My experience at Diamond Spring was great! I had a traumatic injury where I broke my jaw and several teeth. Between the extractions and crowns, Dr. Saoud was attentive and detail-oriented with my dental work, and the staff was kind and reassuring, which was especially helpful considering I was already skittish of dentists. When I needed dental work that the office does not provide, they connected me with providers within the same office building by directly referring me. My recovery process was harrowing, and the staff at Diamond Spring were effective and supportive throughout my months of dental work. This office is more concerned with making money than the concern of their patients. Although their website does not state emergency or Saturday hours, other info on the internet contradicts this. The reality is they only see patients during normal working hours, although I happened to call on a Tuesday for an emergency and was told no doctors were in. Dr Saoud failed to diagnose the cause of significant jaw pain I was having and dismissed my concern entirely. After seeing another dentist I was diagnosed with a severe wisdom tooth issue requiring oral surgery. They also attempt to "sell" services during your exam typically included in an exam by every other dentist I've seen. Once I questioned the receptionist about a billing issue and told her I had to go through this after every visit. She then told me I should consider going somewhere else. I went to this office because they accepted my insurance but you get what you pay for. They make up the difference by selling treatments and services that aren't necessary. This review is a warning to anyone who would consider going to this facility. I had an implant put in by "Dr" Napoli in Feb of 2022 & that procedure destroyed my life. Due to the implant I have over a dozen symptoms, each symptom disrupting some aspect of my life. I had a good job and made really good money as a scientist & a teacher, I lost my job & I will never be able to work in those fields again because of my injury. I was a musician & played 6-8 instruments & at this point I can only play two & I will never be able to play the other instruments or play professionally again. Every time I eat food I get triggered and it is anywhere from mildly unpleasant to extremely unpleasant and painful. I have lost over 40 lbs because I do not like to eat and eat only once a day and only because I have to. If you know what an informed consent form is, do you think the problems I am having because of this implant surgery were on the informed consent form? Do you think if it was I would have had the surgery? Do you think if someone had told me that there is a chance I would never be able to play music or eat without pain I would have had the surgery? These people are not even aware of the major problems that occur from titanium implants, whether dental or otherwise. I started doing research once I started getting sick & started to read case studies & scientific papers of all the serious problems that occur after dental implants. The dentists & the people who own & manage these dental facilities are completely unaware of the major problems associated with the implant surgeries. You would think if this is what you do for a living you would be aware of the specific risks & how to potentially troubleshoot should anything go wrong. Another thing they will tell you is that it is very rare for problems to occur, which is not really true. In my case, within a week of the implant being placed I started having problems which led me to have the implant removed 8 months later. In a sense I was lucky because from my research of the literature most people do not develop problems for 1-2+ years after implantation & at that point it is difficult to connect your health problems to the implant because your immune system can be compromised, you can have crippling headaches, neck pains etc & most people are not going to think those issues came from the implant. So in reality, the amount of injuries from implants is much higher than reported. Incidentally, there is no indication that my implant surgery was done "incorrectly", so even if the procedure is done correctly you can have serious problems. If you look at the people who have problems from implants, a large number of them have a history of allergies and asthma, of which I have both, yet my medical history was not taken into account. The problems I was complaining about were downplayed & ignored when they should have been addressed & I should have had that implant removed probably immediately. These places do not care about their patients though, they care about making as much money as they possibly can. Every time I saw the surgeon I had to wait 45 to 90 minutes past my appointment time & they would say well you know its surgery & you never know how long it is going to take. Yes but you could schedule one or two less patients during the day & allow for buffer time between appointments so that would not happen but you know than you would not make as much money. Same thing with follow up visits, they do not get paid for follow ups so they want you in & out as quickly as possible. The problem initially started in my throat & I was told it was just bad bacteria & it would go away once my body restored the balance. It was an easy way to get me in & out & not lose too much money. Anyway, I have been to a dozen specialists over the last year and spent thousands of dollars & no one really knows exactly what is wrong with me but there is no fixing this unless somehow my body can miraculously repair itself. After 18 months of being symptomatic & everything that is happened, it does not seem likely. Lawyers? Multiple lawyers told me it has become too expensive to litigate dental malpractice cases regardless of whether you have a strong case or not. So say there is a 1% chance what happened to me happens to you, is it worth the risk? Do you want to take the chance the same things happen to you? When I say these people destroyed my life, it is an understatement. If it happened to me it could happen to you & the only way you can make sure it does not happen to you is to never set foot in diamond spring dental & never get a dental implant from anybody under any circumstances. I cannot stress enough that no one on this planet wants what happened to me to happen to them. It is a horrible nightmare that I will never wake up from & these people are responsible for that nightmare. Go somewhere else & get dentures. read more

My first few visits were fine. Unfortunately, after this last visit, I have to agree with the ones that cited unprofessionalism in the office and discrepancies in charges. I went for a cleaning and paid one price, then my husband went and was charged 3X the amount with no explanation. He called me from the office and finally determined I had been charged at a different insurance company's pricing, so the difference was attached to his bill. I agree that everyone makes mistakes, but an explanation BEFORE the change would have been greatly appreciated. Then I was quoted one price for a filling and charged another. Several phone calls later, that change was also explained. The receptionist at the front desk did not check the sign in list for my name. She had been talking to another associate and in the middle of her conversation started yelling "Hello...Hello" which I realized was her way of getting my attention. I responded that I had signed in, which she did not acknowledge. There was just an incredible lack of professionalism from the minute I walked through the door. I had a dental cleaning by Harley, one of the dental hygienists at Diamond Spring Dental. She was extremely thorough but gentle. It was one of the best dental cleanings I have ever experienced. I have sensitivity in my teeth and usually experience some pain during the cleanings. Harley did a fantastic job and yet it was a completely pain free process. Life savers!!! You will not be disappointed! Dr. S (Dr. Saoud) delivers GREAT service. He and Dr. L are very professional, precise, clean, ethical, and talented. I found Dr. S and his group early 2019 when I switched my insurance carrier of 8 years from Healthplex (a Union Dental Insurance) to Aetna. Side note: I was with Eastern Dental in Parsippany for 8 years. Needless to say, 2019 was an awesome year for me and my family as we were well taken care of by Dr. S. and his group. We had cleanings, root canals, check ups, and sealants done at DSD. Unfortunately, I felt the need to switch my insurance yet again for 2020 (due to the amount of new work that I needed to get done & lack of insurance coverage by Aetna). Early 2020 was the worst when I left Diamond Spring Dental in Denville and went on to a Dentist in Rockaway. Sure, my new insurance (Emblem Health) covered 100% of my next root canal and crown... but the experiences at the Rockaway dentist had me running back multiple times to Dr. S to help fix the work that was horribly done to me... Dr. S and his compassionate group took me back in and eased my problems so I did not have to go home and suffer at the end of each day... They also let me pay very decent out-of-network prices. Trust me! At 41, I've had multiple work done to many of my teeth (even had implants). I've also visited many different dental offices (ortho, pedio, endo, for me and my children/husband). Diamond Spring Dental is PROFESSIONAL, QUALITY, COMPASSIONATE, PRECISE, TALENTED. I cannot thank them enough and cannot wait to get back in-network with them in 2021 !!! I called this office 3 weeks before my vacation. When I called I asked if they could do a root canal and fill-in my broken tooth. I had previously had another dental office take a full set of X-rays but they wanted prior approval for the work I needed to be done from my insurance company so I came here. First appointment they informed me that they need to take X-rays because the set my dentist sent through email wasn't clear. When I told them I didn't want to pay for another set of X-rays they said they wouldn't charge me. I met a dentist very friendly and informative. I repeat I was at the office to get a root canal he informs me he doesn't do that. I was then told I would have to meet with the endodonist and get a cleaning. Now prior to my visit I told them I wanted to meet with an endodonist because I had already been examined and told what I needed to have done. I was told that I needed to be seen by their dentist first I didn't understand this. But I accepted it. I am then told by the office staff that the work to be done would be expensive but they would work with me and they have payment plans and they work with a dental loan company. Second appointment one full week later. The endodontist told me what I already knew which was that I need a root canal and that I needed to meet the surgeon because I needed some teeth taken out. I had my teeth cleaned and that was all. I had repeated the urgency to get my broken tooth repaired. Nothing the appointments were all booked up and they referred me to another dental office one floor above that could do the work the same day They had three weeks to work on my tooth and all I had done was a cleaning. Needless to say I never went back and now they are sending me bllls for all the doctors they had me see. read more

Wow, I'm surprised at all the negative reviews. I've been coming to the office for the past four years and have never experienced many of those issues. I've been an anti-dentite for most of my life. I get major anxiety going to the dentist and have irrational fears (rubber gloves in my mouth, fear of choking on one of those cotton balls they shove in your mouth). The place I was going to always increased my anxiety, they were big up sellers and always called before my appointment to fill in canceled appointments (I make evening appointments for a reason). So I stopped going...bad mistake. I went to diamond spring dental (no recommendation, found them through my insurance) to find out a need a scaling (don't ever get this bad). Since then I've been going religiously every 3 months. They never try to upsell me, I've learned good dental habits (without feeling ashamed) and when I do have to get a procedure I'm well aware of my cost beforehand. Bad place to get dental work done. Very expensive and inefficient service. The hispanic (peruvian) hygienist is very rude, always in a bad mood, the assistants also are Mind even though they try to be nice. The manager don't know how to manage the practice and smell like nicotine all the time, very unprofessional and push you to get in the outrageous treatment. The doctors are not up to date, the good doctors are the surgeon and the orthodontist. And also the hygienist Caitlin....in resume not a good place to go. read more

On my first visit, I had to wait an hour after my appointment time. I went because they advertised a special on implants, $3,500 plus a free consultation. After the wait, I was told that X-rays were not included and would cost an additional $145 each. Having had implants done before, I know I will need at least 4-6 x-rays. I got a very bad feeling about bait and switch and left the office to seek a more honest dentist. If they advertise a price of $3,500 that should include everything, not an a la carte type charge system. read more

Very inefficient practice and terrible management. There are a few things wrong with this place. I will try to be as honest as possible. Firstly, as devoted patients for years we expect some level of warm welcome with the reception. I call them and I don't even get a decent greeting now. There is a constantly changing faces at every facet of this practice including doctors. A sign, I believe, of a poorly run business. Secondly, for my last few appointments I have been waiting in the waiting room for over an hour. I understand that doctors can run late but nobody even had the courtesy to make me aware of the situation. Apparently the last time I was there, doctor wasn't even aware I was in the waiting room Thirdly, there is a new assistant working with the Doctor every time I come. Every time! It would be ok if they were more gentle and more aware but they are lost for the most part. On top of that, I believe the doctor there is finding all these issues which I have never had. I had to seek a second consult to make sure and believe me or not, I was right. So beware and seek a second consult if you find something fishy. Lastly, we love the new kids dentist and the orthodontist there but the above mentioned issues have made my kids experience not as pleasant as it used to be. My biggest issue with kids was the assistant, I am assuming she was new because I have never seen her before. She was pushing to get an xray on my child (which has been ok in the past) but lack of gentle care (something you expect from a pediatric assistant) has caused a nightmare of an appointment for him. Overall, I would give it a zero star if I could. Lack of general awareness, mediocre quality of care and poor communications skills has made this place completely like a health center. I have been coming here for years before the new ownership took over. Lack of proper care and now I believe the quality has completely downgraded this practice. When I refused to pay before I ll see a bill from my insurance, the reception girl was super rude and was mumbling that she has no time for me. I would never return to this office. UPDATE MORE TO ADD: Wow I have really come to love this office! After my last dentist botched my mouth and the mouths of several family members and friends, I ended up switching to Diamond Spring along with my dad, sister and children. Over the course of the past month I have needed a root canal, a re-treatment of an old root canal and all of the work that goes along with it. I am super impressed by Dr. Book the endodontist who did both of my root canals. He was professional and efficient. I felt no pain! I followed up with Dr. Saoud (one room over) who was another wonderful professional. He did all of the follow up work with my root canaled teeth. He has a reassuring and kind bedside manner. Liz, the office manager worked with me to help as much as possible with cost as my insurance benefits ran out until next year! I will continue to recommend this practice to anyone looking for fantastic professionals all under one roof! Great experience! Just left my cleaning with Xenia and Dr. Aiello. Both were great! Xenia explained everything she was doing, and showed me a better way to floss. Dr. Aiello is the nicest, most friendly dentist. I was so impressed with his gentleness and great chair side manner. I have been a patient since almost a year ago...I love Dr. Amato and the office manager Liz is also top notch. There have been times that I have had an appointment and end up waiting until long after my scheduled time but, I figure that Dr. Amato gives all her patients the same amount of attention and care that she gives to me so...sometimes, it is to be expected. As with all businesses there are things that could be changed but, that is management, not the doctors or their assistants. I have read the reviews about the bad experiences with billing issues and I really believe if you just called Liz she would really work with you to fix the issue(s). I have been bringing my 11 year old to DSD since she was born. For the most part, it's been vedy efficient. Never any issues other than our recent visit with a 45 minute wait. Went in for a checkup for my son. He happened to have 7 cavities, 4 of which needed fixing. He also needed to have 2 teeth pulled out. I hesitated between having them filled here or in France (where we are from and where we were going over for the holidays, and also where dental work is much cheaper). I was then given a piece of paper to sign saying that my insurance would cover everything. I was then told that it would be better to get an appointment soon, which I did. In the end, my insurance did not at all cover all the costs as I had been told. I received a bill for $800. I am furious as I feel I have been lured into having the work done there. Also, it turns out that this is a "premium" facility and therefore is less covered by my insurance (of course I was never told that). And last but not least, my son is now complaining that his teeth hurt (even though they didn't before) & same thing for my daughter who also got a cavity filled in a month before (for which I also had to pay twice more then what I was told at first) I will say tough they accepted to cut what was left of the bill in half. But still, I believe that when you are dealing with health issues you should not try to push people to get treated in your facility by pretending that it will be free of cost. read more

I have been going there for 2 years. I need expensive work done and since they no longer have a payment plan I have been paying as I go. Unfortunately, my experience has been sullied. The dentists and hygienists are great. The do good work and explain everything as they go along. My issue is with the business practices. I realized I was being billed in advance for work that was not done. Each time I called about it I was issued a refund. Now here is the problem. I do not have hundreds of dollars laying around for Diamond Springs to hold onto. I have now been waiting for a refund from them since March and feel like I am totally getting the run around. I feel that this is shady business practices and I will not be returning. My advice is stay on top of what your insurance is paying and what they are actually billing you. read more

Been going there for nearly 20 years. Since the business switched ownership it has gone down hill. Beware. They used to be top notch, but are now a commodity. Here are the top issues from the last year. I was patient and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Everyone makes mistakes..but.. 1. Billing practices atrocious. I've asked to pay off bill 3 times; an amount was given and it was paid. There is still a significant balance. I'm not convinced that they are billing correctly. also crediting wrong account. Several thousand dollar balance on one and several thousand dollar debt on the other. They did not check over a year. When I questioned, I was told it was ok. I saw that there were fees over 180 days overdue. 2. Staff inconsistent. I had a regular hygienist, they gave me a fill-in a few times and it was clear they were not familiar with office and work was not adequate. Appears they have become a job shop. Office staff also appears to have high turnover. 3. Incorrect/Lack Follow-up. I was told I needed a filling and to have it on my next visit. On my next visit, they said all was good..I had to remind them that they had a filling to do. Was this an unnecessary procedure? 4. Lost Appointment. An appointment was scheduled, I drove a significant distance and the appointment was lost. I was asked if I could wait 2 hours; they may be able to squeeze me in, but they are overbooked. I will see if they make it right before I switch dentists. On a positive note, Caitlin is fabulous! 1/25 Update: Office Manager is doing the right and trying to remedy the situation. I do disagree with the unresponsive post provided by Diamond Spring Dental. Responses were made within 2 or 3 business days. Messages were left after business hours.
