Dawn handles her very well and with such ease that it's really not worth it for me to battle with my dog in the shower. It is wonderful to feel her fur when she's all clean and smelling great! Claudia's home is on a quiet street in Port Townsend. A generous yard has sturdy fencing. Dogs are really her guests. The home is filled with toys and dog beds, but dogs have free access to beds and other furniture. They get several walks a day, and (if you like) photo updates come throughout the stay. When we picked up our high energy 13-month-old Northwest Farm Terrier, Marley, was relaxed and clearly at home. It's revealing that after our initial visit to get to know one-another, Marley would whimper and pull at her leash TOWARD Happy Paws. She loves it! Claudia has made a point of studying dogs. She believes only in positive re-enforcement, and makes it clear that this is a resort for dogs, not a training kennel. A look at her website reveals so much about her approach and philosophy toward companion animals. We will certainly return, secure in the knowledge that Marley will be happy and well cared for. Why would you put your dog at a kennel type place if you have or had this option. My dog is practically like family to Cindy now. It's honestly invaluable what she provides. My dog is never in a crate, and gets to hang with Cindy and her family, go out back and check out the chickens and other animals, he's not locked up in a cage for 20 of 24 hours a day. I get the overnight kennel places probably not having the man power to pay one on one attention to those dogs, but it's just that your dog is going from free reign of your own home to being in a kennel for hours at a time. It's a huge adjustment and difference. With Cindy, they're going from your home, to a home. She gives you updates too on how your dog is doing and sometimes even sends off photos too. Cindy even stayed in Sacramento for several hours until I could get there. Cindy made it possible for my beloved Murray to get the best medical care and I am forever grateful.
