM. We called repeatedly to see what was taking so long, and they finally showed up at 5 PM - so we waited all day, kid pickup and everything had to be rearranged - they never called or updated. There are other options - so do not use Royal Hawaiian/DeWitt movers. read more

I wish I could give them negative stars. I moved from Honolulu to San Diego with this company, and the experience was terrible. My Samsung 55" TV and computer monitor arrived completely shattered. Ten smaller boxes of my china collection were missing, and the pieces that did arrive were broken. These were high-value items, and I was never compensated because the movers failed to put stickers on the boxes -- which honestly felt negligent at best, and intentional at worst. On top of that, around 15 boxes either never arrived or showed up heavily damaged. I communicated with both Hawaiian Movers and the local company, and neither showed any sympathy or sense of responsibility. Their response was cold and dismissive: just "go talk to the insurance company." This happened about two years ago, and I am only writing this review now because I was recently going through my china collection while preparing for an event, and it brought everything back. It still makes me angry and sad. Please be extremely careful if you use this company. Make sure the movers put stickers on every single item and box. In my case, they did not label many of my items, and that became the reason I could not get compensated. Worst of the worst. Do not use them. read more

Oh the journey this has been! We moved back to Honolulu in April 2024. Our belongings were packed up nicely and crossed the Pacific Ocean. The 6 crates made it safely to the dock in May 2024 and then our journey really began. We had tenants from hell that didn't want to leave our house. So instead of being able to receive our things, we had to have Royal Hawaiian Movers keep it in their temporary storage. Week after week, we kept in communication with them regarding the formal eviction of the former tenants and fortunately we were able to keep penciling in a delivery date. Well, weeks turned into months of temporary storage and Royal Hawaiian Movers were so understanding to push back the delivery date with every unfortunate update I had. Not only is a formal eviction a long process, but the former tenant left our house totally TRASHED!!! Here we are in August 2024, after a full house restoration, yes...BIOHAZARD was involved...the house is now our home again. Royal Hawaiian Movers arrived as scheduled. The driver checked in with us the day before delivery and the morning of delivery. Three men showed up in uniform and we did a quick walk through to show them the different rooms. They laid down a protective runner from our front door through the living room to the kitchen. My easy task was to check off the item number from the inventory sheets as they unloaded 147 pieces from 6 crates. They were very careful not to drop anything. They were very efficient in the way they took our things off the truck and unwrapped things in our garage. They were very strong and carried everything inside without scratching the walls or floors. We moved from LA back to Honolulu. We've spent tens of thousands of dollars for their services, but it was so worth it. They wrapped our things in LA and while they were here, their Hawaii workers were strong, professional and efficient. They brought our things to every room we wanted and removed packaging for us and disposed of it. The workers listened to what we wanted and were respectful. With the exception of one broken leg of a desk, there wasn't anything else broken. I hate moving and never want to do it again, but I must admit, this company made it easier for us. They moved a 40 ft container full of items into our house within 4 hours. We offered water to the movers, but they declined. However, poor guys had their work truck break down on them when it was time to leave. All they asked us was to take a quick nap in our garage while they waited for a tow. Being a mover is so physically demanding on your body so of course we said yes! They worked quickly and very hard, no way would I say no. They are full service and offered to help us unpack our things and to remove all of the cardboard. Thank you! You made our lives easier and less stressful with moving. read more

One of my bucket list items was to move to the mainland and I was finally able to accomplish this dream many years after I graduated (I always thought that if I were to move, it would've been after high school, for college). One of the most stressful parts of moving, especially for someone who has accumulated furniture that is tough to ship, was figuring how to move these bulky items from Hawaii to Nevada. This is where my research lead me to Royal Hawaiian Movers (one of the few moving companies that I found would ship items between Hawaii and continental US). The back of house operations team was overall easy to work with as getting a quote and scheduling the moving day was easy. It was the payment that was difficult. I was fully prepared to pay the estimated cost and was just waiting for the invoice to make the payment as they will not actually put it on the ship to send until they get payment. I was told to wait 7-10 business days for them to process paperwork and the invoice to be provided, but I waited the estimated time and still nothing. Imagine my reaction to finding out that there was a glitch in the system and they were waiting on my payment to ship my belongings yet I didn't receive the invoice to pay. I had to call to follow up on the invoice and add a few more calls just to finally pay and get confirmation of payment. I paid for the service for them to pack my items into boxes, ship it, and unpack at my new place. The Hawaii packing team was great. I think there was at least 8 guys working together to pack my studio apartment. They were respectful, organized, and efficient. The Nevada company that unpacked my shipment was very different. Not as courteous or efficient as the Hawaii crew, there were 2 guys. They were willing to put together the big furniture, but proceeded to tell me that they could unpack the boxes of the small items, but they would just leave it on the floor and not even put it in the cabinets/closets. I could tell they were trying to get out of there as fast as they could and did not do as good of a job as the Hawaii team. Overall, there were definitely misalignment of expectations for the services to be provided and timing, but wasn't a terrible experience. read more

This review was based on the small inter island move job my company did with this week. WOW! AMAZING SERVICE I have dealt with many moving companies in the past and usually the sales/office staff of course are great and provide good customer service. That tends to change once the work crew actually arrives to do the work. Not in this case! 1) The follow up from this company is amazing! One of our items they took it upon themselves to measure before arriving to our office and informed us it would not fit in the elevator. Luckily we were able to re-route it to another office. 2) The crew that arrived to delivery the file cabinet were SO professional! They were even in nice aloha shirts~ get out!!! Movers??? Gone is my love affair with Royal Hawaiian - where I previously sung their praises from the rafters, I just receive my shipment in Virginia and realized exactly how poorly they performed. When we left Hawaii, Royal Hawaiian had scheduled 4 days to perform our pack and load of ~10,000 pounds of HHG. On the evening of Day 1 they stated they were going to get us packed and loaded the next day (Day 2 of 4). We didn't request this and asked them not to rush - we didn't want our belongings damaged. They assured us it wasn't an issue and would be done very easily. At 5 pm on Day 2 they still had significant work to do and surged an additional 3 people to complete the job - which at 9 pm they finally accomplished. The next day we found several oil spots on our driveway left by their moving truck - although they promised to correct this issue, they never did and left us in a lurch with our landlord. Then our household goods arrived today - where do I begin. How about they packed my Waterpik in the same box with the toilet bowl cleaner and toilet plunger - no paper separating anything, just the thing I clean my teeth with laying with the thing I clean poop with. Boxes were overpacked, light boxes placed on the bottom of the stack and crushed, boxes ripped by the poor crate construction, furniture not wrapped and subsequently scratch beyond repair. Let's not forget - that picture of the hand weights are weights just rolling around in the bottom of the crate - they labeled these as being in a box, but no - just rolling around in the crate. Dishonesty abounds. And now I have to clean up the filth they made on my clean belongings. This is just the first 6 crates - we've got 6 more arriving tomorrow so I'll provide an update on how they performed in round 2 - I'm not holding out any high hopes for improved performance. We specifically requested Royal Hawaiian - they were supposed to be the best on the island but I can not and will not endorse Royal Hawaiian - if you see my name attached to a favorable review it was prior to this debacle. read more

I had to move our packing date because of some scheduling conflict. I went to their office and everyone was so accommodating. It was PCS season and they were fully booked, but they did their best to re schedule our appt. They gave me a new date and scheduled our survey right away. We did zoom survey coz that's the only thing available with my sudden change of dates. We were told that we have 2 days of packing, and on the 3rd day would be when they pick up our stuff. Fast forward to our pack out, our movers did the packing and picking up in less than 2 days. There were only 3 of them, but they were so efficient and fast. Fast forward two months and I've finally got my items from Hawaii. A few days after everything was packed up I got an email from Jennifer Wowor with the invoice for the shipping. The price was a bit more than I anticipated due to not meeting the density requirement. After Jennifer, I was connected with Gloria Brealey in their San Diego office. Gloria was wonderful and I am so lucky to have had her as my coordinator. I must have emailed her a million times to get updates on where my stuff was and she was always so friendly and kind. She did a great job keeping me updated throughout the process and responded typically inside 24 hours for my questions. She helped with the Certificate of Insurance from the moving company for my building. And due to Hurricane Ida my delivery got delayed a week or so. Needless to say, I was happy to finally get a delivery day and wait for the arrival. The local company used was Relocation Express and they did great. Gloria was the contact up until day of arrival and then three gentlemen arrived around 10:30 and finished around 11:30. Upon entry they rolled out a blue carpet so their didn't harm the wood flooring. They handed me the inventory list full of numbers and was instructed to check them off as they bring stuff in the door. I don't know how they were so efficient getting stuff up but one by one the items got marked off. They unwrapped furniture and boxes I was able to empty right away as they included large items. At the end the gentleman went through all the paperwork and had me sign then they packed away their stuff and rolled up the blue carpet and left. We were so nervous moving on island, but we have never been moved into a house faster! From the moment they started, we were like Ohana and everyone was just having a good time and the Quality of service that we receive was a step above the rest! Sam had us laughing the whole time! Hired them to move from our house and into a PODS container for shipping back to mainland. When loading the truck, a drawer fell out of TV stand from 6 feet up, crashed onto street and is damaged badly. In the rush to get the move done I didn't take photos so can't file a claim. They fit everything into the POD but when I went back to load a few things a few days later everything had shifted to the point where I couldn't open container door without help. Once opened, I realized that the ratchet straps I bought for the crew to use were unopened and buried beneath moving blankets, also unopened. And more stuff was broken from shifting and falling. Literally nothing was secure. Took me hours to attempt to get everything strapped down and hopefully secure for transit across the country, but I have low confidence that nothing else is broken or will break. Had a medium sized home improvement project that resulted in a carport's fill of demo'd building material. The contractors were unable to haul away for various reasons. My wife's business had contracted these guys to do some work and said they were pretty good. Why not check 'em out? I called them and a couple of other companies to get estimates before having them come out and feel obligated. One company would never estimate without doing a site visit; one company gave us an okay estimate; Royal Hawaiian came in $7 under the other guys and said they could come out in 3 days. They came; they saw; they conquered. An hour and a half later, the three workers got it all in their truck and had swept the carport clean. (my car could finally come home). They were reasonably priced; came within days and on time; were friendly and worked hard. I'd hire these guys again in an instant. read more

They literally sent a gentleman out to inventory what we are shipping and gave us a quote. We later received a voicemail stating that "they made a mistake" and their $5,600. quote was now going to be $14,something. I emailed them and asked to physically point out the mistake he made. He was unable to point out the mistake and explain the ridiculous increase, so we went went with another company! To each their own, "WE" will not use or recommend this company to anyone! Royal Hawaiian Movers were assigned to do our pack out in Honolulu for a military PCS move to the mainland in July 2024. Our experience was horrible. I never write negative reviews, nor am I someone who goes out of my way to complain about poor service, but it is 100% warranted and necessary in this case. Our pack out was scheduled over 3 days, but the movers were in a rush to get in and out as quickly as possible, usually only working 3-4 hours a day. They told my husband that they get paid for the full 3 days, regardless of how many days/hours they actually spend there. They even offered to finish it all in 2 days, but we told them no since we were in no hurry. So it seems as though they're incentivized to do a crappy job and rush through something that shouldn't be rushed. My kids have a large bunk bed with stairs and drawers, so there are many screws/parts. It was packed up on Monday, but when I went into their room on Tuesday, there were screws ALL over the floor, scattered across the whole room. We had high pile carpet too, so they weren't easy to see. It's bad enough that all of the parts weren't packed with the actual bed, but the kids were in the house with us while they were packing up. What if they stepped on one of the pointy screws that were carelessly left lying around? I ended up going through the entire floor on my hands and knees, picking up the screws and putting them into a ziploc bag, then gave that bag to the lead in charge of the move. I definitely felt at that point that our belongings were not in good hands, but I still held out hope that maybe this was an isolated incident. Once the movers left, however, I was walking through the house and found parts for an exercise machine that they left behind, even though they packed the actual machine, I found single shoes whose mates had been packed, I found more screws/parts to random things and I had no idea what they were for. I also found that both of our upstairs bathrooms were not packed AT ALL. I ended up getting a plastic tote and packing up what I could so all of our things wouldn't be left behind. We received our HHG shipment this past Thursday and, as the local movers tried to assemble our beds, they could not find the parts for them. Our guest bed had no screws with it whatsoever, and my bed had only half of its legs, and missing screws. The only thing that actually had all its parts and got assembled was (surprise, surprise) the bunk bed. I am thanking my lucky stars that I found all those screws on the floor of my kids' room, or we would be buying new bed frames for the entire house. Oddly enough, our kitchen table actually had the screws wrapped and labeled, but instead of being with the table, they were found later that night in a box of my kids' clothes from their bedroom. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. So far, only one of our 5 tv's had its power cord and stand in the box with it. We're still looking around through the last handful of boxes we have left, but so far we haven't found the parts to actually set up the other tv's. Our iMac power cord was in a random box, not packaged with the iMac itself. Our dryer is dented in all around the top control panel. My bedroom dresser has chunks of wood chipped off of the corners and sides, and my kids' bunk bed also has a section with a chunk of wood missing. They didn't unpack dresser drawers. In fact, they shoved other small items into the drawers so tightly, that I could barely get the drawers open. They threw two bottles of half-empty 100% acetone nail polish remover into a box with leather shoes and purses - bottles were loose, unwrapped, and untaped, and the purses and shoes were thrown loose into the box as well, essentially crushing them. Luckily the bottles didn't leak or everything in the box would've been ruined. We have been doing PCS moves for over 20 years. Never have we had movers who didn't pack parts with the items they came from, nor have they done such a piss-poor job of packing in general. I am not exaggerating when I say we've found loose screws/bolts thrown onto the bottom of boxes, unrelated to anything that was actually packed in said box. This move has been has been a nightmare, logistically and financially. RHM did nothing but add to our stress and cost us money, as we now have to replace broken/missing items due to their utter lack of care or concern with our belongings. We will be filing a claim. Please, if you have an actual choice in the matter (we didn't), DO NOT hire RHM. The only thing that makes me feel better about this entire debacle is that we didn't actually pay these guys out of our own pocket to mishandle and ruin our things. read more

Covid be damned, these guys made it early to the said appointment... to the point I wasn't fully ready for it. Wanted to use this company for my storage pack up as I am getting ready to move to Korea for a year. They were pretty awesome overall. Very communicative about all the items that were being packed and they made sure to take very good care of as many things as possible.only snag was my antique table, passed down from my family, but they indicated they were going to mark it down so it could be covered when I pull it out of storage. For a 5.5k weight estimate pack and pick up, they managed to start at 0830 and finish by 3:30pm. Started with 3 workers, had 2 more join in the middle and the initial 3 finished it off. Crew was untidy, leaving garbage behind every day including empty tape rolls, leftover food and food wrapping. We had to go around the house every evening to sweep the floors and collect garbage Crew did not seem to have appropriate tools and used our own tools e.g. hammer Crew left various nails, screws and other sharp metal object in my driveway every day in spite of repeated reminders to be more careful The inventory sheets as well as descriptions on boxes were illegible We had a number of large framed limited edition pictures and paid the moving company to make crates for them. Each crate was made to measure for specific pictures, numbered and a list provided to the crew as to which picture went into what crate. The crew ignored the list and randomly assigned pictures to crates. They also packed the crates with other random objects such as baseball bats and clothing racks. Two crates were received broken as they were too small for the content put in them We were charged $2,743.75 for a shuttle service at origin. This was based on the moving company's claim that a container could not be brought onto our street and a smaller truck was required. There were no issues at origin with a large truck accessing our street and a shuttle service was not needed when we moved in. We later realized that the shuttle service was to accommodate the movers' business model to work multiple jobs at once. The shuttle would drop off one person at our house and the other two would drive off to work other jobs. They would come back several hours later with our shuttle loaded with other people's furniture. This also prolonged the chaotic moving process by at least a day since they were only working part time on our move. We have documented the above with pictures. The movers have acknowledged some shortcomings: "Please let me apologize again for the disarray left at your home on the pack and load date. It is unacceptable, and the issues you have raised below are being addressed". They later offered a goodwill gesture of $300 which only covers the cost of the two destroyed crates but does nothing in terms of the poor service and unnecessary shuttle cost at origin. The shuttle price at origin is one of the highest in the nation, was purely to accommodate the movers multi-tasking business model and, to add insult to injury, was a shared shuttle with at least two other customers. read more

I had three movers show to my house. They did a great job bringing the boxes in without tracking dirt in the house. They asked me where each box went and called out the number to me so I could check it off the list. They helped unpack several of the awkward large boxes and moved the room contents around to fit my bed in. Two of them were a bit shy, but friendly. The third I talked with on and off. They did not damage the house or any of my stuff in any way during the move-in. They were very careful with the boxes and didn't handle them too roughly. I hadn't experienced this level of care since I moved to/from Japan and was pleasantly surprised. And no time was I worried someone might steal any of my stuff, which I've worried about with other moving companies on the mainland and having to watch them like a hawk. In short my particular move-in crew was: professional, courteous, efficient, and a lot more disciplined than the movers who packed up my stuff to come here from the mainland. A+ service! read more

This was a fantastic experience. Suzanne made the process very painless and assured me that the process would be simple. Suzanne even reviewed all their self loading options that they had to make sure I wasn't overpaying for too much space. I requested the lift Van crate for my move which was perfect for the amount of items I had. The process for this is you pull up right to the front of their facility and check in, and then they pulled up wooden crate with a forklift right to my truck for me to start filling up. They even took the crate back into the warehouse when I had to leave to fill the truck up again. I moved here from California close to 2.5 years ago. I paid Royal Hawaiian and DeWitt from California to move my items. The California movers did a great job and I saw them pack and hammer close the wooden crates that held my items. Unfortunately, when Royal Hawaiian delivered my things in Hawaii they just brought the boxes into my home and split. They were young guys and said they had to move a military family and left. They were supposed to unpack as well. I paid a fee for that service. I was also missing at least 2 boxes with some very nice kitchen items, pots, pans, cutting boards, etc... those items were stolen. So I do not give a good recommendation for Royal Hawaiian. They never even called me back when I asked if they found my other boxes. California movers great, Royal Hawaiian crummy. Horrible, horrible, horrible. One more time for those in the back, these movers are absolutely HORRIBLE! If you care anything about your stuff do not choose this company. I don't even know where to start. First, I have NEVER written a review before but our movers were so bad I just had to speak up about this experience. A scheduled 3 day pack out was completed in 2 days due to the workers rushing through things with zero regard for our possessions. We were worried that damage was inevitable and as predicted much of it was. I'm talking damage from stuff that could have been easily avoided such as taking out shelf brackets and shelves in a hall tree that instead were left, resulting in deep unrepairable scratches to the base. Not to mention that the shoes in said hall tree were left to flop around during its transition and the bench cushion was crushed and ruined as well. This is just one piece of furniture out of so many other things like the bottom of a tv stand being crushed, a chaise that now no longer reclines, the back of another hall tree that was smashed in, a breakfast table that has scratches all over it... the list goes on and on. One thing that particularly set me over the edge was my decorative plants that were destroyed because someone thought that folding them in half made sense. Bending these plants took some force! Additionally, dresser drawers were left with the clothing in them, packing paper was shoved in end tables as an attempt to keep the items in place rather than packing the stuff separately, sooo much packing paper was used to pack small items like one plastic spatula, oh and... wait for it.... multiple kitchen drawers and bathroom cabinets were left unpacked (our fault for not double checking. Lesson learned). To top it off the movers were not friendly, needed to be asked multiple times to pack items that they were seemingly going to leave behind, left their trash, and acted as if we were an inconvenience for them doing a job that they are paid to do. Sigh. I am just in disbelief at the total disregard for my stuff. Do not go with this company! read more

It took me to have to contact CEO Michael DeWitt to resolve our issues. Mr. DeWitt sincerely apologized for our move not being handled in the best way it should have been. He apologized for our items going missing & damaged. A resolution was made to both parties agreement. This was the 1st time through our whole ordeal that we were made to feel like our concerns truly mattered. Mahalo Mr. DeWitt. It is genuinely appreciated. read more

Horrible!!! This company should be put out of business for unethical practices. They over pack your items to charge for the tonnage, so when you receive your items at the designated location, items will be damaged. You call to put in the claims and they give you the run around to not pay for damages. Consumers please be aware of the moving scam and look at moving pods as an alternative. We purchased an outdoor lounge and dining set from a large mainland furniture company (West Elm) and it appears that Royal Hawaiian Movers is contracted with the company to deliver the furniture from the port to the final destination on Oahu. The first half of our order was delivered in original packaging. West Elm's policy is white glove service, which promises the movers to set all furniture in place and take away all the packaging/trash that came with it. Royal Hawaiian Movers only dropped off the boxes. After speaking to a West Elm rep, they were supposed to provide white glove service and had to apologize on their behalf Most pieces from the second half of our order is supposedly on-island per our tracking info from West Elm. After trying to call Royal Hawaiian Movers to get a status on them, they transfer me to an employee that happens to never pick up their calls. I leave voicemails, get no calls back. The lack of service I received so far makes me believe that something weird is going on with the company. I don't like to leave bad reviews, but unfortunately its gotten to this point to see action. Next time I plan to hire a freight forwarder for future large purchases on the mainland. read more

There service is very poor and they do not have respect for people's personal belongings. Many things were damaged, priceless collectibles were damaged and irreplaceable, a priceless ukulele was missing from shipment and the service was very unsatisfactory. read more

Once they showed up, Schain, Justen, and Payton were very professional and unpacked everything quickly. They were done in about a half day with our small apartment, and left everything neat and tidy. Contemplating a potential relocation from Oakland to Honolulu. One of the many things to consider before making a decision would be moving. Pricing, timeliness, logistics, etc. I sent in an email query and received an immediate written response indicating I should receive a call. Jerry rang me up a few days later. Super courteous, Jerry explained the service offered. He quoted general rates based on weight per pound. The cost includes supplying packing materials, packing and wrapping all items, inventory of goods, proper loading of household items, overland trucking, port services, terminal charges and fuel surcharges. The service also includes delivery services in Honolulu, which are unpack, unwrap and same day debris removal. He also gave me a quote on shipping my truck. He offered a site survey of my stuff or to send me a video app to give me a guess about how much the items would weigh. I'm not leaving just yet! There's a lot of variables to consider relocating to Honolulu, but understanding the moving all of my stuff is very helpful to factor into a decision. read more

My fridge came dented in molded, my imac is missing and several items are gone or broken. My fridge was 4000 My imac over 1500 My imac was placed in a box unlabel on inventory and was told to use so no one would take it. I'm pressing charges and l need my imac or replacement also l need my fridge fixed or replace. This is unacceptable. I even tipped my packer 100 dollars. 0 stars this is disgusting and unkind.
