Finding a trustworthy grooming place for your first pup - during a pandemic- can become stressful. Every time I found a place- there was a review (or not enough reviews) on Yelp/ Google that made me change my mind. I took my chances with You Lucky Dog and they were able to accommodate Benji (6 month old Cockapoo) for a Full Spa Package. I received a text message the day before that they had to switch the time from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. The place shares space with a Vet company. They are cage free. Gina greeted my sister & I when we dropped Benji off. She made me feel comfortable leaving him. We briefly reviewed what he was getting done and we were told to expect to get him in about 2.5 hrs. They charged my sister by phone to limit contact. She was able to add tip as well. My sister was a bit surprised that the total with tip was $93 as the website has the full package starting at $65.00. It is pricier than the other places we had in mind. Overall (4.5 stars), we were happy with Benji's look and cleanliness (just look at the picture!). We have plans on checking one other place before deciding which will be Benji's go to groomer. read more

We took our puppy here for her first grooming. It was absolutely awful. I am SO upset. And it was totally traumatizing for our puppy. We specifically did not want our puppy shaved, and they shaved her. The girl who groomed her showed us that our puppy had some matting on her legs and explained she would have to shave the mats off because that was the only way to do it, and we expressed our concern about that, so she said she would keep our puppy evened out and it would still be fine. It's not fine at all. It's so blotchy and uneven. She shaved the tops of her legs only, so she looks ridiculous. On one leg, she is shaved down to her pink skin (which ruins her coat and skin) and the other leg is shaved partially. The trim around her face is a terrible cut. It's the worst cut I've ever seen, it's so choppy. Almost $160 later (and after the groomer said "she was pretty good.. for a sheepdog" whatever that means) and we are so upset. I typically bathe my own dogs but Rush's size makes it quite a task! Thankfully Danielle's staff can handle my mini rhino. He came back squeaky clean and super shiny! His paws and tear stains are the most stubborn parts to clean but they look cleaner than I could've gotten them! Prices are also very reasonable! read more

The best groomer we've ever been to! Welcoming and super clean atmosphere, and the area where the dogs are held is nice and spacious. Everyone who works here is so friendly and genuinely cares about the animals. After some awful experiences I'm always nervous going to the groomer, but my little shih tzu looks perfect! Best groomer in JC. Gina does an amazing job every time and she's great with my Goldendoodle, Marshall. Marshall gets very excited to go see Gina and he's always in great spirits when I pick him up. Also, Gina has done a great job adapting to the pandemic. She lets you drop off and pick up your dog from his enclosure so you don't have contact with her. Wow! Wow! WOW! Is all I can say! This puppy grooming salon is beyond amazing! It surpassed my expectations and the woman who work there are so welcoming and friendly. My boyfriend and I searched yelp to find the purrrefect puppy grooming facility to groom our 6month old labradoodle named Porsha. It was sort of last minute when we decided to get her groomed and You Lucky Dig was able to accommodate us for such short notice. We called Saturday and was able to get an appointment with 24 hours for Sunday. I was so happy as was my boyfriend. Porsha needed it. We have been so busy and we don't like to go without each other so Sunday was perfect. That was already a good sign. Our appointment was at 2:30pm on Sunday August 27th, 2018. We arrived at 2pm and Danielle and Gina were so warm, welcoming and friendly. Two other ladies greeted us first when we arrived but I didn't get there names. Danielle asked us what we wanted and we told her the full spa package. We emphasized we wanted her nails cut and her eyelashes left because they are so long an beautiful. She told us she'll take care of Porsha and we can come get her in about 2.5-3hours. We asked a price she told us and we kissed Porsha goodbye and left. We called at 4:54 and was told we can come in because Porsha was finished. We arrived 4 minutes later and we were so happy. Porsha looked beautiful and she smelled marvelous! Our first grooming experience somewhere else was horrible. So we didn't have high hopes. But You Lucky Dog is now our 1 and only pet grooming spa that Porsha will be going to. You Lucky Dog is fantastic. I called one evening, in the middle of a heat wave, and asked for the next available appointment - because our pup was just too hot with all that fur! They were able to fit us in the very next morning. I was so thankful! Their facilities are inside a brand new, beautiful apartment building. Inside YLD, everything was spotless. They brought me and my pup inside, showed us the facilities and let me put him in the little holding pen and say goodbye. That was a nice feeling - compared to saying goodbye to him in the lobby and watching him disappear behind a solid door like other places. 2 hours later, right on time, I picked him up and he looked so much more comfortable. The price are reasonable consider its at Hoboken NJ. I've been coming here for almost 2yrs now. I like the new location and the store's new layout. I love how grooming tables are not hiding behind closed doors like some places. They always have really good groomers. I've always been happy with every cut (review posted on their old location). But this time(groomed 2days ago), it came out exactly how I wanted and I couldn't be happier. I have a shih tzu girl. I grew up with a shih tzu in Korea so I'm used to what's called Asian or Japanese style cut where they cut facial hair and hair around muzzle really round so they look like a baby. Not many groomers in the States are familiar with that and while they try their best, it doesn't come out exactly how I picture but I still thought good enough compared to other places and they are so nice with her which is why I only come here. This time, a new groomer I haven't met before cut her hair. I didn't get her name- she had short hair. When I tried to explain what I wanted, she said I know what you mean, you want that Asian style cut right? I was still skeptical but she did such a good job I keep looking at her haircut thinking she cut it exactly how I wanted! My husband didn't notice much difference from previous cuts and thought it was same as all other time so I guess I'm a little picky. I recommend this place& any groomer here highly. I brought my dog in as a walk in for a brush/bath/nail trim and everyone was super friendly and the place looked clean. I liked that the dogs stay in a gated pen rather than a cage before/after their service; however, I felt that it was geared toward smaller dogs a bigger dog could probably jump over the gate. The front door was locked when we came to pick up the dog, which I thought was great since they don't have a main gait between the door and where the dog pens are. My dog's coat looks shiny, he smells great, and he is super soft! He normally does fine at groomers or the vet, but he was being annoying and barked most of the time he was there and they still said he could come back! When we come back we will schedule ahead of time and hope he won't be super annoying again! read more

Best place ever! Our little Yorkie Oz has been going here since they first opened on Washington Street. Danielle and the staff are so accommodating and as busy as they are , they all go out of their way to make sure Oz feels comfortable every time he's there. They don't have cages, which I love , they have gated pens. Its always neat and clean. They also have many wonderful scents, including seasonal , one of my personal favorites is pumpkin spice for autumn . My family always loves the way Oz smells so appropriately for the seasons and his coat is always soft and shiny . Can't say enough good things about this shop, you will just have to see for yourself. I have been taking my dogs at You Lucky Dog for 4 years now. I absolutely loved older location and the fact that actual grooming room was separated from the waiting area. Current space is small and very noisy. Dogs get so stressed from all the noise from 5 blow dryers being on at the same time, dogs barking all over the place and other 3-4 dogs waiting. Its a shame I have to look for an alternative. read more
