We are VERY particular about where we leave our dogs when we travel. After looking around at the…read morevarious options in the area we were referred to Dog Townsend by a woman who runs one of the pet food stores. The couple who owns and operates this place is from New York and they have a real love for dogs and a special understanding of how to create a safe, fun and harmonious environment for groups of dogs. In essence it's like a dog park but with a large staff making sure every one plays nice and has a good time. We have left our boys there twice now, the first time for a few days and the second for 16. Both times they have come home tired and happy and pretty stress free. The second time we took them they couldn't wait to get out of the car and go play - it was clear that they have good associations with Dog Townsend and that's what I like to see when I am entrusting them to someone else. In addition to structured play times they offer special little services, like massages and dedicated fetch sessions and nature walks. They'll also clean Fido up if you order the shampoo service. This is helpful! I also love the little daily reports that they fill out so you get a sense of what your little guys have been up to. The staff is across the board nice, warm and truly interested in the dogs. Nice feeling there. Beautiful flock of exotic chickens running around, too. My dogs love watching them. Place is very clean and the play space is a large covered outdoor area that they separate into different playgrounds. They group dogs according to "play tastes". Smaller dogs can be grouped together and over time they figure out who plays well with whom. It's a healthy and fun environment for all the dogs. And the place is just really beautiful. Really a great option for people who love their dogs.

As far as I'm concerned there is no better place to leave your dog. They have plenty of…read moresupervision and it's nice and calm. It's quite awesome to see a large group of dogs and no one is barking. They also have a separate area for little dogs and they love to pet and cuddle your dog ( the cuddly ones).

I am coming from out of town with my small mutt and need a place to care for her during the day. I was asked what type of dog she was and as soon as I mentioned that she was 12% German Shepherd, I was told they wouldn't take her. End of discussion. I was stunned. When I tried to continue the conversation, maybe just to ask if she had a recommendation, the woman was short, rude and I was essentially hung up on.

We paid her and gave her a tip. Our dog seemed slightly more shy than normal, but he's a shy dog anyways. 500 yards down the road there's pools of blood in the backseat of my car. This woman handed us back a damaged and hurt dog without saying anything. Immediately we return to try and address this and at least get some bandages. Understanding that accidents happen but frustrated that this info was not disclosed as it should've been. There was not more than 5 minutes between us leaving and returning. We called the business and nobody answered. When we returned no one was there and nobody answered the phone, middle of the day. The dog is still bleeding actively. It's obvious that this woman couldn't have been oblivious to this fact. There was simply too much blood. We wait around the place for fifteen minutes. Occasionally knocking or calling the business to no avail. They gave us a damaged dog, that they hurt, and then promptly ignored us! We will never come back here again. They hurt our dog then took our money. On top of that, they really didn't do a good job grooming at all. My dog is hurt and I am lied to and taken advantage of. Take care of your dog and stay away from this place.

Why would you put your dog at a kennel type place if you have or had this option. My dog is practically like family to Cindy now. It's honestly invaluable what she provides. My dog is never in a crate, and gets to hang with Cindy and her family, go out back and check out the chickens and other animals, he's not locked up in a cage for 20 of 24 hours a day. I get the overnight kennel places probably not having the man power to pay one on one attention to those dogs, but it's just that your dog is going from free reign of your own home to being in a kennel for hours at a time. It's a huge adjustment and difference. With Cindy, they're going from your home, to a home. She gives you updates too on how your dog is doing and sometimes even sends off photos too. I recommend Cindy to any & everyone who's in need for a dog sitter.

My little cat Murray was in the hospital, very sick, and needed to be transferred from her vet in Lodi to a specialist vet in Sacramento. I was tied up with a work crisis but Murray needed to get to Sacramento. After a frantic search on Yelp, I found Cindy and she dropped everything, on a Saturday afternoon, and drove from Manteca to pick up Murray in Lodi and take her to Sacramento. Cindy even stayed in Sacramento for several hours until I could get there. Cindy made it possible for my beloved Murray to get the best medical care and I am forever grateful. She sent me a video of Murray, which I cherish. Thank you, Cindy, your kindness, generosity of spirit and integrity are treasures; thank you for caring about my Murray as if she were your own.
