My wife's favorite is chocolate balsamic, which she loves to pour over a bowl of yogurt and fruit. She has this most mornings. As Christmas arrived, our daughter realized Mom / my wife was running low on chocolate and she wanted to go to Di'Olivas to get some as a gift. We picked up a bottle of Strawberry Field, which is another favorite. Other flavors we like include pineapple, coconut (I'm not a bit coconut fan, but I LOVE this on salads... awesome!), cherry and raspberry - especially when mixed with olive oil and salt and parmesan for dipping! We met the owner and his wife at BaconFest 2018, in Washington, MO, where they had an amazing bacon flavored rub that was a crowd favorite. On that Christmas shopping trip we met the owner again, and after getting the balsamics, he shared two things with us - 1) their new cooking sauces, and 2) an amazing bacon sauce. The cooking sauces... "Still and Stove" We tried Pineapple and Habanero hot sauce with tequila. It does have a kick, but when you cook it with chicken or pork it tones down a bit. Our daughter does not like spicy but she loves this one. They make these flavors themselves, and they are excellent! When we walked in we were immediately greeted and given a tour of the store with instructions on how to sample the products and were left to explore as well as offered samples of other products. I cannot remember the First Lady's name but Hailey took over at one point and was sooo incredibly warm and bubbly. She recommended several incredible vinegar combos and how to use some of the oils we were exploring. She also let us sample a blueberry bourbon, chutney - which was fantastic. The fresh bold garlic oil was absolutely fantastic and has already proven to be a must have in our home kitchen. 10/10 highly recommend to stop in and just explore the products. read more

I actually am a fan of their olive oil's. And the lovely lady that helped me out was great, but the lady who was working with another customer with different colored hair dye upon my entering with my service dog yelled across the store that I could not bring my dog in. I politely explained that he's my service dog. Then she proceeded to ask across the store what service he provided for me. Which by all means she is allowed to ask. But this is a very personal and private detail about my life. I did not appreciate that she was hollering across the store for everyone to hear and then expected me to respond. I did respond quite meekly. And thankfully, the other employee was able to help me out with a very friendly manner. But the other woman seemed very upset that I had an actual service dog, and was very bothered by the fact that we were in her store. I will be going to the other store that sells olive oil on Beale Street from now on. And I understand that many people try to bring their dogs in that are unruly and untrained. But once you find out, someone has a service dog, please treat them with respect and honor, because they have worked really hard to train their dogs so that they can be a support to them when they go out in public. read more

It doesn't look like much when you walk past, but inside lays a huge variety of unique oils and vinegar. Di Olivas also lets customers taste every oil in their store. The vinegars are always unique and flavorful. They also offer many jams and other dips. I definitely recommend. read more

We didn't get to try any of the products because when we went to try one of the oils, a lady started yelling at us because we poured the oil from the Cannister and not some bottle on a counter (there was no signage) and then she then turned to customers she was helping and started criticizing us for not paying attention to directions. We promptly turned on our heels and walked out. What a terrible way to treat customers and a first impression to give. It was our first shop to stop into in St Charles and thankfully wasn't our experience with other vendors afterwards. I would not recommend patronizing this establishment. read more

I heard that Di Olivas was opening a second store in my neck of the woods - St. Charles. I was really excited to stop by because I'd never had a chance to check out their store in West County Mall. The new store has room to move around in and is decorated very nicely. The oils and vinegars are all displayed in an aesthetically pleasing manner. I had an awesome first experience! Robert, the owner, and Valerie, one of the shop assistants, were so helpful, accommodating and nice. Since I was a "virgin" (oh, puns are so funny), they helped answer all of my questions (for example, what is the difference between white balsamic vinegar and darker colored balsamic vinegar?). Valerie walked me through the tasting process and offered a ton of pairings, food suggestions, uses, etc. This was much appreciate because there are so many different types of oils and vinegars here, it's a little daunting at first! I found some great combinations (especially for salad dressings) and ended up buying 2 bottles of vinegar (cranberry-pear balsamic and strawberry balsamic ) and 2 bottles of EVOO (blood orange and sweet basil). The cranberry-pear balsamic and blood orange EVOO taste so awesome together! After leaving the store, I promptly hit up the grocery store for some salad fixins and other goodies to use with my new purchases. While oils and vinegars are their main products, they also offer an array of pastas, tapenades, salts and hair/skin products. I will most definitely be back to Di Olivas! read more

It't not often that I find myself spending over $30 on Olive Oil and Vinegar, but it's okay to do every now and then, right? I arrived on a Friday afternoon while browsing Main Street and decided to sample a few of the oil and vinegar combinations. I was greeted by the worker and I think the manager as well. They were clearly both bored so they were talking to me about the samples and ways to mix them together for a good flavor. It was okay, I wasn't too annoyed. I browsed around and found a garlic oil which had just enough garlic. I will be adding this to french fries and I'll create a marinade for chicken by mixing it with honey. I also found a cranberry walnut vinegar and had to purchase it as well. I asked for the 2 bottles and then I used my 10% Yelp Check-In and checked out pretty quickly. The only problem with checking out was that the worker was new (she told me it was her first week) and so she had a little difficulty with ringing in the items and using the discount, but it's okay, she needs to learn. She did a good job with the up-sell and convinced me to purchase 2 spouts as well for pouring. She also told me that I could go back with the empty (clean) bottle and they could refill it for a reduced cost! Good to know. I won't be going back very often since oil and vinegar can be expensive for my budget, but I could see myself going back around the holidays since I bet these would be good gifts for friends and family. read more

Will not buy from these guys again. We have been 3 times, making special trips to get their oil & vinegar. This time, we spent over $240 and made our trek back to Des Moines, Iowa. Two out of the eight bottles were not sealed properly. Of course, the largest 750 ml size was one victim. It completely poured out. One smaller bottle lost about 1/4 of its contents. Thank goodness the bag they were in did not leak. We have suede and leather seats in our car. When we called to report this, the owner Richard, was not attentive or apologetic. He seemed distracted and uninterested. He did agree to replace the one bottle, but did not offer anything for the loss of the 1/4 bottle, or any other incentive to buy from them again. Tastings are in abundance here, which is appropriate, 'cause who knows what blood orange olive oil tastes like? All olive oils and vinegars are marked with their "harvested on" and "best used by" dates. Each oil or vinegar comes in two -- sometimes three -- sizes. The stars here are the vinegars and the olive oils. There's lots more, though. Jars: olives stuffed with -- feta, garlic, bleu cheese. Salts: flavor-infused sea salt -- so many. Ceramic dishes for all your culinary expeditions. There are little cups and tasting vessels right by every vat of oil or vinegar for self-serve tasting. When you've decided what you want to purchase, the proprietor will draw your vinegar or oil from the vat. I go with Laura K's suggestion of going for the extra $1.99 for the easy-pour, air-sealed and reusable top. As to the stars: olive oil -- I tasted lemon, blood orange, garlic, Tuscan herb and basil. Then the palette went flacid. On to to vinegars: I tasted traditional balsamic, black currant, cherry, basil and rosemary. The sweet ones were too sweet for me. I favor the savory. There are so many others!! I ended up with: traditional style balsamic vinegar (which I can imagine with vine-ripened toatoes and buffalo mozz), California garlic extra-virgin olive oil and Tuscan herb extra-virgin olive oil.I can see these last two as go-to oilve oils for searing chops, chicken and steaks! For these three -- all in the smallest container available -- I spent nearly $50. read more

The shop was nice. It's the first shop of its kind (olive oils and balsamic vinegars) that I've ever been to. The prices seemed reasonable and the single employee who came to assist me was very polite and helpful. My problem was the owner, who was quite rude to me, and gave me a lecture on the uselessness of my college degree. I wasn't prepared for such a lecture from the owner of an olive oil boutique, so I mostly just stood there and listened to him talk. I told him I'd be back, but I doubt that I will return. There are other business owners on Main Street who I know to be helpful and more tactful, and I would rather give *them* my business. read more

Di Olivas is really a neat place. I like the idea that they sell lots of different extra virgin olive oils and balsamic vinegars. I walk by this store almost on a weekly basis and have been wanting to stop by and check them out. Lucky for me I didn't have my dogs with me so I got to go in and see for myself what they have to offer. We were greeted by a women who gave us the run down of the shop and how things work. We tasted three or four olive oils and they were all really great. We opted for the chipotle olive oil. As for the balsamic vinegar we tasted five or six. I had to stop because it was getting harder and harder to make a decision because they were all so good! We chose the ginger blackberry. A close second and third were the red currant and cherry flavors. I sauteed some onion and mushroom the the vinegar and it turned out so good! There are a three sizes to choose from and it is pretty expensive, but you get more for you money the bigger you go in size. I opted for the smaller sizes. The bottles are filled by an associate and held at the counter for your shopping convenience. There were two ladies working and both were helpful. One lady was happy to give opinions on which flavors she liked best and how she liked to use them. I liked that a lot. Also offered are flavor infused salts! I love salt and had to walk away because it was about to get expensive. We tasted the ghost pepper salt and it was spicy! Only a grain or two and you got the flavor! The truffle infused salt was my favorite. Bacon infused was pretty tasty as well! The salt prices ranged from about $6 to $20 or so. The fancier the infusion the more it costs, makes sense. There were pastas, ceramic dishes and olive oil accessories available for purchase. You can opt for a pour spout for your oil and vinegar bottles for an addition $1.99 per bottle. This is a very open relaxed space. What I love is that you can taste the various olive oils and balsamic vinegars. It's nice to know what you are buying. They have a nice variety of flavors, that are sure to make everyone happy. They had a new Margarita balsamic vinegar, made with white balsamic vinegars that I had to try. It tastes like a margarita with a slight taste of vinegar. They are very helpful and willing to explain their products. I ended up getting the margarita balsamic vinegar, herbed olive oil and a dipping spice mix that was suggested to put in the oil for extra seasoning when dipping with bread. I will definitely be back. It is more expensive then what you pay at the grocery store, but it is so worth it! read more

The store is nicely laid out, and it has some novel items on the shelves. The owner, however, is a bit much. When I asked about Sicilian olive oil he gave a 15 minute lecture on how I clearly knew nothing of the olive oil industry and most Italian oils are blends etc etc. What I was looking for was an oil comparable to oils from artisan producers from Spain or California or Sicily, but it became clear that Di Olivas is not that kind of store. I got pushed into trying a few of the unflavored olive oils (maybe all of them- there were only 6 or 7) and ended up buying 2 of them. I gave them a good trial, tried them on everything but the kitchen sink, and in the end was disappointed. They were mediocre- not really better than some of the oils available at the grocery store. We have gone to Di Olivas store at West County mall, and we were actually headed there when we punched Di Olivas into our GPS and found it on Main St in St. Charles (where we already were) and we were ecstatic! My boyfriend and I own a business and we use the black cherry balsamic vinegar. This shop is very modern, clean, and inviting. We sampled several vinegars & made some purchases for our business. Perhaps the one I am most excited about is the Vermont Maple Balsamic! I can't wait to experiment with it! We have also bought olive oils from Di Olivas, including the garlic which I LOVE! The price is definitely fair, considering a little of this great tasting stuff goes a long way! We live in CO, so we don't get to visit this store too often, but we're always excited to come in and see what's new! This time they had new salts, pastas, dip mixes, etc, which I had not yet seen at their store before. This place is definitely a must see! read more

It's too bad we had such a HORRIBLE experience at a place we found interesting and wanted to return to! My friend and I came in and were greeted by a friendly young woman who explained the premise and welcomed us to taste. We tasted around 5 olive oils or balsamic vinegars and discussed how great we thought the store was and how we could wait to return to St. Charles (our home town) to buy gifts at the store. As we were walking out a middle aged gentlema--, well, not gentleman, stopped us to ask what our favorite was and we replied. We had small talk and then he asked "What is keeping you from walking out with something today?" We were surprised by this question since we weren't standing on a used car lot and told him we were just wandering around downtown. He said something along the lines of "I don't see why that means you don't want to take something with you today." We probably looked like deer in the headlights, it was SO AWKWARD! We said "thanks" and exited and were still upset about this experience hours later, and here I am today still weirded out by it! read more
