But don't ask questions about ammo, especially if they are out. "I don't know" can you ask someone who might? Walks away to take a call, and that was after my kid put money in the not working shooting game, that he even said yes they don't work all the time. Maybe fix it then? After he pretended to call someone, waited for a little bit then said forget it. Come in later to try and ask a question and see pretty much all little shooters using it, but not us. Even when I am not shopping there, I make it my business to park in their parking lot whenever I go to Arundel Mills mall bc it's just one of those stores that just makes you... feel good. There's an assortment of everything here, literally, and I've purchased a lot lol. Hiking boots, hats, gloves, sunglasses, a grill, a sled, a tent & for as much as I just named, there's so much more. What takes it over the top is the scenery, and the politeness of the staff. My family loves this store. Hubby is an outdoorsman and son loves to admire the fish in the tank, test the boats, and then go do some laser shooting at the "range". I am writing this review to document an absolutely unacceptable experience I had at the Hanover, MD location of Bass Pro Shops, specifically within the firearms department. While I had high expectations given the size and reputation of the brand, what I encountered was blatant disrespect, poor training, and a deeply unprofessional environment -- one that I would strongly caution other women to avoid. I purchased a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 online and, being new to the online firearm purchasing process, I responsibly called the store the next day to confirm next steps. I was told to wait for my Maryland 77R application to be approved and then visit the store to begin the pickup process. Simple enough -- or so I thought. Upon arrival, I was assisted by a salesperson who was easily the rudest, most condescending individual I have ever encountered in a retail setting. He began by aggressively demanding proof that the firearm was in stock, even though I had already completed my online order. I explained that I hadn't received such an email, at which point he flippantly asked, "Then why would you come here if you don't know it's here?" He then went to the back and -- surprise -- the firearm was there. Rather than apologizing or clarifying the process, he proceeded to start the paperwork but told me my ID wasn't sufficient. That in itself wasn't a problem -- I was willing to return with my passport. However, what followed was inexcusable: a completely unprovoked, patronizing lecture where he insisted I "didn't know how this works," and sarcastically suggested I "go back to my firearms instructor" to learn the rules. Here's the kicker: I am a certified firearms instructor. Women can be instructors, and I am one. His attitude was not only unprofessional -- it was flat-out sexist and hostile. The exchange escalated to the point where the salesperson declared he was done speaking to me and walked away, forcing the department manager to step in and try to salvage the situation. To the manager's credit, he apologized for the salesperson's behavior and assured me it would be addressed with the store manager the next day. Whether that follow-up ever occurred is unknown. What I do know is that the encounter was so disrespectful and demeaning that I chose to request a full refund from customer service rather than continue doing business with that location. It was that bad. Let me be absolutely clear: If you are a woman -- particularly a Black woman -- looking to purchase a firearm or ask questions about the process, I strongly advise you to avoid the Hanover Bass Pro Shops firearms department altogether. You deserve to be treated with respect and professionalism, and that's not what you'll find there. For what it's worth, I went to a local dealer afterward, purchased the Bodyguard 2.0, and couldn't be happier with my new carry pistol. Final thought: Do better, Bass Pro. Your brand should not be associated with this kind of treatment. read more

I want to update my review to reflect the excellent service I received from Bass Pro Hanover as we worked through my boat trade. Rod and Mike went above and beyond to resolve the situation -- handling the numbers, coordinating directly with my credit union, and keeping me informed every step of the way. They were responsive, professional, and patient with my many questions. After a rough start with the Tahoe T16, they worked hard to structure a fair trade into the Tahoe 185S and made sure everything was ready for delivery. I truly appreciate their effort and customer service in turning this into a positive experience. We took it out today and the water was rough, and we immediately noticed a difference. Although I know this boat is not designed specifically for rough water it has been a major upgrade compared to the T16 in terms of stability, safety and overall ride comfort. Always a good selection of clothing and fishing gear. It's a place that you could shop for hours. I find that the gun and ammo counter is always understaffed and it takes too long to see anything or ask questions. Ammo seems to be in short supply for various calibers, which is frustrating. She is friendly, patient, listens and takes her time to make sure she meets your needs. There was another woman of color there I cannot remember her name she was nice as well. I must say that the men are not as friendly and patient as the women are. Most of the men are standoffish and rude. I did get a chance to speak with Mike while working with BK. He had us laughing and provided some additional information. If BK is not there I would recommend asking for the other black young lady or Mike. If I had to work with anyone else I probably would purchase elsewhere. Thank goodness for BK, Mike and the other black women. Also, please be patient when going. I will never buy a Hand Gun from this store again! They are so unorganized. They have you sign in, but have no Idea who has been seen and who has not. People walk up to the counter and talk to the workers behind the counter and be given assistance when they are suppose to be going off the list. I was seen at the counter, and asked to wait until some one calls me to process the firearm I bought. I'm waiting for someone to call me, while again people just walk up to the counter to be waited on while some were told we would be called. No organization or accountability of who is in line and who just walk up. NEVER Again. I will drive to my small local gun shop for now on. All this because my son gave me a gift card. I have been coming to this Bass Pro Shop since Arundel Mills first opened. Last year, I started getting into firearms and the Hunting department has always been super helpful in making sure I buy the best products for Clay Shooting and home defense. I have also liked the people over in the fishing section as they are equally knowledgeable about the products and have allowed me to get gut checks before i make a buying decision. The inventory is also very good. Plenty of stuff for hunting, fishing, clay shooting, camping you name it. The food selection is also pretty solid and they always have a plentiful supply of Black Rifle Coffee to purchase! (I def recommend trying the Freedom Roast!). read more

On black Friday parking was utterly insane... I'm fairly sure it's not usually like that. I was passing through the area and needed a few items that I forgot to pack. They had a great selection of items even though it was late in the day on black Friday. I got my items and headed to the check out... It was quick and painless. I purchased my items and got on the road. One of the items I purchased broke on my first time using it. I would have returned the item in store but I live fairly far from here. I contacted the store looking for my receipt that I had lost so I could contact the manufacturer directly to solve my issue. The customer service people at Bass pro were very quick to look up my name and the item proof of purchase I needed. They emailed me proof of my purchase very quickly and we're eager to help if I needed anything else. Really great customer service! read more

More than just a outdoor store, it is part museum, part aquarium, part gaming center. There's a climbing wall, a shooting range, a bunch of bass and other fish in a giant tank, and so much more. What a fun place to explore and think of all the possibilities of outdoor fun if you had limitless money! They have boats out front and boats inside, and plenty of friendly and competent staff members eager to sell you what you need. I didn't come here to purchase anything because your girl does not hunt, fish, or do very many "outdoorsy" things. I strictly came in here because Hawaii does not have one, and because I knew it would keep my kid entertained. The shop sets up their store to allow for photo opps with different displays. My kid took pictures with moose, bears, and fish. I've never seen so much camouflage in my life! I mean, if I was into this hunting stuff, I would be in heaven. You think you entered an episode of duck dynasty, for real. I can see hunters entering and their eyes bulging with all the cool toys they have. The store in located in Arundel Mills Mall, so parking is not an issue. My family and I went right before Christmas, so it was pretty busy. Also, in the same mall is Medieval Times, although I'm not sure if that adds to how crowded it can be. Bass Pro didn't seem crowded, so if you're looking to go but hate feeling like a sardine, you should be good. I don't think people fight over hunting gear. hahaha read more

I can never understand the appeal of a store like that. Maybe it is because I am not an outdoorsy type of person. Maybe it is because it seems a bit obsessive. Whatever it is I rarely go into one and attempt to steer clear of them. While out on a recent trip we entered the mall through this store. It is a bit of an odd mixture of museum and retail, but not like a gift shop tucked away in a corner. It is a bit grandiose with the displays, I know it is to draw you in and capture your imagination, but I didn't get that one bit. What I can say is that this place is well organized and well stocked. The staff are courteous and willing to help you out in any way possible. Another thing this place has going for itself is an entrance into the mall. Unlike other stores at this time that share an entrance with both the inside and outside of the mall, this one is actually still has their entrances opened both ways. That might have to do with the positioning of where it sits in relation to the main entrances to the mall. read more

I went to Bass Pro and the surf rod I wanted was out of stock. The Cabelas had low inventory but one is on the way. Shipping is included for orders over $50. This place is a hunter or fisherman's Disneyland. There are wonderful nature scenes, complete with animals that are museum worthy. You can find hunting gear, and every type of fishing item - from bait to poles. There have clothing for any weather situation. There are cooking items for any camping scenario imaginable. What can i say. It's Bass Pro. One of my favorite stores. The employees here are very friendly. Everything is usually fully stocked. The store is spotlessly clean and also the bathrooms are highly maintained. The general crowd is usually middle-class so the shopping environment is good and peaceful. Most of the pricing on a lot of stuff is not bad. Some stuff is even cheaper. Yes I said cheaper then amazon even on some stuff. The people in the boat area are very friendly and definitely helpful. They had answers to all my questions. Also they have a massive fish tank with a seating area to sit and look at the fish. The only downfall is THE PARKING. Because Bass Pro shares the parking lot with the mall and the mall shares the parking lot with the casino. Parking is usually a hassle here on the weekends because of the massive amount of car traffic. read more

Pandemic-weary as all of us are, my wife and I sought out this location to purchase self-inflating air mattresses for our staycation over our holiday break, and we did not leave disappointed. Our only slight annoyance was being told that we could not enter an hour early like some other customers because we did not yet possess a Bass Pro Shops credit card. This place is amazing, like all of the Bass Pro locations. We own a Tahoe boat (that we ended up buying used), but they have the new line, all the brochures, and can answer most questions. My son & grandson love fishing. So today, we went to Bass Pro so my 11 year old grandson could spend his birthday gift card. The huge tank full of fish is something the kids (and grownups) can watch for hours. The place has plenty of staff around to answer questions. The checkout clerks are friendly. All I wanted to do was look at some over/under shotguns for shooting clays but I wasn't greeted by any of the staff that were all bundled up on one end of the counter of the gun case display area. I thought that was odd so I saw another customer standing in an isle waiting patiently. I asked her was there some sort of que or a waiting list and she said yes and pointed me to a sign-in tablet to be seen. I sign up and I'm number 15 in line. It was after 6pm and I was trying to go home. I waited as long as I could and decided to ditch the wait, purchased some clothing items and left disappointed. My issue is that instead of assuming the little sign on a piece of paper would grab people's attention to prompt them to sign the waiting list, why not engage the customer? They all looked at me and stared at me as I was admiring the shotguns I wanted to spend money on but no one thought it wise to talk to me and ask if they could offer me some assistance. I don't think I want to go there now. Maybe this is just a holidays thing but don't have people standing around looking dumb and assuming they know about the sign-in and wait system they have. I LOVE BASS PRO AND CABELAS! I am a member, have their credit card, and am avid fisher, outdoorsman, and target shooter. This brand is my TOYS R US! Unfortunately, this location has a young man named "Ian" that is at the "Customer Service Counter" that does not like his job. As I was issued my temporary member card by the SUPER NICE Gentleman at the member's booth, he advised me that I had to go to the customer service counter to checkout as it was a temporary card and I assumed I'd have to show my identification, etc. . . Well, "IAN" proceeded to tell me to go to the "checkout lines around the corner" pointing as if there aren't big lights, before I could explain that I was specifically instructed to go to this counter. Boy did that mess this kid's day up! As I tried to look passed the initial snarkiness (as I was in a Customer Service Operator for 25 years), I had laid mention that the reason I was buying a TON of clothes is that I left all of my gear at home halfway across the Country. Ian simply continued scanning. Fine. Not a people person I guess. I kindly asked if I could keep the hangers for the articles of clothing that I purchased (since I obviously left my clothes at home on MY hangers), he proceeded to lecture me on how they keep them because "we use them over and over again" (even snarkier this time as if he enjoyed it). My colleague walked away from the counter at this point as he suspected that something was going to be said, but I simply let him do his job silently, he typed in my Member Credit Card number off of a piece of paper without checking my ID, looped the bags together and said "there ya go". I walked away and asked two women standing at the exit if they were managers, and one replied "I'm a Supervisor" (okay), and I explained that Ian clearly is not having a good day and/or doesn't like his job. I spent over $200 in clothing at this place, and after YEARS of patronizing this establishment, I feel like I was slapped in the face by this experience. This location has some major issues. I'm not much of an outdoorsman or a camper, so when I stop by a Bass Pro, my destination is the firearms department. I want to see what's for sale and if their prices are competitive. This being Maryland, which is just about as restrictive on guns as Illinois and New York, they did have a decent selection of long guns and pistols available. Prices were pretty good. Lots of shotgun ammunition for sale but I did not see any pistol calibers available. The store was tidy and well maintained. Shelves were stocked and there was staff about to help. read more

We visited for pictures with Santa and it was so well done, I felt compelled to leave a review. This year I had to make an appointment. In years past, we just waited in line, which was long, but still worth it. We arrived and were temperature checked. Only one family ahead of us. Santa was fantastic! Very chatty with the kids. There was no rushing and we took a ton of pictures. Decorations were festive. We left with a free photo, candy canes, take-home crafts and several packets of hot chocolate!
