i can't complain because I attended a charity event for Make-A-Wish Foundation and Diamond Boutique gave all guests a certificate for a free pearl necklace. I redeemed my necklace today and loved everything the store had to offer! I didn't purchase anything additionally but I saw a ton of really beautiful pieces of jewelry and will be back in the future if I am in the market for some stuff to add to my collection. Parking in this plaza really sucks but apparently there's a garage in the back- which we have not found yet. This is right next door to Burger Lounge and Chipotle. We had a great experience at Diamond Boutique. Nine years ago, my husband bought my engagement ring there. I had found a design I liked, but the setting was smaller than I wanted. Mali offered to custom make another ring like the one I liked, but larger. The custom designed engagement ring was stunning. Then she offered to custom make my wedding ring; this ring was a perfect horseshoe shape to go under the engagement ring. Mali told us she would keep the design plan and when we were ready she would make the top horseshoe ring. So nine years later, we went back to purchase the top ring. True to form, Mali made it with the design plan she kept and only charged $200 more for it than the price for the first ring. I wish I had tons of money. I would buy out that store. read more

After THREE years, I finally found someone to reset my engagement ring a way I would like it!!! I had received beautiful princess cut solitaire and kept it that way, but found myself constantly scratching my husband with it. They told me it would be $40 to repair due to having to replace the link and it being gold. I was so excited to get these earrings back that I didn't notice until months later that one of the earrings was shorter then the other. They did not bother to replace the missing broken link! They just fixed the bottom of the chain to the other part without the link. I'd use extreme caution with this place. I came to Diamond Boutique in search of an engagement ring after the store was recommended to me, and I am incredibly happy I did! I first met the owner of the store, who was incredibly warm, inviting, and excited for me. I began working with Newsha, who was a wealth of knowledge and advice. I really was not sure what my girlfriend wanted in terms of a ring, but Newsha walked me through the whole array of options. She thoroughly explained the different styles, materials, and settings, and asked me questions to learn more about what might appeal to my girlfriend. And, she happily yielded the many many questions that I had! We ultimately decided to do a custom ring, as I liked features from multiple rings they had in stock. Mali, I know you're being defensive because it's your operation. However, I've dealt with Ali on this purchase. Your dates are incorrect we purchased the ring in 2008 and we got married in 2008 which we modified the diamond. We had some extra stuff added to it and picked out the diamond out of 5 diamonds and I looked at the certificate which was from EGL Israel. Ali really sold me on this Grading Company even though I'm used to GIA diamond grading. Out of the 5 loose diamonds that it only showed me two of them stood out really well and after about 25 seconds I was able to find the shiniest one and Ali agreed with my selection. This diamond was over one and a half carats very high quality and the certificate was shown to me. We came back in a couple days and picked up the diamond without comparing to the certificate. Why would I need to do that it's about trust right? I know as the diamond was not Shining well and I asked Ali "how come it's not so shiny" and he said it's because it's set and it's not loose so it won't Sparkle as much so I thought yeah that makes sense. A few months later we decided to upgrade that ring but we really heard good stuff from Unicorn Jewelers. So we went there and met the owner and we wanted to get a band on it. Before Unicorn jewelers took the ring, The master gemologist measured the diamonds and looked at the certificate and said you need to come here. I walked over there with my wife and he said this is not the diamond that matched the certificate. My jaw dropped and I didn't know what to do. I said are you sure? And he said absolutely. This is right before we got married so unfortunately we're stuck between a rock and a hard place with a fake diamond so in a nutshell we had to get police report and I made a claim to Jewelers Mutual Insurance which paid for it so I had to get a police report and it was filed. I'm not too sure if the claim went against them or your store or somewhere else but it was resolved. Yes, there was a police report and there was a settlement so the matter was closed. We can always go to the scenario and say that the other Jeweler possibly switched the diamond. This is this actually what Ali was saying. First of all, I had Direct sight of that individual so I know it was not them. Secondly, when I originally picked up the diamonds you didn't compare the diamonds when I picked up the certificate which is a concern for me because I should have had it looked at again when I left to verify this expensive diamond match the diamond certificate which I originally purchased. Alis mom Mali is very defensive and acts like she knows what's going on with this whole operation. In fact, she says there was no police report which is not relevant anyway because the claims over and everything's done. However if you know Jewelers Mutual Insurance do require a police report especially for a loss of this magnitude. I think it's a responsible for your company to make a mistake like this and you guys need to take responsibility for your actions. If it's the customer's fault we can understand things. However, when employee makes a big mistake like that they should go bend over backwards for you and come to a resolution and the company should reward you and give you something at least as a token of their appreciation for the wrongdoing. I'm just telling the truth about the whole incident. Everything I talk about is facts. I don't like to Give opinions because it doesn't really work out when you give opinions. But Ali really pushed egl Israel as a good diamond grading company. I have talked to lots of experts that said that company inflates the grades of the diamonds. You should always use GIA for diamond grading. In light of this, if Ali is a gia graduate why is he trying to sell diamonds from different graders. If I had a license to be a mechanic for BMW's why would I work on a Mercedes ? I'm sorry this didnt work out but hopefully your company can learn about these experiences and change your behavior so you won't have these kind of problems in the future. San Diego Superior Court page is very busy with the name of your company. A lot of people don't even file lawsuits because they don't want the drama. However, when you look at all of them it's an astronomical amount of lawsuits which would match a company like Costco or another very big business in San Diego like Walmart. You become defensive and defend every review. But you have numerous negative reviews and the good ones appear to be someone you know. A learning lesson is to he accurate, honest, have great customer service and you won't have issues like this. I was a good customer and started out with $600 ratings then other stuff then a diamond. We were closing in on our wedding date and hadn't made a decision regarding our wedding bands. In an informal conversation with two young ladies, they had suggested that we head to the Diamond Boutique, as they could do a custom band for my fiancée. Up until this point in our jewelry seeking journey, we had thought that a custom band was the way to go to achieve the look that my fiancée wanted. Our primary mission upon our first visit was to find a band for her but we decided to also look for something for me. Upon arrival, we were kindly welcomed and made to feel at home. Newsha and Sasha, the two young ladies mentioned earlier, provided a lot of advice and several options for my fiancée's band. It turns out the style that my fiancée thought she didn't like ended up being her first choice because Newsha and Sasha carefully selected bands that would compliment her engagement ring in both color of gold, as well as size, shape and clarity of diamonds. After a quick, but thorough, fitting we selected two bands and my fiancée was in love with them! We then switched to selecting a band for me. I really didn't have any idea what I wanted, so Sasha and Newsha helped me to find unique characteristics that I liked to narrow my selection. The band I wanted was made in pure platinum but my fiancée's rings were yellow gold. We expressed the desire to have similarities between my fiancée's rings and mine and came up with the idea of doing a yellow gold interior and platinum exterior. Long story short, we created the band of my dreams, which I didn't even know I had, and when it came in we were amazed! During this entire process, the staff at Diamond Boutique also inspected my fiancée's engagement ring, which we had purchased elsewhere. Upon inspection, they were nervous about one of the prongs supporting the center stone; this was also something that a jeweler had told us in the past. They offered to repair the prongs to better support the center stone and did so for a very reasonable price. The result was amazing! The stone clearly hadn't been set right in the first place because when we received it back from Diamond Boutique, it looked 5x better than when we had dropped it off. My fiancée was a little nervous to leave her ring for a couple of days but the staff mapped out her diamond and gave her the confidence she needed. I went to the Diamond Boutique a few months ago to look at engagement rings for my fiancee for our upcoming summer wedding. I knew I had to have the most special ring for my most perfect bride. I knew that a standard, run-of-the-mill engagement ring would definitely not cut it. I also knew that I know less than nothing about jewelry. Once at the Diamond Boutique, I was greeted by the lovely and knowledgeable Phaedra. After consulting for over an hour and a half, she helped me choose the perfect setting for my 80's rocker bride to be. Then it was time to pick out the perfect diamond to rock that setting. Phaedra called over another employee, gemologist Sasha, and tasked her with choosing the ultimate one carat rock for me. The two of them had me in stitches laughing the whole time! I think they both sensed my anxiety over this whole ring thing because I only have one chance to get this right, and I'm an absolute jewelry idiot! They both were extremely knowledgeable and earned my complete trust. In different ways they each had at least something in common with my fiancee, and I really felt that they had my back on this. Sasha wanted to order more diamonds to find that perfect match to this one of a kind setting, so it was another week before she called me in for a viewing. SHADY BUSINESS TO SAY THE LEAST!!! I came into the Diamond Boutique in Del Mar to pick up a free pearl necklace from a celebrity poker tournament that my father in law had played in. When I went in I was approached by Mali Digius, the owner of the Diamond Boutique. When she gave me the free necklace I showed her a ring that my mother in law had passed down to me and asked her what they would charge if I wanted to make the ring into a band that could sit next to my wedding ring. I wasn't sure if I would even have something made for my self or save the ring for my daughter. But figured I could at least get an idea if I wanted to do something down the road. She asked that I leave the ring with her at that time so she could look at the stones and give me an estimate. She phoned me a few WEEKS later and quoted me over the phone at over $1300. I told her at that time that I was unable to commit to doing anything and would be in to pick up my ring. She then stated that she would really like to just have a picture drawn up for me so I could see what the ring would look like that she wanted to create. I told her that I wasn't going to be able to have the ring made right now and would really rather just pick up my ring and that I couldn't commit to anything. Mali then stated don't worry about it, it won't cost for us to draw up the picture and then you can see what we can do. ...you will just love it. I then asked her how long it would take for her to draw something up and she said only a few days. So I told her to go ahead and have the picture drawn up. She said she would call me in a few days when the drawing was done. Well about 2 weeks went by and when I didn't hear from her I stopped in and told her I was there to pick up my ring. She said I thought you said to go ahead? And I said what?!? I never said go ahead?? I said you can go ahead and have the picture drawn up! I asked her right then and there; Did you start making this ring for me? And she said oh no... We're just having the picture drawn but why don't you just let me make it for you? You can make payments. I told her again that I wasn't going to have the ring made and that I would really just feel comfortable taking my ring now and she told me it wasn't there. That her daughter had taken it home to test the stone in the middle to see what it was...and that she wasn't finished with the drawing yet but would be done shortly. She then phoned again a few weeks later and told me the drawing was done and that she had a "surprise" for me. When I got to her store to my shock she had taken apart my ring! She had removed all of my baguettes and diamonds as well as the main stone in the middle of the ring... and my ring was mangled!! It is painfully obvious that they took no care in even removing the stones form my ring not to mention I NEVER gave her permission to take a part my ring. The prongs were all ripped apart and were totally ruined. I didn't even know what to say when I picked up my ring I was so upset and about to cry. I was just left in disbelief. Is this how people do business? She kept saying why won't you let me just make the ring for you? Just leave it with me you can make payments... I think she thought if she took it upon her self to just take my ring apart I would have no choice but to have her make a ring. She acted like she did me a favor and said having the stones removed would save me $ if or when I decided I wanted something made. This was a family heirloom that I wasn't even sure if I would have it made into something else or pass it down to my daughter in the first place. Now I don't even have that option. On top of it some of of my baguettes are freshly chipped from them removing them. DO NOT TAKE YOUR JEWELRY HERE! I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE YOUR JEWELRY HERE!! They are shady!!!!! to follow up on the manager's comment... your a liar. but of course I would haven't expected anything less! otherwise you wouldn't have done this in the first place. there was no order I never signed anything or approved ANYTHING other than an estimate. I never saw a casting until I came in to pick up my ring and I NEVER would have told you to start anything when i knew I couldn't afford it... the truth will prevail. After this happened to me I found several other stories from their customers who unfortunately have experienced the same. When I called the to have her rectify the situation the owner Mali told me that she was not responsible for this and to take her to court! I've actually tried serving her via certified mail (she wouldn't sign for it) and even have had a friend who is a former process server go in several times trying to serve her and she won't come out.... if you don't have anything to hide and you didn't do anything wrong then why are you hiding? read more

So, my husband went back the next day.....and she announced, "Oh, it's GONE, I sent it off for a new estimate!!!!!!!!!!" WHAT!!!!!!!!! Really, don't you think...that took a lot of nerve...to do that! Considering my husband was wearing a new watch!!!!?????!!!!!????? DON'T DO ANYTHING HERE! They also "lost" my beautiful and favorite wht/yel gold earrings!!!!!!!! I got a measly credit....but before the credit I was told by Mali, she had everything. She refrained from telling me she had lost my favorite earrings. Also.....something very bizarre happened. I took in all my DIAMOND BOTIQUE paperwork, lots of receipts, etc. she snatched them away from me...said I didn't need them anymore!!!!! What? After a terrible experience here I asked around and multiple independent jewelers told me that this is among the top 5 worst jeweler in SD and that they're dishonest and not trustworthy. With so many jewelers in SD, choose someone else. I picked out a Gabriel & Co Solitaire setting from Diamond Boutique in Del Mar and have had a nothing but a terrible experience. My ring was set off center, meaning the head/diamond leaned to one side. When I went back in to Diamond Boutique they said I must have hit my ring on something and that it's common to happen. This isn't true because I've never hit my hand/ring on anything. Even so, I asked if they took a picture of the ring/setting before they have it to me. They said yes, they would find the pictures and call me. It's been nearly a month since I went in and asked to speak with someone and I've been trying to get a hold of someone there but nobody has called me with a solution..... So I'm stuck with a crooked engagement ring. I've contacted the jewelry designer and they're looking into Diamond Boutique because this is not the first complaint they've received. read more

I'm not sure this location still exists since they recently opened a new store in Del Mar and have been consolidating with eventual plans to close down this location, but the Digius family is personalable, experienced, friendly, and helpful in navigating the engagement ring hunt. I dealt mostly with Ali while shopping for my wife's engagement ring. I started out visiting their shop and a few others that I received while looking for stores that carried the Gelin Abaci Tension ring collections. They were much more welcoming and friendly than other jewelry shops I visited and also introduced me to the 8star diamond, of which they are the sole sellers in San Diego (I think). WHO CAN I TRUST? My late precious mother passed on to me a beautiful diamond ring with historic significance. I discovered that the major diamond was loose in the platinum setting and the settings of the surrounding diamonds were also insecure. My husband and I have been doing business with the folks at the Diamond Boutique for several years now. We met them at a bridal bizarre and really liked them because they immediately treated us as if they'd known us forever. We also appreciated their business style because (in my opinion) they treat all of their customers equally - they don't turn their noses up at you and refuse to do business with you because of how you look, like some jewelers I've encountered. Any time we (or anyone from our families) has a custom piece of jewelry they want modified or created, they have always worked with us to see that it turns out perfect. My husband (who normally hates wearing jewelry) recently had a ring made for himself and they did an AMAZING job to make it just the way he wanted it. He now wears it every day and gets stopped constantly by other people who want a closer look at the unique ring (Thank You, Mali!). We have really had a great experience here. My sister recommended them to us for wedding bands as she and her husband bought their rings there for their wedding as well. They have a great selection from very reasonable to very high end. The staff is so warm and sweet and you can't help but fall in love with the owner Mali. She is so inspirational to talk to as well. Recently we had to have our rings modified as they were becoming too loose since we've lost a little weight so we recently brought them in (3 years after purchase) and with no questions asked they ordered us new rings at no charge since they had a warranty on damage or resizing. Per Mali's suggestion we also had these engraved and the engraving came out even better than expected. We get so many compliments on our rings and they are perfect for us as they are very durable and don't require maintenance since the material is tungsten. read more

I bought a ring at Diamond Boutique which I saw in a reputable jewelry store downtown for half the price I paid. The ring broke and I had it repaired downtown.
