My family had been going to Diamond Dog Grooming for about 11 years (2011-2022) and it is only now that I am making this review, so please forgive me for such a delay. It is important to note that I had ample time to think over Lisa's services, and when I remembered her business, I knew I just had to say something before I let more time pass by! I have quite a sharp memory and can still provide specific details on what makes Diamond Dog Grooming a wonderful place that will make your furry companion look and feel incredible. Before I dive into my review, I must offer context about the customer that would become a regular at Diamond Dog Grooming: Oscar was a scared little pup that was abandoned by a cruel woman who left him at a groomer's in New York, and shortly afterwards, that establishment literally went up in flames. The poor guy survived the fire and was taken to a shelter, where he needed to find an owner quickly or else he'd be euthanized. It would've been the end of the road for him, if not for my mother. She invited Oscar into our home as he trembled in her arms on a freezing January evening; his ribs were poking out of his fur, as he was a timid skeleton too afraid to even sleep in front of anyone. It took months before he was healthy enough to bring to a new groomer, and we made sure it was one that was reliable enough to care for our new best friend. When I visited Diamond Dog Grooming for the first time, I noticed the sweet smell in the air that I would later know to be some kind of treatment that Lisa would provide my dog that would have him smelling like fresh laundry. We were greeted warmly by her, and while I can't say much for her prices (my mom handled all the payments), I will say that they were reasonable enough for the average middle to lower class family in New Jersey. We would drop off Oscar at Lisa's and specify exactly what services we wanted. Around the early afternoon or so, we'd get a call that he was ready to be picked up and that was it- nothing more complicated than that. The parking outside was a bit difficult, but it was worth it to see just how much our dog had glowed after his visit. Oscar's fur was always freshly trimmed, eye crust wiped, and tail wagging with joy. The place itself was very neat, with all dogs properly restrained to prevent them from running off. Sometimes, you can walk in to see one of them being pampered on a table- it's the cutest thing! Even around holidays, Lisa gifted Oscar with a special item like a toy or bowtie. I never doubted that she deeply loved him and her work. Nearing the end of his life, Lisa noticed his behavioral changes where he struggled to sit still for grooming, snapping at her. Because of this, the services couldn't always be provided, but Lisa wouldn't charge my mom for that day. After Oscar passed, Lisa was visibly heartbroken, and it was evident that my dog was one of her most beloved customers. My mother visited for the last time to gift Lisa with a keychain that I made for her that had a photo of Oscar smiling in the park, so she could always remember his face. I'm very glad I was capable of providing closure for a lady that cherished my dear, furry friend. I cannot say a single negative thing about Diamond Dog Grooming. In all the years I've stopped by, I've been met with great customer service. Even better was how Oscar evolved from being frightened and antisocial to friendly and peaceful in Lisa's care. It used to baffled me when she'd say how he was such an angel when I knew him to be very aggressive. Yet over time, I saw the effects she had on him show up within the household. I thank Lisa and her team for providing consistent care to Oscar, and making his last days more beautiful than I could've imagined. I have a very fussy Schnauzer and Lesa takes the time and that's an amazing job every single time I really wouldn't go anywhere else

So I made an appointment for my 8 pound Chihuahua two days ago and I considered myself very lucky knowing that it's difficult to get an appointment here. When I walked inside, I'm assuming the owner, a woman, immediately asked me how old my dog was and I said she's 14. She replied with "I wish I knew how old she was" (well, you didn't ask me and no other groomer ever did either ) "because I wouldn't have taken her, She's "ON BORROWED TIME" and she really should go to a vet to get groomed. Needless to say, I gave her a piece of my mind that she should have asked me and she should ask everybody how old their pets are especially if they're new Customers, I also told her how rude she was by saying that my dog is on borrowed time and how she would've liked it if someone said that to her about her pets. And to boot, not the least bit Apologetic! She kept looking towards the back for what I assume wants to get the intention of another employee that was in there. RUDE! RUDE! RUDE! I have never my in the 14 years of my boo's life, ever encountered anyone at a Groomers with such poor attitude. I took my dog to a groomer a month before I went to her and they never told me my dog had fleas and my dog still shed tremendously. She told me he had fleas and treated him without charging extra and he doesn't shed as much at all. She does a great job and no job is easy.... read more

I took my extremely scraggly dog for grooming at Diamond, and he came back looking like a completely different dog, in the best way! His fur was evenly cut all over and was silky smooth where before it was a little rough and extremely patchy. He looks ready for a dog show,and he seems happy with all the attention he's getting too! Lisa from diamond dog groomers is a wonderful woman with a beautiful soul. Yesterday I picked up Lucy our latest foster pup. On the way home I picked up my fur baby Dean from her, he spent the day getting groomed after she clipped my rabbits nails. When I told her our new foster was in the car and needed a bath when we got home she dropped everything and told me bring her in and give her a bath. She not only bathed her and made her smell sooooo much better but clipped her nails and gave her a new collar. I can't tell you how much I appreciate her and all she does for my fur babies. Excellent! For years I had a Scottish Terrier, and Lisa took wonderful care of our Lucy. She always looked so beautiful after her grooming, and would proudly prance around. After Lucy passed we adopted a Schnauzer mix, and he adores Lisa. She makes him look truly adorable. This past summer I adopted an elderly Jack Russel/Rat Terrier mix. He's old, partially blind, partially deaf, somewhat incontinent and he has a huge fatty tumor which can't be removed. Lisa worked with him, took care of him, got him bathed and clipped and he looked great. He doesn't trust many people (how can you blame him, after the way he was treated) but he really took to her. Lisa's commitment to pets of all ages and sizes is very evident, as is her caring nature and beautiful work. Not every dog will sit still for a grooming, but she works diligently to make sure all are beautiful and well-cared for. Lisa has volunteered her time to help groom shelter dogs. not a bad person but a slave driver for a boss! doing anal ears wash dry de matting cleaning wanting me to answer phones and deal with customers while doing 40 dogs a day! imagine just trying to grab 40 dogs and stick them in water let alone triple wash glands and pulling ear hair and double dried w 2 4hp heat blowers that actually hurt most dogs' blows em off the table and their sensitive ears so they scramble and scratch ' has to be done asap regardless! i was being groomed to be a slave so one could chill listen to music mad just trim' a reg day is like 30plus dogs and will keep taking walk ins because the robot will do it ' leaving soaked dehydrated hungry and exhausted ' go home try to eat take dog out wash n get to sleep wound up like a cheap toy just impossible ' meanwhile im getting up earlier to pick up the boss and drop her kid off' when i first went in all the tables were rusted n torn to shreds' dogs feet n tails would get caught n made it all so much harder' I took it upon myself to go find the material strip the old tables and refinish them and fix the ones that were falling apart. I even did a big electric job that no one wanted to touch because we had one outlet that kept throwing the fuse all day long with nobody wanted to fix it, so I did it on my own and I know I was the most thorough dog washer and reliable person but when you abuse someone. I've been taking my dogs to Diamond Dog grooming for the past year. Lisa and her staff are absolutely wonderful. My Cavalier comes back looking great and smelling fantastic (which I can't say is a common thing for the little "cheese face"). My Greater Swiss Mountain Dog is 110lbs of pure chicken, but Lisa manages to get her nails clipped with kindness and lightning speed. My dogs and I are so happy to be clients. read more

AWEFUL! I have a 12-year old disabled Shih Tzu. We took her in for a puppy cut, and they shaved her completely. On top of that we are in the middle of a snow storm. My sister picked her up and I could not believe she even paid them. When I called to tell them I was beside myself about this, the women had the audacity to cut me off right away, took a very nasty tone and tell me they could not handle her - oh and that they 'feel sorry for her!' If they could not have handled a disabled dog, they should have told us from the beginning or I would have stayed with her. I was like "you don't feel bad shaving my dog - down to the ears - in the middle of a snow storm?!" She is going to freeze now :( Then the women told me to never come back - I am disgusted. Awesome place, awesome staff. I've never had any issues. My dog loves this place. I love seeing the owner's dogs when I go in there, too. It has a very homey feel. I find that her prices are much more reasonable than some competing businesses. You'd pay double in Hoboken, that's for sure. My little guy's wash & cut is about 45, which is uber reasonable. Last week they groomed a dog for Liberty Humane Society because some piece of trash poured nail polish on the dog (a cute little terrier mix) and dumped her. Diamond Dog grooming's owner donated her grooming services, hand-trimming the dog when the dog was fearful of the clippers, and made her into a stunning little girl. I was a big fan of "Oh my Dog" in Kearny, but due to the location and wait time, its difficult to feel like driving to Kearny is convenient. So I decided to try a place closer to home. I decided to try this place out, wish I would've researched other places before hand. T hey get the job done and the cost was about $55 for my 6lb Yorkie, but I don't see myself coming back here anytime soon. I didn't like the cleanliness of the salon and the fact when the dogs are done with their cuts they're tied to hooks on the walls near the main grooming station. Diamond Dogs was recommended to me as the best place in Bayonne. Lisa might be a great groomer, but I have no way of knowing that. In fact, she left me in quite a bind. I am writing this review because I'm very disappointed in the way that I was handled. Today is Thursday, August 1. We adopted an 11-year-old senior dog last week. I called diamond dogs last Friday to try to get him in ASAP as he really is in need of a good grooming. (The poor dog spent over a week at the shelter in Newark and has some mats in his hair.) I think it would help to make him more comfortable. Diamond dogs didn't have an opening until Thursday. Even though we were scheduled to leave for vacation that day, I figured we could take him in the morning, get him groomed, and still leave in the early afternoon. When I parked across the street for my 9:15, appointment, Lisa called and told me that she would not hear of the dog. She said she did not realize that he was a recently adopted senior dog and didn't feel comfortable grooming him without knowing his past history. I understand her possibly having reservations. However, I informed the person on the phone that he was 11-year-old dog that we had just adopted when I made the appointment. That would've been the time to tell me that they didn't want to deal with him. Then, I would've had plenty of time to make arrangements to find another groomer Who could handle an 11-year-old dog. Update: after Diamond Dogs canceled on us, we called Doggie Spa on 15th St. and Broadway. They said they would have no problem taking our dog and actually had a cancellation and were able to fit us in right away. Based on what happened to us, I would recommend thinking about going to Doggy Spa for your grooming needs. read more

Anton hates to get trimmed. Hates it. For his mere 20 pounds, he can get downright nasty when he gets trimmed. This time it wasn't any different, and despite his protests, the groomer did an excellent job of handling him. She gave him a new cut, enhancing his already almost-not-able-to-take-it cuteness to new levels of "awwww". Anton is a wire-haired dachshund, with an undercoat which needs to be stripped. Not only could she strip him (which not all groomers know how to do), she cleaned his ears, and styled the doggie mohawk I asked her to leave on him. We will definitely be coming back. Nice staff & facility. Overall decent haircut on our dog. The problem is that each time we take our dog they for some reason shave raw the hair around our dogs anus and the underside of the tail. We have been very clear asking them not to do this yet they decided to do it again. This causes considerable discomfort and irritation to our dog and doesn't stop for several weeks. As a result they are losing this customer since they must think it's funny or something to shave a dog like that even after we asked them not to. read more

I have an mini eskie and I used to have a shih tzu (she passed of old age though) and I've been bringing them here for a couple of years and the staff is always welcoming and nice and I know exactly what I'm being charged for. My two dogs had two pups a couple of years ago and we gave them to my nieces as their birthday presents and their mom brought them to another groomer but he closed so I recommended Diamond. When she brought them in, the girl at the desk looked so confused and she said 'I know your dogs seem so familiar but why?' and my god sister informed her that their father was a regular client and the lady lit up and shouted 'Yuki!' (that's my eskie). It's great that they not only remember us, not only remember the dogs, but they remember their names. My dog doesn't require grooming, only her nails trimmed, so I've been coming here every few weeks for the past few months to get it done. The staff is always friendly and stop what they're doing to accommodate us as walk ins - they even file her nails down. I went to some closer places, but they weren't nearly as friendly, and certainly didn't seem to love animals as much as the staff here. I can't speak to the quality of the grooming, but the animals I see always look happy and never seem under stress. read more
