Rochester NY native; yes, this franchise has spread out quickly. I will note, the company worked with Wegmans when the latter rolled out their sub line. There are some distinct similarities. To this day, I'm surprised DiBella's offered their secrets to Wegmans. Anyway, great location. I ordered my favorite: steak sub. If it's not a steak sub, it's a godfather hands down. Their spicy peppers are fantastic. The bread is made in house and is also wonderful. My only knock on them is they used to make their oil at each location. Now, it comes packed with a seal from Conagra foods and doesn't taste anywhere as good as it used to. It actually ticks me off quite a bit. I'm surprised that they took one of their hallmark items and turned it into trash. Then again, they messed around with some of their side salads years ago and eventually figured it out. Visit. Great location. Awesome food. Give the cheesesteak a try if you want a hot sub. Go for the Godfather if you want cold or toasted. Then, prepare for a nap. read more

I lived on DiBella's subs during my time in Rochester and hadn't had the pleasure of having an old fashioned sub since (over 20 years). When I saw there was a DiBellas near my hotel, I had to stop in. It was as good as I remembered it and absolutely love the everything bread! read more

20 minutes to get a sub. One person in front of me, three behind me. Not super busy at all. They took all the orders, checked everyone out then finally started making subs. Every person behind me got their food first plus 2 GrubHub orders. Meat was slightly charred when I finally got my Chicken Philly. Could see the meat just sitting on the grill while I had to wait. Every table in the place was dirty. I recommend other DiBella locations but not this one. First and last time I'll be here. read more

I often come here when I want to get a great sub sandwich. They have lots of options, and you can have your sub made hot or cold just the way you like it. They always give you generous portions of meats, cheeses and toppings. They bake their breads right onsite, so everything is nice and fresh. I've been here 3 times so far. I've had the following sandwiches: - buffalo chicken w/ blue cheese and provolone on multigrain - DiBella's dip w/ provolone & spicy mustard on sesame - DiBella's cheesesteak w/ swiss and mayo on an everything roll. They were all good quality sandwiches. And I will definitely get the buffalo chicken and cheesesteak again. The roast beef on the dip was a little dry and tough though, so I prolly wouldn't get that one again. The only reason I didn't give this place all the stars is the way the orders are taken here. You have to go up to the counter and wait for a sandwich maker to become available to make your food. The counter is long and has a lot of employees, but there's always a wait for the next sandwich maker to be available. It just seems like an inefficient way of doing things. Chips, macaroni salad, pasta salad, side salads, pickles, and cookies are all available as sides. The macaroni salad is what I've been getting....it's pretty good. The staff here has always been friendly. I also do like the oldies they play over their sound system. And by oldies, I don't mean 1950's and 60's....we're talking 1920's, 30's, and 40's. Out of the few times i have gotten good from dibellas, this will be the last time I ever go here. the food was decent/ good before but has turned very sloppy and they are VERY stingy. I had nothing to eat all day, got out of work and wanted to get Subs got me and my family just to get bread for one of them was very hard/ not fresh. Another was all mush. Veggies were not crisp, no cheese on anything when I asked for it. They didn't make my subs the way I had asked and I don't live nearby so to make the drive out for food that wasn't made correctly and wasn't even fresh was really disappointing. read more

Ate here for lunch today. Very good food, even if the method of ordering is a little odd or dated. I had the grilled Godfather sandwich on a sesame roll. A decent sandwich chain on the traffic filled oasis that is 224. They reopened for dine in which is nice. The bread is decent, but it's a bit pricey for what you get, $12+ for a large tuna sub. The Godfather is a classic Italian hero, but the cold cuts aren't paper thin, like you'd get at a local deli. But again if your stuck in traffic and looking for a quick bite it's not bad. read more

Absolutely loved the subs here! The bread options were great and fresh baked. I ordered the medium Dagwood (turkey, ham, and corned beef). You have a choice to have it grilled, I chose to have mine done that way. It was done to perfection and I topped it off with one of their homemade oatmeal raisin cookies. The only negative comment I have is the ordering process. You give your order at one end of a very long counter and then you are required to remember what you ordered when you pay the cashier. They do not have it on their screen in front of them. So it could be confusing for some. Overall my experience was great and I will return!! read more

I go here pretty much every week! Their sandwiches are all delicious and I highly recommend the godfather. I always get mine on the everything bread which I've heard some people say it's too salty but for me it's great. The staff is however very friendly and service is pretty fast unless you go on a prime lunch hour you might wait for a longer time period. I do think their sides are good however slightly over priced. My least favorite sub (I have tried them all by the way) would be their dibella dip. I think it's pretty bland. This place is way better than other submarine sandwich chains. The portion is big and You get a good amount of meat. A tip would be if you order your sandwich and don't plan on eating it right away you do need to get it cold and not grilled with the mayo,mustard, oil ect on the side or else the bread can get a tad soggy. I will tell you, there were only 2 guys running the sub shop, and they were on top of it!! With so many places short of help, the ones that are working can get burned out and cranky. I ordered a sub with my girlfriend and was treated terribly. The guy who ordered from was easy to quiet I had to ask him atleast 5 times what he said. But that's a whatever what sucks the other guy who checked me out acted rude rushing me and her out. My girlfriend said she needed a minute looking at the menu and he kept asking if she wanted anything else as she was looking then the sub came out with ingredients I didn't want. Used to be my favorite sub place around but the quality and staff have went down hill. The bread is burnt tasting almost all the time now, the sandwich as little taste, and they are quite skimpy on the condiments. Best subs in the world. I just had a godfather and it's delicious. Hot off the grill with DiBellas oil dressing, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. I gave it five stars because I can't give it six. It's like walking into a restaurant from the 1930s. There's swing music playing over the speakers, a tin roof ceiling and the old style tile floor. Been here three times, the last time because we had a buy one/get one free coupon. The service is so so, needs to be more upbeat and friendlier. The system of ordering is flawed and confusing. Letting the customer tell the register operator what they've ordered is too risky. you could say turkey when it's steak, and the register girl would not know as she is given a bag with a number on it if it's grilled and has no idea what's inside. The cookies are terrible, the salads have too much mayo or dressing. the bread is good, but they skimp on meat. don't believe me, order a small Buckeye and then try a 6' club sub at Subway. the amount of meat is almost double at Subway. Their subs (DiBellas)are mostly bread. Cost for what you get is a little too high. Customer service is really bad. they drop your sub on the table, take your plastic number without even a word said, such as "sorry this took so long or enjoy your sandwich." tsk tsk. the place itself is really nice atmosphere wise, but it needs a lot of personnel work. seems like it's owned by someone who doesn't know the food business. Today I ordered the Dibella's dip. The sub maker was very friendly. Asked what I wanted and delivered it. First thing I noticed were the cutting board and prep areas were extremely untidy. I understand how lettuce is here and there from time to time but (I didn't notice it there or I would have said something) there was marinara sauce all over the boards which unfortunately ended up on the bottom of my sandwich. Let's get to the sandwich. Bread was delicious - nice crunch outer shell, soft inner. Great bread. Beef was completely flavorless and the au jus was tasteless - might as well have been brown water. Will not order this again. It left so much to be desired. So disappointed. Pasta salad and cookies were good! Clean the prep area up and add some salt and pepper, at least, to that beef and dip. I'll be back to see what may be good some time in the future. read more

So sad we wasted money here. The service was rude and the food way over priced. 1 small sub 1 med sub two cookies three chips and two small drinks for $28!!! It was not worth it. It was our first and last experience here. We told our sub maker it was our first time and placed our order. Imagine our surprise to learn The subs were not prepared at same time. She fixed my Dip sub as we waited but my sisters phillysteak would be brought out. When we mentioned we had not known that she blew it off saying "it won't be long". It was over 10 minutes. There were no clean tables so we had to wipe one down with our hands as we couldn't locate napkins. When my sisters sub finally arrived it was wrong. She had asked for spicy mustard on side, no onions and extra pickles. She had 4 pickles total, onions and spicy mustard on the sandwich. The line was so long she opted to just eat it. My own sub was not hot and the cold cheese and meat was ok but not the way I prefer a dip sandwich. I like mine got and melted. When they brought my sisters sub we asked for napkins and were brought a messy pile with the advice "next time they are at the register." I assure you there will be no next time. First impressions speak volumes and this place turned me off. Too many places that have better trained friendly employees in this area for me to go here again. read more

The guy who made my sandwich did a good job. He was informative and knowledgeable about the product. The rest of the staff was pretty bad. The cashier was more interested in talking to the other cashier to even ring me out. The place was filthy. There was maybe three other people in the place. As someone who grew up on the East Coast outside of Philly, I was excited when Dibella's opened. My hopes were quickly dashed though by the poor quality of their deli meat. We tried several different types, however the ham, turkey and roast beef were all like eating plastic. The rolls were too thick and very dry.
