I loved & appreciated that this restaurant was open on 4th of July! I love Korean food & the fact that they had more veggie options as well! I got the Kalbi & meat jun plate with no rice so I had the option of having 5 side choices. Score! Of course I got all veggies, some are hidden beneath the meat jun in my photo. Bean sprouts, kimchi, cucumbers, radish, greens - I think it was Choy sum. All were onoliscious! And an additional 2 fried mandoo, score! They have more veggie options than another Korean bbq place I go to. Great choices for those on low carb, Keto, watching their blood sugar or diet, or diabetic. As you can see from my photo, to me, the portions for the meat jun and kalbi were a lot & good for me. This was a lot of food for just me. The short ribs were the standout of the meal. They were flavorful, juicy, and cooked to perfection so they were tender without being overdone. Each piece had a rich, savory taste that made it easy to keep going back for more. The sides were amazing, especially the glass noodles (long rice), which had a lot of flavor. Honestly I really loved this place and the casual takeout KBBQ style brought back nostalgia. The prices were very fair for the amount of food they gave being between 15-20 bucks a plate. My family tried the kalbi, meat jun, mondoo, barbecue chicken and chicken katsu. The chicken katsu was over fried but the rest of the dishes were delicious! All of the sides were very good too. The glass noodles, kimchi cucumber, wakame seaweed, choy sum, and potatoes were so good. The service was good-quick and efficient. I saw it sitting on the counter. However, I ordered ahead so I didn't have to stand in line. Or so I thought. They should indicate where to stand if you have a phone order. Came here cause Gina's is closed on a Monday. This takeout place has some tables to sit on but one side of the tables and chairs were all occupied with boxes and supplies. I came here surprised with how tasty the meat Jun was. The spicy pork was also flavorful but I was disappointed they don't wrap it in foil since all the spicy pork sauce went into my meat Jun and my potato. I asked for no rice and got 5 sides with my combo plate. The banchan were good but nothing special. The wait was over 15 minutes for my food, so I was starving waiting. A phone order was taken right before me so I had to wait for the phone order before I got mine even though I ate inside and was waiting. Overall, I'd come back and would eat here again. Small dining room, very clean and well lit. My favorite is the prepared cabbage Bun Chong. In my opinion the best on the island. Food is expertly prepared and delicious. I've been coming here for years, but on my most recent trip I think I'm going to be calling it quits. The food quality has unfortunately gone down and is not as tasty as it has been on previous trips. I think what completely turned me off during this last visit was the service. I ordered my food and as I was waiting, there were three ladies in the front talking story and eating. The eating or the talking story didn't bother me, but it did feel a little like a free for all or pot luck instead of a place of business. But again didn't bother me even if it was a little unprofessional. The icing on the cake and why I won't be returning is that during this employee pot luck I noticed one of the girls put more rice on her plate that she was already eating off of. And yes this is the same spoon used to then put rice on another customer's plate lunch. The spoon was not changed. This is not only unsanitary it was probably breaking some health code violations. If she had simply gotten herself some rice and placed it on a clean plate and not the one she was already eating off of or even just changed out the spoon instead of reusing it I probably wouldn't be writing this review. But if they have no problem doing that in front of me it does make me question if they are doing that sort of thing all the time. I don't like to question the cleanliness of where I am eating and unfortunately the actions of that employee made me question just that and as a result I won't be returning. read more

We both ate all of our orders. The prices are less than in Mililani. Although the mandoo soup was a bit salty, it satisfied my need for hot soup. It was temperature hot which I appreciated. The mandoo dumplings were generous. I kept finding more in the bowl and didn't break apart. The noodles were cooked perfectly too. I'm pretty picky about some veggies in my food but I ate it all here. Good to know that this place is here. Located in Kapolei Marketplace, if you're facing Safeway, it'll be in the far left, at the corner of the shopping center. If you drive past BedMart, UPS Store, and Koa Pancake House, then you're headed in the right direction. The parking lot can get crowded near that area, but sometimes you could score parking with the right timing. If my family and I were Yelpers more than a decade ago, we would've been Dukes and Duchesses at this Korean BBQ place. This was me and my siblings' favorite Korean restaurant growing up, and we believe that no other place can compare to their meat jun! We love that they make their meat jun thinly sliced, lightly battered, and fried perfectly. It's so good with their dipping sauce (just fyi, it's not just shoyu). I've taken a few friends here to try their meat jun, but since they grew up eating "thick" meat jun from another Korean BBQ place in Wahiawa, it didn't leave much of an impression on them. I guess it just depends on everyone's individual preference. Anyway, since meat jun is exclusively a Hawaii delicacy, my family and I continue to always suggest it to our out-of-town visitors. Besides their meat jun, the other plate lunches we like are the BBQ chicken, bulgogi, kalbi, and fish jun. Also, there's a variety of sides to choose from. If you get the regular then you can pick 4 sides, and if you get the mini then you get to pick 2 sides. Our family favorites are the kimchi, cucumber kimchi, japchae, choi sum, and seaweed. My personal favorite is the cabbage and potato salad, while my sister prefers the corn and macaroni salad. Also, just a heads up that if you want to order a pan of meat jun for a party, then you need to order at least a day or two in advance so that they can make sure they have enough ingredients to fulfill your meat jun order. If you try to order the party pan the day of, then they won't take your order. Not so sure if it's the same with the other party pans (because we would always get the meat jun), but just to be safe, order a few days in advance. We always have a good experience here and the staff is always friendly to us. It's good for groups with a party of 2-4, or up to 8 people if you get the tables in the middle. I don't come here as often as I did before because I've been "trying" to limit how much I eat out, and also because my parents are not the ones paying anymore (just kidding...nah, half kidding lol). But I came here today because it was my mom's treat! Haha. I will come on occasion when I want to eat their meat jun, and especially when my siblings come down to visit from the mainland. Tried this place out because someone on instagram claimed that the meat Jhun was better than Young's Kalbee. So I had to try it out. And verdict is not true. Far from it. Young's is my GO TO of for their meat Jhun/chicken Katsu combo. Price is just as pricey but flavor isn't there. Bbq chicken had some flavor but it was dry. As for the bon chan, seaweed wasn't as juicy, but the creamy potatoes were really good. Meat jhun just tasted like unseasoned meat w eggs. Seoul fries were the most decent price IMO at about $11 ish dollars. And it was tasty. It was kinda sweet w the sauce but the lunches and fries balanced it out. As for the environment, parking is hard in this poorly designed parking lot and I felt I had to wait a little longer than the fair amount for my food even when there was just one family dining in there but in all fairness, I had ordered 3 plates. read more

I am a fan of Meat Jhun and Mandoo - simple tastes - when it comes to Korean cuisine. So I had to order both as I could with the Combo Plate. Went with a mini and still got a good portion. You get two sides with a mini; four sides with a regular plate order. Meat Jhun was a bit eggy...bit more than I prefer. Well cooked. It was okay. Mandoo was also a bit disappointing; could have been a little better seasoned. Next time...I think Bulgogi will be on my mind and plate. Kim chi will be one of my sides. Service was quick. I went in an hour before closing time, but what I didn't know was that they were closing 1 hour earlier because they were short-staffed. Initially he wasn't going to take my order, but after confirming with the kitchen staff he did. I ordered the spicy pork and meat Jun mixed plate and my food was ready within 10 minutes! With that quick service, I was surprised that the food came out delicious. Best spicy pork I have eaten in my life! Pork was still juicy and lots of spices. The pork was definitely marinated in the spices prior to cooking versus some places where they cook the pork and then add the spices after. The meat Jun was juicy and tasty as well. On a recent holoholo, we planned on hitting one of my favorite BYOF breweries and we needed great takeout. Being in the area, I researched a few places and came up with Kapolei Korean BBQ. I'm really thankful we got it, I just wish it was closer! It's located at the end of the shopping center, plenty of free parking nearby. The restaurant is still on only take-out; they have tables but dine-in is not allowed. It was BUSY on a Saturday evening. Walk-ins kept coming with the phone ringing off the hook. It seemed the draw was the combo packs and the family meal; a huge amount of food for a great price. We ordered a steak plate and a steak/chicken combo. The regular came with 4 sides, the small with 2; both were too much food for one person! All the side choices were fresh were more constantly prepared. The meat quality and flavor were well worth the price. The prep time wasn't fast, but we were happy to wait. The staff was mostly friendly but didn't have time to deal with impatience of some customers, which was understandable. Im all about supporting small business and this is a small Mom and Pop ran restaurant. I ordered Meat Jun and Mandoo Combo Plate and the kids ordered mini Bento. Food came out fast. But my excitement turned to disappointment. Meat Jun was very dry and bland, mandoo was super greasy. I really think that they were pre made. I had the kalbi & meat Jun plate and it was enough to feed 4 of us. Two meaty strips of kalbi short rib is well seasoned throughout with a nice char from a hot grill. Two flavorful pieces of meat Jun is served with a homemade sauce. Served with white rice and a variety of banchan to overflow your plate lunch. I highly recommend the potato side as one of your choices. All of it was tasty and filling. In a very competitive market of Asian food, this quick serve restaurant is worth a visit. Not much seating in this counter service restaurant, but definitely has a loyal following of locals. Weekday lunch was a brisk flow of customers with most plates taken on the go. I love korean food and this is my go-to korean food in kapolei. Ive never ordered from the cater menu because i normally just come here for lunch with my co workers. I had a potluck to go to and decided to order meat jun from here because its my favorite item on the menu. I was very surprised when i opened the pan. It was nicely placed in the pan. The tofu soup was disappointing with a small piece of meat. The portions for the meat jun and chicken Katsu was small portions... and it was a regular plate, not mini. Bi Bim Bap is really worth paying single digit price, with fresh, crispy veggies, tender strips of beef and easy over egg. What I love about bi bim bap are subtle hints of sesame seed oil and easy over egg calms spiciness of kochujang sauce. Meat jun batter held on well to the tender beef; however, individual pieces tasted oily. Similar to fresh from the fryer and oil wasn't drained in colander or on paper towel. Workers appear to be friendly and personable to customers from observing positive interactions in arriving, ordering food and beverages, including exiting the establishment.
