This is more of an observation than a review but why is it eveytime you go to Dick's you'll see like 10 cars in the parking lot but 2,000 customers inside. The math really doesn't math with that scenario. Anyways, this location is very spacious and carries quite a bit of stock for every sport imaginable. The store is also very organized and if you start on the left side you'll travel through each sports section like it was a museum...a museum of sporting goods. This store is also jam packed with sales associates that actually are knowledgeable and approachable, at least one corporation still acknowledges the benefit of hiring human beings. The product prices vary but everything I buy from them usually lasts. So in conclusion I would recommend this specific Dick's location to other sports minded consumers. read more

Unlike the Smithfield store I typically go to, this location was immaculate. Much cleaner than Smithfield. I do wish that this location had a larger selection of bicycle helmets to chose from. The current selection is not good. They need to get premium brands like Trek Starvos. Their selection is mostly lower end/economy brand helmets. read more

Store was well laid out which made it very easy to find what you're looking for and it was very clean which is also a plus. My husband and I purchased some Columbia jackets for rain that were priced to sell. Great deal- and it couldn't have come at a better time as we are seeing a concert at Fenway near the stage (with no covering) and it's supposed to rain all day -so we needed rain gear and they had all the essentials. Places like target didn't even have these types of items which was weird as it does rain in the summer in the north east so it was surprising. The cashier was courteous and got us in and out. While I miss Sports Authority, it's sort of nice not to have to do much price checking before buying anything. Dick's Sporting Goods has managed to take their business and now Golfsmith as a company completely as well (wow!). I stopped in this specific location in the North Attleborough Marketplace on Black Friday to look for deals last year for the winter season. Walking in, this store was bright, airy, and spacious. It had lots of signage and I was easily able to find everything I was looking for without any help. The store was a long rectangular shape and seemed to be a better layout than my local store in Dedham (plus, here I won't see people I know since it's farther away from my house!). The stockage was pretty good and the organization throughout the store was spectacular (especially considering I came on the night of Black Friday.... would've figured this place would've been in shambles). Tons of sneakers, tons of clothing and lots of variety throughout. Staff were alright, but not the most friendly or helpful. They weren't rude per say, but not a crew of energetic and overly helpful folks. In closing, it's a great place in the area to go for sporting goods, clothing, footwear, bikes, exercise equipment, hunting supplies and more. If you read all of the reviews you see a common theme that the logistics of how the company runs their various retail locations has completely fallen apart. It is clear that since they have a monopoly they don't have to care about their customers. They simply jack up the price on everything and staff the stores with as few employees as possible. But the chickens are coming home to roost because Covid is forcing people who already hate going to the stores to purchase online from companies like Amazon versus from Dick's themselves, which will further put pressure on them because of their high number of very expensive retail locations which are most certainly losing tons of money at this point. My hope is that someone else sees clearly what is going on here and spins up a sporting goods chain - even original one - that cares about its customers and knows how to run a real business. I look forward to seeing Dick's sporting goods close their stores. And I wish I could sit in on the postmortem in the Board meeting. read more

Was very disappointed with the associate at this store. She was rude when I asked her to point me in the direction of the golf supplies. I asked to speak to the manager and he was rude to me too! I made a return with no tags because my ten year old daughter pulled them off before trying on her outfit. No problem with return but as I began looking for clothes that fit my daughter I was followed around the store by an employee pretending to straighten up everywhere my daughter and I went in the store. I felt as if Dicks thought I was a shoplifter worthy of tailing. If I was not a person of color would that type of treatment have happened? I seriously doubt it. Pathetic. Every time I come into this store there is never enough people working at the register. The staff is nowhere to be found I really wish there was somewhere else that sold sporting goods in the area Update: 12/7/17 just went into the store and they are open until 11PM which is ridiculous but even more ridiculous there was a line of 12 people at the register and only one cashier! They had someone greeting at the door of course but actual staff helping to get people in and out within a timely manner nope they are so bad at this. If you are advanced beginner or above, don't get your tennis rackets strung here. I have not seen stringing job going any worse than this. First of all, they took 4 weeks to string my rackets and in one minute of wall practice, strings dislocated so much and stayed at dislocated positions. They offered to string again with any strings available at the store and when i went back for pickup I realized they restrung my rackets with strings of their choice without even telling me and new stringing is no better. I will never go there again for stringing. read more

I only go to Dicks when I am looking for something very particular that I assume sporting good store carry. For some reason, the things I need that I think will be at Dicks are never there. I went in today looking for a splash guard for my Nalgene water bottle and a new gym bag- since mine is torn to shreds (I wish it was from excessive use, but it's just old). Anyway, after scouring the large store for these two items, I asked a sales associate who was loafing by the front doors. She was a middle aged women who was friendly and called someone over her headset to see if they knew where the splash guards were. (I didn't have any luck with the gym bags, they were mostly either too big or backpacks) After about 5 minutes of ignoring me and talking to her co-worker over the headset, she pointed in a general area of the store and then moved her hand all around and said, "well, we have wattle bottles displaced all over the store, so..." I said I knew that but I needed an accessory for the one I already had and I had seen these before at another Dicks in Nashville, so I knew they sold them. She agreed that she knew what I was talking about and had seen them as well. She walked me over to an area where some water bottles were stacked and looked up and down the isle very casually then she just walked away. Another reason I am giving Dick's only two stars is because of their show selection. Yes, Dick's has a very limited selection of WOMENs shoes. I have a Dick's Card but that is a joke because I can't find anything I want. Customer service is the type that they are instructed to say hi to you but don't really mean it. Female manager has horrible customer service skills. Should be fired. We went the day before and spent $300, told the manager we'd be back for another piece. She confirmed there was more in stock. Next day, the same item was $50 more, the price went up in the middle of the week. Spoke to the same female manager and she would not reduce the price to what it was the day before. She questioned us as to whether we were sure and we showed her a picture to prove it. The manager still wouldn't reduce the price, then told us there was none in stock (probably a lie) after waiting around for 10+ minutes. The staff member helping walked away and didn't offer to check other stores, when we asked him to he took another 30 minutes to call places. Will never go here again. read more

Not one to post complaints online, but this one is deserving of it and should be a caution to anyone considering purchasing a basketball hoop from Dick's. I purchased an in-ground hoop (order 148.032617) and also paid for delivery and installation. The sales associate confirmed they had the hoop in stock and their vendor, Select Express, would contact me within 72 hours to schedule installation. Before I even left the store I got an automated text from Select Express confirming they received my order, so I was optimistic things would go smoothly. 72 hours came and went and never heard from Select Express. I called them to see what was going on, and I was informed I needed to complete the dig waiver so they could have proper approval before they do the installation. Totally reasonable other than the fact I was never informed of this previously and they never sent me anything to complete. They e-mailed me the waiver which I returned via e-mail within 30 minutes of them sending it to me. Another week goes by and still hear nothing from Select Express. I call again and they confirm they received the waiver but don't have clearance from dig safe. I asked them what the status was for that and they said they have no way of knowing, no idea when they would be out, etc... I then called dig safe for my state on my own and they couldn't tell me about my specific order since I didn't have the request number from Select Express, but they said they are required to complete all dig request reviews within 72 hours. I called the Dick's where I purchased the hoop (North Attleboro, MA) to see if they can assist and they called the Regional Manager for Select Express. He called me back and said he would call dig safe to get it scheduled, which clearly didn't happen previously. A few days later dig safe marked my property so I again called Select Express to try and get this installation scheduled. They said I needed to speak to the scheduling and logistics group but they weren't available and would call me back within 24 hours. That didn't happen so after a few days I called them yet again and again couldn't get put on the phone with their scheduling and logistics group. I called the local store to see if they had other vendors and was advised this is the only company that does their installations. They said they usually have good experiences, which I would strongly question because when you look up any site that allows for customer reviews you can see my experience with Select Express is pretty consistent with the lousy service they clearly provide. Half of my calls to Select Express I would be on hold and then when I got someone on the phone they would promptly ask me to hold and then leave me sitting again at least another 5-10 minutes. I also work in a service industry, and it's pretty shocking how unfriendly their phone attendants are and from the second they pick up the phone they sound like they are being burdened by the call. I'll be stopping in this weekend to my local Dick's to cancel my order, which is over $1,000 after accounting for the delivery charge and warranty I purchased. At this point I'd rather pay more from another company than to hand my hard earned money over for this terrible service. read more

The manager I encountered was a complete asshole, tried to return a gift that was in bad condition without a receipt and he refused to take the product back and told me it was a "there was nothing he could do and that it's a lose, lose situation for me" no apology. Mind you it was their fault for selling something in such a bad condition. If the store was organized I wouldn't have to deal with this right now but sadly it isn't. It's a nice enough store, but I get tired of the way the shoe dept is run. There are numerous shoes to select from. However its a one size fits all type of shoe sale. I can never find anything but the standard D width, or the biggest wide size they have.That is if I can ever find a wider width shoe to begin with. So many different shoes, yet they offer so little for someone with a wider foot. Yet the prices rival the running shoe stores. Which is where I end up going. I have had it with Dicks and will not be back. I also find them rather pricey for what they offer. I get the impression that Mr Dick thinks Dicks Sporting Good Stores and better than everyone else. Well its not. I rather go to Sports Chalet. Unfortunately there are none in this region of the country. read more

Visited the Dedham store to get my son a life jacket for camp as a requirement years ago, then a purple and black two piece outfit which I just had to have this past Spring. However, it was the "Huge Boat Sale" that I took a U-turn in the parking lot on my lunch break last Friday for, only to be unable to find a salesperson to help answer any questions I had and so I left. I was having a major urge to splurge and treat myself to my very first kayak as I always rent them nearby to home. The following morning, last Saturday, I went on a mission starting the day excited as can be and with a smile that I was going to accomplish this so I travelled to the closest location from my home in Hingham only to find out they were sold out everywhere....except one place! North Attleboro had the capability of fulfilling my dream. I drove an hour down there, met "Ken" and the rest is history! Great customer service, great chuckles with Ken who even helped me load the kayak into my (new) car only to find my seats didn't fold down! Argh! I would go back to that North Attleboro store in a heartbeat and recommend them very highly as they are not only well stocked with items, the sales staff is super helpful and kind - especially when I didn't know who Ken was nor where to look for him when I first walked in, the cashier was great, the place is clean and things are hanging neatly and the overall service was fantastic! Oh yeah, and the North Attleboro store is one of the neatest stores out there since I have frequented the Dedham location (next to my office) as well as the Hanover store and when I've been in those locations, including the Newton location, there is stuff just thrown everywhere!
