The entire restaurant was a mess -- dirty tables, sticky, garbage on tables; drink area had not been cleaned in weeks; overflowing garbage cans, etc. There were no other customers in the restaurant when we entered and the crew was just standing around...no gloves, etc. They did not wash their hands but just pulled on gloves . Pulled pork sandwiches were okay -- bread could be a whole lot better. Fries were hot and tasty but way over-seasoned. We have enjoyed Dickey's full service restaurants elsewhere in the past. We were pretty disappointed in this fast food version. read more

This place is a lot of things, it is not high end yet the food is tasty, it is always hot in here and you walk out smelling like BBQ but the food is tasty. It is good not great, it is consistent but not amazing. My biggest complaint is that both soap dispensers was out of soap and that is a problem when you have BBQ! read more

Oh how I've missed you, Dickey's. I get to add another Big Yella Cup to my collection! They have wings now. And baked taters. I ordered the Giant Baker, a potato with meat, onion, cheese, butter, and sour cream. I ordered mine with brisket and no sour cream. Yummy. And giant. I couldn't even finish it. First time ever in a Dickey's. Exploring in Rock Springs WY and wandered in. The kids attending the place were polite but not super interested in impressing the "old couple"- we were the only customers in there at the time. We stumbled through our order and the kids put it together pretty quickly. Picked a table and got our self-serve drinks. First impression upon sitting down, was how hot it was in there; I considered asking if we could open a door, but the kids kinda disappeared from the front while we were sitting there eating. It was quiet and peaceful while we ate. Hot. But peaceful. I ordered the half rack of ribs and potato salad. He had the two meat plate: brisket, sausage, beans and mac n cheese. We liked it. They have a roll of paper towels on each table for napkins. Our table unfortunately had a roll of brown bathroom towels but hey, I was eating ribs so whatever. It woulda been cool if they offered some kind of wet napkins for rib orders.....between the sauces and those brown paper towels type things I was getting fairly messy. When we arrived, we were the only customers there; when we left, there were 5 or 6. So I guess the kids got busier. It was probably good for them. When we move here, I can see stopping for an order on the way home....but you can bet I'll be checking through the bag before I leave. read more

Gotta do what you gotta do but I went online to see what was good to eat in the area and this place was highly recommended and when I went online, I read come and get your Thanksgiving feast. I saw brisket sandwich I was like OK yeah gotta try it out but when I got there, I was sad to see dim the lights empty parking lot and closed doors so I'm not gonna knock the place because I can't speak on its service or food. Service was prompt, so prompt that I was caught of guard, so I ask the help what their favorite was...they did and I was extremely satisfied. What a disappointing experience!! We spent one evening in Rock Springs, Wyoming. We were not that hungry, but our friend wanted some ribs. So he brought us to Dickey's Barbecue Pit. I've been to this chain restaurant a couple of times in the past at other locations, and there had never been any issues. This Dickey's was an exception. We did not dine in. We had the drive-thru experience. There was only one car ahead of us so we figured it should be quick. This turned out not to be the case. We waited almost 30 minutes at the drive-thru for 12 pieces of Fall Off the Bone Ribs!! There was only 1 car ahead of us so why the long wait?? Turns out that the gentleman in the car ahead of us ordered several bags of food. Why didn't the staff have the gentleman pull his car over to a parking spot to wait for his order? They should have done that so the customers behind him waiting in their vehicles could receive their little orders too. NOT good customer service!! Sheesh, we only ordered 12 pieces of Ribs. Well, guess what.....turns out they got our order wrong!! They did not give us 12 pieces of Fall Off the Bone Ribs. They only gave us 6 pieces!! What the heck!! The 6 pieces were not hot and fresh either. Tasted decent, but absolutely not worth the loooooong wait and price. Please recommend your staff to be more careful with the orders to make sure they are accurate. Also, for those large drive-thru orders.....Please have the customer park at a designated parking spot to wait for their order to be given to them. It is not fair to the customers waiting so long behind them. Other restaurants provide this service. Why not you? read more

Ordered catering for my grandson's birthday party. Was set to pick up at 5 p.m. and it wasn't ready to go when we got there. The meat had no flavor, the Mac and cheese tasted gross, the beans we horrid. The only positive was the fried okra. These people have obviously never had "real" pit smoked BBQ. Lots of negative comments and I am sure they are warranted, but my experience was very positive. I saw the sign for Dickey's about 10-15 miles down the road and from that point, bbq was in my mouth. I ordered the two meat with jalapeño beans and okra (). Most of the food was prepared early and wrapped for future sales due to COVID-19 (or so it appeared), but they fried the okra up on the spot. It turned out hot and crispy, so nice. The waitress was very nice and the cashier even nicer; very helpful. Dickey's offers a military discount, but if you check in, you get $2 off a purchase of $10 or more, which proved to be better in my case. The brisket didn't have that freshly cooked taste, but given the situation, I suppose its what we have to deal with. With exception to the okra, all of the food had that slightly not as fresh taste. Absolutely horrible. I come from Texas and naturally have high expectations for bbq, so I opted for the chicken wings to avoid disappointment. To my surprise, they were horrible. Wow, this franchise owner has really dialed it in. No professional manager is on duty here; only a group of four high school boys. I have to hand it to the owner though, they were friendly and honest when we asked questions about the food. However no one was actually managing the restaurant. They ran out of the special (chicken breast) at 6:15 PM. The meat is premade and not even warm. Fried sides are dropped in the frier but come out dark, which makes me wonder how often the oil is changed. The green beans were kind of lukewarm and the potato salad was tasty; a mustard style with some tang. When we asked for Texas toast, as the platter specifies, we were warned that it might come out burnt and that the boys would recommend the dinner roll instead. It was also cold with a slightly melted butter patty placed on top, stale as well. The iced tea, both sweet and unsweet were nearly empty and I doubt that I could fill the large cup from one dispenser alone. I mixed them to dilute the sweetness. I saw later customers tilting the dispensers forward to try and get the dregs that they paid for. There is a soft serve ice cream dispenser sitting on the counter but it is out of service, apparently on purpose. So don't count on getting the complimentary soft serve ice cream dessert at this Dickies. BBQ sauces are standard Dickies and tasty. The building decor is rustic but tired, worn, torn, and dirty. Layout is not very functional; the order counter is too high for anyone under 5'-10" tall and they have the iced tea dispensers jammed right next to the cashier's station at 90 degrees, interfering with customer space (the ice cream dispenser & cone stand should have been removed and the tea dispensers moved over to that place). Table covers look like they were installed around 20 years ago based upon their worn and torn condition. So be warned and if your experience is better than mine then you will be pleasantly surprised. read more

This was our first visit as we were driving cross country . All we can say is it was absolutely delicious and wish we had this in New England where we live! Wow. Where to start... My husband & I are from the south & I'm sure it goes without saying we both miss/love bbq. We came in for lunch, while on the road, excited to have a tasty treat. We weren't welcomed, all employees congregated & talking in the back, no one had masks on, the only person with food handling gloves on also checked us out with those same gloves on.. wonder how many people he checked out before us.... The fry guy in the back was seen multiple times snacking (no gloves) & wiping his dirty fingers on his dirty shirt. The fries came out way over salted. He also finished two peoples fry orders before mine that had ordered after me. Not a problem because I understand some orders take faster than others but he kept asking for my order to be repeated. It was just one Cajun fry & a side okra. Also, tried to order a baked potato & was told they weren't prepped that day, so none were available... Place was dirty dirty dirty. We had to ask for containers to put the bbq sauce in. The bbq sauce containers were dirty & lids apparently mix-matched. When I poured what I thought was regular bbq sauce on my sandwich & it was SWEET bbq sauce. Couldn't finish it. No paper towels or napkins available. A lady came by to "clean" the area & still didn't replace the empty paper towel holder. OH & Lord have mercy, I keep thinking about more things. Ice machine wasn't working or maybe hadn't been filled? As we were leaving, my husband went to use the restroom & walked out super grossed out. We were here from Memphis and ordered two lbs of brisket. It was wonderful - smoked with a great flavor! I was surprised it had very little fat because most brisket does. From a family that eats a lot of brisket, it was sooooo good! Something that we noticed in Rock Springs was everyone was so nice and helpful including the staff at Dickey's! I really can't understand all the positive reviews for this fast food, fat coagulated pit, over cooked and stale chain restaurant. Desperate for something other than McDonalds or Subway in the long drive through wyoming, we had high hopes for the 5 stars that Dickeys BBQ proffered. I'm not going to go into the details of the rude staff, sticky tables, stale meats or toppings. The staff was patient and quick to get us all our food. Great portion sizes and a clean environment to eat in. Not to mention the food was fantastic as always. Dickey's was our mid-roadtrip dinner stop. My dad and I are great BBQ fans, and we figured if anyone knew how to do it, it's Wyoming -- We were right. The place was jammed, so the line dragged a bit - then we noticed they even had a drive-thru going. It was well worth the wait. My dad said his rib platter may well have been the best barbecue he's ever had (and he makes killer ribs himself), and my chicken was the most tender I have ever tasted. I am use to Dickey's in Texas where it all began. I have had 3 very bad experiences here, but I will NOT go into only one of them because I do not like to just bash people. Overall: I will say: 1) They don't value the customers. 2) Servers and cooks all seem to have very strong bad attitudes. 3) All of the employees totally ignored me, the customer. On my very first experience: After leaving out the door and realizing that my purse was inside hanging on the chair and turning to go back in, they didn't let the door hit our backs before locking. We went in as a large group. The lady cleaning tables would NOT look up even while I banging on windows for at least 5 minutes, then ended banging on the drive-in when they were right in the other side of the window and flat refusing to look up. The staff was so understanding and helpful, they got my order done within minutes and I was able to get the meal delivered within the necessary time frame.
