Family owned and operated, do yourself a favor... stop here for food! The service was extremely down to earth, welcoming, and friendly. The restaurant itself has a diner vibe, and is very clean. On our way from Indiana to visit our son and DIL in New Jersey, my wife and I stopped at Kravitz Deli for lunch and liked it so much we stopped there again 3 days later on our way back. When we went in, the lady that seated us said their soups were the best. I got the clam chowder along with a pastrami sandwich. Both were great. I love these old time delis and will stop in again! Food is awful . I had sandwiches for me and my aunt usually I pick her up one every year. The first year she complained about the meat corn beef sandwich. Too much gristle . I was excited to try and got the large corned beef and Cole slaw. Cost me over $20. It was not good and not large at all. Cannot compare to Slymans one bit. Slymans corned beef is way tastier and leaner and their large is 3x the size of the Kravitz sandwich. Cole slaw was tasteless. read more

I wish I could leave them 0 star reviews. The food looked great on the reviews. The cooks were working hard, and the manager was very welcoming who greeted us right away. We waited 14 minutes exactly to be "spoken" to. By spoken, I mean I had to speak up to see if we were getting service. My mother said "excuse me" to get her attention. The server greeted us by yelling," I'm not ignoring you, clearly I'm busy with my tables!" That response with the tone of voice, said it all. We had come into town for my step dad's funeral, and yet we were treated with no dignity or respect. As we decided to walk out, server says" I don't even care." Must be nice knowing you missed out on a great tip from my mother who is a server, and myself that's a nurse and a server on the weekends. I worked both of my jobs while pregnant, stressed out, and always treated everyone as if they were family. You give love you get love. Horrible disappointing service. Kravitz is the real deal! This delicatessen experience won't make you forget about a Jewish Brooklyn deli, but it doesn't need to. It's right here in the valley! The ambience is special. Tiny tile adorns the floor, refrigerated meat cases that date back to when your grandparents were dating. The place looks like it was last updated, well, never. I got a Reuben. Wife got a turkey club. The pastrami was tender, salty and fatty (fatty in a good way). Layered generously on perfectly grilled rye bread. I wasn't in love with my potato chips being served to me in a bag on the plate like I was in middle school, but a small complaint overall. I'm originally from the east coast, so that obviously makes me unapologetically arrogant. I've had better pastrami in my life. But I've never had better pastrami in Ohio. Amazing place! Had an extra hour before my business meeting and found this great little Deli in Youngstown. Had a cup of Wedding soup and the best Corned Beef and Swiss sandwich! Service was fantastic, very attentive, kind and friendly. Waitress brought me a small Hungarian dessert pastry called a kipfel. Wonderful! I bought a dozen to take home to Houston. I Ordered a ruben from Kravitz today and it was terrible!!!! there was NO bread, no SAUREKRUT just a blob of meat laying on fries with cheese melted on the blob, if you look on the picture it says SANDWITCH WHICH i always thought of bread. to hold everything together and no KRAUT! I ordered a hot pastrami on a bagel with provolone. I received a bagel with such a small amount of pastrami, a scrambled egg (more egg than meat) and a tiny speck of cheese! I do t plan to return. This delicatessen was so cute! We made a pit stop on our drive since we had seen all the good reviews and didn't want to stop for fast food. The staff was so friendly. We ordered our food and then went outside to wait since we had our dog with us. They actually came outside to say hi to our pup, ask if we needed water and then brought our food out to us. I've definitely been here for Saint Patrick's day dinner where they added the option of a side of cabbage to go with the corned beef. They also have great bagels and matzoh ball soup. Ambiance: Very low-key restaurant that's a little Frankensteined with a bakery up front, diner in the middle and bar in the back. We seated ourselves per the sign and had a waitress within the minute although we were admittedly there at an off hour. We were instantly charmed by the super friendly staff and it was fun hearing the locals talking so familiarly with everyone while we waited. It's the kind of place where you genuinely feel like they're eager to help you have a good experience and everything is done with a smile. Food: My wife had the Vallourec star and I had the Kraut on Fire. Both sandwiches had a great ratio of meat:bread:veges and I was happy to not have to ask for extra sauerkraut for once. The meat was sliced nice and thin, giving each bite a nice tender texture as the layers spread out with savory goodness as you chew. The meat was steam-warmed which keeps everything moist but also means you lack the caramelization of a good roasting. The rye bread was not too herby or overpowering and let the meat truly shine. I was not the fan of the Russian dressing as I'm not a fan of sweet sauces but they served it on the side and the sandwich didn't really need a sauce. The Kraut on Fire which sounded like the spiciest option really had no heat, unless regular pepper jack is a challenge for you. We enjoyed the vallourec the best as the corned beef and pastrami provided a nice contrast to on another. We also got a tea biscuit and two kipfels which were all amazing. They were delightfully buttery and crumbly, flaking and melting in your mouth before giving way to natural fruit fillings. You won't find any artificial, syrupy, or canned flavors. Overall we had a really enjoyable meal. The sandwiches were excellently proportioned and the meats which were made in-house were all top-notch. I would gladly come back just for the pastries alone but what truly sets the place apart is the quality of the staff. It's a place you want to be a regular at and get to be friends with everyone.
