They wanted to charge me $20 to use the simulator for thirty minutes to test the drivers, but would refund the money if I bought one...no problem, that makes sense. Then it goes downhill. I get there is a shortage of workers but to look me in my face and walk off knowingly seeing I needed assistance is unacceptable! I finally get the attention of the associate I was needing the soccer cleats. He went to get them walked off and I opened the box and Bam! Two left cleats. Like how hard is it to check. Then I had to wait longer for another associate to help me. The store is setup where it's easy to search for items, but if you need help that's going to be far and few. The prices are moderate. Back to school shoe shopping took me to Dick's this weekend. I head here often for various things for my boys and almost always find exactly what I need. I am a fan of Dick's for many reasons. The layout of the store is great, you can easily find what you need. It's clean (sounds like a simple thing but really this store is always so clean, even the bathrooms). The staff is friendly and they have a lot of inventory. They sell sporting goods, athletic apparel, athletic shoes and hunting gear. They also have a lot of great seasonal items (outdoor camping and fishing gear in the summer). This is my go to place for my boys sports equipment and apparel. I love the ladies department they offer great brands- North End, Life is Good, Under Armour, Nike etc. The shoe department is great and my reason for visiting this weekend. They have a shoe replacement program that you can buy. It's like a guarantee policy- if you shoes tear or have any problems in the first year they replace them. It actually works, I tried it and it's a great plan. You can also save money by joining their frequent shopping club and there are coupons in the Entertainment Book. One bonus is the mini track around the shoe department. The idea is you try on your shoes and "test drive" them on the track. It kept my three boys entertained while their brothers tried on shoes, perfect! read more

My son needed a new backpack for school, and if you don't know how kids are about their school gear, let me tell ya. They are picky! I figured he would be able to find something at Walmart or Target, but when I suggested those places I was given this "look" that clearly indicated he wouldn't be caught dead with an uncool backpack from Walmart. So alas, I took him to Dick's Sporting Goods, home of the "cool" backpack. I will have to say, they did have a great selection of name brand packs like Nike, Adidas, The North Face, Jan Sport and my son's pick: Under Armour. The prices seemed reasonable. My son's back was $60. But they ranged anywhere from about $30 to well over $100. We were in a bit of a hurry, so I didn't have time to really browse around. But I noticed a good selection of ladies sportswear, and I plan to go back and shop for some running clothes soon. read more

TO TOMMY THE STORE MANAGER... AND TO CHAD WILSON THE REGIONAL MANAGER This place has VERY POOR customer service. I went to the store today to buy a weight bench and was disappointed with the lack of selection that they had. So I had questions but there was no one that could assist me. On my way up to the checkout I passed two employees who never acknowledged me and quickly walked past me. Once at the checkout I asked a female who could I talk with to see about ordering something... and she politely directed me to return to the back of the store again to a Green Kiosk and told me that someone will help me and let me know what I can and cannot have shipped. While back at the Kiosk there was no employees. And the machine asked for a employee sign on and to enter a number. One employee did come into the department that I was in, looked at me, did not acknowledge me, and went in about his way. The bottom line is this... no one cares... no one acknowledges the customer... I should not have to beg for help. On my way to the front to exit the store, there were two employees having a personal conversation about whatever but not about work!!! You are there to assist the customer. DO YOUR JOB!!! I'm sure nothing will be done and it will be business as usual at Dicks. But FYI I am going to make sure I escalate this as far as I can. I'm tried of dealing with businesses that hire lazy people who are only there to collect a check and not service me the customer. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE!!! read more

People honestly need to calm down about getting help by employees or not having eye contact when walking by them in the store- I couldn't imaging being forced to be nice to every customer... it's 2023 let's be realistic people..... not saying these people need to get paid more money but why work hard when it's only 9-10 bucks an hour and they obviously hate their life ..... grow up folks - get your stuff get the size you need and get out - these are just baby sitting jobs for minimum wage employees people quit expecting something from $10 an hour employees this isn't the 90s anymore. I went there to buy a frame for my wife's kickboxing bag. I asked the guy about the one they had with the speed bag in the back. He said it comes as a set. I told him I only wanted the frame. He said we sell this as a set. I said do you have just the frame? He said yes they are in the back. I asked how much are they? He said he would go check? So he comes back with the price.$99.00. One of his co workers or buddies comes up to him and says "hey walk up front with me." He says "hold on a second". Looks back at me as if I really don't want to ask this but hurry up anyway. "You want this?" I said no. Went to my truck and drove to Academy. Walked in. Saw the rack just like the one at Dicks. An employee walks up to me and asks it I needed some help. I said I want a rack like this (it was more expensive than Dicks I think.). The guy says ok I'll be right back. While i am waiting I select a speed bag to go on the frame. A couple minutes later I follow him to the cash register with the frame and out to my truck. $164.00 and I am on my way. LAME! More employees than customers in the store. I saw 6 employees. 3 customers including me. I had to go back up to check-out to get someone to help me. He gave me some half-directions to two different places in the store he thought the item might be. While I was struggling to find the item, (which I never did) I had 4 different employees walk close to me. All avoided eye contact and walk away like it might be 2 minutes to shift-change or something. I'll spend my money somewhere else. read more

I am a fan of this place and recommend it for quite a few things, but not all. My wife and I came here not too long ago to check on some pricing for some hunting equipment. Had to try and get some good deals on after hunting season sales. Well, unfortunately they were out of the hunting stand that I wanted yet still had it on display with a sale price on it. As it was a good deal I was of course interested. After inquiring about it and finding out they were out of stock, had no idea if they would get any more and I could not get a rain check for that price, I was left wondering why they didn't bother to at least take off the sale tag and write on it that they were out of stock. Common sense in my opinion. Oh well, they were at least polite but could have done better on that account. On the other hand, I was very impressed with the young man that was working in the bicycle area. As we continued to look around the store we noticed they were having a really good sale on mountain bikes and cruisers. As I was in the market for a cruiser for my wife and a mountain bike for myself, we started looking around. Well, we ended up leaving that night with two bikes, perfectly tuned by the man that gave us great customer service in that department. He was very helpful, answered all our questions and actually led me to a more inexpensive (due to being over 50% off) bike than what I was originally looking to buy. Great customer service equals return patronage. I doubt I will go there for any hunting supplies as every time I am there I can't get any help in that department, but bikes, clothing, shoes...yea, I'll be back. read more

I went in looking for golf shoes. I had browsed for about 10 minutes and then I stood there for another 5 minutes and no assistance. I walked around half the store to see if I could find someone to assist me. There were no employees in site other than the security guard and a clerk at the register. I pushed the button for assistance at the golf counter and another 3 minutes went by with nothing. I went to the register and stood in line at ask for assistance. 4 minutes later some finally came up and said what they had on display was all the shoes they had. Let me start by saying that I LIKE this store and shop there quite frequently! I have to give the store two stars because of the company that does their installations for them, SELECT EXPRESS. Select Express is TERRIBLE!!!!! I bought a goal from this store and paid the install price and that is where the good experience ends. This goal was bought BEFORE Thanksgiving and I am still waiting. I have contacted the company and the installers and they have been anything but helpful, constantly telling me why they can't put my goal up. I have gone to the store twice and both times the manager on duty was able to get the company to call me, only to tell me they will call me later to let me know when they will be out. Angry and frustrated begin to describe my feelings, but only begin. The SELECT EXPRESS people always call and try to act so friendly as they tell me that they can't come out. The last excuse, which was Jan 4, was that I didn't tell the tech he could come over, when I have a message from this very "technician" that he would be out around 4, since the original time I set up with his company wouldn't work for him, and to call him back if that didn't work. Well everything is already outside waiting on them, so they don't need me and I didn't have a problem with 4, so therefore no need to call this "technician" back. So at 5:30 I get a call from some guy laughing on the phone to tell me they weren't coming out. I told him in a not so friendly way that I had figured that out and wanted to know why, to which I was told it was my fault for not calling the technician back. A few unfriendly words to him and then another unfriendly phone call to this technician and I am now waiting on Monday, Jan 9, to hopefully get this job completed. A lot of typing to say how terrible SELECT EXPRESS is and I wish I could get my money back but since they have my garage tied up with this goal and a hole in my yard where I assume one day that goal will go, I will just type angrily and hope I don't break the space bar!! read more

We went there to pick up some Christmas items. We got a Reebok pull over and pants off a rack with a sign that said simply "Buy one get 50% off." I guess the sign was a mistake. I showed the sales guy the sign. He took the sign down and was only going to give me a portion off the item. I did finally get the 50% off, but the salesman was less than happy. I will NEVER go back to Dicks for ANYTHING!!!! THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS POOR!!! If you want to be treated like dirt, Dicks is the place for you! We knew exactly what we wanted before we got to the tent section. We had 15 minutes before they closed, so we ran in. Knowing we could get in and out quickly, we started to go in. The greeter stopped us and said they close in 10 minutes (it was actually 15), but we said yes and continued on. As we get to the tent section, a lady comes over and asks if we know they are closing in a few minutes and she doesn't think we will have time to look for anything. She said she didn't think she could help us with anything because they were closing. REALLY?!?!?! So we left immediately. I guess we will be doing ALL of our sporting goods shopping elsewhere. Too bad, because we have 3 kids just approaching the "sports" age. But, it's fine. Will Never Shop here again! Went into store at 9:15pm store closed at 9:30pm. Was immediately met at front door by employee who made sure we knew they closed in less than 15min. actually we had exactly 15min. What customer coming in at this time doesn't know the store is closing in 15 min. We were immediately frustrated but continued for the item that we were there to buy. When we got in this area a lady asked if we needed help and we stated no. We knew what we were there to buy. She immediately said well you don't have much time we close in 10 min. What has happened to customer service! This set us over the edge and we walked out. Dick's obviously doesn't need our money as they are more interested in clock watching and making sure they leave right on or before 9:30pm. Doesn't anyone care about customer service anymore!
