Just left the Dick's Sporting Goods Store in Brier Creek. If you want to experience the epitome of poor customer service (or none), go to that store. From what I can tell there were three employees working (one in the shoe department - one at the register and another in the sporting goods section). I asked the person sitting on the floor in the sporting goods section if they had a particular item in the store. His response - I have no idea what I have and if I do, they are in the center aisle. Seriously, do you not have an inventory system that you can check? He never offered to help, he never asked if I was looking for anything else, he just went back to sitting on the floor. Additionally, there was one other customer in the store and she looked like she needed help also - but, I don't think the employees there know what customer service is. I have ordered online here twice and this location mainly seems to have everything I've needed for the softball season in stock. The Glenwood Avenue location is closer to home but yet they never have full stock. The curbside Pick Up here is excellent because the parking lot shared with the other stores within the shopping center can make you manic. Finding items online using the app was very easy and I plan to return again to use my rewards coupon. read more

I order two stealth 2 hybrids online for my birthday. I received the first one perfectly. The second that I received was the wrong club, the wrong head cover, and the head of the club had a chip on it. Customer service claimed that the store I was returning it to had 5 in stock to exchange it with. The store had zero in stock and none in the system anywhere. I received a gift card for the value of the item. This will be the absolute last online order with Dicks. The was no care given with the club I received wrong. Very obvious things that were overlooked when this club was sent. Stealth 2 club with a sim 2 head cover. The club was supposed to be a 3 and was a 4, and the chip on the head of the club. Whoever packaged this item had no regard for what the customer was receiving. Multiple obvious things that were wrong. I did not expect such poor service from Dicks. This encounter has completely changed my mind of Dicks as a whole. read more

Trust the other reviews and AVOID this location. My mother was looking to exchange the sneakers she got for Christmas for a size up. The first Dick's we went to on Glenwood Ave didn't have the size she wanted. However the Glenwood location greeted us when we came in, scanned the shoe box to check availability, offered to order the size she wanted since it wasn't available in store and then found a similar pair for my mom to try on just to make sure the new size was right. Great experience but she really wanted the sneakers today. So we ventured to Brier Creek location where the customer service was awful. No one greeted us initially and when my mom explained what she wanted the employee scanned the shoe box and then actually asked my mother if she was sure she got the sneakers from Dick's because the sneaker wasn't in stock. The nerve of this guy. That was an insult to my mother. I stopped him immediately because being rude and disrespectful to my mother does not fly. He tried to back track and say he was just saying the store didn't have it in stock but I knew what he meant and the damage was done. We showed him the receipt, not a gift receipt but the actual purchase receipt, and his response was to say you may need to go back to that location. No offer to help with the return. No offer to help order the correct size online. Complete opposite of the experience we had at Glenwood. I told my mom to return the sneakers and get a full refund. No way will Dick's get a dime of our hard earned money if this is how they treat customers. Only takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch. read more

I stopped in the store to grab a water bottle and decided to look around the store. An employee was nice enough to open the dressing room for me. While I was trying on shorts I heard the door rattling so I responded "someone's in here". Shortly after the door opened as wide as possible and the male employee was standing there as if he had seen a ghost. I understand they may not have heard me but KNOCK. I was covered, thankfully but it was a very uncomfortable experience. What makes it worse is he bolted and avoided me while the rest of the time I was in the store. I live in Raleigh and have been to a variety of Dick's stores. People in the stores are always friendly but not sure I'll go back. I ordered something online for my girlfriend on 3/7. I needed it by 3/12. It was a gift. Before placing the order I confirmed the item was in stock. After placing the order, Irish in customer service told me that it takes Dick's a while to process aka an order but it will probably arrive Saturday around 5? I asked her to cancel the order because it wasn't going to ship until Thursday and that would be playing it too close. I explained that I had to cancel the order would just refuse any deliveries from Dick's. Clueless she asked me to drop the unopened box at a Dick's Sporting Goods. I told her that Dick's would need to issue a UPS call tag to pick it up. She seemed to be reading off a script. Should have ordered it from Amazon and not going back to Dick's. I found matching bicycles here for myself and my bride - typically expensive bikes, but prior year models on clearance for better than 1/2 price. Imagine my joy when I walked out of the store with a couple of Diamonback Hybrids for a terrific price. The sales guy told me to give him a little time to make sure the bikes were properly set up. I caroused around the store looking at kayaks and golf clubs while he did his thing and then wrote up the tickets for the bikes. I came to Dick's to purchase a few Golf Pull Overs. I did find one , the attendant said he would be happy to order the other two. He was very helpful and made the order. But...for some reason he was not able to get a confirmation of the order. In fact the order looked like it did not go through. We tried again, again and again. With no confirmation from Dick's on line store. He made a number of calls , waited for someone on the other end. To make a long story with a repetitive sequence short. We left Dick's not knowing if the order went through or not. He apologized profusely. I actually felt bad for him, he went beyond his duty to assist us. He said a confirmation should be e mailed to us if it went through. Well it didn't and I received 3 sets of the Pull Overs in the mail. I would use Dick's again , but they need to stream line the on-line purchase system with a confirmation of the order. If the Brick n Mortar store has problems with it, just think how it would be if you tried it. I have to say EXCELLENT service by the gentleman in the Golf Dept. read more

I went in there this morning as my Bushnell golf watch is coming apart at the band. Watch is 4 months old ( purchased in October). Cale (the manager) told me to "send to Bushnell and he could not help". I showed him the warranty ( 1 year) and reciept . He said " since I did not purchase the extended warranty there, they could not help. I spend a lot of time and money there. I'll never shop that store again is what I said. Cale was very rude!! Meh. My beef with this place is that they keep MOVING their hand-weights to different sections. In a desperate search for 2lb hand-weights, I almost left the store angry and empty-handed. I circled the fitness section (right side, back of the store) about four times. No associates in the area. Why the heck weren't the hand-weights near the kettlebell weights and other lifting accessories?! I FINALLY found them on a single island -- separate from any of the aisles, parallel to the right wall. WHY this off location? I don't know. Once I got to the check-out line, I was in a better mood. However, the store cashier quickly dampened it by dryly and irritatedly asking me if I had found everything I was looking for twice -- which I answered, twice. My Dick's Score Rewards card sticker was on my credit card, which I had handed initially to the store associate to scan. Instead of scanning and handing it back, she held on to my card until it was time for me to swipe it. She then proceeded to dully ask me if I wanted to donate money to St. Jude's, and finally ended by telling me to have a great day. The only good interaction I had was from the associate that greeted me after I had first entered the store. This store is convenient place to get sporting goods, but the service here varies. I'd be more inclined to visit a "Mom & Pop" shop to get better service. read more

I had an employee named Emily help me finding a particular brand of shorts. She bent of backwards helping my daughter and I and she was very sweet, very helpful, and very knowledgeable. Then when we checked out we had a very nice guy named Alex who was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the store! My only complaint was that at the front where the registers are, there were all Carolina T-shirt's. No other team at all. Not everyone in the world is a UNC fan and there are 2 other Universities in this area as well....Duke, State. There could at least be a mixture! read more

I wasn't a fan of Dick's, and especially of this one after an experience years ago when my then 7-8yo (now 15yo) got sick and the sales associate repeatedly ignored my husband's question of where he could find a restroom. The sales rep finally paid attention when our daughter threw up in the aisle, which he then had to clean. Sorry, not sorry. That had been the experience in the past - very unattentive sales reps or none at all to help you. Fast forward 7-8 years and the DH decided to give this particular store another chance. Our experience thus far has improved dramatically. Once engaged, the sales reps have been quite helpful. Having worked on the corporate side for an outdoor retailer and have recruited for their retail staff, customer engagement is key. Just because you work for a big box retailer doesn't mean you can't interact with customers like you work for a specialty retailer. You sell some of the biggest brands in the world - Nike, The North Face, Under Armour, Mizuno, etc. - show up to work like you represent each one of these brands. As Jack Harbaugh would say, "Attack this day with an ethusiasm unknown to mankind." Stepping off the soap box, the customer service has improved for us with the last few store visits. Keep it up and you'll find yourselves with loyal customers who keep coming back. read more

[Dog friendly!] Did you know you can take your dog to Dick's!? When you do, other patrons might look at you funny because most people don't know this. They don't offer any special "dog stuff" like giving your dog a treat or anything, but I'm just happy to have more stores where I can take my dog. The staff seems pretty knowledgeable; I got binoculars here one time and the associate clearly knew what he was talking about. Thier selection of camping gear is a little limited, but you can't take your dog to REI. If you're looking for something standard in camping it's probably easier to get it here than put up with walmart or make a trip to bass pro if you're not near one. They have good prices on camp chais and popup tents/canopies. read more

I went to Dick's in Brier Creek to return a sweater my Mom had bought me for Christmas. My Mother bought it with cash at a Dick's in Richmond so if I didn't want it the return I could get in cash. When returning the sweater today I was told Dick's could only give me a gift card and not the cash because I only had the gift receipt. You would think with the declining retail brick and mortar numbers customer service would be trying to save customers not lose them. Well they lost me and my Mother today. 2.5 stars is very accurate. They do have some employees that will actually help customers and do their jobs. Unlike today m, January 3rd, 2018, all I wanted to do is try on some shoes. I walk into the shoe area, employee never once acknowledged me. I'm even grabbing shoes and nothing. I love coming to Dick's for all my sports needs, but yesterday was just a pain in the -- you know what. I went to the store looking for airsoft guns. Me, my father and my boyfriend were ready to spend however much we needed for good, sturdy protection without needing a license. We came to this Dick's all the way from Franklin County (45 mins away), and went to the area they sold weapons. While we browsed, we had questions. And not a single soul was in sight. Finally, two employees come over and are gossiping... some older guy and a younger girl, about all the terrible things going on in their lives. The girl wouldn't stop harping on her parents, something to do with Publix and how she's so mad -- while all three of us are standing there waiting to ask them a question. They didn't even bat an eye at us and walked away. Really? About 15 minutes later, the same guy comes back, only by himself. I asked him if this certain box (two duel Colt Airsofts) would be worth it, and if they were popular. He just goes, "yeah yeah" and then grabs the box to check us out. I was confused. I asked him once we were checking out if there was an issue with the guns, can I bring them back. He said, "Yup! With a receipt." Long story short, we got home. They're plastic pieces of crap that don't even fire. I called the store, they don't take guns back, even airsofts. That guy working there absolutely sucks and is more worried about gossiping than helping out a customer. The only reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because a wonderful associate is letting me return it, only after I had to argue my ways on the phone. The whole thing is a nightmare and it's not brain surgery to sell someone a good product. Focus on your customers, man, not the girls. read more

I only go to Dick's to buy golf balls and invariably there is always a problem at checkout. Today was no different . Their customer service desk for returns wasn't open and the women in front of me needed to make a return . The checker called for someone to approve the return. No one showed up for 5 minutes but it was another clerk who couldn't approve the refund either. The clerk told the person behind me to come to the next register so I continued to wait. I'm from out of town here for business and staying in a hotel just down the road. I forgot to bring socks for my running shoes. I go to Dicks sporting goods all the time back home. I went in to get the socks and a great pair of shoes caught my eye. I stood there waiting for 10 mins and not a sole (get it) came to help me. I put the $140 shoe back on the display and walked out. That Dicks was the Home Depot of sporting goods... No one could be found when you need help. Not going there again!!! read more

Every time i go in here it is well orginized and the staff is always very helpful. I bought knee braces and shorts and when i got home they didnt fit. The return process was super fast and they were very helpful in suggesting other choices for what i purchased (i returned the braces because i didnt like the way they made my knee practically unbendable). I picked up a coupon at the Durham Bulls baseball game for 20% off a purchase over $50, but when I got to the store, I discovered that it didn't cover any of the major brands (it excluded nike, reebok, merrill, adidas, coleman, marmot, kelty just to name a few). I asked the cashier what WAS included and she couldn't answer me. I feel like this "fake" coupon was a deceptive way of getting me in the store while not actually being able to save money. I went in this store this morning with running shoes on my mind. I've done a little bit of research on shoes designed just for running. I have flat feet so I needed a good pair that when I'm done running my joints and feet don't hurt so much. I've got to tell you all, the fellows in the shoe department had some real knowledge about their show line up. I learned a lot about different types of shoes and their focuses. The great salesmen helped me find a great pair that are so comfortable and at a decent price point. Just had my first run in them and not a sore joint or foot. Great service and products. Just went to buy water shoes for my son.The man in the shoe dept directed me towards what he called the water shoe area. Not what I wanted. Thats ok. I found what I wanted on the other side of the shoe dept. I needed a size and no helper. I heard him talking to his friend in the back. I waited. He was chatting up a long conversation. I stuck my head in the back and asked for help. He got all in my face about going in a restricted area. He said he already helped me. What has this world come to. I thought with their empty store that maybe he had time to help me. I was the only person int the store. Never again will i SPEND MONEY AT DICKS. Very disappointing Customer Service. I have been a loyal customer for many, many years. We purchased the majority of our sons sporting equipment through the years, they are now 38 and 34 years old. We are now purchasing for our grandchildren. I am very disappointed with the customer service I received when we recently purchased 2 Diamond Back bikes for our grandchildren (both purchased same day $179.99 each). We had a very helpful sales associate during the purchase. He told us that there was a promotion recently where you purchased one bike and received one free, however that promotion ended a few weeks prior. He suggested we call Corporate Customer Service to see if they would honor the promotion. The Customer Service Rep told us Dick's policy is to honor a promotion up to 60 days (which time frame the purchase fell into) however since it was an in store purchase the Manager of the store would need to initiate the refund. I then called and spoke with the Manager and she said it was a 14 day policy?? I called back Customer Service and she said to have the Manager call them and she would explain it. I relayed the message to the Store Manager and she said she would do that and call me back.. She did not call me back so the next day I followed up with her and she said it's a 14 day policy and there is nothing she can do. My frustration comes from the fact that this has been a lot of going back and forth and getting 2 different policies from 2 different areas of Dick's Management! Very unprofessional on both levels. This experience has impacted how I feel about the store and my desire to do any further business with them. I will surely share this experience with family and friends. read more

I had a great experience here. Instead of having staff hassle you in the aisle like some other stores, I saw a button that you can press if you need help. A nice guy named Jeff came over pretty quickly to help me find a softball glove. He plays as well and seemed very knowledgable about the gloves and he suggested aspects that I hadn't even thought about. I didn't feel like I had someone selling something to me, I felt like I was talking to an expert to find exactly what I needed. I knew that it would be a bit of an issue finding a glove for me since I am left-handed, but we found a glove I liked and Jeff helped me order it online right there in the store instead of sending me home to make me order it there. When it came time to help out, Destinii (sp?) helped me sign up for my scorecard and had a great personality. Both Jeff, Destinii and I joked and laughed. I came into the store in a bad mood because of the store I had been to just before that (different story!) but that turned around real quick after my interaction with them!
