We were in town with my wife's Aunt and Uncle, Monte and Catherine. Her Aunt and my mother attended that old school so that was interesting. The food was great and our server was fantastic. This was my first time at Di Trapani's and it will not be my last. I booked a reservation with them on Valentine's Day and despite it being very busy the service was wonderful. The restaurant has an old time charm and it never gets too loud. Our waitress was exceptional and made sure we had a wonderful dinner. The toasted ravioli were crisp and flavorful. I enjoyed the dressing on the house salad and it was a wonderful precursor to the hearty pasta. The shrimp pasta I had was delicious, and I loved the lemon garlic sauce it was tossed in. So the ambience is very romantic the paper white tablecloth, of course are fun with crayon. We ordered the prime rib, which was delicious yet it was medium instead of medium rare of what we ordered, but it was still delicious. We also had their salads which were fresh and he had their house dressing. Very good. We had it with Alfredo pasta it was good at different flavor than I'm what I'm used to, but still liked it and then the Italian sub was delicious. Ok. 3 stars is not my typical review. And in this case I feel that is generous! The food wasn't stellar and the service was just abysmal... So my wife and I rarely have a date night on a Friday because of my hours. Because my boss gifted us all with an early-out of my choosing I used it to take my amazing wife out on a well deserved date before a slew of complicated medical procedures start in the next week. We were so excited. The menu looked delicious and the building itself is sooo cool. An old school house. Well our excitement quickly turned to frustration. We were sat with water and menus and waited about 10 min before a server came by. We eagerly ordered a bottle of wine and two appetizers. And we waited and waited and waited for the wine. Typically wine comes right away. Well she brought appetizers out then went back for our wine. Odd, but at least we had wine! The appetizers were so/so. The stuffed portobello was the smallest I had ever seen and the shrimp cake had an off putting mushy texture. It wasn't my favorite. The flash fried spinach was good, just over salted. Our salads came out quickly but could tell two salads were made and tossed together as my wife had all the lettuce and I had all the provel cheese. Lol. The dressing was great just not a good balance of salad. Our entrees came out and my wife had the seafood lasagna which she LOVED and is the reason for the 3 stars! I didn't try a bite due to a crab allergy but it looked delicious. I had the special that was said to have a Gorgonzola and spinach sauce with mushrooms, shrimp, and topped with walnuts. It was good but when I here Gorgonzola I want to be smacked in the face with it. I still brought it home and will be eating it for dinner day 2! After we each finished about half our entrees we decided on the desserts we wanted to take home with us. During our meal we never saw our server again. Two busters stopped by to fill water and one very bright young person did ask about our meal. We sat. And sat. And sat. Finally asked for a box when the bright young busser came by. We told her what we wanted to order Togo and that we hadn't seen our server in about 45 min. My wife got up to use the restroom, and took time taking pictures. Was gone about 10 min, and still no server. Finally she comes with the dessert and our check. Here is where it should go to 1/2 stars. I mentioned we were not happy with the service and that she had not been by our table for 45 minutes and she said "I promise I've been working!" Ugh no empathy for her customers that just spent $130 on a mediocre meal. Also the desserts were just ok. Not good. Not awful. But nothing to be ordered again read more

This place is hidden, we thought we had the wrong directions. It's a small space, it a took a while for someone to take our order and we didn't even get the complimentary bread but everything we ordered was delicious. We got three appetizers -- spinach & artichoke dip, toasted ravioli and caprese flatbread. The dip was very cheesy, almost Alfredo tasting and very good. The toasted ravioli was so flavorful and the flatbread was amazing. The balsamic they use was thicker and sweeter than any we've ever had. We also ordered the chicken Alfredo to go and that domes with a side salad. The house dressing was too sweet for my taste but my son liked it. A warm and fun environment inside this wonderful restaurant. We showed up without reservations on a Friday night before Easter. It was a little slow getting seated (we're guessing that some of their staff were away for the holidays) but the staff there were working very hard to get everyone seated. The food was delicious and we enjoyed our meal immensely. The wait staff was prompt and attentive. After our meal, the owner or chef came out to check on us. Very nice touch. Food is just okay, nothing really to talk about. We had toasted ravioli which the menu said was toasted ravioli from "The Hill" in Saint Louis, however, tasted just like frozen t-ravs. They weren't very crispy either. Our house salads were good (house dressing is pretty good, touch of sweetness to it). For our meals, I had their cajun salmon linguini which was just alright. My salmon was over cooked and extremely dry. The linguini was also pretty dry, very little Alfredo sauce on the pasta. My boyfriend had their veal oscar, his veal was way over cooked and tough which was disappointing. His baked potato was overloaded with salt. Overall, not the greatest dinner experience. We were hoping for the food to be better considering most of the reviews are almost 5 stars. Aside from our dinner, they were out of almost every single wine on their menu. We had to go through about 3-4 different wines before we were able to choose something that they actually had available. No where did it mention on their menu (nor did the staff mention) that they were out of almost every wine. At the end of our dinner, we were told their credit card machine wasn't working "due to the storms" that occurred recently which also made no sense. Not only were we told this but every table around us also. Initially, we were asked whether we had a different form of payment (cash) which neither of us usually carry on us and then we were asked whether we wanted to leave our credit card information with them so that they could process this once their system was working (absolutely insane if you ask me - would never leave our credit card information with anyone). After everyone told them they didn't have cash, they were able to get it to go through (shockingly enough). All in all, such an odd experience. No desire to go back which is a bummer because we were hoping to have found a good Italian restaurant in the area. This was mediocre Italian food. read more

I drive from St. Louis just to eat here, the food is that good. The salad is the best I have had and the dishes we have had are delicious! My girlfriend and I have taken turns getting the BBQ Shrimp Risotto which is an Italian dish with Cajun influence. So good. You can really tell that a lot of effort is put into each item. First time at this place and will be the last , sad because its such a great building and atmosphere but after being seated we waited 20 minutes for our waitress , her name is Tracy. We ordered a bottle of chiant and appetizers, 20 minutes later no wine, she brings our appetuzers , finally 40 minutes into our dinner we get our first glass of wine, the appetizers were underwhelming, the smallest portobello mushroom ive ever seen. Flash fried spinach was so salty it was barely edible, she brings our dinner salads, and they put provell cheese on It, mine was a good portion but Emilys was just cheese and a tomato, finally 2 hours later we get our entre mine was very good seafood lasagne, but the special that Emily got was also underwhelming, if youre going to have a gorganzola creme sauce at least be able to taste it, we then never saw Tracy again we had to order our dessert to go from the bus girl. Terrific Venue. Terrific service. Terrific music. Clean, nice, fun atmosphere. The proprietor, who wears a chefs outfit even though there is no way he is a formally trained chef, truly cares about his customers and regularly follows up in the dining room to make sure everything's going great. That's why it gets two stars instead of one. The food is bordering on inedible. The cheapest ingredients followed by terrible recipes. Canned mushrooms on the pizza, terrible cheese, tasteless sauce, Pasta sauce with way too much butter, cheap dinner rolls, etc. etc. I can't think of any single positive thing to say about the food in any way. If you can't taste, it might make for a great evening. Too bad, this could be a really great place for Rolla. Maybe hire a restaurant consultant? read more

Our first visit here was stellar in both service and food. So we thought we would come back for a second. It's funny how you can have the same server both times but receive less than normal service. The food was great except for the dessert. The creme brulee was excellent the first visit but this time. The top was hard as a rock and about 1/4 " thick with the sugar still underneath. Made the server aware of it. She said I just need to break through and it will be all right. I've eaten creme brulee across the country and have never had it with such a hard coating that you needed to break through with a chisel. So the chef comes out and asks how the creme brulee was so I told him and showed him the thickness. I am happy he offered to replace it. One happy camper here. Happy ending. read more

Wow I don't know where to begin. I ordered a salad and chicken salad sandwich. This cost 18$. Ok I'll pay 18$ for a good quality sandwich. Nope. My salad was flat and room temperature. My sandwich had an onion bun the top was hard and the bottom soggy. I had some iceberg lettuce and a small slice of tomato as well. The chicken salad was bland and looked like just plain canned chicken. No nuts, cranberries etc... things you expect in a 15$ sandwich. This was my first and last time at this restaurant. Small so you have to call ahead to make sure you get in. The atmosphere was wonderful. You are not rushed and encouraged to linger over coffee and dessert. We had 6:30 reservations for my granddaughters graduation they seat us at 6:30 and didn't hear from any one for about a hour got appetizers and no napkins or silverware finally got our salads and still no silverware at that point they told us they didn't have silverware don't know how they expected us to eat salads with no silverware but they did my daughter finally asked did they st least have plastic silverware so they brought us plastic plastic silverware then at 8:45 they came and told us that two of our party had to pick a new meal they were out of salmon they hadn't even started our meals after 3 hours no manager to even talk to and didn't even care about poor service read more

The Atmosphere is nice and I was pleased when we were initially seated in a big high walled booth that gave plenty of privacy. I was visiting my son who is going to be shipped out the middle east and wanted an intimate dinner where we could connect. The stewardess was actually the one to suggest the booth and everything was fine until we asked for a high chair for the toddler. We were then asked to leave the booth and go to a table, the table was as small as a postage stamp and crammed into a corner next to another party. When the food was delivered my dish was inedible. The final bill was ridiculously expensive. I will not return and cannot recommend this establishment. read more

A gem in the middle of Missouri. My first visit was with a large group of women and despite the large group they managed the drink orders/dinner very well. I visited a second time with just my husband and I for a date night and were in a bit of a hurry. Our waitress was quick and attentive, our food was very good even with going 30 minutes before closing, and the ambiance is very relaxing. We will definitely return. PS. What an amazing find!!! After a long day of driving my mom wanted pasta. This was the first place that popped up. All I can say is WOW!!! From the house dressing on the salad to the amazing cannelloni to the house special of blackened mahi mahi with mango salsa everything was perfect! I asked for spinach instead of the rice with mahi and it was too good for words. The chef even came out to inquire as to our meal and how the spinach alternative worked out. Went there to celebrate my wedding anniversary, only to be look at all weird from this waitress, asking us what we were doing there, I mean isn't that suppose to be a restaurant. She actually asked us if we were there to meet someone, without even asking if we needed a table first. She then proceeded to say that they were all booked. A complete waste of time going there, first time and probably will be the last. I mean it is not like this is a popular area.I recommend you call first an actually make sure if they have available tables, and also so you won't be greeted so weirdly, oh wait she didn't even say hi to us when we got there, as in she was in shock. Place is tough to find and parking lot is very dark. Interior is clean and comfortable. Beautifully decorated and welcoming. Service was very slow. After being seated we waited 15-20 minutes before a server showed up. We both ordered seafood. I had the lasagna and it was freshly made but didn't seem to have much seafood for the price. So like a good wife I stole shrimp off my husbands plate. He enjoyed his. Not ready to give up yet and will probably try again. read more

Attended a small wedding and Wow, what a great surprise. To begin with the waitstaff was great. The ambiance was really nice and best of all the food was amazing. I particularly enjoyed the delicious lasagna while my wife loved the specially prepared chicken. One other thing that stood out was the dressing on the salad.
