Came here a few days ago and a little after 8pm, they weren't busy. But they were out of brisket, Mac & cheese, Cesar salad & some other stuff. It was my first time here & everytime my boyfriend & I would drive by, they have a long line & we would just turn around. There ice machine that day was not dispensing ice so they had a bucket & a scooper for the ice. The meats were flavor and juicy. I like how they have the sauces on the side by the soda machine. They had original, spicy & sweet sauce. I got the pulled pork and it was so good that I got full after 5 bites. The waffle fries were good and that potato thing, totally forgot what's it called, was actually good but I kinda wish it came with gravy but it's ok. First time here with my family. Place is nice and clean. I like the fact that as a customer, we can see the action from serving, chopping the meats, and even applying rub on the meats and see meats in the store room. We ordered 3 combos of 2 meats that comes with 2 sides and dinner roll. Me and the wife ordered the same thing: pork ribs and brisket while the kids ordered brisket with turkey breast. I wasn't really impressed and to be honest, i thought the portion was too small. If you're hungry, i would not recommend eating here because you'll still be hungry after which is what happened to me and my family. The quality of the brisket and pork ribs was good; it was tasty and tender. I ordered the potato salad and bbq beans as my sides and i liked it. Wife did not like her beans and cream of spinach. My kids seemed to enjoy their sides (fries). I like that there's plenty of table outside. I don't mind paying more for a good size meal. read more

Hubby brought home Dickey's for dinner tonight. This is our first time trying this place. It was okay. We had a little of everything: brisket, chicken, pork belly, pulled pork, and kielbasa. It was a kind of dry by the time he got home. Had to use the included barbeque sauce (very good, btw) to get some moisture. The barbeque beans were bland and the baked potato casserole needed a little more salt. We will be trying again in the future and eating in to see if that makes a difference in the juiciness of the meat since it won't be sitting for a while. read more

Really good customer service, was offered help and guided through on how to order once I entered the restaurant. But the taste is standard, nothing really stood out in flavor. Their brisket was quite moist, but was disappointed that its smoky flavor was not too pronounced. Don't waste your time. Service was absolutely terrible!! Stood in line for over 20 min just to pay with only 2 people in front of me. Don't put someone on the register during a rush if they don't know how to use it. By that time our food was cold and we got the wrong food. Not one person apologized! The manager just stood there and yelled from across the restaurant. Both my husband and i have worked in the restaurant business and can usually understand when it comes to certain things. But when the manager or "owner" as they stated, doesn't move from the same spot to help his employee at the register or come apologize to someone who has a complaint or for the ridiculous wait time, its absolutely unacceptable. If it wasn't for this being a chain and military personnel eating somewhere they recognized, it would be shut down. I had tried this establishment and it's okay. Small area for dining in and the meat portions are small for its cost; you'll have to order more. This place isn't too bad. I haven't come across many BBQ joints on island so I was looking forward to trying this place. It was a mediocre experience and not quite what I was expecting. My husband and I went to order and as the young man was taking our order, who I'm assuming was the manager, started to reprimand him about a prior order. It may have been a disgruntled customer since I saw them processing a refund. But that was an awkward moment as the manager interrupted and tried talking to him on the side while we were ordering. That definitely could've waited. The food wasn't bad, but for some reason our brisket was lukewarm. I don't know if their AC was down because they had large portable metal fan blowing directly towards the dine-in area, which also probably made our food cold. Other than that, it's not too bad. Pretty good. It's a little slow because they are new but being a new customer, it gave me a chance to look things over and decide. I think they forgot the sauce. The meat was good but definitely needed sauce. The baked potato casserole was like flavored mashed potatoes. I thought it was better than mashed potatoes and gravy that chicken places offer. This has been my second time coming here. First was when they opened and I understood the wait on everything and being overwhelmed. This time tho.. I called my order in for a rack of ribs an hour prior and said what time I'd arrive. I walk in and it's a bunch of younger kids staffed. Nobody greets you when you come in. You don't get acknowledged for an order til almost 10 mins of standing there. Maybe once being told "I'll be right with you.." There's two staff members bickering and one replies back with "get the f outta here" which is not appropriate. There's about 5 of them tackling one ticket and just standing around. Finally get asked "what can I get for you" after 15 minutes of just waiting around and said I had a call in order, she tells me okay and I continue to just wait in this line. Then 5 mins after the guy behind me gets asked for help and he also had a call in. The girl tells him to meet her in the front of the line, pays, gets his order, out the door. Here I am.. still standing wondering why I didn't get asked to go to the front of the line to be helped. When I finally do get to the cashier, she asks what did I order and I said pick up for Mary. She rings up my order, I pay, and she just walks away.. doesn't tell me it'll be ready in a few minutes.. doesn't even say at least if she'll be back with my order. So I watch her just walk back and forth on that line and some of them still standing around looking confused. I asked how long will it take for my order. The girl who rings me up says "10 minutes". I'm just confused how much waiting around and not a single ounce of genuine customer service I was getting plus me calling an hour prior to tell me 10 minutes.. I was no longer gonna wait because it was just cringing being in there through all that so I asked for my refund. At this point.. I'm not gonna try for a "3rd times a charm". Just a little advice.. figure a system out and maybe have better management to teach better service. read more

Definitely the best bbq available on-island. As with anything else new on Oahu, expect a pretty long line. Give it a month or sp and I'm sure it will calm down. Came in to buy an XL pack for our new years day party. 2 couples eating in the dining area and nobody behind of me. What 1st annoyed me was the 2 large bbq beans was only half full so I asked her to put more in it, spending $80 on food for it to be filled up half way is not ok. Then when she bagged my order she opened each plate ASSUMING she was double checking it as she was putting it in. Get home ready to serve my guests only to find out that the food I had in my bag wasnt even mine! I called the store upset and the girl that answers told me "yea it's in the warmer you gonna come get it". I understand people make mistakes. Drive back down to dickeys to get my CORRECT order and the girl tells me that I took the wrong bag.. but how do you take the wrong bag when there was only 1 damn bag and she gave it to me! I asked to speak to a manager, NO manager on duty.. The girl ends up calling the manager she explains the situation in the back then gives me the phone I begin to explain my frustration and the manager tells me well I was told that you took the wrong bag, THERE WAS ONLY 1 BAG & the dickeys girl gave me the damn bag.. he says let me talk to her and then she hangs up with him. No sorry, no nothing! SAD THAT A MANAGER WONT EVEN LISTEN TO A CUSTOMERS CONCERNS. I will never dine here again! If I could give it 0 stars I would have done that instead! read more

Was really glad that a TX BBQ place was coming, and just down the hill from my house. Very disappointed after 4 visits. I know it takes time to get a new place up and running...but its been a couple months now and no improvement. The ice machine has been broken for over a month..so you have to scoop ice from a bucket on the counter...the ice is mostly melted. The BBQ, pickles and other items are on a counter next to the soda machine. BBQ is all over everything....you have to scoop it yourself. As we sat outside next to the machine, we saw several workers walk over, look at it and turn back to the kitchen...never cleaning up. The spoons are just loose in a container...unwrapped...so someones little child can manhandle them all. Thankfully the forks were individually wrapped! I ordered the fried okra...which I asked to be crispy from previous visits...nope! Still raw. The brisket was cold. Sausage was good..but not warm either. The potato salad was good as well as the baked beans. There were tons of workers so no excuse for the poor appearance of this place. Although one worker and his family were eating on the lanai and two were on the far side of the building smoking when we pulled up. Can't get over the fact that the ice machine is still not working. This place will not make it if they don't shape up and get some type of management to oversee the place. No plans to return. I'll go to Dixie house for the same money...and warm food. read more

Not the greatest of BBQ when it's cold, and I mean cold not even warm. If it was warm then it would be great or even hot. So u only get 3 stars. Plus only place I know that dont have bake beans , until I seen it poured onto the cup. Who doesn't place bake beans for a BBQ joint on the menu. I'll start out by saying that I lived in Texas, and have had real BBQ many times, including from this franchise. We went today (my birthday treat) to get some brisket sandwiches and sides. The food was not as great as I had wished for, but I am hoping maybe its just new business quirks. The brisket was a little dry but no doubt some BBQ sauce would have fixed that right up, although I didn't see any out to use. One of our sandwiches had about half of the meat that was just the fat from the brisket. I know that is to be expected from brisket, but this was a really big chunk of what was in the sandwich. The service wasn't all too great either, from the person at the register, but she looked a little nervous and seemed as though this was a totally new job for her, maybe even her 1st. I will say the ice tea was to my liking, and if you know anything about tea and folks that have been to Texas, we are real particular about that. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and try it again. Hopefully I will have a better experience, because I really, REALLY want good Texas style BBQ here in Hawaii. read more

The resturant has only been open for 3 days, so service was slow as expected. A lot of people in the back of the serving area were just standing around joking with each other and not helping. The guy chopping the meat was dripping sweat and was scared it might get on our food. The same thing with the guy buttering the rolls, his beard was getting real close to touching the food. Brisket is good just like the one i visited in california, hopefully with time this place will get their processes together. No free soft serve machine like the ones in the states and no fried foods yet. read more

My husband & I wanted to try this place as it certainly looks good on the web page... & that's about it.. first- as per typical chains that come to Hawaii- they decide to try & cut costs anywhere they can since it's more expensive here- & that's what they did in the portion sizes- quite underwhelming & not what you see on the page. I had the 1 meat plate with the sliced brisket- it was about 2.5 thin slices of brisket- maybe 7 oz at the most. It was also dry & salty. Had to use both containers of sauce to wet it. My husband had the 2 meat plate with chopped brisket & pulled pork. Again- underwhelming on portion size. The brisket was a little more moist than mine, & the pork was decent. Sides were small & decent tasting. I don't think we will waste another $26 here for measly sized portions of dry meat. I see from other reviews here that we aren't the only ones who think the meat is over priced, over cooked & under sized. Will try Bob's next time. read more

Went there Saturday morning to get the Beef ribs (not very common anymore in HI) as they only make them on Saturdays. Do not bother!! Meat contained an excessive amount of fat-0bviously had not been trimmed! Also had not been slow-cooked properly for a good bbq as it was very tough, and largely gristle besides the fat when compared to the actual meat proportion. Therefore the price for the experience was way out of line high! Added a order of beef brisket because it looked good and it was very tender, but too salty to enjoy. Will return to try the pork-which have been told is better, but avoid their "dinosaur" ribs! Also, best to call ahead if you know what you want as they are very slow and not adept at serving in a hurry-many folks appear to be serving but not very organized and only one cashier. The manager should talk to Pieology about how to organize as that place does it much better with a way more complicated menu and product to put out. read more

We have always enjoyed Dickey's on the mainland (in three different states) so we were excited when we found one on Oahu. We have tried them twice and both times have been disappointed. The first visit did not go well, the food was ok, but the service was poor. We figured it was worth another chance so we went back. The second time was much worse than the first. We were the only people in line and the staff was busy preparing to-go orders. That is understandable, but we should have at least been acknowledged in the first few minutes we were standing there. I know we were seen, the girl behind the counter looked straight up at us. When we ordered, they gave us our food minus the waffle fries and we were told they would bring them out. We noticed two other people who had come in after us had gotten fries so my husband went and asked about them. After an apology and another wait, he finally got the fries after he was done with the rest of the meal. We know things happen, and we would not have been as upset if not for the big guy in the back cussing and throwing the "F" bomb around the entire time we were in the restaurant. No matter how upset he was, it isn't appropriate for the guests to hear things like that coming from the kitchen. read more

First of all, I'm not crazy about this place. The buns and the ice are the best thing they offer. The meat is fatty and needs more flavor. The sides are very salty or spicy or fried and have no flavor. It's a bummer. The sweet sauce still has a little spice...so nothing truly sweet. I've been to a few different locations in Florida, and these tastes don't line up. The waiting line is atrocious. I feel bad waiting in line and just staring at the people behind the counter. I think they should just take the dang orders and bring them to the tables so the line moves muuuuch better. Also, the containers set at the device station to put the condiments in are so cheap that the lids are nearly impossible to get on without the dang things collapsing underneath the pressure. I think installing some screens outside would be a wise choice to make. Sitting out at night, with all the food and all the lights brigs a lot of flying bugs. What I was pretty certain were flying roaches, which I know aren't the owners fault, but roll down screen would keep things like that out of peoples food. The bathrooms were clean, which was a wonderful and pleasant surprise for as busy as they always are. I ordered the turkey the third time I went (my husband like this place and it took him three times to realize it's not that great) the turkey was so processed and waterlogged, it was like thick lunch meat. It too our order extra extra long to be prepared and I'm sure it was from the lady who ordered the random ass turkey. We waited in line for over thirty minutes, and this was with the line not even by the door when we walked in. Which is something we wouldn't do even for Disneyland. Just walk away and come back later....or not at all. read more

We are Kamaaina's having lived in San Antonio we were ecstatic for Dickey's arrival to Kapolei. Since opening here wife and I have visited maybe forty times averaging $50 and $15-$18 tip. Sadly the standard from the Grand Opening was short lived. Over 50% of our orders were problematic e.g. too small, too dry, too much fat, and too many errors on the receipts. My last visit was about three weeks ago in person. I clearly and simply ordered two 2 meat plates with the same two sides. Each plate was for an order of ribs, polish sausage, potato casserole, and green beans. Once back at home we found they gave us super spicy jalapeno sausage which we did not ask for. I called ahead and next day returned from Ewa Beach with the uneaten two orders of jalapeno sausage and they had me explain again why. Finally, they replaced with the non-jalapeno sausage. When I got home I found only one sausage order in the carton. I called again and some guy took my name down for the manager with an agreement to give me the missing order. I even asked him to please say my name and he did. Next day after waiting for about 20 minutes that same guy mumbled something to the manager and the manager asked me what was the problem? Again, I politely explained what had happened. He said that my name was not on the list which was humiliating in front of the customers. Me, a regular good tipping customer now being interrogated as if I was there to scam an order of sausage. Unfortunately my frustration gave in once he said that he would do it this time only? I am not one to normally make a scene and so I said "Just forget it" and walked out again cutting my loss at this place. Sadly, they behave unprofessionally. Seems they see paying customers as a bother. Beware of those sneers and mumbles in the background and check your orders good before leaving. We won't be back. read more

I have called this location 10:30 AM (Hawaii Standard Time) to find out where they are located. The phone was kept ring and ring, ring, and ring and ring NOBODY ANSWERS. Then I have tried again at 10:45 AM same thing, then I called at 11:00 AM same thing. It had took me 45 minutes to find this establishment. Wouldn't you think workers would be at work at a certain time to prepare things before the store opens? And wouldn't you think at least someone would answer the business phone? I have showed up at approximately 11:05 AM (Hawaii Standard Time) and LORD BE HOLD JESUS THERE WAS WORKERS THAT WAS WORKING. With all those workers there you mean NO ONE COULD ANSWER THE PHONE? That is UNBELIEVABLE ....The number I have called several times (808) 674-2271. I can not believe it. There were 3 of us and I had refused to eat the RIBS because it looked like it wasn't cooked, it was so red I was ready to vomit. The Brazed Beef was very greasy it make my stomach turn. And I can not believe that they have people standing in line looking over at other peoples food and watch them eat that is another MINUS. The establishment is small there is hardly a place to sit and enjoy your food and having this place hidden in a corner of a building don't know how people actually find this place.
