The moment you walk in the urine scent is like no where I've been. Not even shelters. Brought my dog for a temperament test where the test was just bringing him in the room with about 12 to 15 dogs. They piled on top of him. He's only 11 pounds. Thank God, the workers decided to distract the dogs and move them away. I was not able to go back and view. The area of the dogs were in just see on camera. The camera link provided us has a huge Blindspot so the one hour my dog was there I didn't get to see him. I watched the camera extensively and the dogs aren't played with or taken out. There's no enrichment. I wasn't given any pictures or dog reports. He came out completely covered in dog slobber. Drenched I feel like they could've wiped him down. He came home took a nap once he woke up. He had a limp. Thank God it just seemed to be muscle soreness or maybe some type of over extension. That being said the experience was not great. read more

Update: currently up all night because my dog caught kennel cough there. My puggle spent one night at the last minute for an emergency and then a few more when we went on vacation. We watched him on the camera everyday and he seemed to be having a great time playing with the other dogs. The price is fair and the staff answers all my questions. We used their services in October 2024 for boarding our two healthy 9-month husky dogs, fully vaccinated. After 7 days, they came home with coughs, chills, and a fever and weakened. Oct 27th 2024 we've spent $1500 in medical bills for ER Visits and Vet Dr follow-ups for tests & treatments. Both facilities confirmed our dogs contracted 2 kennel virus. I just had a very excellent experience boarding my dog for the very first time at Dusty's Dog House. When my holiday travel plans very abruptly changed last minute, the staff was extremely understanding and assured me it would be perfectly ok to cancel my reservation without any penalty. However, I decided to adjust the stay for a shorter period to acclimate both myself and my pup to the boarding experience. After day one, I asked them via e-mail how my dog was acclimating as I was nervous since it was his first time boarding. They gave me a rapid, thorough update including a picture. What a relief! Dusty's fills a much needed service to the Bayonne Community. I attended the grad opening event with my pup and really enjoyed the environment and the staff. I knew with winter approaching I would need to get my best bud some extra exercise to help get through the season. Today (dec 6 14 ) was his first day and it was all I hoped for. The staff was outstanding taking care of my boy. They were friendly warm and eager to help when I couldn't view the webcam (my error not theirs). My pup had a good first day and the staff was very kind in finding him the right group so that he could have plenty of exercise and socialization. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. First of all I have to say that Dustys is extremely clean and does not reek of urine like some of the places I visited in downtown Jersey City (I just moved to Bayonne). Its priced well, not cheap but also not looking to kill your pockets. This is Nina's 2nd day going. I'm not going to lie I was skeptical about her being in the room with big dogs as she's only 5lbs. But I know that she needs to learn to interact with dogs of all sizes. Yesterday I watched her for most of the day on their petcam. I saw the staff diligently cleaning after each dog. I especially like that they don't use a mop, which is a cesspool of bacteria. They spray the area and then use a high powered vacuum. The entire facility is extremely clean. When I went to pick Nina up she wasn't super anxious like she is when she's left home all day. We got home she was tired but not overly exhausted. The next morning we set out to go. She promptly stopped at their door and waited for me to open it for her, I handed her leash to Frank and my Nina walked off without looking back...I'm going to take that as she likes it!!! This is my first time posting a review. I had to post because this place totally butchered my pup. The WORST groomer ever. Just moved back in town and took one of my pups here and he came home with zero hair. I ask to trim him on the short side and they totally took all his hair off and if that was not bad enough he has a bad cut above his nose. The owner who sat at the front desk seemed as if I was inconveniencing him with business. Never again will I bring my pups here. My daughters where crying when I brought him home. I used this place to board my small dog for a few days because the one I had been using recently was closing due to significant decrease in business due to COVID-19. The staff at Dusty's was friendly and I mostly liked the place itself. I was happy they were able to board my dog even though he did not really get along with the other dogs there after they did a quick temperament check. They stated they would keep him more separate and not have him in the playroom with the other dogs which was fine by me. They followed my feeding instructions clearly which I was pleased with. When I picked him up though and we went in the car, he reeked so much of dog urine to the point where it was difficult to have him next to me in the small space of the car because he stunk so much. He definitely did not smell like that when I dropped him off, in fact he still faintly smelled like the doggy cologne that the groomer had spritzed on him during his grooming appointment a few days before. My dog also had a lot of dry accumulated gunk near his eyes from his tear stains (he is a chihuahua and they are notorious for producing a lot of tears) which I cleaned with a wet napkin on the ride home. It was so much dried gunk, not even a little which would not have been a big deal. I feel like they could've just wiped the tear stains from his eyes once or twice during his 4-day stay since it was accumulating a lot and hardened. The dog boarding place I used several times prior to Dusty's Dog House, my dog did not stink like that when I picked him up from there nor did he have such accumulated dry gunk near his eyes. I will be making a grooming appointment for my dog soon because the stench is quite strong even though I just had him groomed a few days prior to boarding him at Dusty's Dog house. In summary, I don't think I will be using Dusty's Dog House again due to the reasons stated above after I picked him up. read more

I left my pup there with food and was told they will "try" to feed her but, will probably not eat because she will be playing. The food provided for my pet was not even touched as I tied the bag a certain way. I placed my puppy in another daycare facility and she is being fed (I can see on the camera) and appears much happier than when she attended Dusty's. I removed my puppy within three days of her going there. Lastly, no vaccination records were asked and my puppy got super sick.... I'm wondering if other dogs have their records on file. Seriously thankful for a doggy daycare, boarding AND grooming place! Took our Pugsley here to get groomed and also have his temperament assessed for daycare. Before I even get to the grooming part of it, let me start by saying that the facilities are amazing. The upstairs, where the dogs are boarded is basically new construction. It's clean and spacious. The play spaces are also spacious and but the looks of it, kept clean. Before we left Pugsley to get groomed, we met a few staff members. One we spoke with the longest was this guy who also trained the dogs. He was super nice and knowledgeable. Pugsley responded to him ASAP and listened to a few commands. Shocker! The grooming was QUICK (roughly an hour and a half) and just how I wanted it. You don't realize how different your dog looks under all that hair! We asked for our dog to be basically shaved down. And the groomer did just that. His nails were trimmed AND filed (it seems) and I also appreciate that they didn't leave his tail a completely naked nub, even though I didn't specify. On the ride home, Pugsley was quiet (this is rare) and his usual car anxiety was little to none. We plan on using their daycare services as well a boarding (as needed). It was a really great first impression. I wish the owner would write an "About Us" section on their website. I would love to know how him, the business, and the people who work there. read more

I rescue senior and special needs dogs and am very protective of them, my long hair dachshund Hershey has gone completely blind from cataracts and is very skittish, but the groomer is so gentle and sweet with him, he is always happily sleeping in the big bed under the checkout desk when I go to pick him up! read more

This review is long overdue. I used this place for the first time last year for dog boarding my baby for a week while I was on vacation. I was a bit nervous at first because I never left my dog in a place like this for such an extended period of time. He usually stays at the dog sitter's home. Anyhow, I took him there for a meet and greet. I found the staff to be friendly, the facilities seem to be clean and well kept. I took a tour of the place and they showed me where my dog will be staying for the week and explained what activities he will be doing for the week. So I tried it out and left my dog there for a few hours one day to see if he was ok. I picked him up and he seem to be fine and I was told there weren't any issues. Now it's time for me to leave for vacation and I drop my dog off without any issues. However, when I came back in a week it was like I was picking up a different dog. He look like he lost weight, he had a cut on his eye that looked like it was infected, and he was making this coughing/choking sound constantly. He just didn't look well at all. I have never seen my dog look so sickly. I asked the person at the front desk what happened and NOW they want to tell me another dog injured his eye. I said why didn't I get a phone call or something? They didn't even treat his eye. Also I asked them about this coughing/choking sound he was making and they were like "Oh, I'm not sure." I was livid. Over the next few days at home, my dog was not eating, sickly and not using the bathroom properly. This is definitely not how I left my dog and I have never left him somewhere to return to him looking so unwell. I immediately took him to his vet and learned his eye wound was infected and he had a case of kennel cough. I have never heard of this before. I called the facility back to let them know because obviously my dog caught it from another dog at the facility, and they were so nonchalant about it. I felt like as a place of business that deals with dogs, they should be aware of common illnesses such as kennel cough. They should be able to identify it and I should have been notified of his symptoms prior to picking him up. I would never use this facility again!!!! read more

We used to use the groomer's at Dusty's for both of our dogs. Unfortunately, we had to stop using them because during one of our groomers sessions for our older dog, Max, we found, after we picked him up and took him home, that the cocker spaniel ears had 5 medium size spots where it had bled from. At the time we picked up Max, the groomer did not mentioned this and it wasn't until we checked him at home that we realized what had happened to him. We felt angry that we had to find this way and we went back to the groomer and asked her about it and she said that the dog had knots that had caused her to cut too close and cut him. We told her that we understand that at times this can happened but what we didn't understand was her not telling us at the time we picked him up. My fiance and I feel that we can't trust the groomer anymore with our dogs because she might not tell us if anything wrong happened to them during the grooming session. read more

This place is a lifesaver. Our new puppy, Bella, had been diagnosed with severe separation anxiety within 4 weeks of when we got her from a rescue. She had been to another day care, but did not do as well there as they use crating as part of their program. Our vet recommended Dusty's & from the time I met with the owner, through the tour of the facilties, & after meeting several of the other staff members - I have been beyond impressed. They truly care about each dog, spend hours a day playing & engaging with them in one of two large equipped play rooms (one for very large dogs & the other for small-medium dogs), have a nap/break in their own private "rooms" (no crates, just a small room with a glass door on the front & a dog bed/hammock in each where the dog can relax/rest). I have had her here for 1/2 days (up to 5 hours @ $20), full days (up to 12 hours 7am-7pm $32) & just boarded her for 5 nights while we went on vacation & she LOVED IT!! They gave her medication twice daily while she was boarded & followed all of my many instructions regarding her food & snack requirements. Today, I used their pet taxi service & Bella was delivered to my door by one of their staff members for just $7/each way. Our puppy is happy, engaged, socializing with other dogs & people, & is actively playing/exercising all day while I can now focus on working (I used to have to take her to work with me as she could not stay home alone without losing her mind). I cannot recommend this place enough - the rates are very reasonable & you can even buy a 10-pack of any of their day care or boarding services & save 10%. RUN...don't walk to Dusty's with your special pup - you will not regret it! read more

This place is top notch 1) they keep this place super clean and it does not smell 2) the staff is amazing 3) they open early and stay open late...even on the weekends 3) they have an onsite groomer 4) my dog loves it there, no kidding, he practically takes my keys away from me and drives me there 5) this place is great for dogs, they hang out with thier friends and have a good ole time 6) prices are reasonable....I could go one and on. I absolutely love Dusty's and plan to use them regularly when we visit our in-laws in Bayonne. This was my 7-yr old pittie's first time being boarded and she (we) were a little nervous. The staff at Dusty's were so cool, professional, and easy-going, it made the experience much better than I expected. My dog, Gem, goes to Dustys several times a week, Not because she needs to I am home, but she wants to. I want her to socialize with as many dogs as she can and there are dogs of all shapes and sizes. She is a year and a half old Lab. We can't even say the name Dusty's without her running to the door. Brought my dog here 2 times. The 2nd time being today. I was worried because he is a pitbull and very hyper but they took him in anyway which was wonderful. The first time he was great, I watched him the whole time on the cameras, and his exit bath was done alright. However this time I was very disappointed. I watched for him on the cameras ALL day. I called once and was told he was being switched out with other dogs which I figured was because he was hyper. I waited a few hours and still no Max in the playrooms. So I called again and was told he might be in a "Blind spot". So I waited for the pictures to hit Facebook. Still no max. But I must say his bath was done better this visit. He smells great. I've been taking max to daycare since I rescued him while I was stationed in North Carolina.I've never had a problem with him anywhere even got to take the dog bus. I'm praying I can find someplace as great as Pawadise. I will be reviewing on Facebook and Yelp as well. read more
