This place is the worst. We purchased a bike for my son here and a few months later the derailer broke. We live right around the corner so we took it here, but they said they weren't taking any bikes because their tech was out for an extended time. We'd check back every now and then but got the same answer, so we packed it up for the winter and just a few weeks ago I had my son and daughter bring it back. The staff, instead of just taking the bike back (which is still under warranty) chose to make a big fuss and turn us away for not having a repair #, but also stating that the bike couldn't have been damaged the way my son had stated. We call asurion and get a repair number, and then resubmit the bike. They never called us, or have me paperwork, so 2 weeks later when I pop in the guy says they can't repair the bike. At the time I thought nothing of it, and was prepared to take it to Annapolis, which is out of the way, but it was the only option. However when we came back to pick it up, I read the sign that said clear as day "if we can't repair the bike we will replace it" and we questioned the staff member about it. Scott, who we initially talked to when my kids brought the bike in, and the same day when I brought it back stated that he was the tech that was out when we initially were attempting to get it fixed. He is solely focused on the fact that the bike couldn't have broken the way my son stated, and was personally refusing to fix the bike, even though we already got the go ahead from the warranty people. Scott, is telling us that him and another manager CJ, have deemed what happened to the bike to be neglect, and have decided that they won't help us any further. They just let the bike sit in the rafter for 2 weeks, and never contacted asurion to submit any update on the bike. We argued for about 30 minutes, but got nowhere. They tried twisting our words, and down right lying about what had taken place in our prior dealing with them, and now Scott all of a sudden says he wasn't even the bike tech, but he's the person most hell bent on not honoring our warranty. Which the store doesn't even have to pay to fix, because it's under warranty. The neglect that they speak of is that they don't believe how my son claimed it broke, but let's be for real he's 15 and could possibly be withholding some details, but regardless the bike is under warranty and we didn't even need to offer an explanation. They fully refuse to help us, and we take the bike outside and call the warranty company in the parking lot. The lady from Asurion is shocked, and saying she's never heard of such a thing happening. She stated that they have already given us repair number, and given an okay for the bike to be fixed. She stated that the matter in which the bike was broken had nothing to do with anything, and that the tech just needed to assess the bike and then send them a report. We went back into the store with the lady from Asurion on the phone, and let Scott talk to her. Then after being told they didn't have a tech that could fix the bike (even though initially Scott stated he was the tech that was out the summer before) and after they said they wouldn't fix the bike, they now had a tech named Andy that would be in on Tuesday to take a look at it, and contact Asurion. However Scott, was like parts take a long time, and made it seem as if they were salty and would just stall everything to spite us, and we just really wanted to have the issue resolved. So we took the bike to Annapolis, and they didn't even care how the bike was broken, they just said we'll fix it. It could be about 2 weeks for the part and another week for the repair. Scott and CJ were rude and unprofessional. They fought us every step of the way, and even made up their own rules to impede us, when they couldn't justify anything with an actual policy. The guy from Annapolis said that they see broken derailers all of the time, and they even have a name for it, that's kind like an inside joke with the people in their department. Scott and CJ acted as if there has never ever been a broken derailer from the GT brand ever in life, and were insulted at the idea of it. Like these guys were fully invested in fighting us tooth and nail instead of giving us the service they we deserved. They went above and beyond to their duty to see that we would not have our bike serviced at their store (which is where we purchased the bike) and I can only assume that this strategy has worked for them in the past, because of how adamant and aggressive they were with my family and myself. In the end Scott had to eat humble pie as the lady from Asurion told him that they couldn't do what they were doing. They had made such a big deal about us getting the repair #, and then when we did they didn't even touch our bike. read more

I can't believe I'm reviewing this store, but my experience yesterday was mind numbingly ridiculous and worth sharing. We came for a treadmill with two models in mind. The store was noticeably short staffed but while other patrons were getting questions answered I attempted getting help and was essentially shunned, but a kid helped me enough to let me know what I wanted was in stock. When I was finally able to get assistance and have someone go back to retrieve the large box with the treadmill, the employee came out after 5 minutes asking if I wanted the treadmill on that trip. No dumb questions right? I said yes and he went back into the warehouse. A couple minutes later some managers walked back and did not acknowledge me. One of the managers came out a short time later and asked, "do you want this today?". I said yes and pointed to my cousin who was in town for a day and could help me lift the large box at home and get it where it was needed. They told me it would be another 10 minutes at which point a different manager started questioning me. He asked how many people were with me, if I knew the box was 8 feet long, and if I had a truck. I assured him that I was well aware what I was up against and that I had a van in place and had thought this through. He again reminded me that the box was 8 feet long and I reminded him that it was also 300 pounds. By the time I paid the trip was approaching an hour and nearly every employee I had encountered made me feel like a hassle, which may have been true, but a treadmill is not cheap and they sell them, so it comes with the territory. The manager that reminded me of the box length multiple times continued to doubt that I had the facilities to transport the 300 pound 8 foot box. At my van he was apprehensive about putting the box in, and I had to lead the process. The younger employee nearly put the box in upside down and I had to remind him that it had a top and bottom side. Scott, the annoying manager that challenged my comprehension of the situation at every turn casted doubt once again at the final step of this expensive and stupid experience. He did not believe there was enough width still, and I said I thought there was. The employees stopped pushing the box in agreeing with him. I assured them it would fit, and gave the box two final shoves and it fit like a glove. Before I pushed the box in place I asked if Scott wanted to bet $5. After the box was in the back of my van, all 8 feet and 300 pounds of it. I told Scott to stop being so doubtful and that he owed me $5. Scott, whatever has led to your pessimism and lack of faith in your customers intellect; I hope you can recover from. Your attitude has rubbed off on the rest of your team from what I can tell, and I would bet another $5 you were the one that told the other employees to ask if I wanted the product on that visit. The answer to that question will always be yes if a customer is waiting for you to retrieve the product. You probably don't get paid enough, but I also don't get paid enough to spend that kind of money and deal with that kind of annoying bs. Peace read more

Mulled over the purchase of a Sole F80 Treadmill from Dick's Sporting Goods in Crofton, Maryland. Finally decided to go ahead with the purchase. Cheapest way to acquire the purchase was to borrow a truck, purchase from the local Dick's sporting Goods store and tote it come from there. Borrowed truck all lined up, support to help me unload it from the store, and confirmed with sales person that the item was in stock. Purchased online... one hour later, i get the text that the item ISN'T IN STOCK. Way to go Salesperson, way to go Dick's. So much for checking stock beforehand. This store sucks. I recently moved from Dallas and shop at Dick's routinely. Spending usually 800-1200 per year there. A drop in the bucket for them I'm sure but I do frequent the place. I just spent 10 mins with a shoe in my hand searching and waiting for anyone to help me. No one came. I then expressed my frustration to someone I believe was the manager, AJ, and his first reaction was to say he had people back there. I only got a half hearted apology as I walked out of the store stating I would rather not purchase the shoes there. Honestly upon writing this review and seeing the ratings for the store I'm not surprised I was met with this lack of customer service. Oh and to make matters worse (this is actually kind of funny), it's my birthday and I was getting the shoes as a present to myself. First world problems right? The older guy at the golf department was yelling and condescending towards me. I wanted to get my golf grips changed and he started yelling at me talking about how it was difficult to change the grip on my putter. Interestingly, he would talk normally while attending to another customer that was trying out golf clubs, then would start to yell when addressing me. I think he has issues that he needs to deal with! I "googled" how to change golf grips for my putter and found a lot of helpful videos. Looks like he needs more training to do his job. I came to this store a couple of weeks ago with my elderly neighbor who was searching for Redskins apparel for a birthday gift. The store is huge. We weren't sure where the Redskins section was, so it was my duty to track down an employee, who ultimately walked us over to the correct section. I asked the employee where the kids jerseys were and she informed me that they were mixed in with the other apparel on the racks. The section we went to was just starting to be stocked, so there were racks of jerseys and shirts everywhere. It made it hard to look for what we wanted because the racks were jam packaged with merchandise. I agree with reviewers who say that their Redskins apparel is limited. The Ravens and Orioles were the main teams here. My neighbor picked out a hat and was looking for a specific Redskins player jersey. There were no employees in our section, so we went looking. We looked, and looked, and looked. I swear we walked the entire store and then some. There was not one employee on the floor to ask for help. The only employee in our immediate area was in the shoe department and the section was packed with customers. My neighbor and I made the long trek to the back of the store to the registers where two girls were chatting amongst themselves. My neighbor explained exactly what she wanted and one of the girls radioed to an employee for help. We waited for a little over 15 minutes before another employee shows up with a jersey that was 3 sizes too big. My neighbor was fed up at this point, was tired of waiting, and just grabbed a gift card from the stand near the register to purchase, along with the hat. Bottom line: They have a ton of merchandise (if you're into certain teams) and the store is large. Unfortunately, the store is grossly understaffed. I was very pleased to have a lady by the name of Daria assist me with three items even though I went in the store for two pieces of clothing. I wasn't really familiar with Dick's Sporting Goods Stores because this is the first one that is remotely close to me. Sure, I've seen them in Columbia and Virginia, but I never shopped here until it came to Crofton. I shopped here a few times and it seems to be a pretty worthy place to go for all of your sporting goods needs. I was able to find all of my sporting goods needs in one place. Sure, the items that I was shopping for weren't too extreme, but they had them in stock, a large variety of colors and sizes to boot. Only issue I seem to encounter is that I can never seem to find anyone working on the floor when I'm in need of assistance, but this store offers a wide and plentiful variety of items to chose from. In addition to never being able to find staff on the floor to assist me, it never seems to be enough staff at the registers. On the flip side of that, the store is huge, has plenty of parking in the front and side of the store and very clean and organized. Dick's also offers customers a rewards program card for discounts and promotions for future purchases. I have to agree with my friend Crystal H. because I only saw a handful of Redskins paraphernalia and I implore them to start stocking local teams in the store....not just the Ravens. read more

Terrible customer service. I bought my son a bike from there which they inspected before we left. The next day a nut came off the front wheel axle as he was riding the bike and it was lost. Therefore, it was unsafe for him to ride. I went back the store and explained the situation to an employee. I asked if they had a nut in their big toolbox near the bike section or in the back that I could buy. The employee radioed to the manager and I was then told they couldn't do anything for me and had no parts. I got the impression I was bothering them and they didn't want to help. I then went to the Bike Dr in Waugh Chapel and explained the situation to an employee. Within a two minutes, they were able to get me a nut that fit, and refused to let me pay when I offered. I will not spend anymore money at this store. I am actually in the market for a bike for myself. I will go to the Bike Dr! read more

Wow... I stopped into this Dick's to pick up a baseball to get autographs at the game. Outside of their store they have a huge banner stating that they price match competitors pricing. I looked on their website and Amazon and Walmart were both listed so I pulled both of them up. They stated that the item has to be directly shipped from both locations to qualify for the price match. Dick's had their baseballs priced at 24.99. Both Wal-Mart and Amazon had their baseballs priced at 15.99, and both were directly shipped by both retailers. This Dick's retailer treated me as though I was trying to steal from them even though both items were from Wal-Mart and Amazon. They finally agreed to price match, but I don't appreciate being treated like a crook rather than a paying customer. I won't be back!!! If you're going to advertise that you will price match competitors then do it. read more

Located in the Waugh Chapel shopping area across from Wegman's, I came here to get combination locks when everyone else in their back to school buying frenzy were sold out. I did call first to confirm and it was a good first impression with the guy who answered my call. I was able to utilize the spacious parking area on the side of the building and avoid the slow walking, non-attentive texters that sashay into the crossway. Checkout was painless and the store is laid out in an organized manner. There were no stray items in the aisles and all the racks were orderly. If it's your choice, they have a card you can sign up for and accumulate points for stuff. Good customer service by phone and in person. I'd come back and shop here. Appreciate them having items in stock. read more

It's sad this place has such a low rating because I tend to always find the merchandise I'm looking for and the store is always clean and well organized. I've purchased shoes from the shoe department without any issues and I tend to prefer being left in peace when shopping so haven't really noticed a storage in staff. The exception to this was one time when I was looking at treadmills and the one young man serving that area acted like he was too overwhelmed to assist me. Never went back for assistance in that area again. When I go to checkout they have a decent number of cashier's so overall in all I give this store four stars. read more

If you're a Ravens fan, you'll be in love! However, if you're a Redskins fan, go elsewhere!! Only 2 racks of Redskin gear in the entire store! I have to say that I was EXTREMELY disappointed with their selection of sports gear in this location! I was looking for Redskin gear only to find that they only had 2 racks that were mostly jerseys! However, there was every bit of 10 + racks of Ravens gear! They even had more Navy gear in this location! I received good customer service and the store is very nice and clean, I was just very disappointed with their Redskin selection given their proximity to Fedex Field! read more

Not sure why the ratings are so low here. The store is very good -- wide selection of sports equipment. Every sport imaginable. It's great. Sure if you want Redskins apparel (full disclosure: I DON'T) there's not a lot of that here...perhaps it's because they support winning teams? Redskins Stadium is a couple miles down the street -- you can get your jerseys there. Jokes aside, I always went to Sports Authority and never visited Dick's until the other day. It's great. Full selection of sports equipment, just any sport available. This is a great store for athletics and weekend warriors. read more

The customer service is poor. The older customer service representative sits in chairs while the younger representative attempt to help. I constantly walk around looking for items. The only reason I go is because sport authority is closed and Amazon takes a couple of days. The bike shop is poor. If you can buy from amazon first or go to a local bike store before going to Dicks. I would go to REI in a heartbeat before Dicks. It is just to far. I recommended going to another Dicks if possible. read more

They opened late I had to wait like forever it was a a horrible experience and they need air conditioning.

This was my second time going in there in less than a year and I will never go again. Similar things as stated below happened the first time. The people were young and inexperienced. As soon as I walked in, two guys (no more than 18) were talking to two girls and I walked up as I was looking for UA men's boxers for my fiancee. Instantly one of the guys ran away and the other guy asked me if I was looking for something. As soon as I asked about the men's underwear, he seemed disgusted and pointed me to the direction very curtly. I then wandered for a while browsing (great selection of items in their store) and picked up a few things to try on. I had no idea where the fitting rooms were as they were not well established with any signs. I then wandered the store for another 10 minutes trying to look for someone to open the apparently already unlocked and hidden fitting rooms. They seemed very under-staffed at 6-7pm on a Monday evening. I ran into the guy who ran away in the beginning and stopped him to ask where they were, and he hurriedly told me then ran off. Not only that, but I needed new minimalist shoes for crossfit and running and the selection was pretty terrible (all they had were Nike Free's). Not to mention the guy in the shoe section had a very small amount of knowledge about any type of minimalist shoe. He was not very helpful when I asked what a decent shoe would be while doing crossfit and a bit of running with knee issues. He just looked at me and shrugged his shoulders. Lastly, as I was checking out, they had one cashier at each end of the store and I, as well as the other people around me, stood there for about 20 minutes as one of the cashiers just meandered and talked to each and every person about their lives. Luckily someone saw the line going from 4 to about 20 people and got a second person. She was very quick and got people in and out. The second cashier and the selection of items are the only good things about this place. I will stick to my Sport's Authority store in Columbia and Laurel, thank you. read more

We came into Dicks two weeks ago to purchase two bicycles. An employee named Tim helped us through every stage of the purchasing process, from patiently telling us detailed information about each bicycle, retrieving the bikes for us, and then helping us choose a bike rack. He was also kind enough to go out of his way to assemble the bike rack for us when we told him that we did not know how to do it ourselves. He assembled the bike rack and attached it to our car (which seemed like no easy task), and when we decided that the bike rack did not suit our needs, he took the rack off of the car, disassembled it, and returned it for us. He went far above and beyond our expectations by making sure that all of our needs were met, even while assisting other customers. I was a little hesitant to buy bikes from Dicks, but I will definitely continue to shop here in the future. A+ customer service. read more

Went here to buy a stand up paddle board. Checked online to see if they had the purple one in stock at this specific store and it said that they did. Get here and there's no purple paddle board in stock. I would have just dealt with it and gotten a different color but the only three other boards there were damaged. Like they dropped those boards on pavement and still put them up for sale. I'm not paying a couple hundred dollars for a damaged board. I understand that it will incur damages from usage but it'll be from me and not from some stupid store employee carelessly handling it. Also couldn't find anyone to help us and you know there's usually an abundance of employees swarming around constantly asking if you need help. Not at this store. When we did finally see two employees as we were leaving, they were just standing around chatting. Will not be coming back here ever. read more

Without a doubt, Dick's is the best chain sports store. This particular one is quite large and has a large selection of quality products. I would like to see more sales due to the high price of the those quality products. It appears that every sport gear is available. Parking is abundant. Come here for your sport needs. And for those folks complaining about the lack of Redskin products, maybe you should focus your complaints to the Redskins lack of winning instead. read more

Great store and great selection! I have been here few times and I always find something that I can use. The prices are not that crazy either and are comparable with Amazon, but you can look and feel things before you can buy. I usually go there to buy sporting goods. My experience with the staff was ok. I bought a gun safe and the sales guy was knowledgeable, but not pushy. The guy at the counter was a typical college kid, who had no interest in repeat customers. However, I am taking 1 star off, as Dicks was one of the first chain to surrender in front of anti-2A groups and stopped carrying regulated firearms. read more
