The shoes were a mess it took us forever to find a size in the right style, once we did, the lady at the checkout had the wrong price, made us feel awful then after another 10 mins of not having anyone to price check she threw us a bone and gave us a 10$ off coupon which was still more expensive than the signed price... Lake Oswego store has rude, arrogant sales people! High prices with weak sales events. Dick's doesn't seem to know how to hire and especially, train sales people, at the corporate level. This review is only about the hunting and fishing department of the store. I am only giving them two stars because they have fair prices on pretty much everything. They rarely have anything listed in the weekly adds and employee service/product knowledge is awful. Gun and fishing selection is decent but the employees are too opinionated to the point of almost being rude even when you know what you want. Ammo selection is weak and way overpriced. I will go back because its convenient but I will keep my expectations low. read more

I cannot believe Dicks's is still in business! We went there to purchase an in-ground basketball hoop for our kids. After looking at them for 15-20 mins we had some questions and I had to hunt down a sales-person which meant I traversed the entire store to find one. Once, I did they sent someone else over from "fishing & hunting" to help us. While he was a very nice gentleman he knew nothing about bb hoops! SO we figured out which one we wanted and headed to check out. The sweet checkout gal had NO idea how to ring up the hoop & delivery/assembly costs, b/c there were NO bar codes anywhere!!! She grabs her manager who then talks on her ear piece to god knows who. After 15 min (no joke) I leave as I am with 3 little kids one of which I am holding the whole time! My husband patiently waits to purchase this item. He is brought to the back of the store where he encounters 2 more sales people who attempt to help him. Are you keeping track we have now talked with 6 sales people to order 1 item!!! Insanity. I head home (we drove separately) Finally, he orders the hoop only to then be told they are out of stock it will take 2 weeks for delivery & then at least another week for installation! Because my hubby is trying to please the family he purchased the hoop $1,494! He arrived home and told me this and I am beyond pissed at Dick's, their lack of customer service is un-aaceptable and NO one should ever be passed around 6 times to buy an item, which is out of stock!!! All that to say, I will be returning it and we will never go to DICKS again! Fast forward 3 weeks...this gets better! We ended up NOT returning the hoop because it really was the one we wanted and quite frankly I didn't have time to shop around again. So we were anticipating the install to happen in mid-July. The install co (3rd party) calls and sets a date and a time range 12-3 that they will be here. I wait & wait, no show. I call them and they tell me that when they went to pick it up at Dick's they didn't have it!?!? SO I call Dick's. At this point I am only speaking to the store manager, who I must say is the ONLY reason I'll bump my 1 star rating upto to a 2. He was very patient and apologetic for this whole fiasco, because what he discovered happend when the install company came to pick it up at their warehouse (which they did) they installed it at the wrong house!!! Wrong hoop at the wrong house!!! Can you believe this! SO they have to order us a new one and honestly it took till Mid/late-August for our hoop to be in! The manager did his best and refunded us almost half the cost for the hoop. So now that it's Fall and getting colder out we are finally enjoying our hoop! read more

Drove all the way from Salem as they said online they had a specific item, and it was on sale. After 10 minutes of looking and trying to find a sales associate, found one! I mentioned the item was on sale, was told..no it was not, until the associate looked online and found yes it was on sale. She told the front counter to make sure I got the sale price. The person at the counter said, no it is not on sale. Took more time to prove to them it was on sale. Their attitude and not wanting to help was not welcome. Will find other stores with trained personnel. read more

The selection and usual store functions are fine. The one objection is that they sell sports/camping gear (chairs) with large ads plastered over the back without letting the customer know first. That's fine if you know in advance what you're getting or don't mind having your camping gear slapped with an ad that can be read at a hundred yards (these ads include DICK'S in huge letters), but it's not a classy move. None of the other camping gear we've bought or seen have sunk to that level. This is a mistake at the corporate level and the local store folk are not responsible for the manufacturing design, though they should inform the customer who bring these things to the cash register if that's the way the bosses want to advertise their gear. read more

As you walk in the front doors you will see a big picture of the original Dicks Sporting Goods store with the original owners holding two fishing poles. Once you pass that picture, all the values that made Dicks Sporting Goods a great store simply are missing. Maybe I am being too blunt, their merchandise is good and the pricing is not half bad. Even had the third employee that we walked by turn and ask if we were finding everything okay. He was great, tall blonde haired male. He explained the differences in brands breathability for rain gear and even stuck around through our back and forward deliberation. Offered to even place an order or look up the item for another store location. But let's say that he wasn't working today, this review would of been 1 or 2 stars. As soon as we went to check out the cashier was seldom and blue, didn't have that frantic newbie apologetic syndrome, but had the I should of never been hired for customer service because I really don't care about my job syndrome. We asked to make sure we had the best coupon for our few hundred dollar purchase and he simply shrugged and had no idea why we would ask him what store coupons or discounts they currently have. If we didn't spend a few hundred dollars at their store I wouldn't of cared. But there are so many places that the cashiers go out of their way to help you get a discount that this encounter just felt very disappointing. Not too mention that the $10 off any $50+ coupon I used, the cashier next to us denied the next customer use of it saying we only take coupons off Dicks sporting goods website. Go figure. Shoe dept had no customer service. I came in for a specific shoe and after finally finding a sale item was happy, then went looking for one more item which I found at 25% off! Score I thought! Got to the register. The shoes were mismarked on display they said I'd need to pay full price. Um I don't think so. After a worker going to check the mismatched price which took a solid 10 min they confirmed yes I was right and this once they'd give me the mismarked price. Got home...my 25% off item was not rang in right. Called the store. They said only 1 item was actually the 25% off not mine. I said the sign was misleading to customers. He said no it wasn't and hung up. I won't be back there again! read more

Called beforehand to ask about pricing for club services. (The pricing online wasn't really clear for re-shafting). I had a new set of shafts that I wanted installed in my irons and new grips for all my clubs. Guy I spoke with said they need to make sure the shafts would fit the irons (as if I didn't do this before I bought the new shafts) and said I really need to come in. I agreed since I knew they would fit. I went in a couple of hours later. When I got there I saw the same guy I spoke to the phone (Bruce) who gave me the same same runaround and then said the guy who needs to look at them wasn't working that day, but would be back the next day from 8-4pm... this would've been useful information to mention on the phone before I made the trip. Now I have to make an extra trip. Not only that, but he wouldn't let me leave the clubs so they more competent coworker could carry out my request the next day. Instead I have to figure out how to go in during work hours since I work a normal M-F 8-5 job. I think he just didn't want to deal with me because they were kind of busy. worst shopping experience ever with dicks made me become angry and ready to beat the crap out of the employee that was working in the fishing gun department so here's the reason why I went in about 2 months ago and was standing for exactly a little over a hour with several employees standing around being stupid and talking with a manager I was in there to buy a new reel and rod and some gear and need help to determine the set up I wanted like I said a little over a hour in front of reels is stupid especially your making eye contact with the 4-5 employees standing around bsing and being a Mexican didn't help either as soon a s a white guy showed up to the gun counter they ran straight to the counter to help him after that I said the hell with dicks in general and left drove up to fishermans about 20 miles away the oppsite direction from where i wanted to go and right away got the customer services I deserved had no problem giving them the 500 dollars I had to purchase my equipment and gear plus I also called dicks to speak to the manager and told the manager about what happened and like a unprofessional trained moron he just lied and laughed that were not racist or discriminate and act like he was reading a script instead of fixing the problem so I would definitely reward him for stupidest manager of the year and best role play for telling a customer basically to go f&^% yourself in a nice careless manner read more
