Starting with Dan Thelen, he provided all options and cost of product details. There were no surprises. The install crew I understand has been with Total Exteriors from the start. The day of my roof installation Zion and the install crew showed up well before the planned start time and rocked it out. Their attention to detail, teamwork and final cleanup was more than what I expected and exceeded the experience that I had 23 years ago with a previous roofing company. Our house has a complicated driveway and parking situation which their crew was able to work around seamlessly. Our HOA had its own approval layer on top of the city permit, and Sun Vault Roofing helped us navigate a two-week back-and-forth over approved shingle colors (side salad: ridiculous that HOAs have this kind of bureaucracy). Despite the complications, Sun Vault Roofing kept us updated through every delay and milestone without us having to chase anyone down. That alone was worth the price difference. The crew showed up on time, worked two full days, and left the yard cleaner than they found it. The roof has now been through 2-3 major storms since installation, including the crazy hail in April and there is not a speck of damage. Everything looks sharp and clean. You can tell was done right all the way from the street. If you're getting multiple bids for a roof replacement in the Madison area, make sure Sun Vault Roofing is one of them. My back yard is on the edge of a conservancy and always mostly in shade and the ground stays soft so when a previous service had used a standing mower it left deep ruts in the yard that had to be filled. I told David this and asked not to use the standing mower but his guys used the standing mower anyway. The front of the house really cannot be done with the standing mower. David will no longer be doing anything in my yard.

A home inspector we spoke to recommended that we call John Briggs at Guttersmiths. John and Marcus installed new gutters on our Victorian, including a very tricky curved and segmented section over our front porch. Guttersmiths provided both quality workmanship and help and advice on how to best prepare and repair before the gutters were hung. In many ways he served as a general contractor, making sure that carpentry repairs and painting were done to his specs. John made sure that we were satisfied with each detail of the job, always arriving as scheduled, always courteous, always professional. We highly recommend this company for any gutter installation.

We undertook a large remodel project that included a new roof, windows, siding, and gutters than…read moreran from July-November. This two-star rating does not reflect the quality of work performed by the individual sub-contracted companies, which final product was satisfactory after timely repairs. The low rating is due to a significant lack of communication with Ridge Top, and unfinished work. Sub-contracted crews showed up on-site unannounced or changed their work schedule without notice from Ridge Top. We were informed we did not need to be home on days only outdoor projects would be completed, and yet crews were ringing the doorbell asking for instructions about installation that was not provided to them by Ridge Top (window orientation, down spout locations, etc). This interfered with work-from-home meetings. During siding work, the doorbell circuit was closed by poor nail placement causing it to run continuously. This resulted in both the door bell and transformer to become overheated and melt the bell chime cover inside the house. This was replaced by an electrician in a timely manner. Significant work-site debris was left in the yard, and Ridge Top's project managers shared our alarm at the final walk through. Together, we picked up roofing brackets, pail-full of nails we have collected with our own magnet, trimmed pieces of fascia/soffit/siding, and whole shingles. When we signed with Ridge Top we specifically asked, and were assured, that the new window trim would match the existing size, eliminating the need for additional significant drywall and paint repair. After 2 separate measurement appointments before installation, the finished trim installed on 13 windows was significantly smaller. We raised this concern during installation and at multiple walkthroughs, but it was repeatedly ignored. At the final walkthrough, Ridge Top acknowledged the extensive repairs required to both drywall and painting, and offered to provide compensation if we could get a quote from our own painter. Unfortunately, 2 weeks after the quote was shared with Ridge Top and multiple un-returned phone calls, they reversed this decision citing generic contract terms. This situation would not have been an issue had Ridge Top honored their initial assurance of minimal repairs or addressed the problem promptly. Instead, the lack of transparency and follow-through has resulted in unnecessary additional expenses and frustration.

Our roof received some hail damage back in…read moreApril and Nick came out promptly to inspect and we immediately filed a claim with our insurance. Throughout the claims process there were a few bumps in the road with our insurance company but Nick was there helping walk us through each situation- never leaving us hanging. When it came to installing the new roof, Nick's crew not only did an amazing job but they were very thorough when it came to cleaning up each day. Our neighbors even popped by to comment on what a great job they had done! Our house now had a beautiful new roof but we weren't finished with Doyle Exteriors just yet. The gutters that were on the house originally were gross, outdated and you probably would have had to run them over with a tank to do any sort of damage to them. We decided they had to go and within the last few weeks, we had new gutters installed as well. It's amazing what a fresh roof and gutters can do to a house and none of it would have been possible without Nick and Doyle Exteriors help.
