I was searching for a place to see the wildflowers near Temecula, and DVM in Hemet popped up. Complete with a 22.7-mile wildflower trail that winds around the lake, this is the perfect place to see the 2023 superblooms. The marina is open Wed-Sun, 6am-6pm; I suggest going as early as possible to beat the heat as there is no shade. There is an $11 parking fee and a $4 trail fee. Once you park, head to the mobile trailer office and pay your fees. They also offer up snacks and drinks there if you need some refreshments for the trek. If you want to cycle the trail, there are e-bikes for rent. Restrooms are available near the office, too. Once you head out to see the flowers, be prepared to encounter lots of gnats; if they "bug" you too much, bring a face mask or other kind of covering while you're out there. I saw lots of California poppies as well as other lovely wildflowers and highly recommend this spot if you're in this part of Southern California.

There are electric bikes for rent at the marina, so we thought to bring our own e-bikes there to go on the 22.7 mile ride. Big mistake, it was a rough 3 hour ride around the lake because the path is mostly rough with lots if rocks, and just a bit of the 22.7 miles being a paved road. It would be such a beautiful area to ride, but never again, unless the path gets graded, like the website says.

Beautiful spot with boat launch and hiking. But too expensive. We ventured here during our trip to Temecula. It's not that far away from the vineyards and feels like an oasis in the desert. The lake is huge and can accommodate anything from kayaks to full-on speed boats. There's also a 21 mile trail around the full span of the lake. The only downside is that it's owned privately. So they charge a lot - $11 for parking and $4 per person for hiking trail. To put this into context, most California state parks charge about $6-15 while most national parks charge just $30 for a whole week pass. So, while we were looking forward to their wild flowers trail, we decided the charges were just a little to much for us to accept.

Here is a Place good For Hiking and it does have a Flower Trail also . The first thing you will notice is The Long wait to drive in to the Parking Lot also you have to Pay 9 Dollars for Parking and One Dollar per person to walk the Flower Trail . It's a Fairly Long hike !! If you like looking at Flowers there is not much to see here . But it does rent boats and Fishing Rods so you can go Fishing . But overall experience is ok . I might return to just walk the Trail again !!

Ask the Community - Diamond Valley Lake Marina

Can you fish off the shore? Or do you need a boat rental to fish?

Yes....you can fish off the shore as there is a trail that you can take as it is a bit of a hike down to find spots near the marina and boat rentals are available too.

What is the parking fee and how much is it to hike per person?

We just parked our vehicle and walked around and checked the lake out. No parking fee when we went. We did it hike.

Lake Skinner - A Perfect Camping & Glamping Escape!…read more Yesterday, I packed up my two boys (ages 8 & 10) and their friend from school (also 8) for our very first camping/glamping adventure at Lake Skinner--and it was absolutely perfect. We booked a site with just the basics--electrical and water hookups--for only $50, which was all we needed for our tiny camper. The campground was clean, well-organized, and had plenty of open sites with different options and amenities, including a camp store for convenience. Some of our favorite spots were the splash pad and the playgrounds--perfect for keeping the kids entertained. Even if you just come for the day, these areas alone make it worth the trip. The kids had a blast, and it was wonderful seeing so many other families enjoying themselves too. Since we had their friend with us, we left around 8 PM to drop him back home--only about a 20-minute drive to Murrieta--then returned to the campsite, played a few games in the camper, and settled in for the night. With a 6 AM wake-up, we still made it home in time to freshen up, eat breakfast, and get the kids ready for school. (We even packed their backpacks just in case we needed to go straight from camp!) My boys haven't stopped talking about the trip--how much fun they had, how exciting it was to sleep overnight, and how much they want to go back. As a retired Navy Chief (41 years old) now balancing a busy real estate career, this is exactly how I want to spend my free time--unplugging, connecting with nature, and making lasting memories with my kids. Affordable, family-friendly, and packed with fun--Lake Skinner has definitely earned a spot on our repeat list. We can't wait to do it again!
